A Land Of Stories
Lucia had thought long and hard about the first meeting of The Bookworms. The club wasn't one which she had founded, but one which she had taken over when someone else had presumably left Hogwarts around March 2021. Since then, nothing had really happened with the club, but she had finally put her nose to the grindstone before the Christmas holidays and planned out their very first meeting, which she'd planned to take place in January. It hadn't happened then, mostly due to Lucia still finding her feet after Alexa's death, but the Hufflepuff was determined that it would go ahead now, even if it only served as a distraction for her.
She'd sent out invitations to the event (a slightly painful experience which involved a lot of time, a lot of ink, and a lot of owls) a week before to the over fifty members of the club. Lucia knew that most of them probably wouldn't come, but she hoped that someone would, even if it was just one. After all, this activity relied on a number of members coming to the meeting.
You are invited, the invitations had read in a slightly messy version of Lucia's handwriting, to the first ever Bookworms meeting! Where: the courtyard (the study room if it rains). At first, Lucia had thought about just holding the meeting in the study room whether it rained or not, but... there was always something nice about being outside, right? When: Saturday the 12th Febuary, 1:00pm. This would make it just after lunch, although Lucia had bought a box of biscuits to bring anyway. What: A book swap! Please bring along an old book which you've loved to read and you can swap it for someone else's! Hopefully everyone will find a new favourite read.
Luckily for everyone, it wasn't raining, and the sky was a beautifully clear blue as Lucia set up a table in the courtyard fifteen minutes or so before everyone else arrived. On it, she spread a plain white tablecloth, and a quick sign explaining that it was for members of The Bookworms to put their books and take books to swap. Next to the table was a small cardboard box with a slit in the lid and a sign proudly displaying the title Recomendations Box. Cards of paper and a quill and ink were next to it: members could write down a book recommendation and post it in the box. If they wanted, once some recommendations were in there, they could take off the lid and pick one out at random, giving them hopefully a new book to read. After placing the box of biscuits next to them, Lucia posted into the box some slips of paper, upon which she'd written some recommendations which members had given when they'd signed up. Finally, she placed down her contribution to the swap table: a slightly battered edition of The School For Good And Evil by Soman Chainani. It was a book she'd loved for a long time and she hoped that somebody else would love it too.
Then she stepped back and gave a sigh of relief. Everything was here. As members arrived, Lucia would bestow upon them a slightly nervous smile. "Hello- welcome! Please feel free to get a biscuit... put a recommendation in the box... swap a book..."OOC NOTES

Lizzy had signed up for the Bookworms club earlier in the year, almost as soon as she had seen the club. She loved to read more than most anything else. She loved how books seemed to transport her to a million different realities, all without her leaving her seat. Lizzy actually felt unable to go a day without reading at least a chapter or two of any book. Bookworm, booknerd, booklover, bibliophile. She was all of these things, and she hoped that by joining the Bookworms club that she would be able to meet people who felt the same about books.Interacting: @Lucia Fox ☽ ➶ ☾ Mentioning: --
After receiving her invitation to the first meeting and learning that it was a book swap, Lizzy had immediately set to search for an old favorite that she could swap. Many hours and elimination processes later, she decided on bringing three because--well why not? She couldn't pick just one! The three that were tucked in her hand were Divergent, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and Murder on the Orient Express.
The vastly differing genres would be good for the people who were participating. Divergent was mainly dystopian, one of Lizzy's favorite genres. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children was horror, mystery, and fantasy, and Murder on the Orient Express was mystery and crime. There was a little bit of everything there!
Arriving in the courtyard, she looked around and saw only one other girl there. She assumed it was Lucia, the one who had organized the meeting. Lizzy walked up to her with a smile, "Hi! I, well, I couldn't decide on just one book to bring, so I brought three. I hope that's alright." Lizzy looked around the courtyard at the tables that were set up. "Everything looks great!" she complimented Lucia.

Lucia's wishes were answered in the form of a girl she vaguely recognised (maybe from duelling? Or some kind of sport?) [@Lizzy Solace] walking straight towards her little set up. The younger girl (for Lucia was fairly sure she was younger) had brown hair that just about reached her ears and who thankfully looked happy to be there. "Hello!" The Hufflepuff grinned at the member. Wait, had she said hello already? Was she being too overexcited? You know what, who cares? Lucia had put this together herself. She deserved to be excited about it. "That's awesome!" was the response when Lucia discovered that the new arrival had brought not only one book with her, but three. "It's definitely alright!" Lucia gestured towards the table and cardboard box. "There's, um, only one book so far, because there's just me, but you can put your books down on the swap table if you want and take that one, or you can wait to see if anyone else comes and brings something else, or..." Lucia remembered she had to breathe and did so. "There's a recommendations box, look! You can write down a book recommendation - or multiple! - and put it in the box, and you can also take a random one out."OOC NOTES

A book club. Finally, people who were just as interested in literature as he was. A place he'd be able to be himself. Somewhere he could... Maybe find a friend. He was nervous. Of course he was, he hadn't talked to too many people, all considering. A few here and there, but never any... Long-lasting relationships. He huffed softly to himself as he hurried to the courtyard, a small bag on his shoulder, loaded with books. He couldn't pick just one, after all. Books were an escape, a brilliant way to find new worlds and far-off places. He definitely wouldn't put all of them on the table, but... Well, he'd save that line of thinking for when he got to the event.
He was slightly disappointed when he only found two people there. The curator of the event-Lucia, he thought to himself- a pretty girl, objectively, with jet-black hair and faint freckles, and a girl he hadn't seen before, one with dark brown hair. They both looked reasonably friendly, yet he was still nervous. He straightened his shirt (he had opted for something less formal than what he usually wore, a pink sweater as he tended to get chilly and a pair of nice pants), took a deep breath while adjusting his glasses, and approached the two. "H-Hullo, I hope I'm not too late." He smiled warmly, taking one of the few books out of his bag. His favourite. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He looked at it for a minute before setting it on the table. "Goodbye, old friend. I hope you will be returned to me." He nervously looked up with a shy smile. Lucia was taller than him, though the stranger was shorter. He took some joy in this. "Marcel Wheatley, pleased to meet you both."

ohh the book club meeting is later! Yay! Bailey thought. Going through her stack of books by her bed, she tried to decide which to bring. Maybe… ohh what if I brought Little Women… no too common. Maybe … oh the Princess Bride! Perfect.Outfit:

Grabbing her edition of the Princess bride, Bailey slipped it into her bag and headed out of the Ravenclaw Dorms. Once she had finished breakfast, she headed to the kitchens to whip up a quick batch of cookies. Food helped her calm down and it was a wonderful way to make friends. Deciding that a classic chocolate chip was the way to go, Bailey whipped up a batch quickly and then headed to the meeting. Walking in, she walked over to the table with the box for her book, and set it in. Deciding to put down her plat of cookies before she introduced herself, she put the plate down next to the book box. “Um… hello! she said, addressing the two girls and one boy in the room. The girl with the black hair she was pretty sure was Lucia, but she wasn’t totally sure. I really hope bringing cookies was ok. I had some time this morning so I whipped up a batch. By the way, my name is Bailey. Bailey Glade. It’s great to meet y’all!

Kim had seen the Bookworms Club before as he loved books.
But it had been closed down.
Apparently, it had been started by someone who had left Hogwarts back in March 2021. Or at least that was what his information had told him.
He didn't feel comfortable enough to try and take over the club. Yes, he loved and read books all the time. But to start a club revolving around them? That would be different. If anything, he'd want to open some kind of cooking club instead one of these days. Kim was a lot more confident with his skill in a kitchen than he was at anything else. Plus, food was delicious. How could you not want to learn how to cook/bake? Maybe one of these days he would do so.
That is, start a cooking/baking club up for students.
But not anytime before the Blossom Ball.
After all, everyone would be preparing for the event and he didn't want to distract anyone. Or have no one show up because they were focused on the ball and nothing else.
And then, one day, Kim saw a notice on the bulletin board in the Great Hall, which stated the Bookworms Club had been reopened by someone new. Well, that was nice! Kim immediately signed up for the club and soon afterward received a letter from the one in charge, telling him to meet for the first meeting out in the courtyard or the study room if it rained. When the time came, he looked out the window to see a rather beautiful sunny and clear blue sky there.
The courtyard it was!
He idly wondered just how many people would show up to the club.
Hopefully, it wouldn't be a ton. Kim hated crowds and being in tight spaces with other people. But if it came down to it, he could always just go off to a corner and away from them.
Kim was currently dressed in a white shirt with some kind of Asian structures painted on it, along with what looked like some splashes of well-placed paint in the image as a decoration, along with a pair of black pants. A black jacket with a blurred out design was worn on top of his outfit and a gold link chain necklace completed his look. As previously instructed, Kim carried a book with him to put down onto the swap table. It was a rather fun mystery book.
One he'd recently read. Even though his favorite genres were adventure and DIY types (such as textbooks and actual DIY ones), he was quickly becoming immersed in mysteries too.
This time he'd brought The Women's Murder Club: 1st to Die by James Patterson.
It was a great read and he was already on the second book of the series.
Upon arriving at the designated location, Kim glanced around the area. It was better than he'd originally thought and his lips twitched into what could almost have been seen as a smile. There weren't as many people there, which was calming for him. But then again, that could change as time passed, but hopefully it wouldn't and the meeting would remain like this. He went over and placed his book down onto the table, glancing down at the surface.
Kim noted the recommendation box and the biscuits beside it, along with a note explaining the rules of the club. He'd been about to write down a recommendation but it seemed as if he would have to do that later on, as he'd already placed his book down. The boy reached out and drew a book from the box, The Princess Bride being the one that emerged from the box. Most likely because that had been the latest book placed inside the box, so it was the first that came out. Picking up one of the biscuits he popped it into his mouth and chewed it slowly.
The reason?
Kim liked sampling things and trying to figure out what the ingredients were.
There were currently three people present, two girls and one boy it looked like. One of the girls looked like she was in charge of the event and the other two looked as if they were members like him. Wait, was that Bailey? Kim placed the book under his arm as he turned around to give his 'friend' what he hoped was a smile. Sometimes he couldn't tell the difference between a smirk and a smile. "Bailey! It seems as if I see you everywhere!"
He said, actually glad she was there.
Bailey always seemed to put forth a good atmosphere wherever she tended to go.
Kim glanced over at the girl and boy, the only other two present at the time, and inclined his head towards them. He didn't say anything because there really was nothing to say at the moment, and he disliked small talk so didn't tend to engage in such actions. But if they spoke to him and asked him a question he thought they really wanted to know the answer to, he would definitely respond. Typical greetings such as 'nice to meet you' were not the boy's style.
How did he know it would be 'nice to meet' them?

@Marcel WheatleyAs she was talking with Marcel, Bailey heard someone else walk in. It turned out to be Kim Sato, her owl pal and fellow member of a LOT of clubs. They were very similar in club preferences… it was slightly odd. Maybe that is why we were paired as owl pals. I wonder… who is in charge of that? Is it a prefect, or one of the professors? Or … maybe Headmaster Leer? No not him… he has more important business. Probably a prefect.
When Kim said hello to her, he mentioned that he now saw her everywhere. She laughed and agreed, saying “Hey Kim! How are you?It does seem like that doesn’t it? Anyways, I’m glad to see you here!”
Smiling, Bailey turned back to Marcel and said “Kim is my owl pal. We seem to be in a lot of clubs together, and before now we never realized it. Do you have an owl owl?”
Giving marvel a chance to talk, Bailey again looked around. Spotting the tray of biscuits that she had made and brought, she walked over and grabbed one. She popped it into her mouth and made a satisfied sound. A good chocolate chip cookie, or really any food was amazing, but since it was her great grandmothers recipe, he had more than just physics ingredients in it.Word count: 230 ish

Bailey seemed to agree with him.
They did seem to see eachother everywhere, maybe it was fate.
He nodded when Bailey spoke to one of the boys present, apparently she'd been in a conversation with him before, and told him he was her Quill Pal. Well, she'd actually said owl pal, but it was the same thing. "Mm. We actually met long before becoming Quill Pals. But when we started writing to eachother it took us awhile to figure out it was us." It was kind of funny how they'd automatically assumed they were strangers at first.
All because they couldn't see eachother's faces. As Bailey went over to grab a chocolate chip cookie, Kim's eyes widened and he followed her. For some reason, he hadn't seen those cookies before. He'd only seen the biscuits. How on earth could he have missed out on delicious morsels like these?! Kim picked up a cookie and bit into it, relishing the crisp crunch and the heavenly flavor melting into his mouth. Chocolate really was a delicious treat.
THE best thing on earth.
Although, at the same time, he did like sweets of all kinds.
Since the cookies hadn't been there before, or at least Kim hadn't seen them before, he wondered if Bailey had brought them. After all, he knew she baked, so it stood to reason she might have brought them. "Did you bake those cookies, Bailey?" He asked, curious. "They're quite delicious. I like them crisp and crunchy, but I like the soft kind too." Kim admitted. If they had chocolate in them, they were bound to be good in his mind.

Laughing when Kim said it had taken them a while to figure out that they had met before, Bailey smiled at Marcel. “It’s true. It really took me convincing Kim to become my VP for the Peaceful Mind Club and him coming to the meeting for us to realize it. I don’t know if he realized earlier, but it took me that long to figure out. It’s quite obvious now, but hindsite is always 20/20.”
As she walked over to get another cookie, Kim followed. When he tried one, his eyes lit up. He finished chewing and then asked her if she had baked them. Smiling, Bailey said “Yes I did- do you like it? I added some of my mum’s vanilla extract that you liked so much- it’s the same extract I used in the meringue for the PMC meeting.”
After a pause, Bailey asked Lucia “Soo… what are we doing today? Are we discussing a particular book or talking about a book that we like, or giving recommendations? Do you have anything planned?”
Walking over to a chair with her cookie, Bailey plopped down and munched on her cookie.

Kim shook his head when Bailey spoke.
"I knew it! I knew you used some of that vanilla extract!" He said with a smile.
Kim reached over and grabbed another cookie, chomping down on it within a matter of seconds. He grabbed a few more cookies and stuffed them into his cheeks, resembling a squirrel for a few seconds. Well, a squirrel to the UK population and a Quokka to the Korean population. He glanced over at Bailey again when she spoke to Lucia, asking about what today's purpose of their meeting was. Yes, he wanted to know that too! But the cookies here...
Well, at the time they were more important to him. Kim licked his lips and grabbed a handful of cookies to head over to one of the chairs with Bailey and took a seat next to her. He placed the Princess Bride down beside him. After all, he needed to hold the cookies with one hand and eat with the other one! This was the prime time to indulge, directly after lunchtime. And for some reason, he was incredibly hungry right now. "Did you bring a book?" Kim asked.
He was kind of curious because he'd brought one too.
