The Silence Between
There was just one thing that Justin really missed from his life outside Hogwarts. His keyboard. Electricity didn't work here, so obviously there weren't any digital ones. But Hogwarts didn't really do other instruments that much either. Most students who did music here either sang or danced. This was, in his opinion, a great shame.
He walked over to an upright piano and sat down. There didn’t seem to be anyone else then, which was a relief. It is always much harder to play with a lot of people making noise, and he really wasn’t in the mood to try all of that today. Fortunately, there rarely were many students in the rehearsal room at once anyway, so that was never an issue.
What to play? After a few moments of hesitation, he remembered something he may be able to without notes. It was one of his favourite pieces. The Second Waltz. He usually didn’t do (play, of course, not dance to) waltzes, but this was an exception. It was quite unlike most of Shostakovich’s other pieces. It is so much more light-hearted, especially than his string quartets. And yet, there was still a darkness hidden underneath.
He placed his hands-on the keys and began.

The Silence Between
Taylor wandered through the corridors of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, looking for something interesting to do. She wore her Hogwarts school robes of black and red, with her curly hair braided down her back.
She headed down a random hallway, glancing occasionally at the paintings on the walls. They were moving, as Hogwarts portraits always tended to. There were goblins looking grumpy; knights waving swords and challenging everyone to a duel to the death, or just some good old-fashioned boring old people staring in front of them unblinkingly.
After a while, Taylor came across a room with its door open. After a moment of hesitation, she peeked inside, and was met with the sight of another student sitting at one of the pianos, playing it, quite well, actually. Taylor herself didn't play any musical instruments, but she felt that mastering any type of instrument was quite an impressive feat.
The boy playing the piano was a bit taller than her, maybe a second year, with pale skin contrasting against his black hair, and eyes a bluish-grey color. The yellow on his robes indicated that he was a Hufflepuff.
She took a step inside the room, so that she was standing by the door, clearing her throat awkwardly. 'Um, hi?'

The Silence Between
As he was playing, Justin heard someone step into the room, quietly. Why had he heard that? Most people were usually very absorbed when they were doing difficult things. And he usually was; playing the piano was one of the few things that he could properly concentrate on for extended periods of time. But not today, apparently. It hadn’t been a great day so far. That was the reason he had come to the rehearsal room in the first place, but
A few seconds later, he finished playing the piece. He stood up and turned around to see a girl – a Gryffindor, by her robes, and probably first or second year. She looked nearly as tall as him, so it was hard to tell which.
“Hello,” he replied. “So, what brings you here?” He didn’t think he had ever seen her in the castle before. Then again, he didn’t remember everyone he met. That was far too much to ask, given the unpredictable and treacherous nature of his memory. “I am at least 50% sure we haven’t met before, so... Hi, my name is Justin” That, at least, he could be sure of – unless he had amnesia, and everyone he knew was lying to his face. This option was possible, but highly unlikely.
