Siege vs. Serena | Siege of the Towers
It went without saying that first years wouldn't be the best duelists. Being new to the school as well as limited to few spells made them the underdogs of the Dueling Club, but thankfully there were enough of them to pair them up against each other. It was a relief that the first duelists would be prefects - lead by example, wasn't that the saying?
The dueling room was bland, spare the few magical portraits hung on the walls. A thin, wooden platform was in the center of the room, a platform for the duelists to be showcased. On that platform stood Leonie, centered. She wore her usual black turtleneck with trousers, but without a robe. She held her hands behind her back, and her light blonde hair fell down behind her shoulders. She looked as usual, there was nothing special about that day. It was only a duel, and soon enough, these would be a regular thing she was sure.
Students flooded into the room, mainly from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. It made sense, considering those were the houses of the two duelists that day. Though a few green and blue robes still lingered in the room. "Welcome to the duel of Siege Bal versus Serena Towers," Leonie spoke. Her voice suggested that she used the amplification charm, but she had done nothing of the sort. She was just yelling. "These two prefects have volunteered to do a demonstration for us, so pay close attention, and prepare yourself for your own duel while spectating. Any signs of wands outside of pockets, except for Huffle Girl and Lion Boy, and you will be given detention." She explained simply, a monotonous look upon her face. She so didn't want to be doing this right now.
This was no mock duel, this was something real of sorts. Of course if things got to an extreme point, Leonie would have to step in, but this was a test of skill. It was the most efficient way to demonstrate, Cazarez had mentioned at some point. She motioned her hands to bring Serena and Siege onto the platform, and she would watch as they did their salute of respect, took their respective places at the ends of the platform, and bowed. Then, she would step off into the front of the crowd of students, causing a few to back away from her, intimidated by her to an extent. She would then, finally, begin the duel.
"You may begin."

The conflict in her heart was evident from the expression on her face. She did not want to do this. Yet this was precisely what she must do. Her heart was in a battle with itself. On one hand, she wanted to be able to protect those she cared about. She wanted to be stronger, better and more useful. She knew she needed to learn to cast spells under pressure. Yet on the other hand, she had to fight the very people she wanted to get stronger for. She was going to have to fight those she wanted to protect. Those she cared most about.
Her jaw was clenched tightly shut, her hand shook a little in the pockets of her robe, the nerves in her body was going crazy. She hated this. With every fibre of her being. She was not a duelist. She was never interested in fighting nor was she made to fight.
But Serena had no choice. This duel was not just for today. It was practice for a time when she might be forced to fight. She had already failed once. It had not been long since she started at Hogwarts and she had already almost lost her friends and her own life. There was no doubt this was the first of many... She had to get better. She just had to.
Hearing her name, she immediately took a deep breathe to calm her nerves before walking towards the stage. Her opponent was... a friend, for the lack of a better word. Their relationship was more complicated than her feelings right now. It seemed to change daily. Right now, they were friends again. But she was about to throw some spells at him... that may change things.
“Don’t go easy on me now,” she warned the Gryffindor boy on the other side of the stage. Her fist clenched around her wand as she pulled it out of her pocket. She did her salute, took her position and bowed, waiting for the duel to start.
Her expression turned serious. She hated this but this was the safest place to practice. She needed to do this and she had to do it with her full dedication if she hoped to beat those shadows again. She was not strong enough to do any harm to him... probably... nor would Professor Leonie let the duel put either of them in danger. So... it would be fine. She would just have to do what she could.
Taking her stance, Serena stared directly at him and lifted her wand to face him. On your mark, get set, go... On Leonie’s instruction, she started by suppressing all of her hesitation by bursting out the strongest and only spell she knew as she forced herself to act as though this were a real fight, “Incendio!”

Siege vs. Serena | Siege of the Towers
Uh...Why was he here again? Something up? He didn't remember agreeing to this! What is this? Dueling...He's heard about it, hell he even knows a bit of the basics, quite the achievement for someone like him! Although knowing the basics...Was this like a real fight? Or like just chuck a bunch of spells at each other, if so...How boring. That's like the lamest way to fight ever, what the hell? Can't he just use his flames to get him out of this? Oh wait...yeah...He can't control them...Well erm, that was awkward, now time to focus on the situation at hand!
Trainer Siege is going up against Trainer Serena for the supremacy of the Alleyway, "This alleyway isn't big enough for the both of us" type of challenge...Oh wait, wrong universe, now back to dueling! Now, what pokemon spell should he use? He didn't have much to choose from, the tickling spell? Or maybe the other useless one? Maybe it'll have some effect? He was pretty damn groggy though, he had been roused from his nap for this? Even though he wasn't even supposed to be taking a nap, but that's beside the damn point!
"Huh?Volunteered? But prof, I don't ever remember saying a 'Hell Yeah' to a duel!" Siege would say with quite the bored tone, almost a joking one too. He wasn't scared to joke around, especially with a professor, he didn't care, it was part of him and he was gonna just do what he wanted to. He wasn't nervous or anything, he just had zero idea as of what to do that moment. Now Siege...he was made to fight, he hated the fact he couldn't just go over and knock out his damn opponent, after all it was Serena in front of him...He also had a feeling that would be against the rules? Because if he landed a hit on a student...It wouldn't have been a pretty sight for them, seeing as they would not see anything after so.
Thinking about his actions, or lack thereof, Serena would speak up, quite surprisingly. Easy? Who said he was gonna go easy in the first place? Well maybe his damn mind? He didn't want to hurt her, but at the same time she just told him to not go easy on her...So...what to do? Wait a minute! There's one spell that he knows, that doesn't do much harm! Yes! Uh, the tickling spell...probably the only spell he knew too, besides launching her to the air or maybe knocking her out with a fistful of fire, it was definitely the best course of action.
Now...what was it? Rictusempra? Yes, I believe that was it. He was in an awkward stance to say the least. He was holding his wand while he seems like he was ready to punch, a stance with some defensive integrity at least.
"Rictusempra!" Siege would pretend like he actually wanted to erm..tickle her, which he wouldn't mind doing...Ahem...Friendly fight of tickling...That's about it...Yep end of story.

Siege vs. Serena | Siege of the Towers
MODERATOR NOTE:
I was asked to assist Professor Scheinberg in completing current duels.
Sebastian walked over to Professor Scheinberg, and whispered something to her in close proximity. There was a moment, before the Prefect nodded and walked over to take over with the duel; the blonde Professor made an exit, the situation Sebastian was asked to bring to her attention serious enough to warrant a sudden departure. Which left the duelists about to cast their attacks, to which Sebastian observed with some interest...
The usual pre-dueling comments were made, the observers watching to see who would win between the Prefects. The fight had garnered some attention, at any rate, since it was almost like a representation of House versus House, with the duelists being both well-known members for their year. Serena seemed poised, ready, and offered a salute. Siege on the other hand seemed dopey, half-awake and completely unprepared for what was about to happen.
And Sebastian rolled his eyes, the Gryffindor making a very poor first impression.
Nonetheless, the duel began. Serena cast Incendio, the end of her wand releasing a strong stream of flame, which shot through the space of the dueling area and landed on Siege's sleeve, catching alight. Thankfully, for him, it wasn't his wand arm, but as a result Siege's own cast was disrupted and the boy's wand end sputtered with the loss in concentration.
He was fortunate the Rictusempra spell didn't backfire.
The round ended, with Siege being aflame, and requiring to deal with said fire; Serena, on the other hand, was in a good position and was completely open to making her next attack while her opponent was distracted...

To her own surprise, she was actually successful in casting the spell in her first attempt. Her training and hard work seemed to be paying off. She actually knew how to cast a spell, it seemed. Or perhaps she was just proving that she was a very good Hufflepuff... Either way, Serena was actually rather shocked that it worked. The downside to this whole thing was that it worked. To her dismay, her opponent got hit by the fireball and caught on fire. Her eyes instantly widened, Sh- Siege! She almost dashed forward to try and put the fire out. If she knew a healing spell or the extinguisher spell, she would be firing that at him right now. But instead, she knew nothing. Stopping herself from running forward, a look of pain crossed her face as she was forced to watch the boy in front of her get hurt because of her. This duelling malarkey was definitely not for her. She hated the idea of hurting people...
Her grip tightened on her wand. A part of her knew that she had to do this. She had to learn to get stronger and duelling was definitely the best way to do so. She had to learn to cast spells under pressure, in case they were ever attacked again. It was by fluke that she had managed to successfully cast a spell to destroy the shadow that attacked them. She was not sure she could do that again. Staring at the boy in front of her, she felt a bit sick in her stomach. A part of her knew she had to duel to get better but she really did not want to do this anymore. She hated seeing him hurt.
But there were other people watching. These two Prefects had been summoned her to do a job. They were to demonstrate the rules of duelling and show people how it was done. Of course, Siege was not taking this half as seriously as she was but then again, did he ever take anything seriously? Serena was not sure if she could recall him being serious much... Ugh, a part of her was annoyed at him for not taking this seriously. If he had, perhaps he could have dodged it or taken a better approach.
Her mind raced with thoughts, emotions and the options of what the heck to do. That brilliant opportunity she had gained to attack him whilst he was distracted had quickly started to fade away in her hesitation. Siege had probably managed to put the fire out by now. Her heart was heavy but suddenly deciding to end this, Serena raised her wand again. She knew she had to end this, and she had to end it quickly. The sooner this ended, the less attacks she would have to throw on him, "Steleus!" Serena called out, suddenly recalling a spell that was a lot safer than the first one she had used.
