Sending you... Rabbits? pv

Backdated to April 3rd 2022, after class.
Clair had a weird love for animals, and she also had a way with them; maybe she got this from living on a farm her whole life, maybe it was just something special about her.
Well for the past few days Clair had been working with Comet, and well... Training her to carry messages, so far she had trained the rabbit to go to the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor common room doors, she had not yet taught her to go to the Common room's door of the snakes, she did not fully trust the basements to nit have something that would want to eat the poor rabbit.
Comet had also been trained to go to all the classroom (other then the ones in the basements) and to go to the Library, Courtyard, and Grounds. Everywhere else had not yet been taught to Comet, either because there had been no time for Clair to show her to those places.
The command was simple, Comet, Go to, and then where ever you want her to go, and then you just have to put the letter in her backpack and then give her the command, and point her in that direction, and she would go, only thing was that she did not really know who to give it to once she got there, so just anyone could get the letter.
Today Clair was going to test Comet out, she picked up the rabbit and put on the backpack with a letter inside* and then she put her down "Ok Comet, are you hearing me?" She watched the Rabbit intently, "Go to, the grounds." She put her down and watched as the rabbit paused for only a second and then went towards the grounds, just like she had been told.

*The letter said:
Dear Friend!
I hope you are reading this right now after seeing a black and white rabbit either walk up to you or by you, thank you for taking the time to check on her! Her name is Comet and she is a very good girl, I do know that she is out on her own, I was the one who sent her out, I'm testing her skills of how good at being a Messenger she is, I've been teaching her!
If you could give her a pat and the treat that is at the base of her backpack that would be amazing, if you could also write on the paper that you'll see i have in closed in this letter where and when you came across her that would be amazing! To send her back to me all you have to say is 'Comet go Home!' Or 'Comet, Go to the Ravenclaw common room' and I'll get her, and again Thank you!
Comet's trainer and owner,
Clair Fernandez.

─────It was a lovely day, and spring was finally making her appearance known in the Scottish highlands. After the snow had come what felt like endless drizzle and mist so cold that it cut through cloaks and went straight for the bone. Sylvie had been grateful to see the sun greeting them bright and early this morning, and had quickly made up her mind to make the best of it.

Despite the sun, it was still chilly, and the grounds were still a little damp. Sylvie had wrapped herself in her school robe and House scarf, brought an old wool blanket to sit on, and packed a few books and some writing materials in case she felt like focusing on her homework instead of just daydreaming the whole time. Thanks to a quick stop at the Kitchens beside the Hufflepuff Common Room, she had received a thermos filled with some spiced tea. She wondered if the thermos was magic that would keep it at just the right temperature, or if it was just a regular thermos that would do the same thing…

After finding a grassy knoll that was satisfactorily guarded from the wind, yet open enough to receive full sun, Sylvie laid out her things, took off her shoes, pulled her legs beneath her, and began reading. It was just a story, but it was good to start with the easy stuff and work yourself up to schoolwork.

Some time passed, chapters were read, tea was had, and Sylvie had started to recline in the sun instead of read. It was as she was in this half-nap that she saw a rabbit coming towards her. How cute! And it was wearing… a backpack? In her surprise, she let out a small laugh and sat up. The rabbit hopped closer and closer, before finally stopping before her.

How delightful!! Sylvie eagerly reached out and pet the rabbits’s little head. Its nose did that cute rabbit twitch and her heart melted pretty much completely. Opening the backpack, she found a letter, which she read.

You’re really a smart one, aren’t you?” she asked the rabbit, looking over the parchment at the bun. “Well, Comet, you deserve a treat!” Obedient to the letter’s request, Sylvie reached into the backpack and pulled out a treat which she gave to Comet. She gave the bun another good pat, as well. “Wait just a moment, you pearl of rabbits, and I’ll have a reply for you!

Taking up some of the offered parchment and the quill she had stored in her bag (this was much better than homework!), Sylvie wrote:
Dear Clair,

Thank you for sending out your dear bun! Comet is very cute and lovely! She delivered the letter to me on The Grounds. I am sitting on a Grassy Knoll. Receiving a letter delivered by a rabbit while sitting on a grassy knoll makes me feel like a hero in a story! Did Macbeth take place on a knoll? I would not like to be in that story. I must be careful about what stories I fall into.

By the way, I am Sylvie Hawthorne! It is Hawthorne with an ‘e’. Many people spell it without the e, but that is wrong. In my town there is an interior design store called the Hawthorn House. If it had an ‘e’ I would find it a very cute coincidence!

I am from Hufflepuff. If Comet can return to the Ravenclaw Common Room, I suppose that means you’re from Ravenclaw? My friend Zelda is also in Ravenclaw! We are both first years.

What is your favourite class at Hogwarts? Mine is Charms! I like Potions, too, though I am only average. I do not like History of Magic. Do you have magic you want to learn? I want to learn how to make instruments play by themselves!

I hope you are having a good sunny day. Don’t spend all day indoors—the Ravenclaws I know find that very easy to do! I shall return Comet to you now.

Your new friend,
Sylvie Hawthorne
So finishing the letter, she rolled up the parchment and placed it into Comet’s backpack.

Comet, go home!” she commanded, and watched in amazement as Comet left her and hurried back to the castle.

Clair had gone back to the door of the Ravenclaw common room, and had hoped like crazy that no one would come up, because explaining that she was not locked out, but waiting for her rabbit that had gone to the Grounds to return.
Yeah that would be a very awkward moment!

As she waited she felt like time was ticking very slowly, if only she had a watch that worked with magic!

After a while she seen Comet hopping towards her, walking towards the rabbit she seen that Comet's Backpack was still in place, that was good so far.
She cuddled the rabbit for a few minutes before putting her down and looking in her backpack, sure enough there was a reply, good.

Reading it quickly she smiled "Good Bunny! You did it!"
Deciding to write back to Sylvie, Clair got some Parchment and started to write out her reply:

Dear Sylvie;
Thank you once again for checking in on Comet! She arrived at the Ravenclaw dorm safely about ten minutes ago, and yes, your guess was correct! I am indeed a Ravenclaw, and I seem to have every trait , Hufflepuff is the best house -well tied with Ravenclaw of course ;) - I have a few friends in that house, including Simon Kincaid, you might have met him, he seems to know everyone, I really love Charms class too! Flying is pretty fun too, I won't lie.
I do find History of Magic a boring one, but Transfiguration is hard but fun too!
I'm also a First year, I might have met Zelda, though the name does not pop into my head right away as someone who I've met, maybe one day I'll meet them!
I'll try not to spend too much time inside, but I do agree with them! It's very easy to forget about time!
Your friend
-Clair F.
Clair folded the note up, and put it in Comet's backpack.
"Comet, Go to the Grounds." She commanded, watching as the rabbit turned around and started to hope away, hopefully towards the Grounds.

─────Sylvie had watched as Comet hopped out of sight, then turned back to watching the clouds and enjoying the day. She wondered if she’d receive a reply, or if this was just a test of Comet’s skills? It sounded like a lot of running for the poor thing! Wasn’t the Ravenclaw Common Room in a tower?! To go there from the grounds and back again would really tax the poor thing’s heart.

But it is a witch’s companion… she thought to herself. Maybe it can handle it!

She rested against the palms of her hands as she leaned back, but she was quickly bored. Her conscience startled to niggle at her; if there were readings to do, she should probably do them.

I’m only doing this for the House Cup,” she told her History of Magic text as she pulled it out of her bag.

After some reading (and some yawning), there was something soft and warm nudging her thigh. It made her give a start, but when she looked it was just Comet. She exclaimed with joy. He was back! (She?)

Sylvie read the letter Comet had delivered, then wrote her own.
Dear Clair,

I’m so glad you like Hufflepuff! I think Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw are natural allies. Except when we are neck-and-neck for the House Cup—like we are now! I want to win so badly! What about you? Do you care about the House Cup or sports?

I don’t know Simon Kincaid, but I do know of him! He’s a broom racer for Hufflepuff—he won the last race! I wish I had seen it, but I didn’t go that day. I’m going to make up for it by going to the next one! What about you? Do you like broom racing? Are you in any clubs or sports? Will you go to the matches next week? I hope it will be sunny then, too!

Transfiguration is hard! I need to practice more. :’(

I will have to keep my eyes out for you in class! There are so many first years it’s hard to know everyone.

Sincerely,
Sylvie
Sylvie tucked the parchment into Comet’s backpack and sent the bun off again.

Clair had decided that it might tire the rabbit out running up and down the stairs of the Ravenclaw tower, so she walked down the steps to the base, so that the rabbit would not have to walk as far.
She waited a few moments, and then decided to read.
Running up the stairs she told the knocker the riddle's answer, and then rushed inside, getting a book she rushed back out, and down the tower, and started to read, after a few moments she noticed Comet walking back, the Rabbit stopped sniffed her and then started up the stairs
"Hey hey bey little miss!" Picking up the rabbit she kissed her little wiggling nose,
"I'm here, not up there!"

Checking Comet's backpack, Clair seen that the bunny had brought back a note, reading it she smiled.
Taking out her quill and another piece of Parchment she started to write, while giving the rabbit a drink from her glass of water.
Dear Sylvie:
I agree, It seems that Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw are a very good mix, I think that Ravenclaws are almost like Puffs, other then the fact that we spend most our time in the library, but to be honest, I think that The house of Hufflepuff has most the other house traits just mixed together and then some of their own traits mixed in to add a cherry on top! It's a great house.
Yeah, I'm a Broom Racer too! In the last match I was against him, I'm happy for him in his win, in the next race we are going to race The Lions, and I'm sure we'll do better this time, we all learned from the last race.
I am in a few Clubs, far to many to list of sadly, I do love sports! And I guess I'll kind of have to be at the races next week, I don't think I'll have time to watch Simon's race sadly, because I'll have to get my broom ready, I like to spend at least a hour cleaning it and fixing it on a normal day, and before the races I like to spend extra time on it, and on getting myself ready too.
Are you in any sports?
Yes! I'll do the same thing! Maybe I'll see you at the next broom race too!
Yours
-Clair F.
She signed the note and gave it to Comet, who by now had finished drinking and was watching around her intently.
"Ok, Comet, Go to the Grounds." Clair commanded, watching the rabbit start to hop away.
