Zachary didn't respond. But he seemed pretty deep into his textbook, scribbling notes down on some paper. So instead she went back to her page on stances. The first one they book described was the neutral stance, which seemed pretty self descriptive. The book simply stated it was a normal stance that held no defensive or aggressive behavior. It did not aid or interfere with the casting of spells or the receiving of spells. Syrah thought of this like the stance one would take if they did not know anything of this before they began a duel. Sort of like what she might have done if she hadn't read this before her first duel.

The second stance was the aggressive stance which helped the spell power of the attacks made. Although Syrah did not understand how a way of standing could aid it damage during a fight, she listened to the book anyway. If it was in the Hogwarts library it must be well trusted. The book did mention that this stance left the dueller more vulnerable to incoming attacks. So Syrah would definitely have to use caution if she decided to be aggressive. She didn't want to take too much and get beaten too quickly. 

The final type of stance Syrah read about was the defensive stance. This seemed somewhat self explanatory as well and appeared to be the opposite of the aggressive stance. It basically was a way of standing that made it harder for spells to hit, and if they did they may be slightly weakened. For some reason Syrah found herself more drawn to this stance, at least while she was still a beginner dueller. And certainly before she knew too many usable spells. 

In case Zachary was still listening even though he seemed in his own world, Syrah quickly mentioned the stances to him. At least he could write them down to look up later. 

The pair stayed, silent, in the library for quite a while. Syrah was mostly studying stances and things related to that since she had never heard of them before. She learned about + or plus stances that were basically an amped up version of themselves. There was the Agressive+ stance which was basically a more aggressive aggressive stance as well as a Defensive+ stance which, of course was a more defense defensive stance. It seemed pretty simple, but Syrah would definitely have to practice this hands on if she wanted to fully understand. Her next stop in herher duel research would have to take her to the dueling room to practice. 

She looked up at her partner to see how he was doing. He must not be a very good team player, seeing as he had not said a word in a very long time, but his notes, at least, had grown significantly on his paper, so he was doing something.

As she looked at him she got a glance of the window behind him. It was dark outside! Not quite full night, she could still see some blue in the sky. But it was a deep blue and that meant it was time for dinner. Right on schedule, too, her stomach rumbled and she frowned.

"Hey, Zachary, it's getting late and I'm obviously hungry! I think I figured out a good amount of stuff today so I'm pretty satisfied. Thank you for helping me!" She was, actually, grateful for the boy's help before he got all silent. "I can give you a copy of some notes tomorrow if you want. If you found anything interesting I'd like to see yours too! Maybe we can meet up tomorrow!" She exclaimed, hopeful. She really did want his notes.

"Anyway, I'll see you later then! And don't forget that we'll need to duel soon!" With that, Syrah got up from the table, gathered her things and headed down to the dining hall to grab a bite to eat.
