“Read the instructions carefully, try not to miss what I am asking of you. Also for the love of Merlin, please do not plagiarise in my class. If you do, expect your homework to be sent back as a Howler.”

Lucy cringed at Professor Yornikovych's warning about plagiarism. She could just imagine receiving an angry, screaming message from him in the middle of breakfast. That would be so embarrassing, she thought, hunching down in her seat further. She hadn't plagiarised yet - at least, not that she was aware of - but the threat of reprimand alone was enough to make her squirm uncomfortably in her seat.

But would the howler have an accent like he does? She grinned at the thought that popped into her head, releasing her from her self-punishment for a crime she did not commit. She straightened in her chair and extended her arms over her head, leaning back. Her back popped satisfactorily several times, and she sighed. Most of the students had left while she was needlessly worrying about plagiarism. Some were talking to the professor, and some were being equally slow in gathering their belongings and heading out the door.

She stood, her legs grateful for the movement after the prolonged sitting, and slowly started to shuffle her papers into a messy pile. The Transfiguration professor talked so quickly it was hard to keep up in her notes. She was sure that she had written the wrong thing at least twice and that she would get docked for it on her homework. She sighed in frustration. She would never become head girl at this rate. She simply had to find a way to speed up.

The room became quieter as a few more students trickled out. She was surprised when the professor exited even though students were still in the room. I guess he doesn't have another class for awhile, she thought with a shrug. She gathered her materials into her arms and walked toward the door, only to trip on something that was obscured from her vision. Everything went flying.

Papers. Homework. Quills. But, worst of all, her black inkwell soared through the air in a perfect arc until it hit the ground and shattered, resulting in an ink explosion. Nearby objects were spattered mercilessly. Lucy herself had ink in her hair, and, to her horror, on her notes that she had put so much effort into copying.

"Bollocks," she swore quietly, dropping to her knees, further dirtying her robes in the ink on the ground.

Aurelia was putting her items in her bag. The Transfigration assigned them papers to complete for homework. It was another task on her list. She already had piles of papers stacked up neatly on her table in her dormitory, she needed to complete them soon. The professor stride out of the doorway he seemed to be in a hurry. After all her items were placed neatly in her bag, She stood up ready to leave. Many were already outside in the halls chatting noisily. But as she was at the threshold, the girl in front of her suddenly fell forwards. Aurelia almost tripped on her. Aurelia had found herself with ink splotched over the hem of her skirt afterwards. She was annoyed that the blond girl was so clumsy that she didn't watch where she was stepping, but at the same time, she felt sorry for her. Her textbooks were all covered in ink and her once blond hair was now dark with ink.

She plastered on a fake smile and reluctantly said, "are you alright?" She even extended a hand to help her up. But on the contrary, all she wished to do was to head back to her dormitory and complete her stacks of assignments.

Please forgive my late reply! Life got extremely busy for a few weeks.

Lucy looked up, eyes stormy with frustration. "Does it look like I'm alright?" she snapped. She could only think about those meticulous notes and the now shattered inkwell. She had another inkwell, but it was all the way back in the dormitory. Her next class would start in fifteen minutes. There was no way to sort out her messy parchment, dripping hair, and splattered robes in that time. The normally patient and kind Hufflepuff was irritated and stressed.

She began to gather papers, ignoring Aurelia's offer for a hand. "This is the worst thing that could possibly happen in this moment," she continued seriously, as if the Gryffindor had interest in her plight. "I have a class soon and now I am a bloody mess. I'll have to go to class looking like this, and my notes are absolutely ruined. Ruined," she said again, sitting back on her heels with her papers now collected in a messy pile in front of her. She choked up a little, blinking away tears that pooled in her eyes. While trying to blink the moisture away, she noticed the ink on the Gryffindor girl's skirt.

"Sorry about your skirt," she said gruffly, passing a sleeve over her face to clean up a rogue tear that managed to escape. "I didn't mean to make such a stupid mess," she said, not caring that she was expressing her frustration in a childish manner while picking up her papers and quills. She wasn't quite sure what to do about the massive blotches of ink and shards of glass on the floor.

"What should I do about this mess?" she asked the girl, not wanting to leave the classroom in this state but also aware of her dwindling time until her next class began.

Aurelia was taken aback when the blondie snapped at her. Rude, just rude. The brunette thought. All she did was try to help and this was the kind of response she had gotten. Aurelia clicked her tongue, slightly annoyed when she noticed that her skirt had been splattered with ink as well. It wasn’t such a big deal, she could easy add some bleach and the stain would disappear as if by magic.

The girl desperately tried to save her papers though the words on them already couldn’t be seen as the black liquid splotched the pages badly. The blond girl then began complaining about her loss. It wasn’t Aurelia’s fault was it? The girl sounded as if she was accusing her of her clumsy accident and Aurelia didn’t like one bit of it. The brunette knew that she was taught better than too lash out and unleash her frustration that was boiling inside her ready to explode at any moment. The tall girl bent down, gathering the papers that were scattered around them.

The blond girl strangely wiped her face with her sleeve. Aurelia’s brow furrowed, the last thing she’s wanted to do was to deal with an eleven year old with a tantrum. Oh, why me? The words echoed in her head. A thin stack of papers were now in her hands. Many of the sheets had dots of black around the edges but either than that, they still could be salvaged.
What should I do about this mess?
The girl had asked. Aurelia had no idea what should be done. It was none of her business if she’s chose to leave, but what would that make her? She wasn’t the type who didn’t care, but yet she didn’t want to be involved with the situation any longer. There was a pile of worksheets screaming at her from the dormitory for her to finish them.

Well, the girls lavatory isn’t that far away. There should be toilet paper there which you could use to clean up the ink.” She’s proposed. She crossed her two fingers behind her back, hoping for luck that she’s would be able to leave.

Lucy started shaking her head the moment Aurelia started suggesting the lavatory. "The lavatory is on the next floor down. I have to get to Potions," she said, stressing the last word with raised eyebrows. "You know, in the basement? There's no way I could go down there, and then back up here, and then down to the basement! There's barely enough time on a normal day after class." She glared down at the mess, trying to work through this issue. By now everyone else had long gone, and this Gryffindor and herself were the only two left in the room.

"Hey," she cried suddenly, turning with hope filled eyes to the girl, "I know! You could clean it up.  After all, I'm pretty sure I tripped on your foot or book or something. So we're both partly responsible. And I have to get to class. I've already spent too long here. Please? I really do have to go." She started edging her way around the ink well, grateful to pass off the responsibility. "Like you said, the lavatory isn't too far away. If I'm late to Potions I'm just sure I'll get a poor mark on this lesson and I can't afford that."

She was now on the other side of the puddle, walking sideways toward the door. She looked away from Aurelia toward the door. She could feel the time ticking away, and her urgency made her continually shift closer and closer toward the doorway. "I better start running because I have to get six floors down." She looked back at the Gryffindor girl, fully expecting an agreement to her reasonable solution. Obviously Lucy had somewhere to be, so it was only natural that this other girl could clean it up. She pushed away the feelings of guilt, trumping it with the feeling of necessity. I have no choice, she told herself.
