Playing as iNPC Yefim Rumyantsev
Things were different once Yefim was surrounded by his friends loyal servants. He didn't attack random people to show off, he did it to put them in their place. Now, he had a beautiful wide berth around him and his closest companions. A world apart, space reflecting truth. In the presence of Greta he always felt so much more light-hearted and cheerful, her honesty of expression had always appealed to him, and the fact that the other people in her life didn't appreciate her was a problem he sought to fix. Moments like seeing Niff and her playing and smiling, it was what he woke up for every day. They deserved the love that they were being denied. And also, world domination, after that.

As he watched Mik, his body language was clear enough to read, especially after knowing him so well for so long. It seemed as though Niffler picked up on it too, and Yefim would follow with him to see what was up. They were a trio after all, they were inseparable. Once he got there, action had already kicked in. Mik was clearly doing one of his 'things' where he goes really hardcore really fast. Yefim understood. He knew why Mik was so angry, why it felt good to hurt people. The target was wearing a mask and strange outfit. Why had he chosen this kid, had he been taunted?

Well, not that it mattered. Regardless of the fire's trajectory, the victim would retaliate. It was not the movements of a normal child, it was immediately clear that this child was taught how to fight. This situation was more dangerous than Mik realized, he should have waited for all three of them... or, maybe he wanted to get hurt. The kid had something in his hand, so Yefim would try to act quickly.

[”Weapon!”] Yefim would bellow, running into the smack middle of the fight.

Here was the issue, he meant it when he said he liked Galton. He was a good guy. He was fun. There was never a bad thought expressed or mean word spoken, it just was not in his nature. It made Galton exceedingly pleasant but also an easy patsy, someone that could be manipulated because he wanted to be. He would actively deny a reality that betrayed his vision of happiness and peace.

"I have a date to get back to," Jurgen replied with a nervous chuckle. "She is around here somewhere," he claimed but in truth his statement did sound like a lie even if he was claiming a truth. He had entered the ball with Marion, a head turner and stunner. She was rather broken up over the death of Vladimir and the disappearance of her friend Victor, he was apparently there one day and 'gone' the next. In truth, he already knew that Victor was dead, well that he had been dead all this time. His cousin had shared a great deal of what he knew before he became too ill to go on, he also knew that Marion should be dead also even if she lacked the characteristic chill Vladimir had previously described.

Had his cousin lied? Was he simply wrong? He was not going to burden himself with the answer, it was not his problem. Dead or some reasonable facsimile of life, as far as Hess knew Marion was no threat. Had he known what she was, he would have had another target for this evening.

The offer of a date was an interesting option all the same. More time, further opportunity if he was subtle about it. He had enough aconite to down a horse, this bull in a dress was a fraction of the weight and likely metabolism. Might even work out better than leaving her bloodied remains someplace on the grounds to be later found. Sigh, good idea Lansdale... this is why I need to keep you around.

"But yeah, I owe you more time than my date," he admitted with a smile. "I think I missed the sign ups for the fire walking, but I can cheer you on," he started to settle back into that persona. He actually liked to play the role of Jurgen Hess, Gryffindor. "Honestly, dances are not really my thing," he took a look around. They really were not. The food fighting was likely the best part of the evening, the room reeked of desperation and self-importance. People looking to soothe bruised egos with a dance, to tell themselves the lie that they wont die alone if they have a dance partner. That they were somehow witty or clever if they were surrounded by 'friends.'

"A game is more my speed," he announced. He was dressed well enough to dance or to play he reasoned. "A bit childish but a game of hide and seek in the chaos might be better than a dance." Galton loved games, Hugh whom he mentioned did not really like anything. This would likely be no exception.

Well, at the very least she is not wearing a blanket like a toga or an oversized, cinched shirt. She was wearing white of all colors, probably one of the worst options to wear to a ball. The smoke, grass and blood stains alone were a sufficient reason to choose something else entirely. If nothing else, Erin cleaned up well. A gold-colored bangle on her left wrist and a pair of diamond stud earrings that were nearly invisible gave the part Veela a rather understated presence in comparison to some of the more elaborate choices in attire some of the other girls donned.

She felt tall at the very least, wearing a pair of wheat-colored wedges that added four inches to her already appreciable five foot five frame. She was thing, but she did not appear sickly. Her long, blonde hair was simply pulled back from her face, wisps of unruly strands of hair would frame a seemingly clean face. Little did she know and little had she prepared herself for a food fight that would be taking place on the first and potentially only ball that she bothered to clean herself up for. Balls such as the Blossom Ball are known for their chaos and she would not miss the disaster for the world.

Erin really did not care about any apology. She did not care, or worry about the fact that she was nearly murdered or the person that was out for her blood was in front of her. Just as she was not able to fully appreciate the fact that there were also people in front of her, standing next to her in fact that had saved her life. The dichotomy was not entirely lost to her, she knew as a reasonable person should what had transpired even if it was only a vague recollection. Madness had left the day in a bloodied haze. She knew in the back of her head even if her heart had nothing to say on the matter that anywhere she went with Hess would be dangerous, she just did not have the fear a normal teen would possess. She was not in a good place because knowing what she did, she would have went with him.

But suffer through life, feigning semblances of humanity and knowing without feeling the shame of never meeting the basic standard. "I--" don't have a date to tend to. Nobody to annoy, Nick had found happiness, or some awkward reasonable facsimile. The happiness was fleeting, it had already settled down to contentment and tolerance. The climax on pleasing moments is brief, unlike resentment or rage, powerful, enduring emotions that last for hours if not days. Festering and seething, bubbling and growing. She by far preferred the rare, decadent moments of pleasure, but they left her hollow and wanting thereafter.

"Sure," she resigned. "Howard's loss," she added as she looked over at the dhampire and the girl that stuck around, Bloom Silverton. She was unaware of their blossoming relationship or the lies she had told Serena that her eyes were on Tower's brother Arjan. Honestly a decent pair, shallow as a parking lot puddle, conventionally 'pretty.' "But I am pretty sure the food is poisoned, it always is," she reminded them. A truth in fact, one that could be taken from the previous balls as well as their daily meals not that they would notice the mild dose of mind-altering substance they routinely consumed. "I would not trust the firewalking either, who knows what they did.. walking on hot things is not normal..." she reasoned. Yes, she was paranoid but she had every right to be. Everything was dangerous and everything was trying to ill them or drug them up enough that they don't care that everyone is dead. It was a song and dance she had sung a number of times before, Lowe heard it the day they met. Towers likely heard it at some point as well, her incessant ranting was nonsensical but there was a thread of truth to it.

She would recognize Oliver Hart, he had been scarce as of late. "Oliver?" She called out to the teen, she could be wrong, he was not ball-shaped and his face was wrong also but there was an air of familiarity. Maybe it was the eyes, how he held himself, features that the loss of adipose did not change. She was uncertain. "Dance? Food?" She wasn't going to eat but he sure could, and a growing group was a good group she supposed.

Just a trick of the lighting they said...

Marcel was nervous. He tended to be, with large crowds. It was later than he meant to when he finally psyched himself up enough to go to the Blossom Ball. He straightened his suit, picked up his dish, took a deep breath... and entered the Great Hall.
It was decorated beautifully, as he expected. Flowers everywhere, music coming from somewhere, and... Loads of people. As expected. He sighed, holding his dish close (but not too close) to his chest, checking it again.
It was something he had had often as a child, a dish called 'Bubble and Squeak.' It was an old British dish, one that was rather easy for him to make. It was a hotpot dish, potatoes, broccoli, and an assortment of different meats. He hoped others would at least try it, as he would make an effort to try dishes from other countries.
He made his way to the potluck table, muttering an 'excuse me' as he brushed past different people dancing, laughing and whatnot. He put his dish down, swallowing nervously as he turned around, unsure what to do.
Big gatherings were never his strong suit. He much preferred to sit in a corner and read a book. But... Perhaps he'd be able to get out of his shell for one night. Sure, he made... a few friends, but there was always room to make more... Right?
Snapping out of his thoughts, he stepped away from the potluck table, listening to the music waft in throughout the Great Hall.
He wasn't good at asking others to interact.
He hoped someone would find him.

When Sophia started laughing, Gemima couldn't help but join in. She had to admit that it was a good prank.

"It was no problem," she replied, as Sophia apologized for the commotion. "I'm just glad you're all right. There's no need to be sorry."
She was feeling much calmer than before. Maybe all it took to calm her nerves was a miniature disaster. Although, she was surprised that Sophia didn't pick up on the teacup sooner, given that it was one of the most popular products out there. She must be a muggleborn, or something.
Gem smiled wryly. "We'll have to educate you on wizarding joke items, so you can have the upper hand on Kim next time."

"Yo! You get the teacup off yet?" Kim waltzed his way into the healer's tent. His face bore a poorly concealed smirk.
Gemima's eyes narrowed. "Speak of the devil." She moved from Sophia's side, and listened to what he had to say. Apparently, he'd done this sort of thing before! And he seemed wholly unbothered that he had been basically using Sophia as a prank guinea pig. Gem was learning new things about this boy every day.

She crossed her arms, and gave him the frostiest stare she could muster. Sophia didn't seem to be harmed by his antics, but someone had to be upset on her behalf.
"I hope you had fun," she said, puffing her cheeks out irritably. "The healer's tent was definitely not on my list for tonight, and I'd like to avoid visiting it again, especially if it's because of you.”
Her voice was indignant and haughty in tone. However, she was only a little miffed and annoyed with Kim. At the end of the day, it was all in good fun. He did cause quite an inconvenience for everyone involved, though.

Gemima fixed him with a stern eye again at his request. "I think we're about done here," she said curtly. She turned to look at the other two girls. "What do you two think?"

Crushing Sam’s heart Talking To Sam and successfully ruining the evening for both of them
Image posted by the member
Blue in English, Red in Korean
As expected, Eun-ji’s explanation only made Sam cry harder. She tried to get rid of the tears but it was a losing battle. The raven-haired witch, pulled the pack of tissues from her pocket, put them on the table and slowly slid them towards the younger Ravenclaw. Whether she took them or not was a decision left entirely up to her. Eun-ji would not guide Sam's actions anymore.

To her surprise, despite the apparent disappointment, Samantha still tried to defend her honour. Eun-ji didn’t think she deserved it but it was kind of nice. Now, how was she supposed to explain everything without saying more than she was comfortable with? This conversation was already uncomfortable enough as it was. Perhaps using the literal change could be useful in this situation. “Yes but that was Carolyn. Carolyn did so gladly because she was sheltered and could afford to care about other people’s struggles. She was naive and thought she was in complete control of her life but she was wrong.” Sighing for what seemed like a millionth time that evening, Eun-ji paused for a moment to let the words sink in. Did she look as exhausted as she felt? She sure hoped not. “Eun-ji is not as fortunate. She is not as ignorant and doesn’t have the luxury to worry about other people anymore. You deserve to find somebody who does.”

Samantha took a deep breath, probably steeling herself before she could voice out her final conclusion. It was harsh…For both of them. The older girl made sure to keep on her brave face though. If she faltered now, the younger girl might start having doubts, which was unthinkable at this point. Eun-ji had finally achieved what she tried to do for so long and she should have been relieved but it was hard. Oh, God was it hard. This went against everything she used to stand for, against her very nature. To be fair in a way, she already did this once but that was different. She didn’t know Oliver prior to that meeting and so it was not as difficult to draw the line between them. “If I had known you don't like me I wouldn't have bothered you, I am sorry.” Sam’s last words stung. All the more because they were not true. “That’s not…” Eun-ji stopped herself just in time. There was no need to confuse the girl any further. She was hurt and Eun-ji didn’t feel like she had the right to defend herself. “It may be hard to believe right now but it is better this way,” she said instead. The witch honestly wasn’t sure who she was trying to convince at this point. Sam or herself? Did it even matter? Well, what a lovely way to ruin our evening. Good job Lee Eun-ji. You've really outdone yourself this time.

A confused look appeared in her blue eyes when Eun-ji told her it was Carolyn who had done those things. The older girl talked about Carolyn like it was a different person, but Eun-ji was Carolyn, the only thing that changed was her name. At least, that was the case in Samantha's mind, since she had no idea what had happened to Eun-ji and why exactly she had changed her name. The sight that left Eun-ji's mouth was followed by more words, this time about Eun-ji. "Oh," she was so confused, but didn't she didn't ask anything since she didn't want to look stupid.

It's not what? The third-year student didn't finish her sentence and left Samantha guessing what she had wanted to say. Was Samantha leaving her alone not what Eun-ji wanted or was it not true that Eun-ji didn't like Samantha? With tears rolling down her face, Samantha slowly walked away from Eun-ji, who had told her it was better this way, without saying bye or anything else since she was too hurt to do so.

The second-year hadn't touched the tissues Eun-ji had placed on the table, but when she heard Delphinia's voice the young girl wished that she had. Samantha turned around and her heart skipped a beat when she saw how amazing her date looked and she realized how awful she must look with red eyes from all the crying she had done in the last couple of minutes. "You look amazing," she said in awe, completely forgetting to greet her date like a normal person. The braid, the dress, the make-up, it was all perfect. "I am so sorry! I look like a mess," Samantha said apologetically. She had never really cared about how she looked, but now she did, she couldn't look this bad in front of Del! "I am crying," she said while wiping away her tears, "and you look so good. This is not how I wanted you to see me!" Eun-ji had shattered her heart and ruined her night, but Delphinia's presence had already made it a lot better.

With bated breath, she watched the exchange between Galton and the one he called Hess. Unlike him, she was not familiar with the latter nor did she have any strong feelings of friendship or loyalty towards him. All she really knew was what happened at the previous ball and it was not a good first impression. The situation, however, was also not a usual or expected situation. Someone was turning into a hag, after all. Of course, that was scary. Serena frowned a little as she heard his words though. They... made sense. It was understandable. His cousin was cursed and died around Christmas? She had no idea who his cousin was but... wait - that Hogwarts student who was in the paper? "I'm really sorry for your loss," Serena responded to Hess. The poor guy seemed to be going through a rough time. She did not know his cousin well either but she had read the paper, at least and putting two and two together was not super hard. Though, even if she was wrong and it was someone else he meant, a loss was still a loss. She was definitely pleased to hear he had amends to make with Erin though.

If he was lying, it was lost on her. She trusted people until they gave her a reason not to. His actions in October made her very hesitant to trust him and she found herself near Erin for that very reason. But she also did understand how the fear in that situation can make you do something you would not normally do. If he had learned that he was wrong and that it was a mistake, that was a good step in the right direction. Call her naive but Serena did not believe any student was actually capable of being a murderer. It was born from fear, a need to protect their own lives or the lives of their loved ones. It was not murder, it was an act of self-defence... right?

Serena glanced at Erin as the two boys continued to converse. She cocked her head to the side in confusion for a moment before following her finger to Nicholas and Aurora. Ahhhh. After seeing them at Valentine's and their Broom Racing interviews and at the spectator game- okay, after seeing them anywhere, it was pretty obvious. She grinned, "Aww, adorable. Didn't take you to be a matchmaker, Erin," She joked before the smile dropped off as she mentioned Howard again. She inhaled sharply, trying to figure out what to say. Her eyes flickered to Bloom and Howard on the dance floor. Together. Wait- what did Erin just say-

He stared at her? No, he didn't. That would be... No. That made no sense. Besides, he had walked off to go with Bloom! Admittedly, she had no idea how he felt but... that look Bloom was rather telling. Not only that look but the actions alongside it. But Bloom said she liked Arjan... Ugh, this whole thing hurt Serena's chest and head. It was just complicated. Feelings sucked. She swallowed, looking back at Erin, "I don't uh think that's... You know... Pretty sure he'd only notice me if I was dying," Serena mumbled meekly, recalling how he rushed to protect her. But he was just nice. He protected everyone.

Serena fidgeted, as the trio in front of her conversed. Absentmindedly, she crossed her arm over her chest and stroked the little rat that was on her shoulder, giving him scratches behind his head. She stared at them, trying to focus on what they were saying and engage with them. It did not help stop her mind from getting distracted by stupid thoughts of the stupidly nice guy that kept flooding her brain with thoughts and making her heart pound. No no no. She had to get over this. He was not interested in her that way and there was a chance that her friend was interested in him. A pretty high chance based on the way she was flirting with him... right in front of her. No. That can't be right. No way was Bloom flirting with Howard, right? She had to have been imagining it. Bloom liked Arjan and she was perfectly aware of Serena's feelings. She would, at the very least, not do it in front of her... right? Right. She was just overthinking this.

Wait - what did she miss? There was hugging. They were friends again? That was a relief. "Ahh don't say that - I signed up for that!" Serena protested Erin's words about not trusting the firewalking either, pulling a face of worry as she started to ponder if there was a way for that to be true. Why did she sign up?! She should definitely have gone with the flying torch tag if they were playing games, she was an excellent broom rider after all! Ahhhhhh. "And uh, there's probably some okay food right? I made the samosas, I can vouch for that at least..." She argued, having made them. She would have defended the food but... she could not. The last time she had randomly eaten a cupcake at an event, she believed herself to be madly and hopelessly in love with Hugh - and that was just awkward.

"Alright, let's avoid the food. Dancing is fine, though, right?" She continued, just really wanting to have a dance where people actually danced and to avoid having any more awkward relationships. The few friendships she had were all turning awkward for one reason or another by now and she hated it. She seemed to constantly be doing something wrong and making them that way and she just wanted to... stop. Dancing was also just fun.

And she was just here to have fun, after all.

She was relieved when Erin seemed to reach out to a friend or someone else she knew. That was a good sign.

After she asked how it was going, Hiro smiled at her and said that it was good and he was trying to meet everyone at the ball before it was over. Impressed, Bailey asked “How many people have you met so far?”
Then he asked if they had had any food yet. Bailey nodded, replying “I did actually. My date made some Cullen skink. It was actually quite good. Have you eaten yet?”
When Luca and his Date came over, Luca introduced himself and said hello. He clearly recognized Bailey, as he said hi to her and asked how it was going. She smiled and responded, “Pretty good. I sent James to bed because he looked really tired. I hope he isn’t sick.”
Before anyone could say anything else, people started falling like dominos. They kept falling and falling, ending right before it could hit her. Hiro caught the last person, and as he did so what appeared to be an ever-bashing boomerang flew out of his pocket, wizzing around. Bailey decided that catching it would be a problem for later and now she was going to check on all of the people that had fallen. Starting with the person nearest to her, Hiro, she asked “Are you ok?”

Louca grinned, leaving his bowtie alone for the moment, but determined that it was gone at the first opportunity he saw, and especially before they participated in activities. He was sure it would be a liability and that would be an excellent option to ditch it. Though he appreciated that Haley was so flexible about the whole thing. That made things so much more simple.

“Well it wouldn’t do to be starving before whichever activity we sign up for.” Louca didn’t even mention the dancing for the moment, now focusing on the tables where the food had been set up. Smiling at Haley as she dragged him to the food tables, Louca looked closer at all the options. Grabbing a few and putting them on a plate he had picked up nearby, Louca looked over Haley’s shoulder. “What are you grabbing? It all looks so good! I especially am aiming for the baked goods. Dessert before supper should be mandatory at least once a year.” Louca was sure that Haley would understand the sentiment, and obviously it should be followed more than once a year but that should go without saying.

Pausing, he scrunched his face a bit. “Two numbers, easy enough…..maybe? 2!” Louca randomly quietly shouted, trying not to deafen Haley but coming up with the first thing that came to mind. Adding another pastry to his plate, he took several bites as they stood with Hiro and his group.

Louca was sad to hear about Bailey’s date, he knew she had been really excited for the ball. “Oh no! I hope he’s not as well. Sorry to hear that.”

Turning his body slightly to face Haley more, he answered. “Of course! Though we should sign up for the activity first? Which one was number 2?” Louca asked, excited to find out what they would be doing later tonight.
