Nicky stood nervously by the firewalking course, running from one end to another, checking if everything was in order. She had spent many long hours planning the course and twice as much time making it a reality. The girl was feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety at the same time. She was hoping the challenge would go swimmingly.

She didn't have much to worry about, the person she chose to be watching the course, a random Ravenclaw girl, seemed to have it all under control. She was holding a small notebook and a quill at the ready, preparing to calculate the participants' points.

Nicky looked over the course once again. Everything was in its right place and she couldn't help but admit that it was beautiful. The ground between the two checkpoints was covered in flaming legos of all colours and sizes - Nicky would have taken part in the challenge herself if she didn't think it was a bit unfair, since she was the one planning it and knew what every inch of the course would be like. She jumped up and down in excitement, ran a few more circles around the firewalking course and glanced at the participants. She hoped they would like it. Would they like it? She didn't really think about it before but what if some of them had any past trauma related to stepping on legos? She could totally see that happening since she had two little cousins and knew how painful it felt. What if everyone would hate the legos? Maybe it was not too late to replace them with coals, but no, that would be boring and where would she get so many coals five minutes before the competition began?

Nicky wiped her extremely sweaty palms on her skirt and looked at the Ravenclaw girl who was given the honours of observing the challenge. She nodded at her, too anxious to form a coherent sentence and ran off. She was too nervous to look. Meanwhile, the girl in charge inhaled as much air as she possibly could and yelled at the top of her lungs:
"FIREWALKING CONTEST PARTICIPANTS, GET READY!!!!!!"
Weird. Maybe she was from a military family.

OOC information:
1. There are three rounds in this challenge: walking to the end, returning to the starting point and then walking the course all over again. Participants walk the course one at a time.
2. For each round, three checks will be performed: Composure check (Stamina), Perception Check (Wisdom), then a Challenge Check (Evasion).
3. Each round, you can choose to perform one of the following actions:
- Prepare for Pain: Raises stamina +3 for this round
- Calm Your Mind: Raises wisdom +3 for this round
- Stretch your Body: Raises evasion +3 for this round
4. The person with the most points in the end wins.
5. DO NOT use actions other than the ones listed above.
6. I don't know if it's even possible to cheat in this challenge but any cheating will result in a player being removed from the course. Any rule breaking will result in disqualification as well.
7. Your first post should be your character getting ready to walk the course - stretching, staring at legos in horror, etc. Don't perform any actions until the next round.

Kim set foot onto the Firewalking Obstacle Course and his lips twitched.

It looked beautiful.

He could tell someone, or various people, had spent quite a lot of time creating the course.

Upon entry, Kim noted a girl sitting nearby with a small notebook and quill on her lap, most likely waiting for the game to start to write down points.

The fact that the 'fire obstacle', at least for the first round, would be of flaming legos was interesting. Kim vaguely recalled the objects as being some kind of muggle game for kids. It was intriguing to see them, even if they were covered in fire at this particular time. He didn't know if the girl sitting with the notebook and quill had been the one who had called out for participants, or if it was the other girl there. But it seemed as if both of them were in charge.

Kim glanced over at Sophia.

"How are you faring? We should stretch our legs out and prepare ourselves mentally for the challenge." He advised, just in case Sophia was staring at the course.

He took a seat on the ground and stretched out his legs, taking his time to relax and unwind a little. First one leg and then the other. Kim leaned down over one leg, stretching his arm out and then repeated the process on the other side stretching both his legs and his arms. He was used to stretching before martial arts and other sports and activities he'd done in the past. So this was quite normal for him to do. Kim looked over at Sophia again to see how the girl was.

Sophia's eyes widened at the expanse of LEGOs spread before them. Yes, the fire was terrifying, and it would hurt like the dickens, but beyond that pain, there was a pain almost infinitely more excruciating: LEGOs. Either whoever set this course up was a pureblooded wizard and had no practical experience with the tiny bricks, or they were a complete and utter sadist.

Her lip trembled as she stared at the fiery bricks of doom. She covered her mouth with a single hand to hide her horrified expression. Kim was going to pay for signing her up for this. She vowed it. He would rue the day.

She glanced over at the traitor to notice he was stretching and she was divided between kicking him in frustration and frowning in jealousy at his ability to stretch his legs before the challenge. Stupid dress.

Sophia did what little stretching her modesty would allow - just a few squats and stretching her back and arms - and shot Kim another glare.

"How are you faring? We should stretch our legs out and prepare ourselves mentally for the challenge."

The urge to kick him was back in full force. Yes. There would be much day ruing in his future.

"Me? Oh, I'm faring just fine. The boy who just violated me signed me up for this obstacle course of pain. Just dandy," she said in what she hoped was a smooth, sarcastic response.

She continued her glare at him as she took off her sandals and rotated her ankles to loosen them up. If she glared at him enough, maybe she would eventually intimidate the boy. That would be nice.

Hadashi entered the firewalking obstacle course area with little hesitation. He was already irritated that, of all people, Aryaan Shamsi was selected as the Hexwizard champion for Mahoutokoro. He was far and away the best choice, and yet it selected a first year troublemaker like Shamsi? Hmph.

Whatever.

There was more than a single way to bring honor to Mahoutokoro. And this firewalking thing that Hogwarts had set up seemed more than sufficient for that purpose.

Upon arriving, Hadashi saw that there were not coals present. Instead, someone had thought it smart, or funny, to have them walk on flaming LEGOS barefooted.

Having stepped on legos in bare feet before, Hadashi had to wonder what kind of sickening person had thought of this. Not only legos, but FLAMING ones.
.....No matter. Hadashi would show that he was more than capable of handling something like this. He was one of the best duelists in Mahoutokoro. Surely some foot torture wouldn't pose that much of a challenge. No matter how sadistic or extreme it seemed to be.

Slipping out of his Zori sandals, Hadashi began to strategize. The best approach, he felt, was to run it as fast as he could, and finish. He could deal with intense pain AFTER the course was complete.

It was finally time for the games to begin, Jay had bitterly walked over to the firewalking obstacle area. The Wix now lightly smelled of butterbeer since their skirt was still stained from when a student 'attacked' them back in the courtyard. Jay could not quite remember a spell or charm for cleaning the wet stain so they simply hoped the fire from the fire walking obstacle could quickly dry the spot.

Jay looked over the course, it looked quite impressive and beautiful. They had wondered who was the one that organized this event, though that question was answered as soon as a booming voice yelled out. The green-haired Griffindor looked over to see a seemingly younger student, wow... those lungs are strong... they thought.

Within the blazing floor fire, there were some colorful specks, Jay looked closer and realized those colorful specks were little plastic blocks of sorts? They looked vaguely familiar, what could they possibly be? They were small and had an odd array of bumps on one side. The Wix could have sworn they've seen them before, were they dangerous? Perhaps these little blocks were a secret trap, who knew what lies within these little blocks. The thoughts terrified Jay, they took deep breaths and checked their shoes. As far as they knew, they were allowed to wear shoes. A pair of cotton socks and old converse would surely help a little with the pain? A new scary thought passed through their mind, never mind if someone else got caught on fire but what if they did?! Jay sighed and proceeded to stretch their legs.

I’m back. Jay or Deplorable ooc. Owls open for threads.

Arriving in the grounds for the game, Charles eyed the area excited for a chance to walk on fire.

Sliding his hands into the pockers of hus jacket, glancing toward the host of the game who seemed perky and over bubbly as he leaned toward his friends and spoke"let's hope this isn't rigged for the hogwarts students again like last time," a nod toward each as he looked about at the others. A small group. Charles cracked his knuckles as he thought of Yefim... again.

His mind not slipping from the durmstrang champion. Imagining the look on his face when he was announced. Charles bit the inside of his cheek, the tournament was suppose to be his moment. His time to show his worth and importantance, that he can be someone and could bring himself glory without his family. That he could be someome and that wasn't destined to be.... for Yefim is the champion...

Charles looked over and saw the student whom he threw butterbeer at, sending him a cool head nod as he imagined throwing a rock at him or a exploding bonbon. A thought. Looking back toward his friends as he nodded toward them looking for a moment of peace- well a fun moment at the ball.

What Galton had expected firewalking to be was anyone’s guess, but it was definitely not what he saw before him. Peculiar bits that lay on fire seemed like an odd choice, but who was young Lansdale to call things odd.

While fire was nothing new to the seasoned duelist, he knew that he’d like some of his clothes saved from its effect. There was stripping to do! He’d start with his shoes, then the socks under them. For any observers, like Serena and Hess, they would see clean socks, not a hole in the socks. Hess would surely be impressed, and understand why Galton wouldn’t want them burned. After that came his cloak; it was new, and he’d like to keep it intact if he could.

Having lost the necessities Galton would start tucking his dress robes in wherever possible so nothing was hanging too low. His sleeves would be hiked up to his shoulder, exposing his noodle arms to the elements. He’d make sure to tuck away the dangly bits that hung around his neck, and remove the hanging pair of dancing boots. It was tempting to try and wear them across the fire, dance his way over, but Jürgen would need them later. His plate of food was the final component to the pile before it was complete.

Having physically prepped himself, he walked over to the starting area. Galton had no real idea what he should expect from the course, not how painful it would/could be at least, so he’d just stare at the flames and snack on the sugary dessert he’d grabbed off his plate before putting it down. Wouldn’t be fun if he wasn’t full of sugar.

When Cassie arrived at the firewalking course, the first suprise was that there weren't any coals. She'd expected a typical hot-coals affair: she was pretty sure she knew how to deal with that with the minimal amount of pain. Cassie's papa had told her once that the soot on the top of the coals shielded the walker from most of the heat while still letting it look impressive. Instead of that, though, there was... "Lego?" Like many Muggle and muggleborn children, Cassie had many happy memories of playing with Lego. However, she'd never known that the little plastic bricks were flammable - she'd always figured they'd just melt. And yet, here it was: a racetrack made of them, with them all set on fire. Maybe they'd been magically treated to be aflame rather than melt.

Then Cassie realised something else. These were Lego bricks. Lego bricks connected to each other via little protruding circles on top that snapped into their opposite on the other brick. These bricks weren't connected, which meant that... "This is gonna hurt."

Charles pointed out that the games at the last Blossom Ball had been rigged for Hogwarts students, and hoped this one wouldn't be the same. "Yeah," Cassie agreed, remembering the maze at the myth-themed ball. As they'd gone through the maze, the participants were asked questions about magic that was presumably on the Hogwarts curriculum. Cassie would probably never know if it had been on the Beauxbatons curriculum, though, because the questions were asked in English and (despite English being Cassie's first language) all the French school's classes were taught in - surprisingly enough - French. Cassie could translate pretty much any common Muggle word, but when it came to the names of magical creatures she was lost.

Upon Charles' arrogant statement, Cassie rolled her eyes and flexed a nonexistent muscle. "Ready to lose to the racing champ, you mean."

Serena followed Galton towards the firewalking course, looking back for a moment to see Pizza Rat. It was odd for her to leave the little fellow with someone else, especially someone she did not know very well. However, she had learned to trust more and there was something about Erin that made her feel like it was a good idea. Perhaps it was just her honesty. Besides, there was no way that she could bring the little brown rat into a firewalking course. He had been put through so much danger and crap already but this was optional. The coals on the course were likely bigger than him. He would have to run so much to get through the course. And if she left him on the side, he might follow her thinking she was in danger.

There were many times when she loved his company. Making him enter the course was not one of them. She exhaled slowly as she looked back towards the course. They had arrived and they were ready. What in the name of Bodrig made her think signing up for this was a good idea? She did not know.

Rolling up her skirt a little, she tugged it in on itself so it was no longer floor length. She really did not want to be caught on fire. Tucking it in, you could see the boots that she had been wearing underneath it from the bottom. Serena had, probably rather smartly, decided to wear a pair of leggings and boots underneath the skirt in case there happened to be another slug fight breaking out at the ball. Luckily, today seemed a lot more calm.

However, she was definitely a little paranoid about the firewalking course now. Why did Erin have to say such worrying things? The paranoia was contagious. Serena exhaled, before sorting out the rest of her clothing. She decided to just take off the duputta - the scarf part of her outfit - that she had tied to her side. It seemed safer to just change into leggings and keep the skirt and scarf to one side.

Wait - did they have to remove their shoes too? She saw Galton doing just that. Exhaling, she followed suit and added her boots and socks to the pile until she was there in leggings and her top. "Why did we sign up for this again?" She asked her 'date', hoping he had a better idea than she did. At the very least, she had not seen Arjan's name on this list, that was the only plus here. Oh gosh, this seemed so foolish.

“Where is it, this way?” Aida asked their owl companion, the desert tawny owl named Scheherazade (or “ZaZa” for short). The tiny bird silently sank its head into a ruff of feathers at its neck as if to hide from the question. The owl was perched on Aida's shoulder, not wanting to be alone, but also wary of how much bounding about the young white mage might soon be doing.

Then they saw them-- two checkpoints constraining a walkway of flaming… shapes of some kind. They were almost like toys, but Aida had never seen such things before. It didn’t make any sense, but then, many things went unexplained to poor inquisitive Aida. The other participants also gathered around, confirming Aida’s suspicion that they had arrived at the right place. Just then, a girl shouted for the firewalking participants to prepare themselves. Aida’s stomach tightened into a knot. What challenges awaited? Was Aida’s dragonscale gown actually in any way fire-resistant, or did the billowing chiffon present more of a fire hazard than the bosom’s scales could compensate for? Deciding they should have known better than to wear something with such loose fuels, Aida was at least satisfied that they had decided to wear some deerskin leather breeches underneath the dress.

Gazing at the flames, Aida knew that this would be the kind of challenge they had been waiting for since New Year’s. Cracking white knuckles while stretching arms high in the air with interlocked fingers, Aida steeled themselves for the obstacle course.
