A New Friend
Harper walked into the shop by her lonesome. She wanted to get a pet, just to call her own. She was unsure of what she would want. She was sure that there were many fine pets available but she wanted to make sure that she chose the best one for her. She wouldn't leave the pet shop until she found one. She was determined to do so.
As she walked into the shop, she heard the small rustlings of many animals inside. She slowly began walking around. First, she looked to a snake and she shook her head and covered her eyes. "No way! Too slimey and slitery!" She stated outloud to herself as she kept walking, coming to the Spiders. Again, she was filled fear, but also general disgust. She didn't understand how any witch or wizard would want a Spider! They were too creepy and she knew should WOULD NOT like the feeling of the creepy crawly legs crawling on he hand if she got one of those animals. Plus, she would be scared she would crush it because it was so tiny!
Moving on, Harper came across the owls. They were beautiful creatures. She was amazed by them. She took a moment to look at their elegant feathers. It was so interesting to her that each owl seemed to have a different feather pattern than its neighboring friend. There were all colors and shapes of owls, and despite her amazement of the owls, she still didn't feel like they were the right pet for her. She sighed, and moved on. She was afraid that she may not be able to find the correct pet for herself afterall. Though her determination was dwindling, Harper continued on her quest to find a pet.
'I need something that isn't huge, like an owl, and something that isn't slimey or creepy crawly like a snake or a spider... but what could that be?' She had thought this quietly to herself, having already spoken allowed about how gross the snake was earlier, she didn't want to disturb the owners or the other customers again. she always tried to be a polite young witch, and blurting out like she had done previously was not polite.
Suddenly, she was startled by a small squeak that had come from a couple of feet away from her. She slowly walked to the cage and saw a Gray colored Rabbit staring at her with adorable beady eyes! A smile appeared on her face. At this moment she had realized exactly which pet she needed to get. The look in the Rabbit's eyes was as if it was asking her to buy it. The rabbit looked soft and fuzzy, it wasn't slimey or creepy, and it was just big enough that she couldn't lose it like she could with the other pets, but not too big like the owls were.
Harper walked up to one of the owners, an older woman with a pretty floral dress. Harper noticed her warm inviting scent, it smelled of her mother's sugar cookies and it made Harper smile brightly. She spoke to the woman after a moment. "Excuse me Ma'am but once you get a moment, I would like to purchase that rabbit in the corner. He seems to be begging me to buy him, and he's the perfect fit for me." Harper spoke with a never-ending smile and a small point of her finger to the Misty Gray Rabbit she was talking about. She just needed a name for her new pet. After a moment, it came to her. Smokey was the perfect name, she had chosen it because the rabbit's gray fur reminded her of the the color of smoke from a fire.
