"What? You didn't think I had a date?"
Felix fought the urge to say ‘no’ right then and there. Truthfully, he hadn’t thought the pipsqueak had ever even spoken to a girl in his life- it was already a shock seeing him here with Gem. The gryffindor didn't seem to be any better with boys either- Felix was vividly reminded of their last encounter in the history of magic classroom. Although he didn't exactly blame him for shying away that first time. Felix could be intense upon first meeting, for a number of reasons.
"Did you think I'd be going with you?" Felix studied Kim’s expression.
Felix was taken slightly aback from the bold statement, even if he didn't show it.
“Oh, so you do speak?” He raised a brow at the younger boy. “Well, just to make it clear- I would never go to a ball with you.” He said; and his voice harboured none of the previous playfulness that his mocking words had been laced with before. He swept his gaze over the face of the gryffindor before catching Gems gaze just as she spoke; telling him to fuck off politely. Whilst his attention was fixated on Gem, he saw Kim's eyes narrow out of the corner of his eye. What was his problem? Instead of throwing Gem a reply to her snarky comment, Felix turned slightly to glare back at the gryffindor, but was surprised to see that Kims gaze was, not on him, but on the hufflepuff girl next to him. Without thinking, he pulled the girl closer to him, dropping her hand and instead protectively draping his arm over her shoulders.
“Don't look at my date like that.” He pulled the girl even closer. “You and Gem can fuck off and leave now, im done talking to you.” It was undoubtedly a hypocritical statement, since he was the one who had approached them. But he was Felix, and Felix always had to have the last word. “I hope you have a horrible day.”
He turned on his heel, not turning back as he strode back down the corridor with the hufflepuff girl in his grasp. As they rounded the corner, Felix dropped his arm from around her shoulders and reached to grasp her hand instead. It was a surprisingly warm gesture, and even Felix himself was embarrassed at the kindly skinship. Since when did he act warmly like this? Sure, it wasn't like he hadn’t held a girl's hand before, because he had, but rather that this time it was out of pure benignity and not just taking the piss out of someone. It would be very much like Felix to have dropped her hand and snarled at her, or to have shoved her away the second Gem and Kim were out of sight; so it was unusual that he found himself grasping onto her hand tightly as he walked briskly for a short while, forgetting that his long strides may be difficult for her to keep up with. He didn't stop however, and continued to walk swiftly until he reached the abandoned toilets and kicked the door open, pulling her in with him.

If Gem hadn't laid a hand on him and pulled him back, Kim didn't know what would have happened. He might have done something he would have regretted later on.
Gem had a way of pulling him back from the brink so that his sanity would return. He looked back down at his 'date' to the ball as Precious spoke. A sigh escaped his lips and he nodded, reaching over to ruffle her hair a little. Despite himself, he glanced back over at Felix again as the boy left with the girl called Akemi. Kim didn't understand why he felt somewhat drained now. It had to do with meeting Felix again, didn't it? So what if Felix had a date to the ball?
A date with a simpering girl.
A girl that clung to him like a lifeline.
That little -----, Kim wasn't going to finish that thought of his.
'You're the handsome one.'
God, the girl's words grated inside his mind and replayed over and over.
SHE WAS WRONG!
Felix wasn't handsome, he was pretty. Too pretty, if you asked him. Kim scowled to himself at Akemi's words and tone of voice played around inside his mind in circles.
She wouldn't stop!!!

Kim suddenly slammed his fist into the wall and upon releasing all the stress that had built up inside him felt good again. He turned back around to face Gem and then offered her an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that, I needed to release some steam." And now he was back to normal again. Testosterone was a scary thing when it came to boys. He let his blue eyes flicker over her. "So about what you said, let's have a talk about it." He said.
"Do you really want to go to the ball with me?" Kim asked, with an arched brow.

“I hope you have a horrible day.” Felix snarled. Then he rounded the corner and disappeared, taking poor Akemi with him.
Gemima gaped after them, then closed her eyes and shook her head, trying to rid herself of the agitation that was running through her skin. She hoped that what she had said earlier would be true. She actually was really excited for the ball, and she wouldn’t let a little drama ruin her first school dance.
Kim slammed his fist into the wall behind them, sending dust flying. Gemima leapt back in shock.
“What the hell!” she squeaked.
Was he okay? Now she was absolutely sure that intervening earlier had been the right decision. Kim was more volatile than she had first thought.
The Gryffindor sighed and turned around to face her. He beamed, as if the last several minutes never happened at all.
“Sorry about that.” he chirped. "I needed to release some steam."
Gem narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously. Boys...
“All right, then.” she sighed. “Look, don’t be too cross with Akemi. She’s a very lovely person. And she’s my friend too, so I don’t need you two fighting.”
She glanced over in the direction the two Hufflepuffs had gone off in. “I’m sure she had her reasons for playing along with… him.”
Slowly but surely, the dust settled, as did her thoughts.
Then the realization of what had just happened, what she had just gotten herself into—hit her like a truck.
“Oh, Merlin...” she whispered. Gem leaned against the wall and slowly slid down until she was on the floor. She didn’t know what to feel—she was still pissed at the Hufflepuff boy, confused at Akemi, and worried about Kim.
She held her head in her hands as all the emotions in her body swirled into a silent panic. Her breath hitched in her throat, and her heartbeat was deafening in her chest. All her confidence evaporated into thin air, and her mind was clouded with whys and what ifs.
It wasn’t a full on panic attack, but she still felt horrible all the same. Her head felt foggy, but in her daze she noticed Kim’s shiny uniform shoes still standing next to her. Right, Kim!
Gemima took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself. She rested her chin on her fists.
“I’m sorry…about all of this. That boy gets on my nerves, and I don’t know about Akemi, and I-I’ve…made a mess of everything.”
Her voice cracked slightly as she spoke, and her eyes burned.
Shit. Am I going to cry? Maybe she was just really overwhelmed by everything.
“Do you actually want to go to the ball with me?” Kim asked curiously.
Gemima felt her cheeks warm at that. She leaned forward so that her hair covered her face, and so that she didn't have to look at him. Everything was just too much right now.

He looked down at Gem when the girl spoke, asking him not to be too mad at Felix's date.
Right.
She seemed to know the girl, Akemi her name apparently was.
Well, that was great, Kim thought to himself sarcastically and then frowned, his brow creasing a little. Wait, why was he so upset about this? It wasn't as if he liked Felix. Stalker was someone he didn't like. He blinked, uncertain now. He was acting weird and that was not normal for him. A sigh escaped his lips as his head started to hurt and he shook his head, trying to banish such thoughts. The pretty boy could go and date what/whoever he wanted to.
"Why would I get mad at her? It's not like I care about that stalker." Kim said with a huff. Gem's next words made him raise a brow. "Wait, what do you mean 'playing along' with him?" He asked, not understanding her words. Did that mean what he thought it meant? But why would Felix do something like that to someone? Then again, Felix was a stalker. He wouldn't put it past him to do pretty much anything if it got him what he wanted.
As Gem suddenly muttered a few almost indecipherable words and then slid down the wall, Kim looked back over at her. "You alright?" He asked, his brow creasing a bit again. The boy stooped to place a hand on Gem's shoulder and massaged it gently, in an almost affectionate manner. It was a gesture he normally didn't do for people, but he cared for Gem, which was apparent by his actions. "Take a deep breath, let it out slowly." He told her.
Kim wasn't entirely sure why Gem was reacting like this. Could it have been Stalker's fault? Felix did have a way about him that made other people annoyed, mad, afraid or other negative feelings. As Gem raised her head and spoke, Kim nodded. It was as he'd thought before. It was Stalker's fault. He blinked at her words. "How is it your fault? It's Stalker's fault. He's the one who caused this mess in the first place." Kim told her.
He didn't mention Akemi because she was Gem's friend.
But he also blamed her for this situation too. Still, it was mostly Felix's fault.
Gem leaned forward so that her hair covered her face and mumbled something about how he didn't have to go with her since she'd sprung it on him out of nowhere.
Kim smirked and leaned down to gently press his lips upon her forehead, albeit a forehead covered by her hair. He reached out to place a finger beneath her chin and slowly raised her head up until her eyes met his. "Don't be sad, smile!" Kim said and gave her a V sign, to show that he'd fully recovered from the incident. He even tried to make her smile or laugh by doing some rabbit ears on his head and acting all cute, not something he tended to do often.

"Take a deep breath, let it out slowly." he said gently.
She obeyed, sucking in air through her nose, and breathing it out through her mouth.
In, out. In, out. It's going to be fine, I'm going to be fine. Her vision became a little clearer, and she opened her fists. All fine.
Kim said something, then, and it took her another few moments to know what he was saying. Gem waited for her heartbeat to slow down before she formulated a reply.
She sniffed hard, and nodded slowly. "Right, it's his fault. He's the one who came up to us in the first place."
Akemi would never go out with someone like him. At least, Gemima thought so. But then again, she hadn't known Akemi for that long. Maybe the Stalker did actually ask her to the ball. And who was she to doubt or infringe on her friend's happiness, if in fact, she did accept?
It was Akemi's choice, after all.
Gemima sighed. She had meant what she said to the two, earlier. She would prefer to avoid any conflict, or drama at the upcoming celebration. It was supposed to be a fun time! But with the animosity still lingering in the air, she knew that probably wouldn't be the case.
She felt a slight pressure on the crown of her head. Her face flushed bright red.
What--?
Then Kim tilted her chin up, with one single finger, and she thought that she might combust on the spot. She stared up at him, wide eyed, her heartbeat speeding up yet again.
For a boy who was so tongue tied by another moments ago, he seemed to have great flirtation skills of his own.
"Don't be sad, smile!" Kim chirped.
Gem watched in amusement as he went and acted all cute. What was that called--aegyo? She'd seen it online before, back home, but it was entirely different seeing someone do it in front of her. She snorted quietly and gave Kim a slightly watery smile.
"Thank you." she said softly. He was sweet.
She got to her feet, wiped her eyes, and straightened out her skirt. Maybe the ball wouldn't be so bad after all. She could handle whatever that boy threw at her, no question! She was going to go and have a truly magical evening with her friend, and leave all those messy feelings and the drama behind.
Gemima turned back to Kim and tightened her bag strap on her shoulder.
"I'll go with you, if you'll have me," she replied.
She bounced on the balls of her feet, finally feeling like herself again. Then she smiled, nice and wide this time.

Of course it was Felix's fault.
Whenever something went wrong, it was always Felix's fault.
Felix. What a great name for such a great person. From what he remembered, Felix meant happy and lucky in Latin. Neither of which seemed to apply to Felix Jeong.
Or maybe it did and Kim just didn't know about it.
It wasn't as if he'd done any kind of research on Felix before.
Yeah, the fact that he was so pretty was Felix's fault too. Kim shook his head, trying to clear his mind. Let's not get too invested in Stalker again. Not when he was almost back to normal.
He grinned at her when she gave him a watery smile and thanked him.
"It's what I do." Kim said off-handedly with a shrug of his shoulders. As soon as Gem got to her feet and straightened her skirt, the Gryffindor knew she was fine. She seemed able to focus again, like him, and Kim tilted his head to the side and back again, easing out some kinks. When she spoke again, agreeing to go with him, Kim nodded. Upon hearing Gem's chirpy voice ask him to walk with her to her Charms class, his lips twitched with amusement.
"Oi. You're taking advantage of me now, aren't you?" Kim teased and shook his head. But as Gem started to walk, Kim followed her by her side.
