It wasn't long before it happened again.

These quidditch kids have really got to start taking better care of themselves, November thought to himself idly as he yet again found himself cleaning tools in the sink, dumping a wad of bloody bandages in the bins. He'd sent the Hufflepuff he'd found half-buried in a bush away with freshly sealed and bandaged wounds, and a soft-spoken lecture that if he'd been even a little less careful, his head might not have been in one piece. He had been bleeding a lot, after all.

Really, he was doing a favor; he was sure the head nurse must be incredibly overworked with the hundreds of students that walked these halls. Better that they never even need to deal with some of the smaller injuries and illnesses, right?

But something told him he still needed to keep this secret. Something told him it was wrong.

Just like everything else he'd ever loved.

November's hands began to shake, his grip on his doctor's bag going white-knuckled. He didn't even know who he was mad at: the world, for telling him he was wrong for existing, that every choice he made was one to be chastised and not rewarded, or himself, for being this way, for remaining a creature of darkness no matter how often the others tried to turn him towards the light.

He sighed, took a long, deep breath, until at last the shuddering tension eased from his narrow shoulders, and returned to his work.

Once again Xailah had found herself wandering around after hours- it had become a habit now, so it wasn't like this was unusual for her. She padded her way around the long winding corridors, staying close to the walls.

It appeared Xailah wasn't the only student up and walking around tonight, she watched as the other student made their way to the abandoned bathrooms. Seeing this flipped a switch in Xailahs mind- curiosity. So naturally she followed after the small shadowed figure of the student.

Abandoned bathrooms were a strange place to go at this hour; Xailah never went into these restrooms, she imagined that they were probably dirty, and gross, as well as falling apart- she wrinkled her nose in disgust at the thought. Eventually Xailah found herself in the doorway of the restrooms, now being faced with two options: Turn away and act like she didn't follow this kid, possibly saving herself from the disgusting abyss of the bathrooms; or she could go in and satisfy her curiosity.

Of course she went with the second option. She hesitantly leaned into the bathrooms to get a look around. Something metal clanked against one of the bathroom sinks, the sudden noise startled Xailah and she drew herself back- but not for long.

Xailah silently slunk into the darkness. "Well hallo there..."She purred with contentment. She started circling around the student- slowly, starting with a large circle, until it started to get smaller- Similar to the way a boa constrictor will constrict its prey.

Her umbrella dragged along the decomposing floor tiles- it made a grating sound, the sound wasn't harsh to the ears but it certainly wasn't pleasant. "Watcha doing? Playing Dr.Frankenstein? What fun." Her golden eyes glowed with amusement, as she revealed a Chesire Cat grin- but it quickly faded, when she realized the person seemed upset.

Kathleen woke up in the middle of the night. Her bladder pressing. She badly needed a toilet.
Only dressed in a light top and a pair of shorts, she padded along the corridor, her bare feet on the cold stone tiles. If the caretaker caught her, out here, in the middle of the night, she would be in horrendous trouble. Did you get expelled for breaking curfew?
Thankfully, the young witch made it halfway up the staircase without being noticed by anyone. But suddenly, the stairs shuddered. Kathleen gave a small cry, echoing in the silence of the castle. She heard a rumbling noise, sounding distant but coming in unison with the stairs' movements. They swayed to the side, then downwards, and the young witch had to cling on for dear life. "Help!" She didn't care about being found anymore, all she wanted was to get out of this damn thing. A tear rolled down her freckled face, more came, clouding her bright green eyes. What would be if she never found her way back again? This... thing had confused her completely. She did not know where she was going to - she didn't even have an idea what floor she was currently in! Finally, the "Staircase of Dread", as she referred to it in her head now, broke to a halt. The girl hurtled down, tumbling onto the tiles. Her hand went to her head - beneath the glossy ginger curls, something was seeping out. Blood. It must have happened when she hit her head on the stone. She rubbed at it fiercely to stop the red liquid from oozing out, but had to stop. She was wincing with pain. Her sight was extremely clouded with tears, but when she lifted her head, she was able to decipher the writing engraved on the door. TOILETS
Kathleen smiled tearfully, at least, she had reached her destination. Still wincing, she pushed open the door - and all needs, all pains were forgotten. She did not ask him, the scrawny Slytherin boy, what he was doing. She didn't need to ask. All she saw were the last remains of blood washing down the sink, circling the grubby - once white - surface, moving closer and closer to the pipe, and the gleaming scalpels in the students hand. Her voice was high and squeaky when she backed off, her eyes wide with fear. "What- what are you doing here?" He opened his mouth for a reply, but Kathleen cut him off. "You- you're mad! You've hurt people! Where did you get the... scalpels? Whose- blood is it?"
Suddenly she noticed a second student, a girl from Gryffindor, grinning madly at the boy. Kathleen backed off. Was this some kind of secret, scary meeting? She thought about telling a teacher, but who would believe her? They would probably tell her off for being out of bed so late. The young witch decided to repeat her question. "What's going on? What are you doing here?"

Yeah, I thought I'd just, leave this one open so I didn't have to turn anyone else down, you're more than welcome to post in here, Xailah!

As he placed each careful tool back in its resting place, November heard a sound.

He was not alone in here.

Instantly, he froze, eyes wide and visions of horror playing through his mind. It was over. The tiny seed of secret happiness he had been so careful in fostering was over. Unless-....

He whipped around, his movements far too fast, his sharp eyes scanning the room for the disturbance. And there she was, smiling, purring to him, circling him the way his beloved serpents would a mouse.

But November was not a mouse.

The doomsday scenarios in his mind were instantly replaced with plans, to salvage this. Maybe... Maybe he could nip this little problem in the bud before it was too late. His fingers tightened around the scalpel in his hand as he shook with terror and fury, his heart pounding heavy in his ears, his sharpened gaze never leaving Xailah as she stalked him. He knew exactly where each major artery lay beneath the skin. One slice, and-....

No. They'd see her missing. An investigation would be launched. And if he'd been careless enough to be spotted in the first place, surely he'd be caught. He'd have to work with her. "I-..." he began, but his words were cut off by the bathroom door opening a second time.

Alright, now this was really a disaster.

One person could perhaps be bargained with, but two? And by the sound of the other girl's alarmed cries, bargaining didn't exactly seem to be on her mind. Panic seized him, and he felt hot tears spill from his eyes. It was over. It was all over. His tiny hidden happiness, his dreams, all gone. Not knowing what else to do, he spotted a gap in his first visitor's circling, dashed for one of the empty stalls, and locked himself in. It was here, curled on the lidded seat of a toilet, that he began to truly weep.

Green's shoulders were held tight as he strolled down the corridor, hands stuffed into his pockets, trying not to turn the little vial in his pocket over and over in his fingers

That would look weird. And he didn't need to look any more suspicious than he already did.

The abandoned bathrooms hadn't been as abandoned as everyone was claiming they were the last time he went there, but he was hoping that this time, it would be a bit more private. It was, after all, only a half hour or so before curfew, and most students would probably be wisely scurrying back to their dormitories in order to avoid a detention.

That was, unless they were total gits like him.

The moment Green opened the bathroom door, his eyes went wide. A paper-white girl with the eyes of a demon, another yelling about blood and demanding answers - and was that November's inimitable sob echoing out from one of the stalls?

Oh, no. No, no. This would not do.

"Merlin's hairy nipples, what on earth is going on in here?" he exclaimed, looking at the two of them. He stepped quickly to the stall he figured must contain his sweet but sobby friend, chest puffing up, trying to make his tiny frame look bigger as he positioned himself protectively in front of the stall. "I heard shouting and crying from the hallway, and this is what I find! Now, the crying seemed about right," he gestured, shrugging, "Given the rumors, but this place is seeming less and less abandoned by the day. If anything, it seems to be the hottest spot in the school. We should make it a club," he went on, waving his hands dramatically. "Get some neon lights, maybe a fog machine! They'll hold the next ball in here."

He was being ridiculous, and he didn't have a plan, but that was the point. November was sobbing in there. He'd do anything to distract them away from that stall.

"Touch me, Midas; make me part of your design."

I was told i could post here by the thread host

Charles snuck out of the Slytherin dormitory and began to explore the castle. Just like his father and uncles who did the same during their first night. He made sure to keep an ear out for any professors or paintings that would alert people that he was up past curfew. He explored a good part of the first floor and then took the staircase up to the second floor and began to explore it a bit before arriving at what he remembered his father telling him was the abandoned bathroom. Curious he opened the door and was shocked to find other students in it. One of the girls seemed to be very scared and was yelling. That was the only one he heard as it was quite loud. He noticed another girl in the bathroom as well but either missed what she said or it was drowned out by the shouting. He looked around the bathroom trying to figure out what the woman was talking about. He saw no blood and could not find the other objects in the room either.

He closed the bathroom door behind him softly and looked at the other students “ Girls.. What is the issue here ?. I can hear you yelling from outside you are so loud. “ He said in a soft whisper as gave the bathroom and a better look now that he was inside of it better. Being that he was 5’7 he was quite tall and he then spotted what could have caused the woman yelling. He could see the scalpel now and he turned towards the girls and crossed his arms over his chest “ Ladies. What in the world is going on here? Look I am no perfect or an older student. But i do know that a scalpel is not supposed to be in the bathroom. So maybe one of you can explain ?” He asked softly his arms still folded across his arms. He remembered his father telling him this bathroom was haunted by a ghost and he wondered if she would make a appearance or not while he was in here. He hoped she would as he would love to speak to her one day.

Awright, I'mma make one more post and then PV the thread to just everyone who's here already because 5 people is about the maximum my meagre management skills can handle. :U So once I've done mine the order will be me, Xailah, Kathleen, Green, and then Charles. . w .

November shuddered and choked on his sobs, pulling even his feet up onto the seat so that none could see he was even there. But they could hear him, soft snuffles and whispered mewls, which seemed to waffle between cursing his own existence and bargaining with some unseen figure for mercy, audible snatches including -just trying to help- and -why can't I have one thing, just one thing- before they dissolved into choked, muffled keening.

However, even these sounds cut off as he heard the bathroom door open once again, freezing in absolute horror as his chances of escaping this with his secrets intact dwindled even further. He was already wishing his brief medical career, and even more fleeting happiness, a fond farewell.

But then, something amazing happened.

He recognized that voice.

At once, relief flooded into him. Not only was Green the one he loved most in all the school, but he was excellent at lying. There might actually be hope now, because if anyone could get him out of the horrible mire of a situation he found himself in now, here he was.

He opened his mouth to call out to him, and then closed it again. There was another presence at the door. He spoke to the girls who had cornered November with a smooth, calm-headed curiosity, and though he appeared to disapprove of a scalpel in the bathroom, (see, he knew he'd get in trouble for it,) November dared to hope.

After all, the newcomer appeared to have no idea he was in there.

What had Xailah gotten herself into?

Another girl entered the restrooms shortly after Xailah. Was she following her? What was this? A stalking fest?! Distracted, Xailah turned her attention away from the boy she was circling, this was enough time for him to run into one of the bathroom stalls.

Had she scared him? She wasn't sure if that was her goal or not- but the boys retreat to the bathroom stalls made her grimace. She glanced over at the redheaded girl who was in the restrooms too, and shrugged. Thats when another person entered. These bathrooms were far more popular than she thought. Weird.

Now this kid was a sight to see- screeching about "hairy nipples" and whatnot. The sudden banter concerned Xailah. Xailah turned around, and to her amusement she found that someone else had entered restrooms- a rather tall boy, a possible threat.
“ Ladies. What in the world is going on here? Look I am no perfect or an older student. But i do know that a scalpel is not supposed to be in the bathroom. So maybe one of you can explain ?”

Xailah looked down for a moment, thinking this situation through before responding to the question. "That...is my scalpel! I was using it for potions class, and I had come to wash it off in the sinks here. I must have left it in the sink by mistake." She gave the tall boy a warm smile, hoping that he would give into the lie. This kid looked like the type that would squeal on someone for wandering around after hours. "-and pardon me, but I feel that if anyone needs to do some explaining....Its you, sir." She glanced at the two other kids who came in before the tall boy. Did she dodge the boys question?

Her thoughts went back to the crying boy in the bathroom stall. Poor kid. There was no way in hell that the tall boy wasn't hearing his sobs. This whole thing just looked bad. Xailah found herself hoping that the tall boy was either just plain stupid or at least gullible.

Kathleen swallowed. She badly wanted to say something - but she had a notion that she shouldn't tell on that guy, he seemed... harmless. Would someone who killed - or at least badly hurt - a person and then snuck off at night cold-heartedly to vanquish the evidence be that upset? Would he disappear into a toilet cubicle in tears? She could still hear his muffled cries from in there. Something told her that the boy was nice at heart. So, for his sake, she decided to lie.
"Yeah... sorry for screaming. I thought I'd seen a speck of blood on the scalpel... and... um, I have a weak stomach. I can't stand seeing any blood. Sorry. Just wanted to use the toilet." Her weak stomach was, in fact, a figment of her imagination, but her need to use the facilities wasn't. She jumped into the cubicle next to the Slytherin student, doing her business there before adjusting her robes and whispering through the thin wooden partition between the cubicles. "Hey, what's going on here? What are you doing?" She could still here the others talking and the boy snuffling, but apart from that, it stayed quiet. She sighed, what had she got herself into? This was bizarre. She tried again, this time she pulled out the worn-out quill and the red leather-bound notebook which she always carried around with her. She tore out a page, scribbled something on it in slanting, curvy handwriting and pushed it through the gap under the partition. Then she knocked softly, signalling the Slytherin that she had sent him the message.
