Disclaimer: Permission for this thread has been approved by Professor Irons and Nurse Brumby

OOC Disclaimer: As previously mentioned, This thread will feature plants that are used in potions; however, being involved in this thread does not mean you may use that knowledge to harvest these plants outside of this thread (since there is no official system for these sorts of activities). Also, no matter what occurs your character will not be able to keep any harvested plants outside this thread. All harvested plants will be given to the Hospital Wing and if you are caught attempting to sneak a plant out you may get in deep trouble. Thirdly, do not interact/RP harvesting the plants until Professor Irons or Nurse Brumby have given clear instructions on how to do so.

Hunter walked towards the greenhouse as the sun shined through the glass planes surrounding the area. Today the Alchemy club was going to have a much more interactive meeting. Now Hunter himself always enjoys reading alone and minding his own business, but that didn't quite feel like the sort of activity that would bring in and keep club members. He wanted to expand on what the Alchemy club is capable of. Alchemy was interesting because it focused on transfiguration, muggle chemistry, potions, and much more. It had the potential to defy the rules of both wizards and muggles. The Philosopher stone is capable of prolonging life, and as years go by, the life expectancy of individuals has always been increasing. Honing and improving one's own skills or knowledge for the greater good is what the Alchemy club should be capable of.

That is exactly what this exercise was, a way to learn and improve one's own knowledge for the greater good. Hunter had made a request ahead of time for the Alchemy club to help harvest and provide certain plants for the Hospital Wing. This way, they can learn to recognize these plants and know-how to collect them properly. These plants, in particular, were mostly or only useful in potions that provided health benefits. There was also a bit of Hunter's selfish side as well because he wanted to become a healer that specialized in potions. Thus this was a big win for him to conduct.

By the entrance of the greenhouse, he taped a long slip of paper with the following:
Dear Scholars,
Today we will be helping the Hospital Wing harvest certain plants that are utilized in potions. In Alchemy, we search to prolong one's own life. However, you cannot prolong your own life unless you can protect the life of others. As such, learning how to properly harvest these plants is very necessary to improve our knowledge of what Alchemy is capable of. I do apologize if some of you prefer the transfiguration side of Alchemy, but today is a bit more potion-focused. We will not be brewing potions, but just helping in providing the ingredients. I can promise you this will be rather fun because not all of these plants are normal! Also, Professor Irons and Nurse Brumby have been kind enough to provide the greenhouse and help us in knowing more about these plants and how to harvest them. Please show them the utmost respect as you always would, if you don't I will hear about it. Do not interact with any of the plants until instructed too by either Nurse Brumby or Professor Irons. Finally, you may work alone or find a partner to work with. I highly suggest working in groups in order to get to know your clubmates better! The three plants we will be dealing with are:

Star Grass, a medicinal herb utilized in a certain healing balm
Bubotuber, sometimes described resembling a large black slug, it provides the capable ways of removing acne or being used in a healing potion
Chinese Chomping Cabbage, Rather self-explanatory and used in Skele-gro, just please be careful and don't let it chomp on your own bones.

Nurse Brumby and/or Professor Irons will provide more information about each plant and how to handle them.

-Head Alchemist
Hunter was glad about what he provided within the paper. He decided to wait outside the greenhouse for the other members to show up. Soon enough, each one arrived one by one or within groups. He decided to enter the greenhouse with them all after each had read the paper.

Kels was used to collecting herbs, he had been doing it since he was a wee tike in the fenland of his home, helping his mum with useless muggle placebos. Sniffing, plucking, and eating were good enough ways to navigate the nitty gritty there, but in the magical world, the plants weren't always so keen on being investigated and harvested. It took years of schooling and horrible accidents for him to realize that, and he was going to be more than happy to spare the lives of whatever group of kids belonged to this Alchemy Club.

He had been approached a while back and thought the idea was swell, as he knew not every ingredient out there was going to be covered by Herbology or Potions. In fact, only a few kids would be interested in the subject of potions enough to take it past fifth year. It was good that they were curious, and he could even get some free child labor out of it, all while getting to hang out with his bro Tuesday.

The two adults would have been in the greenhouse already, making it so there would be enough of each plant to harvest. Kels would be bouncing around, glad to be out of the hospital for even a little bit of time, under the sun and getting to stretch his legs. When the kids started filing in, he'd wave at them excitedly, clearly stoked.
Open to Interaction
OOC: Kels and Tuesday are both in the greenhouse. After everyone posts at least once either entering, talking, or arriving (or enough time passes that we need to move on) one or both of us will explain an activity for everyone to partake in.

----Vale couldn't lie. The last meeting was just notes, as warned by the so-called 'Head Alchemist.' It was useful, but Vale couldn't help but desire education that was far more substance to it. The next meeting seems to be just that as she read the latest note given to the members of the club. It held the plants they would be handling that day, and how one of them was ready to eat everything in its wake.

Vale wished she could keep it as a pet. All the things she could possibly watch it chomp upon...!

"Hunter! Wow, you come here rather early. I wonder how you do that..."

The only club members Vale would really know was Avery, Hunter, and somewhat a bit of Cody. It wouldn't hurt to ask for their assistance, right? Even then, it wasn't like Vale couldn't work alone either.

"Would you like to partner up? Sounds like it might be tough, especially with the cabbage." She made a small smile. "Since you're the greatest at potions stuff." It was her attempt to butter up her cousin, just to see how well he is when it came to fieldwork. Their little bout back in potions class had it where Vale was searching for more excitement. And now that she had that chance...

"And very smart too."

Even better, if Vale finds out exactly who had exempt talent, she'd found her competition. Competition she couldn't wait to destroy in her own time, that is.

Hunter waited outside for a couple of minutes and was gaining a slight fear about whether anyone was going to be showing up. Eyes closed due to being slightly tired from his current studies, he was soon awakened and surprised to hear his own name in a familiar voice. Hunter swiftly turned his head to be greeted by none other than Vale and gave a meek smile due to the happiness of getting to see his distant cousin having shown up first.

He gave a small wave to the girl but waited a bit to let her read the note he had left on the greenhouse door. It eventually came to Hunter that he still needed to inform Vale that he was the club's leader since she had signed up to be an officer a while back during their second meeting. He planned to do it today, or at some point soon.

When Vale requested if Hunter would be interested in being her partner, he gave it some thought. For starters, Hunter was hoping to get to meet and interact with members he never met before. Despite his shy personality, Hunter wanted to uphold his status as club leader and fulfill responsibilities such as getting to know everyone. Still, he didn't want to hurt Vale's feelings: "Ah, I think Mr.Chen is a part of the club. He may be showing up at some point, wouldn't he be a better partner? I'm curious to see if the two of you will end up teaching the cabbage to start eating students by turning it into a giant or something." Hunter chuckled a little at the thought of a giant cabbage running rampant in the greenhouse and being so terrifying because it was eating students. It seemed ridiculous in his head, but his laughter soon died down in the realization that Avery and Vale could probably pull such a feat off if they wanted.

When Avery signed up for the Alchemy Club, he didn't know much about alchemy at all. A part of him was curious to find out what it was, but when he saw Vale Ashwood's name on the roster, he decided that it wouldn't hurt to sign up. In fact, if Vale was interested in Alchemy, it could be another common topic of discussion he could have with his friend, other than broom sports.

According to the rumors he heard, the identity of the club's Head Alchemist was a mystery. Well, that only brought on more intrigue, didn't it? He supposed it would be a nerdy, reclusive student with glasses, or something, because wasn't alchemy a lot of chemistry? Perhaps they were also an upperclassman, because the issue of their impending mortality was more urgent than that of a younger student. Also, weren't many alchemists in magical history old people, like Nicholas Flamel?

Avery approached the Herbology greenhouses, and found Vale already there. His eyes darted to another figure present. Hunter. And what was that? Was Vale asking to be partners with Hunter, because he was 'greatest at potions and stuff and very smart too'? Avery huffed, obviously green. The small boy picked up his pace, charging uphill.

"Ah, I think Mr.Chen is a part of the club. He may be showing up at some point, wouldn't he be a better partner? I'm curious to see if the two of you will end up teaching the cabbage to start eating students by turning it into a giant or something," Hunter chuckled. Speak of the devil, and here he appears. Avery Chen waved to both of them. "Hi Vale, hi Hunter," he wheezed, having worked his legs a bit too hard during the last leg of his charge. Thankfully, Hunter declined Vale's offer to partner up. "Better partner, present!" he raised a hand as if for roll call.

He glanced at the note tacked onto the door. “So, any idea who this mysterious Head Alchemist is? Do you think it’s some old dude or a student?” he asked.

As the year wore on, Evelynn found her schedule more and more difficult to balance. Already, she had had to reluctantly accept that she could not maintain all of her extra-curriculars and had withdrawn from several. There were still others from which she probably should have politely retreated, yet could not bring herself to do so. One of those was the Alchemy club. To date, she had hardly been able to manage a respectable attendance, regret piling onto guilt as the notifications came and went, some of them only noticed weeks later when she found them stuffed into a text as a forgotten placeholder.

This time, however, was different. When she had received message of the most recent invitation to join the other members alongside both the school's nurse and Herbology professor, she had blocked out time in her schedule to ensure her ability to attend.

"A student," Evelynn answered. Ahead, a small collection of younger students had already gathered, all of whom she recognized. "Argentum, Ashwood, Chen...A good day to you all."

She passed a cursory look over the lot of them as she finished her approach before glancing about to take stock of any of the others that had arrived and were hanging off to the side, or still on their way. As it was a Sunday, her school robes had been left in her trunk, her attire more akin to the typical muggle-like wear preferred by students on the weekend. Unlike most, however, she continued to shy away from jeans or casual wear. As far as she was concerned, just because they were going to be on a hunt to forage for flora did not mean she had to sacrifice fashion elegance in the name of practicality.

She wore an understated navy skirt that fell below her knees, something that would allow her modesty when bending and kneeling were required; and had paired it with a floral patterned, breezy short-sleeved blouse. Over her shoulder, she had slung her rucksack which no doubt contained any number of necessities for the most obscure and unlikely circumstances. And, of course, the normal needs such as water, a snack, a book or four, notebook, protective gloves, and the like. Her attention did not hold to their surroundings for long before returning to the trio, lips parting again to continue her unsolicited sentiment as though no time had passed at all.

"The only adults at the school are the professors and they would have no reason to hide their identities. Nor do I think it would be one of the elder year students either," she continued, one arm planting itself across her torso while the other anchored its elbow against the first and lifted fingers to splay thoughtfully along her jaw. "Transparency of an elder would only serve to ensure respect. This "Head Alchemist" seems to be attempting to present an air of intrigue and mystery in a way that seems to rely on their anonymity. I would hardly be surprised if it was a protégé of our own age..."

It was near the start of the month and Kim was still getting used to his new black hair. Well, technically this was his natural hair color. But he hadn't used it in awhile, having sported a white style the previous month. Upon finishing his lunch inside the Great Hall, he made his way out through the huge doors and realized time had flown. Sundays always seemed to, there was something about them that made you want to stop time. Or so it felt like to him.

It was the last day of the weekend. Perhaps that was the reason. It implied no more 'free' time to spend however you wished and back to classes for students and jobs for adults. Kim was about to go back to his common room and read some more of his book when he abruptly remembered something important. Avery had wanted him to come meet him at the greenhouse. He'd said he wanted to introduce him to the members of the Alchemy Club.

Not only that but he'd also mentioned that Kim could join too.

That was the important part.

Kim actually had a great interest in clubs, he found them incredibly interesting and thought he could learn quite a lot from them. Thus, Avery's invitation had been quite enticing.

It also seemed as if they didn't have to get up too early, which was awesome. So, Kim had told Avery that he'd try and come to the greenhouse if he wasn't too busy at the time. And now the time was upon him. He didn't really have anything to do right now, therefore he might as well go there. Kim didn't know much about the Alchemy Club, only that Avery was part of it and that the one in charge was someone called the Head Alchemist, a cool name for the leader.

Avery had told him no one had ever seen the Head Alchemist, which intrigued him. Kim had always been interested in things that no one else knew about. After all, knowledge was power. So if someone was trying to keep others from knowing about or learning of their identity, that was something Kim wanted to find out. Not to reveal or expose them but to have the knowledge. Kim headed out of the castle and looked up at the sky. It was a sunny afternoon.

Perfect for being outside.

If he remembered correctly, Avery had said they would be doing a field-trip of some sort.

Hopefully, Kim could get there in time before it began, if they had to leave. He was dressed in a sleeveless white t-shirt and black pants, since it was a warm afternoon. The Gryffindor had left his father's black canvas satchel back at his room, as he didn't think he would need it. Avery hadn't said anything about needing to prepare or take things with him, so he assumed he wouldn't need to. Upon reaching the greenhouse, Kim noticed a few students gathered.

One of which was Avery. He was talking to a girl with dark braided pigtails I'm assuming that is the hair style she is wearing from the banner you chose? and a boy who he didn't recognize. There was one he did recognize though and that was Evelynn Decipio. She was a prefect of Gryffindor and was also an editor and writer for the Hogwarts Headliner newspaper. If he recalled correctly, she was also the captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Go Lions! Roar!

Not that he followed Quidditch.

He didn't see the paper taped to the entrance of the greenhouse as of yet because Hunter, Vale and Avery were standing in front of it at the moment.

"Yo! Is this where the alchemy club is supposed to be having its field trip?" Kim asked as he approached the small group. "Avery told me to come here, since you guys were having a meeting around now." He told them and gave them all a nod as a way to greet them. "So what are we doing?" Kim asked, curious. "Ah, I'm Kim by the way." He said. Lately he'd been only giving his first name and only giving his last if they asked him.

Mostly because he didn't want people to recognize his last name.

Hunter was caught a bit off by Avery's sudden and almost perfect arrival. He didn't know Avery had quite the ambition of joining the club, but he also had the slight belief that Avery only joined to spend more time with Vale than actually learn. Nonetheless, Hunter was feeling more restful by the arrival of another student; especially one he was familiar with.

Hunter's slight anxiety and paranoia spiked a bit when Aver mentioned the 'Head Alchemist,' but was calmed a bit more by Avery's question. This was mostly thought-wise, not facial or physical in any sort of sense. Hunter's paranoia and focus typically allowed him to unconsciously avoid showing any sort of hints of feeling panicked and such. Even his shyness helped portray a facade of tranquility; however, it also portrayed him as a meek individual. He was about to respond till two more individuals had shown up. This was of course more exciting to Hunter, especially since it was two Gryffindors. Hunter had actually very little to no experience with Gryyfindors currently, besides Della Barfield who cast a few spells at him; though they never actually had spoken with each other. It was mostly Slytherins or Hufflepuffs that Hunter spoke with and on occasion a few Ravenclaws. Never a Gryffindor, and he presumed it was just due to an issue of his personality being more on the opposite side. After all, Hunter typically wasn't extremely daring or filled with courage. He was more of just someone in the back who wouldn't seek danger or knowledge unless he had 100% certainty of the outcome.

Back to the matter at hand, Hunter took note of the two individuals that approached. Evelynn Decipio was a familiar face to have seen, but not someone Hunter had interacted with strongly. He took out his journal, wrote her name, and began to take a few mental notes on the words that she said. Hunter tried his best never to be biased in his journal, only writing his own observational and educational interpretations to learn what he could about each student. Part of it was because he was curious about everyone, but a large part of it was because of his social anxiety and paranoia. The way Evelynn spoke was rather unique and surprising to Hunter. She answered Avery's question with confidence and gave rather good reasoning with it. Hunter's anxiety heightened a little. One would normally be impressed with those who could create intellectual statements. Hunter, on the other hand, would be wary of them; he took note to try and avoid any hints of his identity as the 'Head Alchemist' during this club meeting:
"I-I-I'd h-have t-to agree with Ms. Decipio," Hunter began to say at first. His yellow-tinted glasses still faced at his journal as he made the last few comments he could on Evelynn currently, and to avoid any sort of eye contact. Even though Hunter was surrounded by just four students, his fear of crowds was already being turned on. How Hunter survived a typical classroom was honestly a mystery to him. He gave a slight cough to reiterate himself, "I'd d-doubt it be an adult. At the first t-two meetings, they weren't even c-c-current and essentially left a bunch of students in an abandoned classroom to do what they felt fit. I'd expect that more f-from an s-student than a professor. To d-doubt it being an elder student is a slight l-long shot though. A-alchemy is s-supposedly an elective only taken in 6th and 7th years." Hunter was bound to list a bit more, but he worried that if he said anything else then Evelynn would start to pinpoint a few things.

The new arrival of Kim Sato was rather the best and worst part for Hunter. A new face and person to join the club which Hunter was glad about. He could also analyze Kim, and perhaps find his weaknesses and strengths as with everyone else. Hunter wrote 'Kim' into his journal, and decided to request his full name from Avery by the end of this field trip. Hunter was going to answer Kim's question but decided not to. Evelynn honestly made Hunter's paranoia spike a little too much and if he answered the question of someone he didn't know he assumed it would make it look like he was possibly taking charge. He decided not to say anything and just hoped that someone else who knew Kim would answer or that Kim would approach the door and notice the letter.

A perk of a brow met the stuttering affirmation of the younger Argentum. Void of any expression positive or negative, her gaze flicked form the others in attendance to fall upon the younger boy's downturned face. Sun glinted off the rim of his glasses, but it wasn't that reflection that would catch her attention. No, her gaze would fall to the book open in his hands, curiosity piqued by the scrawling of his quill. Given any lack of educational material or lecturer, there was very little that could be proimpting such a feverish hand. And by the precise and relatively tiny strokes, he wasn't in the midst of sketching. Could it be...

The quirk of her lips hinted at a smirk as the boy drew his own counter assessment to a close. "Mn.. quite right," Evelynn agreed, nodding genially in agreement with most of what he had said. "And yes, alchemy is allegedly a focus of interest geared towards the higher years." The lattermost argument, however, she would have to contest with. "And yet..." Here she panned her gaze over the faces present, an open and up-turned palm motioning to the lot of them. "It seems to have attracted quite the little gathering of younger years, has it not. Not a one of us a year above third." And that was being generous, given that she was only third year.

An exclamation of greeting signalled the latest arrival. Drawing a foot back and pivoting neatly to accommodate the newcomer. A movement that would conveniently bring her to stand next to the bespectacled little author (Hunter). But her attention was not for him, but rather on discerning the identity of the arrival: another Gryffindor. "It is, indeed, that location," Evelynn confirmed. Although to his latter question offered, I suppose we will have to wait for further direction." Bowing her head politely, she didn't deign offer any counter introduction to him. She had already done so on his first evening at the castle.

In the distraction of Sato's arrival, however, she wouldn't hesitate to take a very brief and furtive glance towards the contents of Argentum's notebook.

The Herbology professor couldn't help but feel that his ability to keep track of time has been slipping as of late. His mind has been elsewhere because of recent events in his life, and he just couldn't help but get lost in his work. Of course, the moment he had looked up from the ground, the man nearly yelled out loud in distress. How in the world could he have been so careless!

Hopping to his feet like some jackrabbit, the man took off from the seventh-year conservatory and sped across the small lawn that led towards the first greenhouse. However, thankfully that Tuesday had been early enough not to worry about showing up after the children. After giving Kelsey an apologetic look and smile, he just stood patiently for the flock of children to find their way within the glass walls of his sanctuary.

Scratching at the bottom of his bearded chin, Tuesday would calmly smile at all those who would enter. Hopefully, there was no indication of his mad dash towards the greenhouse. "If any of y'all have questions or comments, feel free to shoot them our way." Finally, speaking after several of the students filtered into the conservatory, Tuesday moved towards his desk at the front of his teaching area. Hopping up into his customary cross-legged position on top of the mahogany desktop, he waited patiently for those who may want to chat
