█A huge grin bloomed on Shanelle’s face when he agreed. “Yes!” She cheered, just as excited as he was. She almost jumped up from her seat. “That’s a great idea!” Shanelle said, her eyes sparkling as she clasped her hands together. Now that they had a plan, it would make exploring so much easier. And Shanelle knows just where to find older students.
“We should go to the Great Hall, a lot of the older students are always there. Maybe we’d be able to find one to help us.” She said, squealing in delight. She was tempted to run straight towards the Great Hall to start off their journey, but for the sake of their conversation, she stayed. She was aware that Louca couldn’t wait either when his voice raised and she heard the urgency in his voice.
“We can start right now!” Shanelle stood up for real this time. She quickly stuffed her sketchbook and stationary into her bag. “So maybe you can teach me quidditch one day?” Shanelle suggested. She counted off the days until they had to leave. “Hm, maybe we can meet again here in two days?” She offered. “I struggle with going fast when I need to, by the time I figured it out, I didn’t need it already." She ranted. She hoped Louca would have a solution to her problem.
“If you want to play volleyball, I’m sure I can gather a group of people who want to play, and playing it in volleyball is a really interesting twist!” She said, once again thrilled at the idea of playing volleyball again, and on brooms. She missed the feeling of teamwork from time to time.
“Oooo!” Shanelle said, laughing upon seeing the smirk on his face. He sure was confident. She exhaled in relief when he said he could help her. He sounded like he could too when he said that. Shanelle was certainly sure she would improve really quick, really fast. She was more than confident. “I’m looking forward to it.” She said cheerfully. She chuckled when he made the joke. “Of course, professor.” She teased. She then realised that they would have to go now if they wanted to spend the rest of the day exploring the castle. “Hey Louca, wanna head to the Great Hall now? If we go now, we might be able to do some exploring today.” She said, offering a hand to him.

Louca laughed, the excitement of Shanelle elevating his to levels that his professors had already come to recognize as dangerous to their sanity. Typically, it meant that he was about to do something foolish or at least very courageous and potentially stupid. Even worse when he had company to bounce ideas off of and increase the levels to that which did not bode well. But in the end things worked out. Usually without major injury or disaster. Okay, well usually….it wasn’t like he aimed for trouble, it just seemed to find him.
Moving away from the trouble that was likely to ensure, Louca nodded. ”Of course! You’d know best, and honestly probably better than just running around the halls asking if they were first years or not.” Louca laughed, imagining them running up and down the halls, asking random students if they were first years or not. It would certainly be an interesting way to get started, he would admit, but would likely take more time to accomplish.
Louca was slightly surprised by Shanelle standing, not expecting her to be as raring to go even though the excitement was obvious. They were going to be great friends, as both were enthusiastic and raring to go with little prompting. “Of course! I’m sure that works for me. Excellent, that will be the first thing we get started with then. That would be very frustrating, and detrimental to playing for sure.” Louca nodded as best he could while looking up, debating whether he was quite ready to jump up yet or not.
“Excellent! Think we could do that after quidditch practice or should we aim for a couple days after? You’d best know who to ask here, but I could certainly ask some of my friends to join us as well.” Louca’s mind immediately jumped to Jamie, who he was sure would love the chance to run around and hit a ball. Not to mention if they could pull it off in the air, he would certainly enjoy it. Plus, again, excellent practice for quidditch. “If we do play in the air, then that’s another opportunity to practice. Plus, everything on brooms is much more fun.”
Louca just grinned, glad to have solidified plans and have the opportunity to share his skills, as well as keep his from going rusty. Louca chuckled at the comment, “Well, then, better get searching. Only two days to find one!” Louca added.
Grabbing Shanelle’s hand, he pushed himself with a heave off the ground, making sure to keep most of his weight in his legs, rather than pulling too hard on Shanelle. ”That sounds awesome! I’m definitely ready to go!” He grinned and turned to the castle, starting at a decent pace without running.

█”That would be extremely funny.” She said, laughing. The idea of running around halls asking people if they were first year sounded absurd and ridiculous. It might be fun though, once she thought about it. But then it would not be a good way to spend time.
“Great!” She said, the grin on her face booming bigger. Louca showed surprise, probably at her enthusiasm. She knew she didn’t really look like the type of person to explode in excitement like that, but she gets hyped up easily.
“Do you think you’ll be able to find people who might be interested?” Shanelle asked, her expression immediately focused. She ran a list of people she knew, but still wasn’t sure who would join. “I think we might be able to go for…” She stopped to think again, counting the weeks on the day. “March 25? On Friday?” She asked, hoping he didn’t have plans already. “I don’t know that many people who might be interested, but I am sure we could always put up a sign and ask people to come.” She said, suggesting.
’It would certainly!” She said, as another idea popped into her mind. “OH! Maybe we can gather all the people who want to make the team next season, and give them this opportunity to practise as well as have fun!” Shanelle said, her voice raised slightly as her excitement bubbles. She was pretty proud of this idea.
She nodded earnestly at the promise of meeting back at the quidditch pitch for her first official training. “Will do.” She said, already listing the things she could do in preparation. She’d have to exercise more to train up her agility, strength and endurance. She was more than excited.
She held on to his hand and heaved him up as Louca stood up. “Yes! Let’s go!” She cheered, as she followed behind him. Shanelle noticed that he kept a decent pace, and smirked. She took off running, taking over Louca in seconds. She could run at a pretty decent speed, but she was pretty sure that Louca could run faster than her. So she gave her best and hoped that she’d be able to gain ground before he realised.

Louca’s laugh was joined by Shanelle, and he nodded his head emphatically. “Right? We’d likely be shooed right along for the most part.” Louca had been shooed along before when he was on one of his more interesting shenanigans, and he definitely did not let that affect him. After all, as long as he was having fun and not hurting anyone, why shouldn’t he? He had also had his fair amount of laughs and interested people. Plus it made for some excellent stories to share with people. And it could also make for some interesting ice breakers.
“Great! I’m excited to get started.” Rubbing his hands together, he looked the picture of eagerness, his excitement matching or even exceeding Shanelle’s. He was not going to get out of shape, and honestly it would likely make for some excellent skill building to help train another person. And the whole improving his skills, which would in turn hopefully increase his chances to get up to first string.
Nodding emphatically, Louca answered positively, “Yes! I’ve already got at least one person in mind, and I’m sure I could rustle up a few more as well.” His first thought had of course been Jamie, but he was sure there were several other people he had met that would be just as interested in flying. Not to mention those involved in the quidditch team would likely be interested if only to practice skills. “Sure, that sounds good, directly after classes or later in the evening? I’ll start asking around. I’m free most days honestly.” Louca hadn’t really had that much time to make plans and most of the one’s he had tentatively made for exploring or adventures were ones he had set for himself and thus were very flexible. “Sure, want to make the posters together or you do a few, and I do a few?” Louca wasn’t very creative but honestly as long as it had the basic information the posters should be fine. It wasn’t that hard to make sure the date, time and activity were included.
Louca chuckled. “Great minds think alike, I was already considering asking at least some of the current ilvermorny team, but I definitely think that asking those who would be interested in joining the teams would be a great idea! Give them a chance to work on some skills in a non-pressure way.” Louca was getting more excited about that. After all the Ilvermorny team already kind of knew each other and spent time together. Giving others an opportunity would make more sense.
He was looking forward to their session, and Shanelle seemed like she’d be an excellent student. She seemed ready to put in the work and he just really had to refine it and direct her efforts. Easy enough for him to do as he liked talking so this was just more directed talking.
Laughing aloud as Shanelle took off, passing him by fairly quickly, he took a step forward, stumbling once before settling into a quick run, his legs and arms pumping as he did his best to overtake Shanelle, but struggling with his breathing as he couldn’t bring himself to completely stop laughing, overjoyed with the competition.

█It would be quite silly to do that, and even sillier to be shooed away, Shanelle thought to herself. Her laughter turned into giggles. “Or they might just roll their eyes!” She suggested, thinking about her own reaction if that had happened to her. She wouldn’t have shooed someone away, but the eyeroll was certain.
“I feel like I’m way too hyper right now.” She whispered, trying to keep the excitement from completely taking over her body. Shanelle could tell that Louca might be even more excited by how he was rubbing his hands together. It had certainly been a while since she had gone on an adventure, and maybe it was the same for Louca. She decided to ask. “It’s been a while since I went on an adventure, when was your last time?”
Shanelle chided herself for not mentioning the number of people needed. “There’s 6 players on the court on each side, so there is a maximum of 12 players on the court at all times. There are usually 1 or 2 more players on each team as extras, and they can be rotated onto the court too. As if we can find at least 12 players, we could play this. All that was for traditional volleyball, of course.” She went on, perhaps speaking a little more than needed, but she wanted to make sense. “In that case, we should go ahead and start with the poster. Maybe after dinner today?” She said, mentally checking her schedule to see if she had any plans after dinner.
“I say we practise after class. That way we still have some sort of motivation to get it done, and then we can relax later in the evening!” She suggested, knowing fully well that there was no way she could get up and practising flying if she had already been resting.
“I’m glad you think I have a great mind.” She teased, laughing. “Even the Ilvermorny team needs this kind of practice?” She was surprised, thinking that all the players on house teams are already good enough without this kind of practice. “I’m sure this is going to be a great chance to get everyone to improve their skills.” Shanelle was pretty hyped up about the quidditch practice.
She wasn’t sure how much she could learn from Louca, but she had some confidence in her learning abilities as well as his teaching abilities. She believed she could improve her skills by quite a bit. She was determined to make it on the team.
Shanelle spared a moment to glance at Louca who still ran behind her, he stumbled but quickly caught his pace. She pushed harder as the Hogwarts castle neared them. She began to feel her limbs tiring out.

Louca couldn’t help but laugh along with Shanelle, not even sure what he was laughing at yet, but smiling largely, as she mentioned the rolling eyes. Rolling his own, he struck a pose, holding it for a moment before saying “But that’s what all the cool kids are doing!” Louca snorted as he burst into laughter, wrapping his arms around his middle and learning forward
.
He stopped and took a breath, trying to keep from crying he had been laughing so hard. Taking another breath, he blew it out, almost missing the words of Shanelle about being too hyper. “I think we’ve both passed that point. But I mean what’s wrong with that?” Louca’s grin remained on his face. After all, something interesting could happen when hyper. Goodness knows too much energy usually meant lots of fun. ”hmmmmm….. maybe like a couple of weeks ago? Mind you it was more chill than my usual adventures. Louca tapped his chin. “What did you do last time you had an adventure?” He was always interested in hearing stories, and getting ideas from others.
Nodding enthusiastically, Louca brushed one palm against the other. “Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. After supper sounds good! Where did you want to meet? I might need a map depending on where you want to meet.” Louca chuckled slightly, remembering the first time he had tried to explore the castle. It had certainly been interesting, and he was sure that he would have been absolutely lost if he hadn’t occasionally stumbled across other students and ghosts.
“Excellent idea! And then we can shake off the cobwebs from school.” Louca was excited to get started, and it would be something to look forward to and keep him from falling asleep in class. True, he hadn’t done so yet, but occasionally it was a close call. It wasn’t that the topics weren’t interesting, it was more so that Louca wanted to be in motion. Sometimes he’d found his leg bouncing throughout class, only pausing when he noticed the motion, and always restarting as soon as he stopped focusing on his leg.
“Of course! There’s always someone with more talent or whose practiced more that can take your spot if you’re not careful.” Louca waved his finger in Shanelle’s direction, making sure she knew he was serious. Even when you were on the team, you still had to work to keep your place. It wasn’t like getting your place once meant you’d keep it. Sure, everyone had bad days but if those bad days outnumbered the good, then you could be removed from the team or demoted to second string.
Pushing himself harder, he moved closer and closer to Shanelle, determined to surpass her even as the Hogwarts castle grew larger.

█Shanelle bursted out laughing, Louca was truly funny. The pose he had struck was extremely hilarious. She took a second to copy his pose, making her own variation. “Well, I’m cool too!” She held it for a second so that he could admire it, before folding over in laughter as well.
“A couple of weeks? Hm, that sounds interesting enough, what kind of adventure did you venture on?” She said, sounding jolly. “Hm, the last time?” She thought back, she felt like she hadn't had an adventure in a while. “Well, I do remember pranking two Slytherins in the hallways once. But that was a while ago, maybe a few months.” She said, kind of missing the times where she would hang around the corridors just to pull a prank on someone.
Shanelle smiled, “Great! We can meet at a place where you don’t need a map, what about the quidditch pitch? Like the one where we play our official matches?” She suggested, pointing at the pitch to their left. It was quite dark, so she wasn’t sure if Louca could see where she was pointing at. “You know what, I’ll come and get you after supper, what do you say?” She declared, proud of her little plan.
“Ya! We could get some exercise and fun that way!” Shanelle was extremely fond of the idea, sure that it would be a lot of fun. She had been finding a way to get active, and get some exercise for a while now, annoyed by how she’s getting unhealthier.
She looked at the boy with an intrigued expression. “That is true. Is that why you practice so much?” The girl immediately thought about all the practice she would have to go through even after she made the team. She grimaced at the thought. She wasn’t sure what to think about it, the path of a quidditch player would take her a long time.
Shanelle could sense Louca gaining ground on her, the girl tried to push, but found her strength leaving. She mentally groaned, blaming her lack of practice for the reason she was losing. The Hogwarts castle slowly came into view, the girl knew that she would only need to hang on until they get to the castle.

Louca was feeling so amused and glad that he had come out. Shanelle was quite a fun individual, and he was enjoying their conversation even as his sides ached from the laugher she had inspired. Snorting, Louca said “Of course. How could I forget how cool you are!” Louca couldn’t stop laughing, and Shanelle joining him was not helping. Louca did his best to take two deep breaths, the breaths catching as he did so. Holding his breath for a moment he let it out slowly, holding his aching sides.
“Nothing quite as cool. I just was trying to climb the walls quite literally. I had made it up to a decent height but a professor came along and caught me. If they would have given me five more minutes I could have touched the ceiling.” Louca was still smarting a bit over that and was determined to repeat the feat without getting caught. He enjoyed climbing quite a bit and couldn’t resist a challenge so of course the walls of his new home would need to be conquered.
“Oh cool, do you recall what the prank was? I’m always looking for new ideas. Better than doing the same old things.” It was true but he also just liked knowing more about things. He was a bit nosy that way.
Louca nodded with a smile. “I do know where that is! I was there the other day I think it was.” Louca followed Shanelle’s finger, pretty sure that was the same direction he had been exploring a few days ago, and that he had met another new friend there as well.
“Even better! Do you know where the boat is? Not that you could miss it.” Louca chuckled to himself, remembering that there really was only one proper lake on the grounds that he had found so it also wasn’t hard to guess where the boat would be otherwise.
Louca nodded quite seriously. “Oh definitely. I want to make sure that barring injuries that I am always the best I can be. That way at least if I get benched then I know it wasn’t anything I did, and it was someone else who is doing better.” Louca didn’t feel fear but that belief pushed him to train and get better all the time.
Louca was enjoying their foot race, slowing a bit as he approached Shanelle, catching up but not feeling the need to surpass her….at least not yet. Maybe when they got closer to the castle.
