Was it already time for the Blossom Ball? Callista had spent much of the past year floating in an introspective pool of her own, grappling with her memories and tinkering with her heart. Thus, it came as no surprise that she was utterly unprepared for the ball. The day of, she stood motionless in front of her mirror, clad in a simple floral dress. This wasn’t like last year; there was no one for her to impress. There was no one who was waiting eagerly for her arrival, no one to cling to her hand, no one to dance with her under the midsummer moon. There was no reason for Callista to attend the ball.
And yet, she had ran her fingers over the soft silk of her gown, combed through her hair, and even adorned one of her beloved flower hairpins. Why was she going if there was no reason for her to be? Did she desire to be an eternal wallflower, awkwardly standing to the side and watching as the couples indulged themselves? Perhaps, there was a small part of her that hoped to run into Annie once again. Perhaps, there was a bit of her that longed to make things right.
That didn't mean it made it easy.
Callista arrived much later than everyone else, when the last few students were trickling in. The cobbled stone that lined the hallway was cool under her touch, cast in shadow by the looming doors that led into the Great Hall. Firelight danced on the floor beneath her feet, the background chatter of the gathering calling—taunting, at her, beckoning, Come, come! An all-encompassing fear seemed to root her to the ground, curling ivy tendrils around her softly-padded feet.
She wanted to run, run somewhere far, far away and never come back. She wanted to turn her tail, flee from the panic that threatened to consume her. But then what? Will she keep on running away from every opportunity? If she turned from every door she saw, how can she hope to realise her dreams? How can she touch the stars if she never takes off from the ground?
With a deep inhale, Callista turned—towards the door and into the hall.
Immediately, she was blown away. You’d think by now that she would no longer be surprised by the extravagant decor that seemed to inhabit every corner of the school. Still, the floral expanse that graced the walls of the hall took her breath away. Flowers—so many flowers. Dainty white chamomiles, rich red roses, elegant purple fleur-de-lis, and best of all—the soft pink petals of sakura blossoms. The floral fragrance seeped into every corner of the room, stealing the Hufflepuff's breath away and leaving her struck by the beauty of the atrium.
Callista reached out to brush the petals of a nearby sakura. Deep in her gut, something squirmed. The delicate flowers reminded her of soft silk and patterned felt, of tranquility and meditation, of humble tatami and ornate gold roofs, and her heart ached for it. For that feeling of reverence and belonging, for those moments where she could truly appreciate nature's beauty just as it is. With a wrench of her heart, she tore her gaze away from the flowers, losing herself instead in the crowd.
On all sides, she seemed to be surrounded by people. Short and tall, dark- and light-skinned, decked in suits and dresses alike. Her own simple attire seemed plain in comparison to some of the elaborate gowns she spotted. A few people were dancing already, while others were standing around chatting. Quickly, the bustling crowd enveloped the girl, swallowing her into its chaos.
She was cornered—a boy, or maybe it was a man, spoke to her—was it to her? What did he say? Callista couldn't hear. There was a strange thumping sound, and that was all she
could make out. Was that person looking at her? No, there was someone behind—they were heading this way, no, not this way. She tripped over someone's foot, or maybe it was the train of someone's gown, only barely catching herself before what would have been a humiliating fall.
Out. I need to—I need to get away—get out.
At some point, she must have stumbled her way through because the next thing she knew, Callista was leaned up against the opposite doors. Her breathing was erratic, but the thumping noise—was it her heartbeat?—was easing. Slowly, the chatter returned, her heart slowed, and her breathing evened out. She backed away from the students—she wasn't ready for this. She hadn't realised how much it had meant to have someone beside her, someone to steady and anchor her. With that absence, she wouldn't—couldn't—stay.
Turning away once again, Callista fled. A Cinderella-like scene, but she was not a pretty damsel rushing home at the strike of midnight. No, she was simply a coward, running for a breath of fresh air, running away from the overwhelming pressure of the room.
So she ran away after all.

Adelaide.
That was a cool name.
He would remember it. A smile came to his lips as Adelaide complimented his pink hair. "Thank you, it's my current color for the week!" Hiro said and nodded when Adelaide spoke of how she wouldn't forgive someone who did that to a dress of hers. Well, technically it hadn't been his dress, but she didn't need to know that. Regardless, Hiro was pretty easygoing mostly. He'd figure out how to repair it, or maybe get Akira to fix the dress for him.
Then again, hadn't Winnie told him to put the dress into her satchel? How could he fix it for her if he gave it back? Maybe he'd take it out again later on before Winnie left the ball. And if he was too late, he'd just pay her visit later on to see if he could take it to get it fixed for her. "Mm. Yes, I hope Mahoutokoro will host an event and invite foreign schools too. Or maybe another Hogwarts event when take place and we can return." Hiro said.
When his ripped dress was mentioned again, Hiro blinked.
Right.
He was still in the dress and had come this way to get changed into his original clothes.
"Ah, will you two excuse me?" Hiro asked as he looked from Pax to Adelaide. "I completely forgot that I was heading out to change my clothes. I really need to do that before I run into any more trouble. But I'm sure I'll see you guys later on tonight, so look out for me!" Hiro said with a smile and raised a hand into the air. With that, he left the area, clutching the ripped dress to his shoulder, as he made his way outside.

Interactions: Closed Actions: Signing up for Fire walking Obstacle, Exiting into Festival Area
The fourth-year had dyed their hair just for this event, tomorrow they would go back to purple. Though perhaps they would have to wait a few days before dyeing their hair again, Jay's hair could barely be called alive due to all the hair dyeing they've done. As they entered the great hall the burst of flowery scents hit their nose, resulting in a few sneezes and coughs." Bloody hell..." Jay murmured as they walked around the tables, trying to decide on which small foods to pick before heading off into the courtyard.
Almost everyone in the great hall was dressed up in all sorts of clothing, some were quite glamorous and extra. Jay couldn't help but to raise their eyebrows and mutter something to themself every now and then whenever they saw an outfit they thought insane. As they picked three cups of coffee jelly (they simply couldn't resist...), they saw multiple people dressed like some extravagant Disney princes and princesses. Jay Victoria made a mental note to stay away from those long capes and ginormous dresses for they may trip and fall.
As they put aside two of the cups they finished they saw some papers by the doors and people huddled around the area. With interest, Jay strolled up to the papers and saw that they were sign-up sheets for games. The one that interested them the most was the fire walking obstacle, it sounded a bit scary but how bad could it possibly go? It was finally their turn to sign up and they did so, writing in all caps plus a couple of smudges of coffee jelly.
Once they finished their last cup of coffee jelly (and removed an unfortunate stain on their skirt), they put down the cup and walked towards the open doors to the courtyard. This was going to be fun!

Sophia blushed at the sudden compliment. She wasn't used to getting compliments. The only people that normally complimented her were the old ladies that associated with her grandma, and those were terribly awkward compliments. They would normally go on about how much she was growing (which was the one thing every kid does), how tall she was getting (she wasn't), and various other vague remarks that were surprisingly meaningless despite their specificity. From Sage, it felt real, though, and Sophia didn't know how to accept a compliment correctly, so she just mumbled a quiet thanks.Interacting with @Sage Lilly
Then, she realized her own faux pas. She should have complimented Sage immediately, right? Wasn't that like normal etiquette? Sage was adorable, and Sophia wouldn't hesitate to tell her so, but she also didn't want to make things awkward with her own undoubtedly poor word choice. Either way, wasn't it too late now?
Deciding to chance it, Sophia mumbled, "You look very nice, too."
There. A neutral compliment that was surely wasn't out of place.
"Look at that," Sage gestured around, "your first magical party!"
Sophia smiled warmly. It was absolutely beautiful. The environment was very welcoming between the flowers, the fancy clothing, the food, and, most importantly, a friend to share it all with.
"It's so weird," she mumbled as she took in the sound of the music in the Great Hall, "I've never been to a dance that wasn't just filled with excessively loud pop music and dozens of people trying to nail the dance to Thriller or the Cha Cha Slide. How about you? You come from an important family, right? Your dad works for the Minister, doesn't he? I bet you have fancy parties like this all the time."
Her eyes trailed around the room, widening with every sight. The food was so, so inviting, and if she wasn't wearing a light-colored, easily stainable dress, she'd probably have dragged Sage over there with all of her strength (which wasn't a lot!). The music was amazing, but the idea of ending up a tangled mass of limbs in front of Sage was embarrassing enough just from thinking about it. Also, wasn't there some stuff going on outside, too? She could have sworn she'd seen the planning committee setting some stuff up out there from her view in the Common Room.
All in all, there was just so much to do, and Sophia was pretty overwhelmed. Instead of allowing herself to show it, she instead turned to Sage with a question in her eye.
"Do you have any recommendations? It sounds pretty overly dramatic, but I feel like my very soul is being divided between the food, the music, and whatever they have going on outside. I don't think I'm qualified for this kind of decision."
She hoped the joke served its purpose and tossed the ball to Sage's court. Sophia was curious what kind of things Sage liked to do in events like this.
Midspring Celebration
Taller now, beginning to have the description of "lanky", Oliver stood with a black shirt and black suit trousers. Pinned to his shirt was a feather, that of his late grandfather's. It originally belonged to a hippogriff which his grandfather owned. It was now a family symbol in which Oliver and his father's side of the family wore. They were magnificent in appearance, radiating the pride that comes with the beasts.
Oliver stood at the sidelines of the event, watching over the actions of mostly the older students. There was always trouble at these events, however Oliver wasn't sure why he was diligently focused on every action of interest taking place. He wouldn't intervene if he did spot trouble. Getting hurt or even killed for school activities was a sad joke. Oliver was patiently waiting for the day he could graduate from this school and begin his life. Recently it dawned on him that staff members had some vendetta against Oliver. The boy could understand it though, his mother was an ex Death Eater. Oliver's reputation and public life was ruined the moment he was born. The Ravenclaw missed his early Hogwarts days when his biggest worry was Erin Ryan, always anxious of being pummelled in the corridors or knocked off his broom in flying lessons. At least back then he had something to practice towards, an achievable goal to fulfil. But now, Oliver was met with the unstoppable force of the Hogwart's staff.
Thinking of Erin Ryan, Oliver happened to notice her in the crowd soon after. In her radiant dress and nicely done hair, Oliver felt she looked... alright. He could never place what people saw in the girl but he figured his perception of her was tainted by flashbacks of Erin fuming at the face as she used Oliver like a soft punching bag.
He watched as food flew past Erin which was in part some of the large amount of commotion that encircled the Slytherin. He stepped further into the crowd, trying to better hear the conversations containing Erin and the males she was with. It was then that he side eyed a raised wand and heard the cast "Slugulus Eructo!"
Oliver stepped forward, placing himself between Edward Smith and Erin Ryan and cast "Protego" in response. He was closer to Erin than Edward so if the slug vomiting spell were to miss, Oliver probably wouldn't block it. He didn't yell the incantation for his shield spell, he would have preferred not to be noticed randomly defending Erin Ryan when not being seen with her in public often. Nonetheless, if his spell backfired and he took on the brunt of the slug vomiting, he didn't mind. He would simply enact enough spellcasting that would bring his offender close to death. Perhaps not today, but soon.
Hopefully Erin could leave in peace.
Action: Attempting To Block @ Noah Jupe's Slugulus Eructo from hitting @Erin Ryan by casting Protego.

How had he not understood, not noticed, not once realised that Aurora was so rapt in her own insecurities? Had Nicholas grown so lost in his own mind and worries that he’d entirely neglected the obvious signs before him that she too was struggling? He’d always assumed the girl was confident, utterly and totally sure of herself and where she was, it was why she so often changed her hair colour, why she acted in such a way that all but declared that she didn’t care what people thought, why she was so boisterous. That had been an utterly foolish misconception, he knew that now. Those were not symptoms of confidence, but a lack of confidence, a projection of an image she wanted to show. It had taken him a year to understand that basic truth, and that length, that failure to understand exactly how she’d been suffering tore at him. He’d been terrible, a terrible friend, and an even worse not-boyfriend-whatever-they’d-been.
He did more than tolerate her, as strange as it would have been to consider when they first met, he cared deeply for the girl. In such a way that he didn’t fully understand. As he watched her, her eyes downcast, cheeks a brilliant shade of ruby, he could not help but feel his stomach twist into knots. All he wanted was for her to be okay, to dissuade the nervousness and self-doubts that seemed to beset her.
She spoke of him as if he were some kind of goal to reach, some kind of success story, when he knew he was anything but. He’d failed in more sports than he’d ever succeeded in, had all but made a fool of himself before crowds of people on any occasion where he’d been afforded the opportunity, and not once had considered himself good enough. Yet, Aurora seemed not to understand any of that. She spoke of him as if he was some kind of prodigy, and not the fool that he was. Were her own thoughts the mirrored image of his own? He’d not thought himself good enough, and she thought she wasn’t. Ironic that it had taken such a blatant display for that truth to finally become clear.
Yet, he let her talk, let her express her worries and doubts. Her concerns about not being pretty enough were entirely misfounded, of course, Nicholas had yet to see a girl who was cuter. Perhaps that was in part due to his own opinion being blinded by emotion, but that was entirely beside the point. She was cute. It was a simple fact.
“You’re more than enough,” He answered, the earlier flustered stammer dying somewhat, his desire to restore the girl’s confidence imbuing him with a confidence all his own.
“You’re pretty, you’re smart, you’re the God damned best,” He continued, cheeks reddening further, “You’re the only person at this school who I know is who they say they are. When I see you, I-” His voice caught slightly, nerves returning, “I’m happy, like I’m where I’m supposed to be.”
He cast his eyes down for a moment, before returning them to her face, gaze unbreaking, “Aurora bloody Ranvier, you are crazy, and you drive me crazy, and I-” he gulped, “And I really like you and I want to go out with you, on like dates and stuff, you know if you’ll have me.” The words were more a tirade than a true confession, their speed increasing until they tumbled over each other in rapidfire succession.
Was he asking her out? So it would seem.

Midspring Celebration
The celebration seemed to have calmed down from the recent actions and food fight, both seemed to be moments of the past for many that night. As students greeted their dates and chatted the night away, the dance floor started to become the popular destination for the youngsters in attendance that night. Couples and groups alike shareing the dance floor with no thought of worry or chaos.
The exterior events seem to grow in popularity as well. Numerous young students would find themselves attracted toward the festival outside that contains flickering flames of a large effigy and the crafting table that would be a highlight it seem that night as more and more went over to create masks and flower crowns.
The first year drama seem to fade away as @Faye Simmons and @Regina Miller opted for a night under the painted sky in the Festival away from the others. A moment alone for the two to share. Their third wheel; @Juniper Kelly separated from the duo to perhaps focus on her own drama that night with her date; @Draven Mirador wearing a bird style mask that he created at the crafts table that night and their own third wheel. In the from of the one who has a crush on Juniper, @Ari Gwild who signed up for Torch Tag after the redhead... perhaps wishing for a moment alone with her.
On the other side of the room, the dating drama continues. The couple that got married last ball, @Haley Rose and @Simon Kincaid seemed to have gotten a divorce as they avoid each other but for now long will that be.... @AngelFyre McCubbin would take Simon, her date to the Festival while Haley stayed within the realm of the celebration with Louca Dufort (@Emma Wynn) but would the two once love birds maintain their distance that night or find their ways together once more? It's a good thing that there isn't any love potion in these drinks this time.
Another love story was unfolding not to far away.... from the pages of a fairytale it appeared to be. Two prince charmings that were lacking the prince parts cuaght up in the midst of a lovely princess heart.
@Winnie Harper injured and bleeding from the knockback jinx, she was pushed away from @Mathias Pride but still came running back. Perhaps for another knockback jinx but love make us do crazy things sometimes.
Love causes everyone to act differently, the once friends now aimed their wands for each other because of a girl. Perhaps @Levi Drakos still cared for his once slytherin friend but his love for Winnie seem to run deeper as he muttered a incantation toward the formal ally.

The sparks hit and Mathias started a solo version of the tango around the two second years. Perhaps not a dancer and wanting to strike revenge, Mathias aimed his wand to cast another flipendo. This time at Levi Drakos who would find he has a guardian angle in Winnie who rushed forward but at what costs?Perhaps distracted by the flamboyant dancing or his heart set on another, no matter the reason. The lad would find his wand pointed for Winnie who provided to be quicker than the former slytherin, jumping into action as she pushed his wand arm toward the ground where a flipendo harmlessly rebounded then faded away.Flipendo

Spells and sparks certainly are flying as their love story turned in a page but is it nearing to a end or are there still chapters to be told....
As love blossoms and burns throughout the ball that night, @Bloom Silverton would find their eyes drawn to Kamila Yavlinksky (@Marina Oriel) who found the girl and her group increasingly interesting.... maybe they are looking for dance partners or alliances from other schools? The question remains would Bloom take notice of the unusual attention from the foreign student?Alas, Bloom would not noticed the intense staring of the student, perhaps they don't pose a threat that night or maybe they do.... hard to say with hogwarts ballsPerception Check

Noah's wand would not fail him this time, the spell successfully making contact with Ari's formal attire creating a rainbow of colors on his wear. Would that ravenclaw lad mind or would it help him impress his crush that night?
The mysterious Koldovstoretz students were proving ones not to be messed with anymore as the hexwizard tournament inches closer, Edward Smith (@Noah Jupe) saw past his lovely date with @Clair Fernandez to aim his wand for the person who captures the eye of everyone at events such as these.... the slytherin beater known for crushing the dreams and bones of her opponents, with flawless hair the one and only; @Erin Ryan but wait Edward chose to cast the slug vomiting charm at the slytherin.... maybe someone should tell him that she isn't a hag anymore

Wisdom DC: 11
Wisdom Check: [d20:1]+6=7, Crit Fail
Duration: [d6:3] - 1 round

Maybe Edward should have stuck with conjuring flowers for his date.... the lad would find himself on the wrong end of a backfired slug vomiting charm with the slimy and gross sensation of slugs inching toward his mouth but lucky or perhaps unlucky for him there would be fellow Koldovstoretz students there watching the mishap. Tarja Blavatsky (@Liana Kerr) found her eyes drawn to the foolishness and probably hoping no one else was looking either at her peers' spell mishap.
@Oliver Hart would be at the ready to cast the shield charm for Erin's protection luckily the girl wouldn't need a hero this time.
Twins hold a connection greater than all, a special type of magic that runs through their veins. @Piérre Marchonné arrived at the ball with his mind thinking of one person and one only. His twin. Figaro would be sent on a quest to search for Romeo Marchonné which he would find the durmstrang twin nearing the potluck tables. Twins always find a way it seems.
Not everyone thrives around people. Some thrives around animals, @Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood would be one of those few. More focused on the critters that night as they moved from the Celebration to the Festival with their animal ally looking for other animals or creatures to join their party
Sixth Sense: [d100:11] - Success
For the ravenclaw wouldn't be deceived that night, sharp sense catching sight of the other animals brought by their onwers that night. Scheherazade and Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood would be able to spot a feline belonging to @Piérre Marchonné who is on the hunt for someone, a tawny owl perched low on the shoulder of second year; @Noah Jupe, a grey tabby wrestling with another feline belonging to the one; @Logan Baird herself, the grey tabby wrestling with a orange feline known for trouble belonging to one of the ball's hosts of the evening; Henry Knight. These four would be the first spotted by the ravenclaw but she would cacth sight of the other critters there as well.
The chaos of the evening would be largely found between a tussle of Durmstrang, Hogwarts, and even Ilvermorny students that night.
The durmstrang poster pretty boy; Arjan Oberoi (@Serena Towers) now fashionably with a new hairstyle from Felix Kolbeck, parts of his hair sticking up awkwardly forming spikes and other parts in a tangled mess with crumbs of food. Everyone has bad hair days even ones as pretty as Arjan but what is his next move? Forgiveness? Revenge? Mourning his once luscious locks?
@Cain Corvus didn't want to find out. The first year prefect using his small structure to his advantage and dropping to the floor for the safety underneath a table. Hiding there from someone bigger and stronger than him it was easy to feel frighten but luckily he found one of the hidden lion stuffed lion decorated in a durmstrang school scarf. A friend or maybe a potential projectile in this first year's grasp as he crawled under the table and away from the durmstrang beater.
Felix Kolbeck (@Winnie Harper) would find the safety of the ground to, hiding out from his older durmstrang peer perhaps to plot his next move of attack. Arjan's hair might be a mangled, sticky mess now but his clothes are still clean.... while on the ground, Felix would be met with Henrietta Montagne (@Levi Drakos) both his date and girlfriend. Will he explain the situation to her or see if Arjan can get her to date him instead? The night is growing fast but still a lot could happen at the ball tonight.
Potluck
@Aida Mòrsgor-Ama Ellwood set a batch of wild berries at the potluck table, a simple food but perhaps one that would attract a small creature or berry loving human.

As it would happen, beyond the festive activities, chaos ensued in little pockets of interschool theatrics occurring ‘surreptitiously’ somewhere in the Great Hall. Of course, what magical school event would be complete without at least one incident?
Bedlam aside, Sage would attempt to steer her lovely friend towards the more pacific side of the Hall, thus leaving them both blind and largely unaware of the unpleasant going-ons.
The taller girl grinned at the compliment; Sophia trying her best at being social made her feel warm and fluttery inside. Ah, she didn’t know cute things were so healing!
Half the things Sophia had mentioned though, Sage didn't have the slightest. Thriller? Cha Cha Slide? It would be best to ask Sophia about these things later on - or better yet, demonstrate. Nevertheless, even if the unfamiliar terms had eluded her, Sage still got the gist of it.
Apart from the obvious, there wasn't much difference between Wizarding and Muggle parties. It just so happened that the Midsummer Celebration included a ball in it, and as far as balls were concerned, a certain level of extravagance and scale was expected.
“Well, not quite,” said Sage sheepishly, lightly tweaking her choppy fringe. She doubted having studious grown-ups for parents made a family that much important. They were very proud of their nerdiness, though - did that count? “Right, he works for the Ministry, but he’s one of them small fishies, really.”
Her voice lowered into a whisper. “Not at all. This would be the first, actually.”
Suppose if she had, she probably wouldn’t be dressed like a country bumpkin. Sage could count the number of parties she’d attended in one hand, most of which had been cozy, sweater-matching family gatherings.
Understandably overwhelmed, Sophia had lobbied the question back. Sage would take this cue to take charge of their little tour.
“Let’s grab a snack, and peek at the Goblet, then go outside.” Sage nodded decisively. “I want to know what they’re burning.”
With that, Sage attempted to tow them off towards the tables of catered food. Each school had prepared dishes native to them. Sage would choose to eat something relatively safe and familiar. It would be rude to spit out something her palate ended up disagreeing with. She wasn’t a fussy eater, no; more of a junk-food kind of girl, is all.
Some internal debate later, Sage went for a bite-sized niblet of cheese, bacon and toast. Snack in hand, she waited to the side for Sophia, within view of the fabled Goblet. It glowed a ghostly blue, as if swirling within it were the souls it had claimed in previous wizarding tournaments.
An uncannily beautiful death-cup, Sage thought with a shudder. Swallowing the last of her crostini, the sweater-clad girl turned to Sophia.
“Do you think we get to keep the cup if we win?”

Here!As she and James danced, bailey’s mind was working overtime trying to decipher her emotions and such. He is holding my waist HE IS HOLDING MY WAIST!!! her mind screamed. As her mind was kinda occupied with that, Bailey’s face had a huge, grin. She was having so much fun and slowing herself too.
As the night got older, James became more and more tired. He was clearly trying not to abandon her, but she said “Go to sleep. I’m going to say hello to a few people and then go to bed too. Thank you so much for tonight. It was truly wonderful, and I hope we can spend more time together soon. I really like spending time with you. I really like you too.”
After saying the last but, Bailey blushed and looked down. Looking back up to see James bow and kiss her hand, he said his good nights to her and left.
Watching him leave, Bailey felt like she was Prince Charming watching her Cinderella walk away. Assuring herself that he would be there tomorrow, Bailey looked around.
There were a few people around her, including someone who looked like older students whom she vaguely recognized, and some others. She recognized Hailey Rose and Luca. Hailey was a fellow 2nd year but in Griffindor, and she and Luca had met when he had fallen into the lake.
She was about to walk over to them when she saw someone approaching her. He was vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t tell from where.Word count: 263ish

Sophia was startled at the sound of - she assumed - spells being cast elsewhere in the Great Hall, but she was not keen to investigate it. Tonight was supposed to be fun, and she had no intention of getting involved in anything that could possibly cause trouble, so she allowed herself to be dragged by Sage as far from the ruckus as possible. Admittedly, it helped when she saw the destination involved food.
"Lead the way," Sophia said as she allowed Sage to lead her to the tables full of delicious - and exotic! - looking meals. Her eyes drank in the sight of the various odds and ends that she so-very-much wanted to shovel into her mouth inelegantly, but she knew that there was a time and place for everything, and while wearing a clean dress and trying not to make a fool of herself in front of her friend was not the time for filling her belly like a wild animal.
She followed Sage's example and grabbed a small bit of, well, something. She didn't quite know what it was. But, whatever it was, it tasted like berries and it was very, very good.
Making her way to the Goblet - and Sage - she had the sense to cover her mouth as she attempted conversation.
"I dunno, but what's the big deal about the Goblet, anyway?" she asked between bites of the fruity snack, "I remember Headmaster Lear saying something about it and some kind of tournament?"
She didn't actually remember Headmaster Lear saying anything about the tournament. She just remembered other students discussing the tournament after the fact, and she had assumed the Goblet was involved since the tournament was announced on the same day. But, she would feel pretty lame to admit that she knew literally nothing about current events in the school at any given time due to her tendency to fall asleep in the Great Hall and miss announcements, so she usually hinted at what she knew, or had heard, and let others fill in the gaps. It worked well enough so far. After all, she'd learned about the Ball's existence.
And Sage didn't seem the type to sleep through an important announcement, so she probably knew more than Sophia.
