The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
Gaining some confidence after a series of successful spellcasting classes, Aida was in a happy mood upon entering Professor Zahid’s classroom. Yet, claustrophobic instincts still rumbling a paranoid warning about walls toppling in to entrap the little albino, Aida elected to stand as close to the room’s entryway as possible, for as long as possible. Yet, the time would come for Aida to have to move further into the room. With a queasy expression, Aida obediently shuffled into alignment with the row of volunteer recipients, directly in front of a shy-looking Ravenclaw.Backdated to the year 2020
Trying to suppress anxiety, Aida forced as much concentration as possible onto practicing the proper enunciation of the upcoming spell-- “BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem! BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem… BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem… BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem…” It was probably strange for others nearby to hear such an insistent repetition of the phrase, but for Aida, the endless repetition was blocking out thoughts of how enclosed the room was. “BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem… BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem… BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem.”
Looking at the volunteer Ravenclaw with unusually fierce determination, Aida pointed a dark, almost black Mayhaw wand at the girl and nearly shouted with anxiety, “BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!!” Three fat, golden bubbles wobbled out of Aida’s wand to waft around the target Ravenclaw harmlessly. Blinking hard, the albino understood that the spell had executed without failure and turned to rapidly seek refuge closer to the classroom doorway.

Professor Edit: Where some students were quite relaxed and did not worry much over casting a new spell, others were less so. But despite the Ravenclaw seemingly almost vibrating from nerves, Zahid noticed that they still cast the charm with ease. "Well done, Mx. Ellwood."Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
Damii had walked into the class of History of Magic. He wanted to learn more about the charm. He looked at the Professor and made notes of what Professor was speaking. He wanted to get as much information about this as he could. He wanted to get to know more about the Bubble making charm that would be a cool thing to do. He thought. He wanted to learn everything that was taught to him. He couldn't wait to learn as much as he could.
He was happy that he was here in the class learning about magic. Whether it was charms or hexes. He wanted to learn magic. He was not scared that he wouldn't succeed. He thought that every failure was a step towards success. He looked around as he noticed the volunteers who were around. He wanted to choose one of them. He looked at them and smiled. He wanted to choose someone he would do the charm on. He looked at the Professor who was teaching. He wanted to learn as much as he could. He looked at the Professor as the Professor told them about the wand movement. 'Point the wand and incant the charm'. That's easy. He practiced this without saying the charm.
He picked the Blue eyed Gryffindor girl. He pointed his wand at her and cast the spell. "BUL-la-rum im-MO-ta-lem" He may have incant it incorrectly because the bubbles were of different color and burst like soap bubbles. He shook his head and took a deep breath. He pointed his wand at her again and tried again.
"BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem" He said looking at her. This time it worked. He had incanted his charms clearly. He didn't want them to fail again. He sighed as he saw the bubbles burst again. He may have not pointed the wand correctly.
"BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem" He said a third time. He pointed the wand at her before he said the words.
Professor Edit: As the Ravenclaw's mis-cast bubbles burst, Zahid couldn't help but note that Miss Gibbs did not succeed in her spell casting either. More practice, it seemed, would be good for both of them. In the first year's case, that immediately proved true as his next attempt was cast correctly. "Well done, Mr. White."Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
Allison had finished all of her classes for the day except for History of Magic. Seeing that it was the last class of the day on her timetable, she quickly made her way to the classroom so she wouldn't be late. As soon as she got to the classroom, she learned that she was going to be learning a new spell today. Allison loved learning new things and had a thirst for knowledge. She listened attentively as the professor was speaking and wrote down the spell-casting information in her notes with her notebook and quill/ink.
After she had written everything down, she searched around the room to find a person to practice on. The only student left that didn't seem to be having any spells cast on at the moment was another Gryffindor girl but in a higher year than her. Before she casted the spell, she thought it might be a wise idea if she practiced first without her wand.
Allison picked up her wand at her and said "BUL-la-rum im-MO-ta-lem". Allison got the opposite result of what she wanted. She managed to cast the spell but did so incorrectly. "Mistakes happen. I will have to try again" she said. The bubbles did not appear to be correct in color and they bursted and popped like any ordinary soap bubbles would. She was getting frustrated but she managed to keep her composure and stay calm and she tried casting the spell again. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem" she said while pointing her wand at the Gryffindor girl. She realized why she failed the first time. She did not point her wand correctly. Her bubbles bursted again.
"Oh well, I guess third time's a charm. Let's try this one more time." Allison said. " Allison tried for the third time to cast the spell and pointed her wand at the Gryffindor girl and then said "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem" with more confidence.

Professor Edit: For all that a simple pointing of the wand was an easy wandmovement in that it required no movement at all, Zahid had noted that the urge to move their wands with a spell was already ingrained in many, so that there was tiny movement throwing off their aim. But like for the Gryffindor, that merely meant that they would have to try again - and succeded. "Well done, Miss Krug."Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year

While Colin enjoyed history, he had come to look forward to Professor Zahid's 'practical lessons' as well! Today they'd be practicing the bubble charm --- bullarum immortalem. This lesson looked to be particularly exciting, because they'd all get to cast their charms, not on each other, but on older students!
Professor Zahid explained that the charm, when cast correctly, would produce bubbles that didn't pop the way bubbles of soap would. "I wonder if these can be used in a duel," he said, almost whispering. He'd have to ask after class! When the professor mentioned the Soap Bubble Blizzard, Colin knew he'd have to go look that up as well! A blizzard of soap bubbles!? Wicked!
Fortunately, the charm wasn't too difficult. There was no wand movement! Just aim and enchant! The incantation would be the hard part, actually. Colin knew immediately that even though the words were Latin, he was quite certain they weren't stressed in the right places. He'd have to take especial note of any spells whose pronunciation or accent differed from expectation like this!
As the five older students were introduced, Colin repeated the incantation over and over in his head:
BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem; BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem; BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. And then at last! Professor Zahid told them all to queue up in front of a target so they could practice. Colin felt a very slight wave of panic! But as the queue advanced, he repeated to himself. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem; BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem; BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!
At last, Colin found himself in front of a blue eyed Gryffindor girl. Allison. Excellent! Snake versus Kitty! She nodded and smiled encouragingly, though, and Colin smiled back. He wondered if she had cast her impervius charm correctly! Colin aimed his wand at his target and --- of course! --- said: "bul-LAR-um im-mor-TAL-em!"
Nothing happened!
Colin blinked, then blushed! "Drat! BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!" That time he got the emphasis the right way around and a small string of varying sized bubbles gushed from his wand! He nodded. Third time's the charm! More firmly, he spoke the incantation: "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem!"
This time a nice string of bubbles shot out towards Allison!

Professor Edit: Checking on the progress on Miss Gibb's queue, Zahid saw that the Slytherin currently on his turn seemed a bit frazzled as his first attempts failed, though he didn't let that stop him from trying again - with success. "Well done, Mr. McCoire."Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
As Bea waited for the class to begin, she wondered at how the History of Magic professor had been the one allocated teaching extra spells. Perhaps he had volunteered, wanting to teach something more than just theory, or perhaps he had just drawn the short end of the stick as her Da would say. Either way Bea knew this would be a good class. She had a gut feeling.
Walking into the classroom, Bea was slightly surprised to see five older students standing near the wall of the classroom. What were they doing here? At the mention of target practice, Bea went wide eyed. Were these bubbles supposed to hurt? Since they couldn't break (if successful)? Swimming went the question through her mind. She was slightly placated to know that they were all here voluntarily, and surely they would know a spell to counter the bubble if it was going to hurt them...
As the class went on, and Professor Zahid urged them to practice for themselves, Bea grabbed her friends arm and sidled over towards one of the upper students who was not fully surrounded by her fellow first years. She had Slytherin robes on, and was quite tall compared to Beatrice. She must be at least 6 foot! "Hi, 'm Beatrice! Can we practice fith ya?" Even though she had been here almost an entire year at this point, her Scottish accent was still quite strong, and she slipped into it more often than not. Maybe she'd have to get Hilda, her English Hufflepuff friend to teach her.
The Slytherin seemed to brace herself slightly, seeming ready for the bubble onslaught. Bea smiled at her. "It's BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." Steadying herself, she repeated it a couple of times before lifting her wand towards the older Slytherin. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." On the last one, she pointed her wand at the student. Nothing happened this first go. Beatrice frowned slightly, annoyed. Now she'd have to go to the back of the now formed line and try again! She did just that, all the while muttering the incantation under her breath.
When her time came again, she was determined to get it right. Pointing her wand straight at the the Slytherin girl, she confidently said the incantation, "Bullarum Immortalem." This time small bubbles appeared from her wand, saying in the air slightly. Bea laughed and and high fived her friend behind her for getting it.
