Aurelia had seen him around, the face of the boy almost stranger had they not been in the same house and had they not played the game years back. Although a game then, a spin of a bottle with the nozzle landing on one who she would make a move on, it didn't feel right. Granted, she was a few years younger then, but now she knew better, it nagged in her conscience with how she behaved then. She was meaning to speak with him finally, it was best to get it off her chest, perhaps to feel a little better and less of a horrid character.

So at lunchtime, Aurelia sought to approach. It wasn't too much of a challenge to find him among the length of the Gryffindor table. She would set down a bowl full of stew next to the vacant spot on the boy's right, then taking her seat. The presence exuded would be unsettling for most, that Aurelia knew well, but there was not much she could do about it really. "Alec, right?" She asked, more so for the pleasantries than anything else. "I'm Aurelia. I'm not sure if you recall the game a few years back. I really like to apologise, it wasn't... right."

Lunch was the same as usual. A routine one got used too, and having the reliability of a lax lunch period was nice. It became dreadfully boring and dreary after a while. The idea of the reliability of a lax lunch was nice. Working less when you put it into theory. Alec couldn't complain considering lunch had what he came for, lunch. Alec was making haste to eat in the hopes he could stay on schedule, not run even a minute over time. He would continue doing this up until someone took a seat to the right of him.

"Alec, right?"

The third-year would stop eating, followed by a slow nod. He didn't recognize the voice, but something felt different. Slightly unsettling...

"I'm Aurelia. I'm not sure if you recall the game a few years back. I really like to apologise, it wasn't... right."

Alec picked at his food with his fork as he listened to the person speak. When she stopped, Alec's reaction was immediate. “The game?” Alec asked questioningly, his head turned quickly the look at the older girl besides him. Words like those caught his attention in a way no others would. When his eyes met hers, his fast reaction slowed and he stared. The introduction should have given him enough information to know who she was and at the same time he hadn't. Alec's relaxed, slightly slumped posture straightened out. His body becoming visibly tense, he looked away. “Oh. That game.”

Alec got quiet after that. Unsure what to make of her sudden appearance or her intents. To Alec, none of it made any sense. He was confused as to how she remembered a moment so small, or even why she would care. She said it wasn't right, and Alec took a quick second to peek back at the older girl a quizzical look on his face. Eventually staring at his food and looking away from her. His eyebrows furrowed. It still didn't make any sense. “Why are you- ... what?”

Alec left unable to fully get the question out, tried to muster up some half-working reason on his own. Anything sensible to display more reason as to why this mattered today. “This is- this is about the stupid durm boy, isn't it? Look, I wouldn't have shoved you like I did with him.” To be fair that may have been because their heights hadn't been so different then, the kid had a gigantic growth spurt, Alec wasn't going to shove him now. People talked, so of course it was Alec's first and only conclusion. He wouldn't have been surprised to find out if it resurfaced. The scene was embarrassing enough. Alec had trouble figuring out why he had reacted that way. Only that it happened. He did his best ignore thoughts about it because the conclusions always made his head hurt. It was an overreaction. It didn't matter, none of it did.

Alec's grip on his eating utensil tightened. “I wasn't upset. I didn't care when it happened and I certainly don't care now.” Really he wasn't... Except the tone of his voice, abrasive in all it's glory, well, it seemed to say otherwise. A no-go Alec, meaning he needed to try again at that. Sound less like it mattered because it did not. “In other words, no apology needed and attempting was a waste of your time.” His voice came out bitter, as if he was in fact holding what happened against her. Not the way he wanted those words to come out, they were supposed to be reassuring and solidifying words. A sentence that had sounded better in his head.

Alec sighed. “Can you just- can you just not bring it up?”

What was going on? In a few minutes, it had all but turned on her. He certainly did not take it well, perhaps she should have let the young man eat his food first. Words that she thought were pretty clear were met with a misunderstanding. They weren't on the same page, and that let the confusion fester and set upon this conversation. Durmstrang boy? Aurelia only knew one durmstrang boy, and that was none other than the very charming Lysander Stavrou. Firstly, how did he know? Secondly, how did it pertain to this?

"Did you kiss him?" A question she hadn't thought she'd say, left her lips. An unexpected sentiment of jealousy simmered in her chest. Then again, he was tall and strong and Alec certainly would have faced some kind of repercussions for having instigated a physical dispute with someone like this particular 'durm boy'. Little did they know, they weren't thinking about the same people at all. She had thought her past actions were deserving of an apology but Alec's refusal was present but how did the conversation quickly come to this? "You know what, I won't. Have a good rest of your day." Aurelia stood to leave.

"Did you kiss him?"
"You know what, I won't. Have a good rest of your day."

Alec's processing speed slowed on words like those, and he hadn't really taken in any of what she had said, before he noticed she had already stood up to leave. Alec didn't mind it until all the words hit him in the face at once. It was in that moment Alec felt he wanted to melt into a blob of nothingness and disappear into the floor. It was often he was caught embarrassed much less flustered and he didn't know how to react. Alec's face flushed a vibrant shade of red. “N-no!” The third-year practically squeaked out, answering in a hushed tone. There were so many people in here. Her voice was so loud and did he really have to use the word 'kiss'??? Her voice was so loud and everybody could listen in and hear- augh- and now he had to figure out how to cover up his denial, great. Coincidentally enough, people walking off was something Alec couldn't handle. He hated people walking away from him, especially when they seemed upset or he couldn't get a word in. It was triggering enough to cause him to get up from seat. Aurelia's cold and brisk feeling nature was confusing to Alec he had no idea if she was mad or upset or something, or just if this was the older girl on a regular basis.

Hurry, fast come up with anything. “I don't- I don't kiss people!” Alec blurted, his voice was quiet but with how much redder his face went you would have thought he was shouting it across the room.

Well that was one way to cover his denying a kiss, and certainly not the right way. His internal voice was currently shouting at him, the voice of reason, as it should, perhaps saying that was not the smartest of moves. The whole not kissing people thing was not the admission he was trying to make. It was extremely frustrating how worse he kept making the situation for himself, and really only himself, nobody else cared but him. Could someone die of embarrassment? Alec swore it was going to happen.

His mind was focused on getting Aurelia to sit down, using increasingly desperate measures for a person who felt he had no real reason for doing this. She just needed to not walk off everything would be fine. Alec didn't know why her walking off mattered, he just knew he wasn't going to argue the logic. “They do however kiss me,” he amended, and from that moment on Alec was decidedly never bringing up durm boy again. She didn't seem to understand, so Alec wasn't sure this had anything to do with durm boy at all. Good. He wasn't sure how she would have been able to come up with the idea that just because he had shoved stupid durm boy he would do it to her. Alec came to the conclusion made it up to make sense of the nonsensical.

“I'm sorry!” The amendment did nothing to admonish his embarrassment or his flushed face, neither would his sorry, and the third-year suddenly becoming hyper-aware of it would cover his face. “You -you can apologize, if you want. I just don't understand why you would apologize, and I thought it was because people were talking about summer camp again, and-and the stuff with stupid durm boy but then you didn't seem to know what I was talking about and I don't think that was the reason, I-I could be wrong but-” His rambling which meant nothing in the long run would come to a sudden halt, realizing the rambling was happening, and that he brought up durm boy... “Oh merlin- I keep talking-” Yep confirmed, this was it, gone, going, he was dying from embarrassment. Alec made the rules. This was how death worked. Then he poofs as if he has a fireplace and floo powder. “I need to shut up.” Which was followed by... No words. Doing as he said and standing, shutting up.
