Howard continued to let the music guide his body as Bloom and he slipped into a euphoric state of mind. It didn't matter how goofy he looked with his long limbs flailing about. All that mattered in this moment was enjoying his time with her. He too would occasionally open his eyes and let them connect with hers, a nonverbal way to express how much he appreciated her company tonight. The feelings he had for her had been simmering for months, but now they began to boil over. For what seemed like ages he had kept a lid on that pot out of fear that he would ruin things between them. Firstly, she was a dear friend, but there was just something about this night that would blow the lid right off as the flood gates opened. He could no longer deny it and that truth moved him closer towards her as she flashed him another smile. The moment was perfect and so was his plan. He would reach out to her, swoop her up into his long arms and give her a long overdue first kiss.
"Hello..."
Just as his hands were reaching forward a nearby voice would draw Bloom's attention away from him. Howard's red eyes would flash as he looked around to see just who dared to interrupt his grand moment, but he could not identify who it was. The break in pace proved to be enough to distract them both as when his eye went back to hers he would find Bloom's gaze searching the room. Not only did her eyes wander, but the expression of pure joy she had worn just a moment before now seemed to carry a hint of stress. Howard let his long fingers find her elbow with a gentle grasp. An attempt to pull her back into the bliss, but just as he did the music would come to a stop. A quick exhale of exasperation left his nostrils as he turned to see what was going on.
It would be then that Howard would realize just how much chaos had been unfolding around them as a small cloud of smoke filled a section of the Great Hall and food was flung all around. Typical Hogwarts he shrugged, but what did earn all of his attention was the fact that the Goblet of Fire began to hiss with activity. Soon enough Headmaster Plott of Ilvermorny would enhance his voice and announce it was time for the selection. "It's time! It's time!" Howard called out to Bloom with a huge smile across his face. As their fingers locked he would squeeze her hand with excitement as the selection began.
"HOLY SHIT!" Howard bellowed as Plott announced him the Hogwarts champion. Never in a million years would he have guessed that he would be chosen, but the thrill of it all almost seemed to slow time as cheers and applause erupted around him. His eyes quickly bounced around the room, but would quickly land on Serena as they were often trained to pick her from a crowd. The moment was brief. Her gesture simple, but it meant more to him than she may ever know. A nod of her head and a mouthing of congratulations. It was almost enough to bring a tears to his eyes as her approval meant everything to him. She was his role model. A beacon of light that had pulled him through the shadows. "I did it!" Howard mouthed back to her as his eyes shone bright.
The thrill and excitement would be jolted with twinge of panic as Plott went on to announce the "special" person. Not but a moment later he would feel Bloom's hand slip away from his as she quickly excused herself. How could he have been so careless! He had all but forgotten that he had even wrote Falentra's name on that piece of parchment. It was just because he had caught her scent that day, right? Of course it wasn't that simple. The mere catch of a scent shouldn't stir something so deep, but it would be a lie to say that it didn't. However, as strong as that pull was it was dwarfed by the sight of Bloom walking away.
"Howard!"
What was this! Some Beetlejuice effect! Howard hadn't spoken to Falentra in ages yet here she was approaching him and calling his name. He would pause and turn towards her, his red eyes locking with hers. Falentra didn't need to speak for him to know why she had approached. The two knew each other well and as he took her in he would be reminded of why he had fallen so hard for her before. Not only was she beautiful, but she stoked a part of him that others found vile. She could hold and caress that dark streak within him and like no other make him feel accepted for who and what he was. Yet regardless of how strong the full towards her was he knew that she would tip him too far. The balance he had worked so hard for would crumble as the scales were tipped back towards the darkness. Behind him he knew Bloom was walking away and allowing her to do so without protest could hurt his chances at something special. A chance to start a relationship that would nurture all parts of him. Howard took no pleasure in denying Falentra and with a touch of sadness in his expression he would simply shake his head "no" before turning to walk away.
"Bloom!" Howard called out to her, raising his voice above the swell of the crowd. His longs legs carried him towards her as he pushed his way through the throng of gathered students. He would catch her, he would tell her what she meant to him and how he could no longer deny his feelings for her. She would see, she would forgive him. That was his plan, that was his plead to the gods! Yet before he could close the gap between them a figure would approach. One covered in food and blood and potentially smoldering. Just as Howard recognized who he was the spit would hit his face.
There was a brief moment where his mind could barely process that this guy had spit on him, but the fury that followed was searing, white hot. This was the very guy that had bullied and fought his Hufflepuff friends. The same one he had knocked out cold for daring to try him and the one that was about to die for doing something to vile and disgusting. "YOU...." A torrent of expletives left Howard's lips as he cocked back his right fist for a blow to end all blows!
Action: Howard attempts to punch Yefim in the face, unless he is stopped or someone intervenes. Requesting a mod roll please!

Phyllis was not genuinely self-conscious about potential rust on her dancing skills--at worst, she missed a few steps or stepped on his toes, which could surely be laughed off--but she accepted the assurance anyway with an appreciative smile. She was also glad to hear they were alike in dancing tastes. The next minutes were spent twirling across the dance floor, and while it couldn't compare to the feeling of flying, the sensation of air breezing past felt good. This was preferred to standing around, no contest there. "You're making it easy," she complimented back.
Their dancing would end with her ears bombarded by an annoyingly familiar and characteristically loud voice, and while she edged her weight to her toes in eagerness for what his announcement would hold, she was miffed it was Plott doing the announcing. Why not the Hogwarts headmaster? This was Hogwarts' event, was it not? Maybe they had just delegated to the task to Plott, knowing he was the most flamboyant. "Yeah," she confirmed for Maxi--that was him--and the slight annoyance in her tone was mostly hidden by the word being whispered.
And so the champion announcement began, and except in the pauses for emphasis or anticipation or whatever, she could mostly ignore Plott for the excitement of it. Hogwarts was up first, Phyllis transfixed on the paper flying up out of the Goblet of Fire and into Plott's hands. Howard White. She did not recognize the name immediately, but as she followed where many of the cheers seemed to be directed, it clicked. Oh yeah, raw meat boy! Phyllis knew him! He was pretty cool, from what she remembered, so she clapped a little harder. Good for him.
Then it was Beauxbatons. She gave Maxi a light nudge, because this would be him. And... it wasn't, instead a girl she vaguely recalled as winning a broom race. Well, that was okay. Glancing over, he didn't look devastated--good--or elated. The latter was probably more important, since as much fun as it had been to encourage him to put his name in, Phyllis wouldn't have wanted to pressure him into something he genuinely despised the thought of. "There could always be a next time." That wasn't how modern history had been going, but you never knew. "Thanks," she muttered at the wish of luck, because right, Ilvermorny was coming up. She'd been briefly distracted by the past two champions, but the butterflies returned to her stomach now.
She didn't really recognize Durmstrang's champion at all, or Koldovstoretz's, or Mahoutokoro's. And now it was her school. Of course Plott had saved it for last. Of course he was going to have an extra dramatic build-up. Her toes tapped against the ballroom floor through the pause, and she held her breath. Miles Thatcher.
Her face did fall, initially. This was what she'd expected, to not be chosen, but that didn't mean she hadn't hoped, hadn't imagined Plott saying her name. It was only a moment before she bit back the disappointment and joined the cheering, though, because if it wasn't her, then she would certainly want it to be one of her teammates. Miles was cool, he deserved it. At least it wasn't some random person she didn't know.
The contents of a burst bubble of dreams were still lingering beneath the surface, and she was incredibly thankful for Maxi. One, because he was still hyping her up even though the Goblet hadn't chosen her. And two, more importantly, he reminded her of the existence of Flying Torch Tag. If there was anyway that could thoroughly cheer her up, it was the promise of a fun competition, with the added risk of it possibly going up in flames just to spice things up. "Oh yeah, let's head that way." She once again accepted the offered arm. "I hope your broom skills are sharp, or I'm afraid you won't stand a chance." The jesting sarcasm returned, grin making clear the cockiness wasn't completely serious. Really, though, she was pretty good at this flying thing. "Lead the way, Monsieur Mister Maxi. And don't expect any more French, that's like the extent of my French knowledge."

He just wanted to rid the school of one monster. One really blonde monster that everyone thinks is fine because she vomited a few slugs. He did not trust that one bit and he saw the effect of the slug-vomiting spell on the girl with his own eyes. The damage. The physical changes that she underwent following. The mental transformation into something that a casual observer might call 'normal' but the girl was never 'right.' Sure, a part of that was her father's doing, his love of discovery and learning was at the expense of his children. Their 'best' was essentially an empty shell, ready to be filled with whatever wished to inhabit that hollow space. She was never quite human, and this went beyond the part-Veela heritage that shown his uncle's inability to manage his lust. It did not stop at being a half-breed, or failing to carry on their psychic traits, the girl was merely a humanoid shell bereft of emotions and incapable of true attachment.
Indeed, the slugs had been evacuated and he should celebrate whatever victory there was in knowing that she would not become a hag, something exponentially more powerful than the young witch already was. There is something terrible and dangerous about something that could not regret, that simply did. That could not love, or hate but could want. When decisions are not made on an emotional basis, one would think that the decisions would be better but in truth they are simply inhuman. Entertainment can be as viable a want as retaliation for a technical trespass but emotions serve as valuable sources of data, as gauges and she lacked them.
He shook his head to brush the fringe of hair out of his eyes and let out a sigh. He would wait them out, smile and have a good time. They were splitting off for the fire walking soon enough so he just needed to wait them out. Galton would assure Erin that the food was fine, he would know because he was still alive. Galton should know but he did not because he had forgot. Because he had been poisoned time and time again. There was a time where he was the 'Candy King.' He had overdosed on something, he was not sure what was on those candies he ate en masse, only that it broke his mind and he was racked with guilt and concern. He did not know exactly what Vladimir fed him, it was definitely not the stuff that the house elves were putting into the food. The 'trauma relief' as he called it, as the house elves celebrated it. A way of making the things that go wrong seem less... relevant because that day never happened. A hell of a way to cope.
"I know the food is poisoned because my uncle paid for it to happen," she announced and when she did he realized that the girl was simply retarded. Announce a well-kept secret like that and see what happens. What sort of consequences befall you... If he did not kill her, someone else would.
For now however, he just needed to lie. So he laughed, "you are out of your mind." A blatant truth really, with her mayfly attention span that was semi apparent also. "If someone was messing with our food, the way he eats he would not even remember his own name." Well, technically, Galton ate way more sugar than meat and vegetable but that was a technicality for another day.
The Champions would be called out, one by one the names sounded mildly familiar. Not that he knew any of them but he knew -of- most of them. There was of course a pattern to it all and then there was a glaring 'mistake' as the hat called out a pair of names - not purebloods. Did they truly lack a viable candidate for both Hogwarts and Beauxbatons? Howard White, a fifth year and well-known quidditch player as well as dhampir. That had to be a mistake, there might be a small riot in the wizarding community if they allowed a half-breed to compete alongside actual wizards. As for the other one from Beauxbatons, he did not know her, meaning she was either wizard-born or a half-blood. An oversight perhaps? Of course his shrieking cousin was among the 'chosen', he was mad for insisting that he would want it, do the family proud, represent purebloods when he could hardly represent himself in a semi-dignified manner. He was arguing with his 'girlfriend' ...again.
You know what, yeah. Let's get out of here. "Yeah, firewalking and dancing time," Hess agreed. "No need to hang out here," and watch Erin try to make-out with whatever unfortunate lad was drawn in by her part Veela nature. He would get to her later. "I am still attached to my feet but I will cheer you two on."

Kamila had had enough of this stupid tournament. When she had first arrived at Hogwarts Kamila had been filled with wonder. Now however she was filled with disgust. Nothing had happened the way she thought it would she hadn't been selected as Koldovstrovetz's champion, she had not made any friends but rather enemies and now one of them was representing Hogwarts in the tournament, and lastly the whole tournament seemed to again be rigged in Hogwarts's favor. Kamila was sure that she had seen the Mahoutokoro champion walking around Hogwarts in Slytherin robes so why he wondered was he representing Mahoutokoro. The only valid reason Kamila thought was that Hogwarts wanted to get as many of their students in the championship to increase their odds of winning, like last time.
"This school is evil, corrupt, dangerous, and unfair!" Kamila screamed as she aproached the goblet of fire and pushed it off the table where it sat. A second later she realized that she had said that out loud which Kamila had not intended to do. Great now all eyes were on her. Running across the dance floor and into everyone that stood in her way Kamila took the fastest way possible out of that place. Before she turned the corner and left Kamila looked once more towards Bloom. Kamila felt bad for her and hopped that Howard would notice how Bloom was feeling and chase after her. Kamila did not want to witness or be part of any more fifth year drama so she turned and left not waiting to see what happened.

Aryaan's arrival was awesome.
Now he had more Mahoutokoro students with him.
Speaking of which, where had Akira run off to? Hiro hadn't seen him around in awhile. Well, even if they didn't meet up now, he'd see him at the games.
Aryaan's excitement over his boomerang made Hiro grin and he was tempted to rip the item out again. But he didn't want it to go on a rampage again, not right now. The announcements were about to be made and he would draw all their attention onto his boomerang if it went out of control again. It was not something he wanted to do because Mahoutokoro would get blamed for the fiasco. "I'll show you later. Outside." He told him with anticipation for it.
Hiro nodded when Bailey thanked him.
He looked over at the girl when she asked if he knew Mathias.
"Hm? Oh yeah, I do. He's my roommate back in Mahoutokoro." Hiro told her. "He can be a little... cold towards most people. Some might even consider him to be rude, mean and downright evil at times. But he's really not like that at all inside. If people take the time to try and see beneath the words and actions he does, it might reveal there's something decent inside him. But most don't tend to do so."
"They always end up getting the wrong impression of him." He said with a shrug of his shoulders. "Mathias doesn't really help get rid of that impression though, so he's also at fault for that." Hiro said with a sigh and shook his head when Bailey asked if they should interfere between Aryaan & Mathias. "It's fine. As long as Mathias doesn't get his wand out, they should be able to take care of it themselves." He told Bailey.
After all, it didn't look like Mathias was trying to attack Aryaan.
It was strange that Mathias would give up being champion for apparently no reason.
Hiro hadn't seen that coming at all. But he had a feeling it had something to do with Winnie. After all, Mathias had looked fine up until her name had been mentioned. So it must have something to do with her. What that was was beyond him. Maybe Mathias was having second thoughts. But Hiro couldn't stay and try to bother him like he usually would because he had a game to get to! "Will you two excuse me? I must head for the game venue now."
"I'll find you guys later!" Hiro told Bailey and Aryaan.
Without waiting for a response, Hiro headed towards the doors, not wanting to be late.
If he was late, Akira would kill him.

Ducked behind the edge of the buffet table's end, Greta couldn't help but grin impishly to herself at the satisfying thud symbolizing a bread roll well aimed. hands clapped over her mouth, elbows clutching at the sides of her knees, to stop herself from giggling and giving away her position. Which... she realized... she would have to hold for quite some time. Oh Merlin... she really hadn't thought this through. As sneaky as she might—or might not—have been... now that she had successfully landed her mark... she didn't know what to do.
Eyes widening as they fixed straight ahead, she was acutely aware of what was no doubt a certain someone's wandering gaze searching for the source of an assault. Every step that sounded nearby sent a jolt of lightning through her, nearly making her jump on the spot, half expecting it to be his own steps closing in on her. Every shift and dance of a flame or gust of air from the trail of a passing gown made her arms prickle all the more with goose-flesh as she envisioned a shadow falling falling to blanket her in the inevitable dismay of discovery. Her impulse had trapped her there. Even if the boy didn't figure her out right away, she couldn't possibly move from the spot or he would see her and figure it out! Hands slid up her face until they covered it in its entirety, hiding the burning of her premature embarrassment from the world.
A burning that would deepen all the more as a familiar voice spoke out from nearby. Peaking out from between her fingers would reveal the worst case situation. Theo had seen her. And he was looking right at her. His expression seemed amused enough, but the way he bit into the bun he'd picked up off the floor, he may as well have been biting off the rest of her dignity. She could have just died right then and there.
She was so stupid.
An explosive flurry would tear her from her self-deprecating spiral as the table of food blew backwards. Shrieking in surprise, hands flew to shield her head and face as she scampered forward on her knees, tripping gracelessly upon the hem of her skirt for a couple of meters before she could find her footing. Stew sloshed and slopped under foot, another victim of the sudden assault, and her robin's blue dress spotted more than a few splotched of this or that. Spinning on the spot once she'd stumbled a few paces away, white rimmed her irises all over again. The table was a mess. Either the food wasn't up to haughty standards, or someone had decided to escalate the food fight to the level of mass destruction. The beloved contributions lay strewn across the floor like the aftermath of a battlefield, some dishes altogether broken.
At least she hadn't gotten the worst of it, she supposed. An unfortunate few had apparently been hiding beneath the table (she had to suppress a roguish grin as thoughts to why they were hiding under the first place) and were now entirely covered. She may even have felt bad for them or hurried forward to give them a hand were it not for the Theo's rushing towards her to see if she was alright. Hit a boy with a bun, earn yourself his attentions, apparently.
"Y-ye-n...No. Erm. Yes. Yes fine!" Tongue tight and wide-eyed, Greta's mind and mouth refused to work as she stammered out a complete mess of garbledegook. And not the sort that would make sense to a goblin either. Spinning on her feet, she twirled away from him, and just in time to catch wind of some sort of commotion through the crowd that would catch her fraying attention.
Like a little moth to flame, Greta's attention snapped in the direction of the commotion. Bodies of other students blocked her way, but the shouts coming from that direction were familiar. Besides, the odd way that Valentin had told her to stay back made her think they had to be involved some way. Her stomach sank. What if he had been hurt when rushing to Yefim's aid?
"Niff!" she screeched, colour draining from her features until she could have passed as Valentin's own kin. And whether she was calling to him to save her from the predicament she'd gotten herself in with Theo, or out of concern for the Niffler, who could say.
Scurrying forward, she shouldered her way through the bodies of those lingering around, nimbly dodging fancy skirts and snaking her way through narrow openings. An amplified voice sounded as she wove her way through the maze of students, announcing the impending events and those students who would stand to champion its purpose. She paid it little mind, thought occupied with worry about whatever trouble her lot were getting into now. When she finally pushed through the last line of bodies, however, it wasn't Schnell, but another who had fallen victim to an attack.
"YEFIM!" she echoed the announcement, startled by the coincidence. She paused, peering around for the approach of an adult, momentarily thinking that perhaps the fight had been noticed and that Yefim's highlighting was a prelude to adult arrival. But none came, and the fires continued to sheath his figure like some sort of sick coronation. He even seemed to bask in its glow, no evidence of pain on his features. For a moment, admiration stayed her actions. He always spoke in such confidence, like he was owed the world and held no ounce of regret or hesitation for anything he chose to do. It had always seemed reckless to her. But in this moment, she couldn't help but wonder if maybe there was something to it...
But whether he showed it or not, there was no denying the smell of smoke. He could put on a brave face, but surely he felt the heat. Stumbling forward with trembling hands, she reached to pry her wand from the folds of her dress. Even as she moved to help him, though, he had begun to wander off. Who just lets the flames keep burning?! It was like chasing a dog who'd stepped into the brambles and was trying to escape them by running further into them. Students had started moving as well, the announcements setting the hall into a fresh state of flurry as people moved to congratulate peers, or flee embarrassment, or do whatever it was that they were doing. A cry of exasperation left her lips as she began chasing after the others, weaving through the sea of bodies all over again and more than once losing them momentarily in the process as torsos and shoulders blocked her view.
When finally she emerged from the crowd, she was met with the view of a larger, rather pale looking boy winding up to take a strike at Yefim. She didn't know Yefim had it coming to him. Wasn't privy to their history. All she saw was her friend about to get decked. Dread washed over her, reigniting a fear that set off her fight or flight mechanism. Without thinking, she flew out her wand, eyes wide and hand tremulous as she shrieked in an octave higher than usual, "Flipendo!"

@Kim Sato as HiroWhen the new boy, Aryann, came over and introduced himself, he said yellow but quickly got distracted by Hiro’s boomerang. He then started taking to Hiro, asking if he could throw it. Hiro gratefully said that it could happen, but it would be outside. Making a mental note to not go watch that, Bailey felt a hand pull her back. She had been watching Aryann be caught by the neck by the champion, Mathias. The hand was Hiro’s, and he had puller her out of the path of a girl’s vomit. She said her thanks, and watched as Aryann came to join them again.
Bailey then watched as Hrio walked away, leaving her with Aryann. Hiro had said that he had to go to the game venue- she had to remember that for later if Aryann asked.
Walking up to Aryann and Mathias, she tapped Mathias on the shoulder and waited for him to recognize that she was there. If or when he did, she said a few seconds later, “Excuse me. Is there a reason you have Aryann by the throat?” Bailey was being polite, as always.

Examining the food on the tables, a certain young student of house Thunderbird did not notice a certain Durmstrang girl sneaking up on him, until something that turned out to be a piece of bread hit his shoulder, which he barely managed to catch as it bounced off of him. Confused, he spun around, looking for whoever had thrown it. It was only when he looked at the table behind him that he noticed that something was off. A smirk appeared on his face all on its own, and he crouched down to look at Greta under the table. "Thanks!", he called out, holding up the bun and took a bite.
Their last meeting had been a matter of discomfort Theo wasn't used to and he absolutely had thought back to that day more often than he cared to admit. The more it relieved him, that she now didn't feel too awkward around him to... well, throw food at him. That was a good sign, was it not? He decided to take it as one.
Just when he was about to say something- anything really to keep the situation as fun as it was to him right now, the table seemed to blow up. Theo's heart stopped as he saw Greta duck, shielding her face with her hands when the table flew away over her head.. He didn't even hear himself shouting her name, before he realized what he was doing, he was on his feet and hurried over to the other girl, his heart pounding twice as quickly now. Was she alright? Please, let her be alright.
The floor was slippery from the food that was suddenly everywhere and also Greta was covered with some of it. "Damn it, are- are you okay?!", Theo asked, when he reached her, his hands raised but not daring to touch her- what if she had been burned by the food, did anything hot hit her?
Greta seemed fine enough, soon she was moving again, shouting names of her classmates. Theo stayed down but by her side now, looking around too, for people who he had never seen before.
The Ilvermorny student wasn't sure where she was heading until he spotted a scene among what seemed to be the just announced champions. And it took him another moment to understand that the boy who was about to take a beating was this Yefim, Greta had been shouting for. In those seconds, Greta had already raised her wand and cast a spell at the other student. The big Hogwarts one, who looked like he had seen a few more years than the two of them. "Greta, no!" Now Theo did reach out to take her arm, eyeing the Hogwarts student. Was he aggressive? Would he turn his attention to Greta or continue to beat up her friend?
Whatever it would be, Theo had never really been the type who had the patience to overthink his actions. Instead he as well raised his wand at the boy, not to attack him, but hoping to stop him. "Immobulus!"

"I know the food is poisoned because my uncle paid for it to happen. You forget, you forget you forgot even, the food is dangerous. Also, how many times do you all need to be dosed with love potion at a party."
"Wh-" Serena started, trying to process the words that were being said. Erin's words just led to more questions, rather than providing any sort of answers, "Your uncle?". What for the love of Bodrig did she mean by her uncle paying for it?! And what- "You are out of your mind. If someone was messing with our food, the way he eats he would not even remember his own name."
Right. Right, of course. That would be true... If the food was poisoned, they would all have been poisoned by now and she was pretty sure she was not poisoned, right? Though, Erin was right about the love potion. But that was one time! It was just a weird mishap, surely! At least, she tried to convince herself of that but the doubt was starting to sink in. Talking to Erin Ryan certainly made her more paranoid, if nothing else. With a slightly nervous chuckle, she nodded, "Yeah, I guess, that's true. We just- Let's not talk about that love potion incident though-" She added, shooting a look towards Hugh for a second before quickly looking away. Right, now was the worst time to look at him. That was... stupid tea party.
"Bloody, maybe" In her innocence and ignorance, she kind of missed what Erin actually meant. Or rather, her brain heard what it wanted to hear. Erin obviously just agreed that he was bloody amazing, of course - what else would she really say! At least, that was what Serena's brain heard in all of her own giddiness.
"Bloom was no Falenta" Wait- what- Tilting her head, she quirked an eyebrow towards Erin, wondering how that was even connected. That was obvious. They were two very different people. For starters, she had walked into this event considering one a friend and the other someone she highly disliked but tolerated for Howard's sake. It now seemed like... both may have fallen into the same category though. If anything, Falentra was better in Serena's opinion - and as the thought entered her mind, she instantly felt a little sick and disliked it. She should not think so badly of Bloom, she was probably wrong for starters. It did not stop the thought entering her mind though, after what she had seen. No, she had to be wrong. Bloom wasn't like that. There was no way.
Luckily, Erin kept talking and it distracted Serena enough to stop thinking about the awkwardness of that relationship, "Sounds like a vampire name, maybe his mom," Wait wha- "Isn't she... in your house?" Serena asked Erin, pretty sure that both of them were Slytherins. Since it seemed like Erin had no idea, "Falentra Black. Pretty sure she isn't a vampire. Her family is far too pureblood for that, I'm sure," Serena added, judging by the fact that her brother was actually friends with her. There was no way he would consider friending a vampire.
"Yeah, he is going to get himself killed. Lucky bastard."
Serena shook her head as though to disagree. Admittedly, she was worried of that very thing. How could she not be worried? She worried about everything. She lived her life in a constant state of worry, really. It was exhausting. But she also believed in the boy, far more than he realised. He would be fine. He was strong and capable. What caught her attention though was Erin's choice of 'lucky'. Did she really- After the earlier reason she gave for putting her name into the goblet, Serena could not help but frown at it. But Erin changed the conversation soon after and it was not something Serena wanted to bring up with the boys around either - or really, anyone else.
"Who the hell is Yes-from Rummage-tag? And if I am special, why the hell aren't we making out!" "Shouldn't you know who he is, Miss Special?" Serena teased, wondering how Erin didn't know him. Why would the guy have picked her if they had not known each other? She did not bother to correct the pronouncation but... there was something familiar about the name. Why did it sound so familiar? She could not recall or put a face to it right now but perhaps they had met. Maybe once she saw his face, she might have remembered why.
The truth was that they had met. Several times. None of these times were pleasant and he was one of the few people Serena genuinely hated with all of her being. But she recognised his face, not his name. Yes-from Rummage-tag did not sound like a name she could place, anyway.
But in any case, it was time for the firewalking. Serena tied her duputta over one shoulder and by her hip to prevent it from moving around too much.
"What Pizza? I can hold the rat while you get pizza I guess. I need to make out with whoever this guy is. I can take the guard rat. If I find pizza I will get you some. Probably should not eat pizza and walk on fire."
She could not help but smile at the response. "No- I mean- his name is- you know what, it's all good. You're right. Definitely should not eat pizza and walk. Here, take care of him though. He's my best friend," She responded, deciding not to even bother clarifying that his name was Pizza right now. It would probably just add more confusion to the situation and she had to go do this firewalking thing. Besides, Erin offered to take care of him anyway so that was fine.
With that, Serena handed over a piece of her heart to Erin. She hesitated for a moment before putting her trust and faith in the Slytherin. They were officially friends. At least, from Serena's point of view. The Slytherin might not have realised it but this was the greatest form of friendship and trust that Serena could offer someone. For what it was worth, she really did believe Erin was trying her best. She said some odd things but... she seemed to come from a decent place. It was weird to think this was the same girl that had made her cry years before - maybe she was just nicer now.
"Where is Yet-him, I need to make out with him!"
"Go have fun with uh your make out buddy, I guess," Serena replied with a light chuckle, not entirely sure how else to respond to that. Why was everyone else in her year so comfortable with kissing randomly? She freaked out at the thought of kissing someone and yet, everyone else seemed so fine with it. There had to be something wrong with her but that was thought for another day. For now, it was firewalking time.
"Yeah, firewalking and dancing time. No need to hang out here. I am still attached to my feet but I will cheer you two on."
Blissfully unaware of what he was thinking, Serena nodded happily - pleased that he seemed to be happy to support them in the activity and get involved in the spirit of the celebration. It was a dance, after all. Perhaps they had just gotten off on the wrong foot. Perhaps he was not so bad, after all. It was a foolish act born out of desperation and fear, surely. Yes, that made sense. He would not have followed through with it. He was just trying to stop her from turning. Right. She had just judged him too soon. "I'm Serena, by the way. Serena Towers," She introduced herself to the boy, realising that she had not actually having ever done that. She only knew his name by the fact that Galton had called it out so loudly.
As she exited, she ignorantly missed the drama happening between said "Yet-him" and her crush. She would not have left if she knew.

Midspring Celebration
Jack donned a simple muggle suit of a black jacket, white shirt, cream-colored vest, and black pants. To accessorize, he also wore a cream-colored tie and a cream-colored rose as a boutonniere with a pair of shiny black dress shoes to complete the ensemble. Despite his fancy clothing, however, this was the first ball that Jack had ever attended on his own. He had no one to match and therefore had put little thought into what to wear because he didn't care too much about what anyone thought of him. He had come to the Midspring Celebration out of curiosity and in hopes of spending time with a few people he actually enjoyed the company of.
There was the Hexwizard Tournament the school was buzzing about, but Jack wasn't about to get riled up over some dangerous event and certainly didn't plan on participating. He wasn't sure whether he thought those who had entered their name into the Goblet of Fire to be fools or to be incredibly brave. Maybe a little of both. Whatever the case, he wondered if anyone he knew would have been picked by the goblet that night. He would have to remain and see.
As Jack had arrived a little later than most to the party, most people had already gone through the Great Hall and headed outside to the Midspring Festival, he expected. The food was in the hall, but Jack wasn't all that hungry at the moment. He was much more eager to see a familiar face and hurried through the castle to make his way outdoors, barely stopping to admire the flowers and banners boasting their schools and countries.
