Bathroom phantom
backdate. Early October.
with @Amber BullhornThe corridors were beyond scary past curfew, almost as if the darkness accompanying him had sentience. The complete silence and sleeping portraits had his heart racing as he walked through the shadows, on his tiptoes, too paranoid to even breathe. Edmund tried to tell himself he wasn't scared - it's fine! But he was lying.
One loud move and people would know he had left the Gryffindor common room. Up until now, the minor mischief he had caused had been during the day - stealing the brooms, setting up a few pranks, the usual silly things. It was different now.
Shivers ran up his spines when he arrived on the second floor and stared at the door to the abandoned toilets. He walked past it every single day, but at night, an uneasy feeling settled on his stomach. He wondered if Moaning Myrtle was there - waiting for them. If she had, somehow, heard them talking about her and decided she'd spook the souls out of them.
Edmund took a look inside - staring at the wooden cubicles and the candles casting dark shadows onto the floor. It smelled awful. He crossed his arms and went back outside, hoping Amber wouldn't take too long to arrive.

Amber thought her and Edmund would have gone from the common room together but she quickly realized he had went ahead to the bathroom, "Typical boy." She muttered under her breath. Luckily it was easy enough for her to make it from Gryffindor Tower down to the second floor, where the abandoned bathroom was. She thought about getting her own back on Edmund, scaring him for going on without her.
She was wearing her school uniform without her robes, her clothes and hair untidy from a long day of classes. The castle was cold at night so she regretted not wearing her robes or, at the very least, her school scarf. A shiver ran up her spine as she got closer to the bathroom as well and she wondered what Myrtle was like.
If she was called Moaning Myrtle, then Amber already had a fair idea of what kind of ghost she was.
Spying Edmund from down the corridor, Amber smirked as she sneaked along quietly. Luckily, he was looking in the other direction when she got closed so she jumped and grabbed onto him, "Boo!" She whispered in his ear, fighting to hold back her laughter at her scare working out so well. She hoped she had scared him and Edmund wasn't just pretending he hadn't seen her this whole time.
That would definitely ruin her fun.
She let go of her friend and giggled quietly, peeking at the door to the bathroom, "Have you gone in before?" Amber asks in a whisper. She hoped Edmund wouldn't be too mad at her scaring him - she suspected he would do the same if he had the chance.

@Amber BullhornHands grabbed onto him and Edmund jumped in place, closing his eyes. His heart and soul had almost left his body for a split second before he heard Amber's voice. Of course it was her. He turned and pointed his wand at the girl, as a silent, meaningless threat of a hex if she tried to be funny again.
At the sight of her smile, however, he resigned and shoved it back in his robes.
"Ha-ha," Eddie mocked, poking her arms as retaliation. Ironic. He was planning on scaring her the second they entered the abandoned bathroom together, but Amber got to him first. After her question, he took another peek inside, hoping to find Moaning Myrtle, but, just like the other time he tried to snoop around, she was nowhere to be found. "I looked inside, that's all. It's not that scary, but it smells like Merlin's wet socks,"
He moved and grabbed onto Amber's shoulders, giving her a small, encouraging smile before putting her in front of him, like a shield, or an offering for the monster.
"Ladies first," said Edmund, giving her pats on the back to motivate her to go in. "I heard the basilisk like sweet girls. Don't worry. If anything happens, I'll call the professors to save you,"
