It was just his luck, to be stuck hunting down the featherhead with what little free time he had, but if he had to go another day with this monster wand he would scream. Forget classes, he'd rather get detention skipping then try to cast even a single spell more with it.

Shoe scuffing at the ground he kicked at a pebble, “Damn it.

She wasn't at the library, the Great Hall, any of the classrooms or the clubs. Not even the west tower turned up any leads, as helpful as some friendly Ravenclaws had been, willing to search as they had for Samantha in the dorms. He breathed out a sigh, head thudding against the cool stone of the castle wall as he thought. The distant sound of birds and chattering of other students as they wandered past him served as pleasant white noise whilst he eyed the clear day. A waste. He was so tired.

Annoying,” he breathed, pushing off the wall, “so annoying.

Internally though? He was just tired; tired and dreading. ‘A break wouldn't be too bad,’ he thought. Just for a little bit.

Lifting the bag off his shoulder felt like a weight off his conscious. The wand and journal inside weighing him down in a way that should have been impossible; guilt, he was sure. Guilt for every opening that cursed diary in the first place. “This really does suck though,” the words were soft, to himself. “Seriously, how hard is it to find a person?” Slumping to the ground, back against the fountain's side, his head thunked against its edge with a dull sort of ache, just shy of actually painful as he stretched out a leg. Wrapping his arms around his bent leg he rested his chin atop it, too tired to care about the ache it sent through his chin the longer he stayed like that. He was tired. Uncomfortable knee be damned, he wasn't moving.

What was it with being unable to find someone when it was important, he thought? It felt like he’d ran into Samantha a ridiculous number of times, literally even, when trying to avoid her like the plague, so why not now? Why couldn't he have magically run into her today? It was stupidly unfair. The universe's sense of humor just bordered on being plain mean at this point.

He stayed like that for a while. Listening to the chatter and footsteps surrounding him until inevitably shifting to get up. Then he saw her. Walking down one of the open halls and quickly out of sight from where he could see with his craned neck and sat on the ground as he was. He shot up, briefly fumbling with the bag as he stepped atop the fountains ledge to get higher and shoved the bag over his head, stretching on the tips of his toes to peer over the heads of the other students walking the halls and mingling in the way of his view within the courtyard.

She was right there! He was going to lose her!

Fea-'' no, no! She wouldn't respond to that!

Samantha!

He hopped the fountain, finding himself ever so thankful the thing had long run dry of water when his sneaker skid into the empty ‘pool’. Jumping down from his fountain perch Elsian raced to one of the paneless windows, barely leaning his torso through it in time to catch the girl by the elbow, tugging gently at the fabric of her clothes before she disappeared into the group of wandering students.

Hey wait!

It was not a surprise that Samantha prefered her wand over the wand from spider boy. Still, she didn't want to be the one to ask her wand back, so she hadn't searched for him anywhere, since that would have been a waste of time. She had no idea if spider boy, no Elsian, had been looking for her, but she hoped he had. The idea of the idiot running around the castle unable to find her was quite amusing to her. Even if he found her, the only thing she would be able to give him back was his wand, since the homework was laying in her dorm. There was no way she was going to carry around his assignment all day, she wasn't stupid.

Even though she had a very strong opinion about the situation, she wasn't thinking about wand thief at all as she walked down the halls, chatting with her friends. The brunette didn't immediately recognize the voice but she did realize whoever was speaking yelled her name. As soon as she heard her name, her head moved in the direction of the sound and she could see Elsian jumping off the fountain. He seemed to be in a hurry to get to her, which gave Samantha a great idea. It was clear he was more desperate to get his things back than she was to get her stuff back. If the boy had wanted to read her notebook he would already have done that, so it didn't matter if she got it back now or tomorrow anymore.

An evil little smile appeared on her face as she started walking a bit faster, which cause questioning looks from her friends. But she didn't care about explaining it to her friend right away, the look on Elsian's face when he realized he hadn't been able to catch up to her would be worth every questioning look from her friends. Sadly, she hadn't walked fast enough. The feeling of somebody tugging her uniform caused her to turn her head. Samantha was rather disappointed when she looked into Elsian's eyes, he had been able to catch up to her, but it didn't take long for her to come up with a different plan.

After clearly looking him in his eyes, she turned away from him and disappeared into the crowd of students with a little smile on her face. Her uniform helped her to blend into the group of students and if it hadn't been for his desperate wait she would have easily disappeared into the group. His wait had sounded so sad and made her feel bad about leaving him behind. Yeah, he was a stupid idiot, who stole her wand and bumped it into a fountain, and he had a bloodthirsty spider who tried to kill her, but she still needed her wand and he needed his. It also wasn't the worst idea to have her notebook back.

She walked out of the group of students toward Elsian with a serious face. "Hello," Samantha said fake friendly. "You finally found me, have you been looking for me for long?" She knew what he wanted and he knew what she wanted, there was no reason to make this interaction too long, but she could resist making a little bit of fun of him.

This was already proving to be a horrible idea.

A horrible, terrible, stupid idea.

You could say that,” he answered tonelessly. It took everything in him to not grind his teeth in silent agony at the girls mocking tone; leave it to the stuck up air head to make things more complicated than they had to be. Why should he expect anything else?

‘Just get it over with.’ he thought to himself viciously, ‘get it done and you never have to see her again.’

Sooner the better, then he could continue to ignore her and pretend the Ravenclaw didn’t exist for the rest of the school year. Forget about that stupid book…that hopeful future in mind, he turned away to peer into his bag, flipping the clasp open to reach in and curl his fingers around feather heads wand tightly and tugged it out, barely concealed disgust curling in his chest. “As exciting as this has been,” he drawled, brandishing the wand slightly forward to show he indeed had her wand, perfect condition despite his hate for it, “I think the 1 day for this wand exchange was enough.” He tilted his head towards her as if in silent question, dropping his arm to hang by his side; she wouldn't be able to snatch it out of his hand without coming closer and Elsian wasn't as stupid as to believe he could just hand it over before seeing his own wand.

He wouldn't be surprised if she chucked it the first chance she got after all!

Flipping the clasp of his bag shut he left the book carefully concealed, filing that particular headache of a trade away for after he at least got his wand back.

So- trade?” he sighed, shoving some wild strands of hair from his eyes.

Tired, all he wanted to do was get his stuff back and maybe go take a nap. His voice reflected this; the last thing he wanted to do was get in another fight, not when it meant having to put up with Samantha's annoying voice and weird tangents. That said, the week's events had been continuously piling up on his nerves, just a continuous line of stress and problems and this accidental trade was just another problem to deal with on his plate. Elsian wasn't sure he could take it if the birdbrain kept stalling.

He didn't trust himself to not blow up. It felt like that had been the case a lot recently and wasn't that a bitter thought, just another thing to stress over…

Samantha was very glad when Elsian admitted to having looked for her, even though he answered tonelessly. Honestly, it made it even better. She could see he was frustrated and it was like a little victory for her. Her eyes followed the boy's every move as he turned to his bag and got her wand out of it. A heavyweight, which she didn't even realize had been there, was removed from her shoulders as soon as she saw her wand was okay. The enormous dislike for the boy grew with every second he held her wand. Her wand in the claws of this idiotic boy, her precious wand in his dirty hands.

She suppressed the need to snatch her wand out of his hands and run away with it, not wanting to look too desperate. Well, she wouldn't call the fact that he stole her wand again exciting, but sure. "One day is enough, did my wand not listen to you very well?" she asked him, with the evil little smile still on her face. She related to his annoyance of having somebody else's wand, but she wouldn't admit that, she rather poked fun at Elsian for it.

"You wanna trade?" she asked, while slowly opening her bag. The boy already seemed to be done with her, but that didn't mean she was done with him. She wouldn't skip this opportunity to make fun of him. "What do you want for your wand? A chocolate frog? Two?" she asked him while searching through her bag. It was clear Samantha knew what he wanted and just did this to annoy him. Her hands touched the boy's wand, which had been laying in a separate section of her schoolbag. "Or maybe," she revealed the boy's wand, "you want to trade it for this wand?" Samantha acted like she had to think about it for a little bit. "But if you want to trade for this wand, I am going to need my notebook back," she said seriously now.

She sure likes to hear herself talk, doesn't she?

Well now that you mention it,” he drawled sarcastically, fiddling with the wand absentmindedly, “I'd also like the notes you stole back.

Seriously, what even was this? Did she have to draw things out like this? The stupid smug act she had going on wasn't fooling anyone, if anything it was just pissing the Gryffindor off. Proving a point even, so to speak, about how much of a stuck-up, bull-headed brat the Ravenclaw was. That diary was a fraud when it came to showing this brats true colors, Elsian was a fool for thinking otherwise for even a second!

Aha! Like hell that was happening!

If she thought making bratty demands was gonna get her anywhere she had another thing coming!

Then the same goes for the work you took!” He threw back, annoyed. “Stop being a pretentious ass, pretending you have something to lord over my head so we can get this over with and go back to pretending the other doesn't exist.” He made to shove the wand in his robes hidden sleeve pocket with a quiet sigh; no point in holding it where she could easily snatch it when she was trying to be dramatic over this. “Seriously, what weird power trip are you on?

How had she thought this was gonna go? He really didn't know. But there was no way in hell he was gonna simper and beg a jerk like her. No way.

Besides,” he spat, internally upset at the girl's weird power trip, “playing coy doesn't work when I've already seen how freaked you get over your stuff, dumbass.” It didn't matter how smug or above it all she acted, he knew better, had seen how she was first hand. He was not fooled.

She rolled her eyes. "I didn't steal anything. I am not a stupid thief like you," she told him with all the sas in her little body. "Your notes probably liked me better than you," she was well aware notes didn't have feelings, but she could still use it against Elsian, so it didn't matter to her. "They probably wanted to have somebody read them who understood them and isn't an idiot." She casually placed her hand on her hip and slightly raised one of her eyebrows. "But seriously, your work was awful, you are lucky if you even got an A for that. I mean, that's probably higher than your usual grades," she said satisfied. Her grades were mostly O's and sometimes an E, but she could imagine the boy getting P's or D's if not a T once in a while.

Did he just call her a pretentious ass? This was serious now. "I think, no I know, you need to get your facts straight." Anger filled her eyes as Elsian shoved her wand in his robes. "You might have my wand, but I also have yours and on top of that I have your horrible made homework. I know you have my notebook, but if you wanted to read it you have already done that and it won't matter if I get it back now or any other day. If you aren't a horrible, selfish, stupid, rude, mean and annoying person, you haven't read it and you won't read it even if you don't give it back to me now. Honestly, I have no idea if you have already read it, I mean you are pretty annoying and stupid, but I don't know if you are that heartless and evil to read somebody's diary in which is written not to read it," while talking she played with his wand. "So who has the most power here?" Samantha would never admit she didn't have as much power as she liked, she hated not being in control. That was why she talked so much, when she was talking she was in control and everybody had to listen to her. If she was quiet, the conversation could go ways she didn't want it to.

She couldn't say she hadn't freaked out over her stuff, because they both knew she had. But honestly, who wouldn't freak out if somebody's pet tried to kill them and then the person whose pet tried to kill you stole your wand? About the freaking out there was nothing she could say, but when he called her a dumbass she couldn't stay silent. "I am not a dumbass. If one of us is a dumbass it is you," she aggressively pointed her finger at the boy. "Your astronomy assignment was horrible and you should be grateful that I corrected all your little mistakes!"

He should have expected this. Pity and whatever scraps of poorly placed chivalry had blinded him perhaps to her ego, all when Saman-

…no, when this featherhead was the one picking fights and causing the problems in the first place! Not stealing? What else did she want to call it, blackmailing? Flat out holding his stuff hostage? News flash, it sounded just as bad! No amount of flowery wordplay changed what she was doing.

Call him horrible or selfish all you want, but the girl's remarks, the abysmal attitude, her borderline harassment…it all just cemented how horrible she was in his mind. Elsian wasn't the one who tried to harm someone's pet, he wasn't trying to hold someone's things hostage, he wasn't the one insulting people's hard work. All he'd done was toss a wand into a birdbath after she'd been rude and raving like a lunatic. So he was rude huh? A selfish, heartless, evil boy? Please, she wanted to play stupid mind games, fine. He'd show her some good old fashioned Gryffindor nerve and just how done he was with this farce of a power play.

Who has the most power here?

After he was done? Certainly not her.

Fine,” he said blankly. Popping open the clasp of his bag he tugged at the diary, twisting sideways and stepping out of reach as he flipped it open with a breathless sigh. Flipping through it quickly towards the end of the book, among empty pages; hed burn it, just a little, just the corners of some blank page but the threat should be enough. She already had it in her mind he was some cruel, crazed Gryffindor with a bloodthirsty spider after all, might as well use that. “Since you don't care-

The wand was pulled from his sleeve. “No point in keeping it I suppose.” Pointedly he waved the wand towards the diary page, casting the spell with a clear, “Incendio,” lighting up the paper with a warm, destructive flame that made his chest clench in equal parts guilt and satisfaction. He promptly tossed it behind him with an air of indifference, nose twitching at the ashy smell. Arm dropped to the side, out of sight and reach of the girl, the thin wood was limp in his grip, loose with the impulse to drop it like some cursed object. But no. Not yet.

Luckily, he didn't have to wait long at all.

Unsurprisingly. Seeing ones things disappear in fiery flame had a way of jolting a person into action, like right now for example. The featherhead shoved past him, wand drawn up-

-his wand.

He snatched it from her wand when she passed, grasping her wrist and fighting it out of her grip in a rough twist and a narrowed gaze of distaste. Quickly shoving away from her with his things and beginning to walk away from whatever new hateful insults she thought to spit at him. A bit aways he paused, briefly enough to toss the girl's wand by her feet as he left. He refused to stay a moment longer.

Enjoy burning the notes,” he called back, shoving his wand into his sleeve pocket.

He was done with this.

No homework, or even the notes were worth this.

Fine? The boy would just give her her stuff back that easy without making a big deal about it as she did? Surprise, she looked at the boy who now opened his bag. When he got her notebook out of his bag, she extended her hand, thinking he would hand it over to her. But instead of giving her belongs back to her, the rightful owner, he stepped away from her. "What are you doing?" she asked horrified as he flipped through the book.

Yeah, there was no point in keeping it for him, so he should give it back to her, but the didn't need her wand for that. The spell Elsian cast at her book caught her by surprise and it took a few seconds before she realized what he had done. The white paper slowly turned black as the fire eat the blank pages. Her eyes followed the little book, still on fire, as the boy tossed it behind him and the smell of the burning pages reached her nose.

Within seconds of her dairy flying through the air, the young girl stepped towards it, her clothes brushing Elsian's, but her movement was stopped when the boy's hands clawed her wrist. She could feel him struggling to get his wand, which was clutched in her hand, free from her grip, but her focus was on the burning book. The rough way Elsian got his wand out of her hand had hurt her wrist, but she ignored the pain as she stamped out the fire with her shoe. Growing up as a muggle, Samantha's first reaction was always to do things the 'muggle way', which was why she hadn't used magic to save her book from being burned completely.

After picking up her notebook from the ground, she filled through the partly burned book checking its state. A few empty pages and a little of the back cover were burned and with the water damage that had been done to the poor dairy a few months prior, it desperately needed to be replaced. The brunette didn't have a lot of time to check the diary, before Elsian threw her wand on the ground. Seriously, this kid didn't know how to treat this with respect! First throwing her wand in a dirty fountain then he sets her book on fire and throws it on the ground, only for the dairy to be followed by her wand hitting the dirty ground.

She gave him a dirty look as she picked up her wand from the ground. "You don't burn other people's stuff, you idiot!" she yelled as the boy walked away. She would never burn homework, that would be a waste of hard work and extremely disrespectful. The fact that the boy burned her stuff didn't mean that she had to stoop down to his level and burn knowledge.
