Sudden Nausea PV Amadea Campbell Closed

A group of boys pushed passed Aurelia while laughing hysterically as they made their way up the stairs. The girl shook her head disapprovingly, they were extremely rude and boisterous. They were running up the narrow stairwell so fast that someone could easily get hurt. She wondered what they were up to.

The girl was already panting by the time she reached the second floor. She had came from the potionology classroom down in the basement, she still had about five more flights to climb in order to get to the divination classroom on the Seventh floor. The class was starting in two minutes and she definitely didn’t want to be late.

Aurelia didn’t like staircases, when she was in muggle England, there were lifts around and she could easily get to the 45th story where her mother’s office was without climbing a step. An elevator in Hogwarts would certainly be useful. On the other hand, her legs were to accustomed to using lifts that they ached when she only reached the 2nd storey. The other students seeemed to climb the stairs with ease.

Her legs ached as she took another step, however, this time, the feeling was weird, it was burning, in fact, her body was heating up.  Sweat began to moisten the top of her head. Aurelia felt as if she was put in the oven alive. She placed the back on her hand on her forehead, it was extremely warm to the touch. How was she suddenly having a fever? Aurelia rubbed her upper lip with her sleeve as it mucus started to dribble down profusely. The girl was alright a few minutes ago and didn’t understand how she was in her current condition.

The divination class had most likely already started and no footsteps could be heard in the narrow stairwell. Aurelia leaned against the cold stone wall with her hand across her waist, she felt her innards flip uncomfortably. The girl scrambled up the stairs hoping to get to the girls lavatory on the fifth floor as the food she ate for breakfast threatened to be rid of.

Amadea hurried down the corridor, checking off things on her planner as she went. She was feeling quite productive today, which wasn't unusual, but she had completed almost all of her homework already. That meant she could spend the rest of the day reading, or hanging out with the very few friends she had. That would be nice, she thought. She had spent so much of her time immersed in her studies that she had barely had time to socialize at all.

That probably explained why she didn't have many friends, she thought. Shaking off the thoughts that were slowly starting to depress her, she turned a corner and almost ran into another girl. She stepped back quickly, shoving her planner back into her bag. As she stepped back, she took a good look at the girl whom she had almost bulldozed. She really needed to be more careful about how fast she went through the corridors, and not reading and walking at the same time.

The girl was leaning against the wall, legs shaking from the effort of holding her body up. Her face looked quite red and sweaty. Amadea wasn't a nurse, but it looked like she was in quite some pain. Maybe she was sick?

"Hi, are you okay?" she asked cautiously, trying to make eye contact with the other girl. "Um. Do you need me to bring you to the hospital wing?" Amadea didn't know what else she could do. She wasn't a medic and she didn't know any spells that cured a fever, so she hoped getting the girl to the hospital wing would be good enough.

The world around her spun, she took another step but leaned back against the wall when she realised she couldn’t. No one was there to help her, she was sick, extremely sick. She was still rethinking constantly, how she got into the situation, how she managed to get so ill. She experienced fever a couple of times in her eleven years but never had felt worse than this.
Hi, are you okay?
a voice asked. She managed to tilt her head up a little. A ginger head girl was standing at the top of the stairs, with her brows furrowed showing signs of concern. Aurelia really didn’t want to bother the girl, she most probably had classes to attend to.

No r-really I’m fine,” she said with her voice coarsed as if she’s was having a sore throat, but her actions said otherwise as she threw up over the steps. She pitied the house elves that would have to clean that up later. She was obviously not feeling well.
Um. Do you need me to bring you to the hospital wing?
the girl asked again. The brunette nodded reluctantly, afraid that if she opened her mouth to speak, she would throw up yet again.

The girl stumbled backward a few steps as Amadea asked if she was alright. After a few long seconds of silence, the girl responded that she was feeling fine. She then proceeded to throw up all over the steps. Clearly, the girl was not feeling okay.

"I really don't think you're okay," Amadea said hesitantly. She wondered how the girl had gotten so sick that she was throwing up in the corridors and could barely stand. She also wondered who was going to clean up the mess. Amadea was a nice person, but she wasn't sure she was nice enough to clean up the puddle of...Amadea didn't want to think about what was in it. Turning away, she focused her attention on the other girl who was nodding her assent to go to the hospital wing. That was good, at least. The people in the hospital wing would know much better what to do to help this poor girl than Amadea did.

The next mission was actually getting the girl to the hospital wing. The hospital wing was on the third floor, so they didn't have that far to go, but Amadea wasn't sure if the girl could walk that far. "The hospital wing is really close," Amadea said. "Do you think you can walk that far?" She pointed down the hallway to the entrance. She tried to help the girl stand; if she couldn't walk on her own, then Amadea could help her support the weight. Amadea just really hoped that the girl wasn't going to throw up on her. She tried to clear her brain from those thoughts and just focus on getting the girl to the hospital wing. After a few steps, the girl looked dizzy and tired. "Um, do you think you can make it?" Amadea asked. They were so close.

Um, do you think you can make it?
the girl had asked. Aurelia's head was spinning. The young girl had never experienced vertigo, but she of course, had threw up many times in her years. The girl tried thinking of other thoughts than throwing up as she made her way slowly to the hospital wings that seemed miles from where they were.

The kind red head was clinging on to her arm supporting her. Aurelia was tall and the poor girl was probably having difficulties in doing so. The steps towards the hospital wing was torturous. Aurelia tried to reminiscence of how she got so sick, maybe the nurse might know the cause of her sudden nausea.

Finally. They reached the threshold of the hospital wing. They were greeted by a nurse who gasped at the sight of the pale girl.
"Oh my, curse of the boogies I suppose... but with a terrible allergic reaction. Sit down, I'll get what you need." The lady had gestured towards one of the white beds.

The other girl had helped her to the bed where Aurelia laid on her back. She felt much better when lying down but her stomach was still twisting uncomfortably. Mucus was still running down her nose and the girl had looked like she had a terrible fever.

"Curse of the boogies, huh, I wonder how I got it..." the girl mumbled.

The stench of...whatever had come out of the Gryffindor's mouth was nauseating. Amadea pinched her nose close for a moment and then waved her arm wildly, trying to move the smell somewhere other than beneath her nose.

Thankfully, they had finally reached the hospital wing and a nurse immediately came over to them. Amadea helped the other girl sit down on a cot and Amadea looked around, taking a seat on the cot adjacent from the girl and the nurse. She was close enough to keep an eye on what was going on and far away enough from the girl in case whatever she had was contagious. Amadea wanted to help, but she really didn't want to be that sick. Ever.

Thankfully, the nurse was able to easily diagnose what was wrong. It was the Curse of the Bogies. Amadea remembered learning about it in Defense Against the Dark Arts. It was a curse that wasn't harmful, if she remembered correctly. If it wasn't harmful, then why was the poor girl sniffling and spitting mucus as though she was having an allergic reaction. Then, the nurse commented about how it was a mix of the curse and an allergic reaction.

Wow, Amadea thought. This girl really had some bad luck. Then she began thinking as the nurse tended to the girl. Wasn't the Curse of the Bogies not to be used outside of class at all? Amadea wondered who had cursed the girl and if she knew who, if she would report them. After all, breaking the rules wasn't okay.

"Do you remember how you got the Curse of the Bogies?" Amadea asked the girl after the nurse had left to go find something.

Aurelia shocked her head as the girl asked the question. She didn’t know how she got the curse. But it couldn’t be by accident. Somebody must have put it on her purposely. The boys! Those rascals who were hastenly running up the stairs laughing. They were most likely the ones who put a prank on her. She would get them sometime.

The nurse came over with a cup of foul smelling liquid and her other hand on a cup of what seemed like water.
Drink this, the water is for you to wash of the taste later. You’d feel much better after that.” She instructed before going back where she came from.

The girl brought the cup up to her lips. It had a terrible odour and definitely wouldn’t taste good. Why didn’t Hogwarts switch thier potions to pill form like how muggles do so it wouldn’t taste that bad. Aurelia felt like she was about to throw up again as she drank the bitter liquid. She rinsed her mouth with the other cup of water after the glass of medicine was empty.

The medicine was taking effect quickly. She didn’t feel that her brain was frying itself anymore. Her dizziness had stopped and she could sit up. The mucus had also stopped running from her nose.

She turned to the girl who was a bed away from her. She was smart to keep her distance. After seeing how sick she was a few moments ago, the girl definitely didn’t want to risk contamination.

I’m Aurelia. Thanks for helping me up to the hospital wing or I would have passed out on the stairs.” The brunette introduced herself.

Amadea's thoughts swirled as the girl shook her head that no, she didn't know who had given her the curse. Amadea knew that not everyone at Hogwarts was here to behave and learn; some people wanted to cause trouble. It still angered and shocked her that anyone could be so rude and obnoxious. It was annoying, and beyond that, degrading to whomever had to receive the torment.

Even though Amadea had never met this girl before encountering her in the corridor, Amadea felt a strong urge to protect her and do her justice. The Curse of the Bogies was specifically not to be used outside of class, unless in dueling. Professor Scheinberg had explicitly said that. Amadea was sure everyone knew that, and whoever had cursed the Gryffindor girl was doing it either out of spite or just because they wanted trouble.

Amadea had no tolerance for troublemakers. She wasn't some kind of robot that didn't know how to have any fun or break rules every so often, but people who had fun at the expense of others weren't people that Amadea liked. She was still mentally fuming as she watched the nurse come over with a glass of water for the girl to drink.

The girl was starting to look a bit better. She was no longer retching, so that was a step in the right direction. She turned toward Amadea and introduced herself. Amadea did the same. "Hello, I'm Amadea," she said. "I would say nice to meet you, however this situation was definitely not one I would want to meet someone in." She managed a small laugh, hoping she didn't sound stupid. "And you're welcome," she added. "It would have been rude of me to see you and not help! How do you feel?"

The girl introduced herself as Amadea. Aurelia had only met very few people like her in Hogwarts. Not many would want to help a sick girl on the verge of throwing up. The people in Hogwarts were better than the students in her muggle school but she didn’t think they were kind enough for that.

“It was definitely an ugly sight to see someone throwing up on the stairs.” Aurelia laughed. She wondered if the house elves would ignore the mess because of the terrible smell. They already seemed very dreadful when she passed by a few while they were cleaning the lavatories. She actually pitied them, their species having to do other people’s work. She had seen a few of them in her relative’s house. They didn’t have muggle technologies like ones Aurelia had in her house which were machines which would clean the entire mansion with just a push of a button. But house elves were beings not machines.

I feel much better. The medicine in that vial is very effective. ” Said Aurelia. Her Father, even though pureblood, worked as a doctor who tended to patients in muggle cities. He sometimes would heal the patients with magic if muggle methods didn’t work. Aurelia wondered if he ever used wizard medication like the one she just drank.

They don’t have medication like this in my hometown,” The girl shrugged.

Thankfully, Aurelia was upright and speaking again. Now that the color had returned to her face and she was no longer puking, Amadea could finally introduce herself and have a conversation. She laughed along with Aurelia as they talked about the events that occurred only moments ago.

"Of course, but I couldn't just walk by," Amadea said. "It would have been rude." There was a lapse of speaking as both of the girls were lost in thought. "I do hope one of the house elves took care of the mess," she said as an afterthought. She felt for the poor elves that were on cleanup duty. It was their job after all, but she still didn't envy them. She wondered if she should go outside and check the corridor, or help them clean it up. Conflicted, she also didn't want to leave poor Aurelia here when she was still recovering. Amadea decided she would stay and check out the mess later.

Amadea was glad the medicine was working. So far, every time she had been to the hospital wing, the medicine or whatever they used to cure patients always worked. It was probably the magical effects, but it amazed and reassured Amadea. Back in the Muggle world, people might have to stay in hospitals for a long time, but here, people came in, were fixed, and left. It was quite nice.

At Aurelia's second comment, Amadea fought the urge to knit her eyebrows. "Where do you live?" she asked. It was surprising to Amadea that medicine wasn't readily available everywhere. Living in London, she got used to everything being available in one small space. It was a large city, but if you searched hard enough, you could find almost anything there. However, it did make sense that medicine wasn't everywhere considering a large majority of the world lived in poverty. It was a thought that made Amadea very sad. She wanted to help everyone all at once, but she didn't know how to do that. Of course she wasn't assuming that Aurelia lived in poverty. She was sure there was some other explanation.
