General The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018

Energy still buzzed throughout Yvaine’s wiry frame as the Sorting Hat announced his house as Ravenclaw. He honestly didn’t know what to expect, but found it a tad strange to be lumped in with the bookworms. Recalling the House colors helped in locating the table, his smile bright as he scurried to an open seat.

“Hi,” he greeted as he sat, eyes looking around at his fellow house mates. “I’m Yvaine, but you can call me Eevee.”

The more overwhelming choices sat before him on the table. Given the array of foods and a lack of a mother to dictate what he should and could not eat, Yvaine quickly filled his plate with foods he knew he loved, and possibly in portions far too large for the boy. But he took to his meal none the less with gusto, sure to at least remain polite in the endeavor, only speaking when no food remained in his maw.

“Hey,” he said as he lowered his tone to a whisper. “Anyone know if this place has WiFi? I’ve always wondered, you know? My dad says there are some things Hogwarts will never take to, but you never know. Besides, I quite like the internet.”

RAVENCLAW, the battered hat belted out, eager to be set on yet another student's head. Mia felt dazed, as if she had just woken up from one of her four-hour naps, as the Sorting Hat was lifted from her head. Applause came from the school, but the Sorting was so far along that it was more of a half-hearted attempt to be polite. I really can't blame them, it must be torture to be surrounded by friends and food, but have to pay attention to something that doesn't really affect you, Mia thought.

She hurried along to the Ravenclaw table, found an empty spot, and squeezed her small frame between two large people. The Sorting continued, but Mia couldn't be bothered. There was too much good food! She did try to keep an eye on what she put on her plate, however, and stuck to desserts and the occasional pile of fries with ketchup to the side.

Once she was done scarfing her food down, she looked up at the other Ravenclaws sitting around her. She tried to catch the eye of at least someone, but Mia was too shy to actually initiate a conversation with anyone. She sighed to herself, feeling more alone than ever. I guess I usually had some people I knew for a long time who I could talk to about my random useless facts and theories I found online, Mia thought. However, she was not about to lose hope. After all, it was only her first day at Hogwarts, and she was never the kind of person to just give up.

From hearing the decision of the sorting hat, she went to the table and found a place to sit; shrinking away from the new people all around her. This was enough to send anyone's anxiety through the roof she thought to herself. Several times she found herself muttering to herself that she could do this, that she belonged here like everyone else here. She only hoped no one would be staring at her thinking her to be crazy or something along those lines. Shaking the thought from her head, she instead turned her attention to the food and thought to try some. She found it was as good as her mother had told her in the past. She helped herself to some of the pastries and juice enjoying every taste that reached her mouth.
As she finished her food, she had started on her first letter to her mother. She had promised to write to her often, so this would be the first of several letters. She hoped she was managing the shop ok on her own. Their magic tea shop often got quite busy this time of the year. She couldn't help but worry about her mother's well being with her handling it by herself now.
"She's fine..." she muttered to herself. Her mother is a strong woman and she can only hope to become as strong as her someday.

Amber sat on the steps of some stairs, winded by the long walk from Ravenclaw Tower. I'm gonna have to get used to this. She thought as she stood back up to go into the great hall.

As she walked past the gathered Gryffindors, Slytherins, Hufflepuffs, and member her fellow Ravenclaws, Amber was filled with the same wonder she had been the night before, on that of the sorting. The enchanted ceiling glowed with morning light, a tiny bit of pink mixing with bright blue. Fluffy white clouds seemed gold when the floating candles' flames flickered above.

It was all so perfect.

Looking once again at things not above, Amber nervously scanned the Ravenclaw table for a seat. She desperately searched for a face that seemed familiar, but she hadn't met many others yet.

I don't know anyone! She panicked.  Where should I sit!?

She finally spotted an empty space surrounded by friendly looking girls. She quietly said "Excuse me," and they nodded to her. She started to say something, maybe a polite hello, but the morning mail interrupted whatever she thought she might say.

Owls flooded into the hall, dropping off various letters, packages, and forgotten supplies to students. Amber wished she had an owl of her own, but their family owl, Annabeth, had to stay with her parents. Ignoring the feathers scattered about the table, which really wasn't that hygienic and probably would've caused some food safety concerns in the Muggle world, Amber tried to get some bacon from a plate, but it wasn't quite close enough, embarrassed, she asked the person next to her, "Um, sorry, but could you pass the bacon?"

Valerie had gotten up early as usual. She didn't know how some people could sleep to well after sunrise. The moment the sun was fully up one had to be awake to make the most of a day. Her grandpa was a baker, he had to get up hours before sunrise to bake the fresh bread and pastries for the day. That was hard. Getting up with the sun was easy, really.

She was one of the first students at breakfast and took her time to watch the other students dribble into the hall one after another, most of them bleary-eyed and yawning. The Gryffindors seemed to take the early morning especially hard while Slytherins had the least amount of half-asleep zombies sitting at their table. Zombie, in your head...

Valerie hummed along to the old song playing her head while she enjoyed her breakfast. Hogwarts offered all the food somebody could want, really. There was a lot of the fatty stuff that was needed for an English breakfast, but she also found toast, jam and some light pastries her grandpa would have liked to try if he'd been there.

She looked up when the girl beside her asked for the bacon and stretched her right hand to fetch and pass her the plate. "Here you go."

The girl had pretty, dark hair and kind eyes. She seemed nice enough, so Valerie smiled at her.

"You are a first year too, right? How do you like Hogwarts? I think it's magnificent."

General The Ravenclaw Table 2017-2018
The night before went in a blur. The Sorting Ceremony had been a wondrous event with so many students and there was so much to see and experience. When Miles heard his name called and hearing the resounding RAVENCLAW!, his pulse quickened at the thought of joining his father's house. Remembering back to last night, there was the real question of whether I would be better off in another house. His Aunt Felicity did make Miles think about not just being apart of his father's house for the sake of legacy, but more so of what was inside Miles himself.

Those thoughts were waylaid by the chorus of chears from the house near the center clad in their shiny Ravenclaw badges and attire. Well I don't think I can look like an idiot going straight forward. Miles almost forgot about placing the Sorting hat back on the stool and joined my new house. After that moment the blurring started to occur. So much food to choose from and so many choices of new foods that he has never tried before. Alright, I'll have a little of this, and this, and ohh that as well! In the back of his mind, he knew he was making a bad mistake, but that is for tomorrow to worry about.

When he was walking down for breakfast in the great hall the next morning, he knew he talked to some other students last night, but best to be awake this time. Putting a fist to his head, Miles had a bit of a headache coming along probably from too much food. Note to self, moderate your food intake from now on. He scouted for a seat and some of his fellow first years and sat down hard on the bench and swayed a little before his head hit the table.

"Who would have thought too much food was a bad thing," Miles mused and states to no one in particular. His mind started to clear and for the first time took in the smells around him. "Hmm, Bacon!," Miles popped up cause come on who doesn't love bacon.

Ravenclaw table was bursting, and she barely knew where to sit. Last night, she had been too full of emotion to really think about it and had squished next to some first years that she didn't talk to and didn't remember the name of. Today, her mind was more fresh and she was almost more exited, although this time around she could take a moment to choose where to sit without the rabble of trying to sit before someone else joined them.

There was a boy talking to himself. Perhaps it was better to avoid the ones who could be mad, but instead it drew her towards him. The girl swivelled her feet around the bench and slid up to sit next to him. Of course, then it came to introducing herself and she wasn't exactly certain how to do that.

Instead, she distracted herself by filling up a bowl with cereal. He was clearly more interested in the bacon. Clarisse had already dipped her spoon into the bowl before realising she had forgotten the milk. And the nearest jug was closer to that boy next to her (Miles) than to herself.

She nudged him, hoping to not disturb him and his bacon. "Pass the milk, please?" Then, noticing he was a little out of it, "You are alright, right?"

Amber looked up in surprise when she heard the girl ask a question. She quickly finished chewing the bit of toast in her mouth, swallowing before replying, "Yeah, I'm a first year. Hogwarts is so beautiful, with the enchanted ceiling and the floating candles. The grounds are really pretty, too. I took some time to do a quick sketch from the window in the dormitory, I can't wait to explore a bit more."

The words were slurred a bit as she rushed to speak. Amber took a closer look at the girl, studying her features, especially her wild looking hair. Despite being a first year, the girl had well-applied makeup, a skill Amber wished she had. She wasn't quite sure if it was awkward to look at this girl so long while speaking, so she broke eye contact for a moment to look at her plate and took a quick breath before adding, "What classes are you looking forward to?"

What was a strange occurrence was that food got me into this state but bacon seemed to be the answer? Is that right? There were the highs and the lows. Yesterday it seemed was the happiest Miles had been in a long time, but the euphoria dissipated today when he realized that he ate way more food last night then his system could handle. He realized from the corner of his eyes that he had company but Miles could only seem to be oblivious. His senses seemed to be ruled by his stomach at the moment he thought when the girl next to him asked to pass the milk.

Those first impressions sure had her looking more prepared for the day then he was, headache or not. The sure amount of hair had Miles stare a little bit, but somehow his senses to return if a little late in reply. I, um, yea of course as he awkwardly leaned towards the center of the table to pass the milk to the long, dark locks girl sitting beside him. Sorry, if you think im ROOOD as Miles takes a bit of toast with sticky strawberry jam. I'm Miles and I personally blame the food last night for my sorry state. As he dusts off the bread crumbs from his hands onto his jeans, he leans cross body to offer fellow Ravenclaw his hand.

Lucia walks to the Ravenclaw table a sketch book in hand. She was wearing head phones and drawing a detailed dragon. That's when someone tapped her on the shoulder. She took her headphones off to listen to what they had to say.
