A Peaceful Mind Club meeting

Ah, so Shanelle and Bailey had already done a meditation?

Well, he needed to get caught up then!

He nodded when Bailey asked if it was alright to tell them about the meditation activity she'd learned from the previous leader. Of course it was, it was Bailey's club now, right?

Upon hearing Bailey's instructions, Kim nodded and closed his eyes, trying to block out all the sounds. It was harder to do than expected, as his mind had a ton of things inside. But eventually, he was able to do so, blocking out one sound after another, until everything was quiet in there. Kim could hear the chattering of other students in the area, the rustling of feathers on nearby birds, a few plopping sounds of frogs hopping in and out of the water too.

And what was that? Oh, a person flying by on a broom.

Kim opened his eyes again, deciding this was enough for now. It had calmed him down a little and almost made him fall asleep again. Ah, the warmth of a nice bed and sleep, delightful calming sleep. He could feel his body calming down again and tried to keep his eyes open. Meditation was nice but it also was really tempting to give in to it and fall asleep in the process. How did people do this without giving in that urge? Especially if it was done early?

He glanced over at Bailey as the girl spoke again.

She started to refer to some other ideas she had and asked if anyone knew any group games.

"Let's hear your ideas!" Kim said, curious as to what went on inside Bailey's mind, it was bound to be fun. She struck him as the sort of person who always liked to engage in fun things. "By group games, do you mean in general or specifically related to the club?" Kim asked, wanting to know the distinction between the two. After all, he knew some group games but they weren't related to the Peaceful Mind Club at all. Did that matter or not?

Breathing in and out, Bailey listened to her surroundings. She heard the water, the faint chatter do people talking, some birds cawing, a person flying overhead on a broom, a ribbet or two of some frogs at the water’s edge. She also listened to the wind through the trees and the grass, and the water lapping onto the bank.
When she and the rest of her group opened their eyes, Kim was the first to speak. He asked what types of games she had meant. When he asked if she meant group games in general or if she she had meant games particular to the club she answered “Really any game that isn’t like to crazy or based on love or anything. Something like eskimo baseball. It’s a game my mum taught me- it’s like a race and rock paper scissors… or we could play something more PMC based or we could do another activity. You guys have to help make the decision. I have too many options!”
Laughing at the last thing she had said, Bailey took another sip of her lemonade. She was very grateful for the people surrounding her, and that they had come. She had to make sure to tell them that before she left.

Shanelle was excited to learn that they were doing meditation again, ready to be calm again. “Yay!” She cheered, then realising she had spoken a little too loudly, she blushed. “Oops, sorry.” She muttered under her breath, embarrassed. She hoped that they would not mind.

Her mind quickly focused on something else, as Bailey began to explain what they were supposed to be doing. Bailey had already explained how meditating worked to her, so Shanelle knew what she was doing. She closed her eyes and calmed her breathing, something she didn’t do last time. Since she had already done this before, she wanted to improve her experience and try to reach the next level of calmness.

“Maybe we can play a fun game after we finish meditating.” Shanelle suggested, her eyes still closed. She tried to focus on the soft chattering of people around her, the rustling of the tree leaves and the chirping of birds once again. She was going to meditate for a bit longer, but the conversation between Bailey, Simon and Kim about what games they should play interrupted her.

She opened her eyes and joined into the conversation. “What about a party game to loosen up the mood? Like Truth or Dare. Or spin the bottle. Or Would you rather.” She suggested again, in reply to Bailey’s question. She took a sip of her lemonade, after Bailey did, and reached for another meringue.

"I'm a little intrigued by the idea of eskimo baseball, although I could do some Truth or Dare too." No, probably not spin the bottle. While kissing was definitely one of Simon's favorite activities, he couldn't help but think back to Summer Camp and that Spin the Bottle game that went sour. He and his girlfriend at the time, Haley Rose, were having some difficulties and they sort of took out their frustration on poor innocent participants in the game.

"Either of those two, I'm game." If it was Spin the Bottle, he'd have to catch the next meeting of the Peaceful Mind Club because he was pretty sure that current girlfriend, AngelFyre McCubbin, wouldn't want him being so lose with his lips.

Hopefully the other three would come to some sort of agreeance. He liked spending time with both Shanelle and Bailey and maybe he'd get to know Kim a little more too.

Simon stepped over where everyone had placed their schoolbags and sat down by his, glad to be under the shade of the tree and he pulled out his water, taking a drink before getting out a small cellophane baggie of lemondrops and taking one to pop into his mouth. They were the only sweet that he would have and while the homemade treats there were probably delicious to most, he just didn't have the taste for it.

Ok… truth or dare, would you rather, spin the bottle, or Eskimo baseball. Bailey though, making a mental note of what they sounded willing to do.
Deciding that maybe they should start with a party game, and then move to something more for team building, Bailey spoke up, taking charge. She said “Ok! What if we start with truth or dare, and then we can play Eskimo baseball later when we finish? Does that work for y’all?”
Waiting for the rest of the club to voice their opinions, Bailey tried to think of something to say for a truth or dare.
what would be a good question… and something related to the club? I don’t want to do anything really political or anything… should I put that requirement down?
Deciding to make that a requirement, Bailey said “Just as a note, to keep this more PMC related, I don’t want any dares or truths to be politically related. Does that work for y’all?”
Hoping they didn’t object to it, Bailey tried to think of a good dare.
Since we are so close to the lake…. Should I do something related to it? Or would we just get in trouble for that? I don’t want to get detention or cause someone else to get detention…

Bailey's response to his earlier question made Kim raise a brow.

Eskimo baseball? He'd never heard of such a thing before and was quite intrigued.

But before he could ask what it was, Bailey answered him. She probably suspected he wouldn't have known what she was talking about and she would have been right about that assessment. "Well, I love games. All kinds of them. I'll try anything at least once. Eskimo baseball sounds like a really fun game too. I'd love to try it out during our meeting at some point in time." Kim said with a twitch of his lips. Eskimo baseball.

What a fun sounding game! He leaned over and took another meringue, biting into it as he sipped the lemonade Bailey had given him earlier. The combination was pretty good and he started thinking about their next meeting and whether he should bring something next time. As Shanelle spoke up, voicing her opinion, Kim glanced over at her. "I'm good with that." He said and Simon took the opportunity to speak too about choosing a game for them to play.

Kim was glad he'd mentioned his interest in eskimo baseball too.

Maybe they'd be able to get to play it now.

Well, it didn't have to be now, but at least sometime that afternoon. As Simon got up and made his way over to the trunk of one of the few trees in the area, Kim followed him with his eyes. When Simon took out a baggie of lemon drops, Kim smiled. It appeared as if he could smile just fine when he wasn't thinking about smiling. The moment he thought about doing it, his smile became a bit frightening, or downright fake. But it wasn't intentional on his part.

It just naturally happened and he had no control over it. When people reacted badly to his expressions, Kim became a bit self-conscious about it and stopped trying to smile.

Therefore, nowadays, all he tended to do was keep a neutral expression on at all times, or he smirked. Of course, the smirks were also misleading as many tended to think he was making fun of them. But what could he do? It was what had made Kim not care what others thought of him. After all, you couldn't please everyone, so why not just please yourself and not care about anyone else? "You like candy?" Kim asked Simon, with a lick of his soft luscious lips.

The subject of sweets was now first and foremost on his mind.

When it came to sweets, Kim really couldn't hold back. He was obsessed with them.

Especially when it came to chocolate. But he was interrupted from his sweet thoughts when Bailey spoke up, dictating what they were going to do. "Mm! Sounds good to me!" Kim said, agreeing with her ideas. Bailey then added a rule that politics shouldn't enter into the nature of the game. That was a good rule to prevent potential arguments. "Also, religion and family shouldn't enter into the picture too." The tall boy added with a little nod.

After all, these topics could also stir up some issues and the whole point of the PMC was to destress, not add to the stress of students. "Bailey. Truth or dare?" Kim said, taking the lead in the game. It wasn't as if he had a question or dare in mind, it was just that Bailey was an old friend and he felt comfortable with her. It had nothing to do with the fact that he didn't want to be the first one chosen to do something or tell the truth! Of course it wasn't.

Simon and Kim… aww they are so sweet. Are they really interested in Eskimo baseball?? I mean… we can play it later. I hope that this is not too much for Shanelle…. I know I can be a bit tomboyish and she doesn’t seem like that… Bailey thought. Her thoughts were a bit muddled, trying to take everything in. Being in charge of this club was a bit more than she was anticipating. Bailey was not regretting taking it over, she just knew she needed to be a tad more prepared for the next meeting.
When Kim added that politics and family shouldn’t be part of the club or influence it, Bailey had to agree. “Good point! Maybe tonight I should make a list of things that we should and shouldn’t or can and cannot discuss during club meetings… does that sound like a good idea?”
Then Kim took control and started truth or dare, addressing Bailey. thank goodness he took control. Though when and if I get a turn I am totally going to ask him… ohh I need to think of a good date…
Thinking for a moment, Bailey decided to say “Truth.”. This maybe was not her best decision, but it seemed safer than asking Kim, who was notorious for playing pranks on people, for a dare.

Kim inquired if he liked candy and honestly, Simon wasn't much of a fan. There was something about lemon drops though, maybe the sourness with the slightest hint of sweetness to balance them out that made them so good. He offered one up to the Gryffindor.

When it was decided that politics, family, or religion, shouldn't play into their game of Truth or Dare, Simon wondered if there could really be 'truth' involved. He was developing a stronger understanding of politics these days with halfbreed rights (or lack there of), much of his Hogwarts pre-existence was family related, and faith was his guiding light and his inspiration. How did one throw out all those things and why? If they had opposing viewpoints, could they not civilly discuss that?

As Kim started off the game, asking Bailey to choose her choice, Simon was glad it wasn't him. Maybe the three others could bounce around turns because, while he knew so many tried to be politically correct these days, but sometimes by skirting around the subjects, nothing really ever got said.

Simon popped one of the lemon drops into his mouth and then placed the baggie into his school bag. What truths would Kim uncover about Bailey?

As Simon offered him a piece, Kim took it.

How could he refuse an offer of candy, whatever it might be?

Well, unless it was fake grape or cherry that is. He didn't like the former because he'd gotten sick off it back in the past and the latter just reminded him of some kind of medicine. The only cherry flavored thing he hadn't minded too much was Bailey's cherry kolachky and that was only because there was cream cheese in it too. Kim started to think for a bit as a short period of peaceful silence washed over the group gathered on the grounds. It was so peaceful.

The whole point behind the PMC was to encourage members to relax.

If the game had included politics, religion and family, this might not make them do so.

In fact, there was a chance it could have the opposite effect and make them want to leave, which was undesirable. It wasn't as if they had many members to begin with, so keeping the ones they did have was essential. Kim wasn't bothered by politics much and was very open when it came to religion. But family was another matter. He didn't want to talk about them and would withdraw into himself if the topic turned to this. Or just not answer the question.

Since he was like this about this particular subject, it stood to reason that other people might feel the same about other sensitive subjects. After all, these 3 were the main ones people tended to have issues with. But then again, what if some people wanted to talk about these matters? Kim thought about it for a few seconds and then cleared his throat a little. "On second thought, if you did want to talk about politics, religion and family matters, you should be allowed to. But at the same time, there are some who might not want to engage in such discussions. So, let's add another rule." He said.

This one would spicen things up a little.

And it could be rather fun to do too, which was perfect.

"No topic is forbidden. But if you don't want to answer, you must drink an entire glass of lemonade within five seconds time. If you fail, you have to be subjected to another question." There. That made things even more interesting and gave interested parties a chance to participate in all aspects. And then he glanced back over at Bailey who had chosen truth for her choice. Kim nodded and thought about a question he might want to ask.

Ah, he had one. "What's the real reason you created this club?" Kim asked with a smirk. It was a question he was actually curious about and hadn't gotten around to asking.

Agreeing to what Kim said, Bailey made a mental note to send him an owl to double check all of the rules before she sent them out to everyone.
Then it was time for truth or dare. Kim had picked her, and her truth was to tell them the real reason she started this club. Laughing, knowing that her answer would be unexpected, Bailey said “Well… technically I did not start this club. Jennifer King did, and when she had to leave I am the one who took it over for her. I have no idea why she left but one day I went to the meeting and a prefect showed up and said that she was gone and if someone did not take over the club it would be done. Non existent- I did not want that to happen so … I took her job! I was already her Vice President so it was just a step up. Does that make sense?”
With that, Bailey sat back, looking around to see their reactions. Kim had smirked when he asked the question, and Bailey felt like this was going to be the opposite of what he expected. Laughing internally, Bailey took another sip of lemonade.
Then she spoke up, and directed her question toward the person she knew the least about- Shanelle. Bailey asked “Truth or dare?”
