An Accidental Friend

Getting dressed, Bailey realized that it was Thursday. She had a free period just before lunch, and she had a plan on how to use it!My outfit:
Finishing up her breakfast of cereal, a bagel and cream cheese and a fried egg, Bailey hurried to her first lesson. When it was over, she hurried to the Courtyard. It was quite empty because so many students were still in their classes. Setting down her bag, Bailey grabbed her book and climbed up the first few branches of a tree. She settled down in the cross of two branches and opened her book. Swinging her legs over the edge, Bailey opened her book. It was one of her favorite muggle books which her mum had sent her in her most recent care package. It was titled
The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien. It was quite a popular book, and had also been turned into a movie series.
Looking at her silver watch, she realized that it was almost lunch time. Jumping the four or five feet to the ground, Bailey grabbed her bag and stuffed her book inside. Standing up, she realized a girl was standing right in front of her. The girl was a Gryffindor, by the patch on her robes. She also looked to be a first year, but who knows. Her hair was long, waist length, onyx colored, and it was in a neat braid. Her skin is a light olive color, and was also very tan. Her eye are a dark warm brown. She was a pretty girl, and so Bailey decided to introduce herself. “oh… sorry I didn’t see you there. My name is Bailey. Bailey Glade. What is yours?” As she said her name, Bailey stuck out her hand for a handshake.

An Accidental Friend
Mina looks up and flashes a smile, “Oh, I did not see you either! I’m Mina. Mina Starr.” She looked at Bailey Glade, blond hair, blueish eyes and slightly tanned skin. She takes Bailey’s offered hand and shakes it and then quickly lets go. She shifts in her feet, closing the book she was holding after looking at the page number and memorizing it.
She looked up at the tree the girl had jumped from and tilts her head slightly, “So, you like climbing trees? And reading in them?” She was feeling slightly lonely, not surprising, seeing as she had not even talked to any of her own house mates since arriving at Hogwarts. Witch was sad, as she had been here for a bit. But she never made friends easily, she was always to blunt with her answers, rude even, and when she did make a friend, she eventually lost them due to ‘unfair treatment’.
She looks back to Bailey, watching the girl and waiting for her answer. She reached up and pulled on her own hair, a nervous habit she could never get rid of, no matter how many times she tried. She wrapped the lock around her finger and then let it go, dropping her hand.

The girl introduced herself as Mina Starr. Mina shifted, and closed her book. She then asked if Bailey liked climbing trees and reading. “Actually… I do. I used to climb and explore with my brothers all of the time. Do you have siblings? Or do you like climbing or reading? I have not found many people here that like climbing trees like me.My outfit:
Being the friendly person she was, Bailey immediately wanted to make Mina her friend. are you a first year? And in griffindor? I’m just guessing because I don’t remember you from my sorting. I’m a second year, Ravenclaw. And I guessed the griffindor because of the patch on your uniform. What is it like in Griffindor? I have always wondered what it is like in other forms… sorry… I was rambling wasn’t I?” Stopping her rant, Bailey blushed and looked down at her boots. She seemed to be doing this more and more often.
Looking back up at Amina, Bailey wanted for her to speak. Her fingers were crossed that she did not just stun Mina with all of her blibber blabbering. Sorry if that was too much talking. I can get a bit carried away sometimes …

Mina smiles and waits patently for the girl to finish whatever she was saying, being a talker herself, she knew what it was to just talk and get it all out. “Oh, it’s no problem,” she said when Bailey finished, “I talk a lot myself.”
She hums softly, thinking about the questions Bailey had asked, “Yes, yes, yes, and yes, yes. And I do not really know, I have not really talked to my housemates much. I’m usually studying or reading.” Mina smiles, “As to my million yes’s. Yes, I have siblings, a little brother, Nathaniel, or Nate as we all call him. And yes, I enjoy climbing sometimes, at home it was the only way to get away from my family and all their craziness. And reading. . . Books are life! Yes to Gryffindor, obviously,” She motions to the patch on her robes. “ though I sincerely thought I would get Ravenclaw, I have so many Ravenclaw attributs, or that’s what my family said. And yes, I’m a first year.” She closes her eyes for a moment, thinking, “That answers all your question so far, right?” She waits for the girls response, whether it was a simple yes, or another barrage of questions.

An Accidental Friend
As Bailey waited for Mina to respond, she thought that was a lot… I really should learn how to keep my mouth shut. I am going to start loosing friends because of it.@Mina Starr
When Mina answered with a yes to all of her questions, Bailey smiled. Then Mina elaborate, saying that she had a younger brother named Nathaniel or Nate for short. Then she continued, saying that she liked climbing, and that reading was life. Bailey heartily agreed with her on the last one; being Ravenclaw had just made her feel more connected to books. Mina then said that she was a Gryffindor and a first year, and Bailey smiled again. She was getting quite good (or that’s what she told herself) at guessing peoples houses and years.
When Mina asked if that was all of her questions, Bailey answered with a Yes. Realizing that Mina might have some questions for her, Bailey then continued, asking “Do you have any questions for me? I know I asked a lot of questions and it is only fare if you get to ask some of your own.
Looking at the girl across from her, Bailey got a feeling that she and Mina were going to become very good friends.

An Accidental Friend
Mina smiles and runs her hand through her hair and leans on her left foot slightly, “Uh, no. . . Not yet anyways, I might later though.” She huffs a laugh, “I almost always have questions, but anytime someone asks if I have a question, they flee my mind.”
She turns slightly beckoning for Bailey to follow as she walked to a near by bench and sat down, “Okay, here are a few. Where are you from? How do you like Hogwarts so far? And. . . What do you like the most about it so far?” She laughs softly, “And don’t worry, I have more.”
She smiles and leans back against the bench, watching Bailey and waiting for the girl to follow her, “I’m from Britain, I think Hogwarts is an. . . Interesting school and the library I have to say.”
She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, sucking in the air and enjoying it. Being stuffed up in a school all day meant she didn’t get fresh air. And she thrived on fresh air. She took another deep breath and opens her eyes, looking at Bailey. She smiled and waits for the girl’s answers to her questions.

An Accidental Friend
When Mina said that when someone asks her if she has questions the questions she did have just flee her mind. Bailey nodded, understanding the feeling. This happened to her whenever she went to the doctor or dentist.Word count: 210 ish

Then Mina thought of a few questions. She asked….where I am from, what I like about Hogwarts so far, and what I like so far.
Then she answered the questions for herself. After Mina stopped speaking, Bailey took it as her turn to answer the questions.
“Um… well I am from Leeds, in England. I really like all of the people here and learning so many new things. And my favorite thing or place is definitely the library, although exploring Al of the grounds is a lot of fun. Have you explored the grounds? There are definitely places I have not seen, and maybe we could go explore them together. I mean, if you want to and have time.”
Blushing at her last, awkward phrase, Bailey looked around. She smelled food… is it lunch time already? Wow how fast time passes. I’m going to finish this conversation first th laugh. I wonder what is for lunch.
While Bailey was thinking this, Mina began to speak again.

An Accidental Friend
((So sorry about the late response, I’ve been super busy.))
Mina listens to Bailey answer her questions and she nods, “The library os so big! But it’s more space for more books!” She said in a rush. Her mother always said Mina could speak a mile a minute, and most of the time, Mina could believe it. She just had so much to say in a certain amount of time that she just rushed it out. And, she smelled food and she realized how hungry she was.@Bailey Glade
“So, you’re not to far away from where your from.” She smiles slightly and when asked if she explored the grounds yet, she shook her head, “No, not really, I’ve been busy trying to get settled so far. And of course, exploring with a. . .” She hesitated for a second, wondering if Bailey was or would be her friend, and then finished, “A friend is always much better than exploring on your own.” She enjoyed finding new things, especially with others, she had always found it better when exploring the town she grew up in with her little brother, even if Nate never wanted to go. She knew he had always had fun as well, away from the watchful eye of their mother.

An Accidental Friend
Talking with Mina was nice. She was a great person and Bailey felt like they were going to be good friends.@Mina Starr
As Mina explained that she had not had a lot of time to explore, and Bailey nodded. She had found so many new rooms since coming back.
As Mina was talking, Bailey’s stomach rumbled. When Mona stopped talking, Bailey said “Do you want to go eat lunch? We can eat together so we can continue our conversation, or we can part ways here. Either way, it was a lot of fun taking with you. And if you ever need anything, feel free to ask.”
After she had said this, Bailey’s mind went into overdrive overthink what she had said. Hopefully that’s not insensitive. Is it? What could have been? Will she accept or what? Did I startle her with that? Was it too much?
Bailey was prone to overthinking a bit, and was grateful when Mina spoke up, interrupting her thoughts.
As Mina talked, Bailey was also thinking to herself it really does not matter what she says. You will be fine and maybe you will see her around the castle. And if she makes it to the tournament, you will definitely be there to cheer her on. Realizing that she had not asked if she had submitted her name, Bailey asked “Did you submit your name for the Hexwizard tournament?”Word count: 230 ish

An Accidental Friend
Mina shakes her head, “No, sorry, I really need to read my Charms book.” She holds up the tome she had found in the library with Clair’s help, “But we can always find each other and explore after that, I’m sure you;ve found some cool places you could show me.”
Mina was hungry and she really wanted to sit down and read the book, hoping it would help her with her Charms homework, she’d read her book that she had gotten from Diagon Alley, but it hadn’t helped much so she had gotten this one, hoping it would help more. She felt bad, she hadn’t really been paying attention when to professor was talking. Mina loved school, and learning but she had been preoccupied during class.
She thinks about her homework and remembers looking down on the parchment and frowning not understanding the questions, she had written down what she could remember of the rules but she had needed to read the books to answer some of the other questions. She was certain she had gotten them wrong, but she was currently coasting on her O on her first flying homework and was confident in her answers for Charms, but she still wanted to read, just for feature reference.
