Honestly, I get the feeling of not knowing how to being a letter. It happens to me often too.
Anyway, how are you? How is school going?
Oh sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Bailey Glade (though you probably knew that) and I am a second year Ravenclaw.
Today is February 23rd 2022 (sorry it took me so long to reply), and I am sitting on my bed in my dorm in Ravenclaw tower.
Anyway, I guess I’ll let you know what I like??
I’m… well I like the outdoors, Taekwondo, baking, reading (I know how very Ravenclaw of me).. how about you? Do you have any siblings? I have three younger home others. Anyway, I need to finish my charm’s homework. It was only assigned today, but I like getting it done with.

Greetings.

It was nice to hear back from you so fast! The owlery here must be pretty good since I got your letter already. Things are fine with me. It's been awhile since I first arrived, so my surroundings are getting to be more familiar now. Yes, despite the ever-changing staircases. You know, it's almost spring, you can see the seasons starting to change outside. Do you get outside much for fresh air or some exercise?

You said you like the outdoors. There's actually a club called the Outdoors Club that I'm a member of. You should check it out sometime if you haven't already. Are you a member of any clubs at Hogwarts? I only found out about the clubs a month after I got here, I felt as if I was missing out. There were so many fun and interesting ones to take part in! Now, I'm in a bunch of them, which is really fun.

I find that talking through letters is actually more calming for me.

I can talk and not have to worry about things.

Like people getting too close to me, or accidentally touching me. I don't freeze or freak out, which is nice. Did you hear the announcement the Headmaster did yesterday about the Hexwizard Tournament? Are you thinking of putting your name into the Goblet? I'm not sure as of now. Part of me wants to and another part of me doesn't want to. My curiosity is piqued and I want to know a bit more.

Your interests are very similar to mine! It's funny how we have so much in common. Martial arts is something I've done all my life and I've learned how to cook and bake from an early age. As for reading, books are downright addicting and are a great source to gleam information from. I want to ask you so many questions but then this letter would unfortunately go on for around 300 pages.

That will be for next time.

I've already finished my homework but I tend to look ahead in chapters when I have free time just to see what fun things are ahead of me.

I think it would have been fun to see what I would have been like in Ravenclaw. I do have that thirst for knowledge the Hat talked about. I also love books more than anything else, a trait you'd think would have gotten me in there. But I think it was better than I ended up in Gryffindor because at least that was my mother's House. However, I did want to get into Slytherin, which was my father's House.

But I guess I didn't seem to make the cut.

Ah, someone is calling my name and wanting me to come somewhere, I have to go!

How are you? I’m glad your classes are going well.
It is really funny how similar we are. I’m really glad though. What rank did you get up to in Martial Arts?
You mentioned that you were a member of the Outdoors Club? That’s really cool. I’m going to go check it out. When is the next meeting?
I did hear about the tournament… I don’t think I am going to enter myself. How about you? I’m not going to because I am extremely clumsy and I’ve made enough trips to the hospital wing.
Sorry you didn’t get into Slytherin. It would have been fun to have you in Ravenclaw too.

Greetings.

I'm glad too that my classes are going well. Less stress is always good for the body and health. How about you? You mentioned you were a second year, how different is it from your first year? Did anything noticeably change for you by moving up a year? As for martial arts, I wasn't bad at it but I had to stop where I was learning it when I started to attend Hogwarts. It's not as if I can constantly go back and forth.

And my sensei wouldn't want to come to Hogwarts strictly to teach me. Not to mention it would be rather odd even if he did want to do so. I only got my black belt a few weeks before I had to stop, which was sad because I had a lot of fun there. I'm not too into teaching on a regular basis but I don't mind helping others when I can. What about you? What kind of experience do you have with the arts?

Ah yes. The Outdoors Club.

They tend to meet once a month but the location always tends to change.

At the start of each meeting they send an owl with instructions. Therefore, I don't know when the next meeting is but when I get the letter, I can let you know. Maybe you can come with me and I can introduce you to the others. But before then, you'll have to let me know what you look like so I can recognize you. Regarding the Goblet, as I said before in my last letter, I am not entirely sure now.

I have faith in my abilities.

But it won't be easy for me if I'm chosen as a champion.

I have some kind of social anxiety when I'm around large crowds of people I don't know. So it would make finding team members a pain as I'd have to put myself out there amongst everyone. I'd much rather be chosen by the champion to take part on the team. That would be more to my style. But if I am selected, I will definitely put forth all my ability to make sure the Goblet of Fire doesn't regret picking me.

Speaking of homework, I have to finish up some Herbology work. It's actually quite interesting, finding out about important and useful plants.

Dear Kim,
My classes are going well and I feel great. I’ve had a few incidents that ended in the hospital wing, but no lasting results. The nurses there truly work wonders.
I would say not a lot changed when I moved up a year. They expect a slightly higher level of concentration for Homework and such, but not a huge difference.
That’s really cool that you did martial arts. You should come to a meeting of the Martial Artists Club one day! I’m part of it, and it is a lot of fun. We could also use your experience! Plus, it would be cool to meet you in person.
When you do get an owl for the Outdoors club, please let me know. It sounds wonderful and if you would be my guide of sorts, that would be great!
And I do have faith in you. You would do amazing if your name got pulled from the Goblet.
I hope your herbology homework went well.

But I don't really want to be a teacher.

I'm kind of a bit let's say 'shy' when it comes to groups of strangers. I'd just like to relax and do some martial arts, if that's alright with you.

Maybe later on, once I've become comfortable with the members I might give it a shot, if you really needed people. When is your club meeting next, I'll check it out if I'm free. I’ve done a few things to land me in the hospital wing. I fell into the Great lake and had to be saved by James Owens, I’ve tripped and fallen, twisted my ankle, sprained my wrist, you get the point. I’m kinda clumsy.
And don’t feel pressured to join the Martial Artists club. The people there are really nice but I get not wanting to join new groups.
Honestly, i just think it would be really cool to meet you. So many people get to meet their owl pals?
I can’t wait to get another owl from you. It really brightens my day to get them.
Are you a member of any other clubs? Or groups? Do you do broom racing? What is your favorite class?

Oh, damn! You fell into the Great Lake? How does that even happen?!

Were you trying to do something there and lost your footing? Did you want to go in there on purpose and something unexpected happened to pull you further into the lake? Did the giant squid in there go after you? When you were in there, did you see any other magical creatures? Can you swim? Did you go under the water?

If so, how deep?

Ah, sorry about all the questions. It's just I'm quite curious about what lies beneath the Great Lake's waters. There's so much there!

I've never ventured into it myself, mostly because I haven't gotten a chance to and I'm also not sure what I'd do if I encountered a beast or merfolk. As long as I have some gillyweed, I'm sure I'd be fine but on the other hand, I don't want to upset any beasts or merfolk in the lake either. You probably didn't get too deep though.

As for being clumsy, that's cute. I'm not usually clumsy at all. So if we ever meet and get to hang out together, just stick by me and I'll keep you from running into things. Or for that matter getting hurt! I think we'd probably get along pretty well together if we get to meet at some point in time. You seem like a really nice person.

As for other clubs, I joined quite a few of them and am currently waiting for them to send owls to me with the locations, dates and times for their club meetings.

What about you? I tend to stay away from brooms in general, I don't like heights. But I do plan on joining the dueling club at some point in time. Right now I have my hands full with classes, homework, all my clubs and planning for school events. Once things calm down, I'll probably look more into that dueling club.

As for my favorite class, I like pretty much all of them.

But if I had to choose...

History of Magic is the most boring for me, mostly because my parents educated me on this subject. But I do like the charms and hex the professor teaches us.

The sneezing one is not my cup of tea though. I have issues with that one. Not about learning how to use it but about it being used on me. My partner was unfortunate because I didn't let them practice on me. Every time they tried to, I would use it on them. Until eventually, they decided to practice on someone else.

I did learn the spell though, which was nice.

I just wish I didn't have to do flying class. It's the bane of my existence.

I must go finish up some homework too. I already did most of them but I still have a few subjects left. I may look ahead in chapters if I get done early.

Dear Kim,
To fall into the lake you have to be rather stupid…. I was walking on the ice because I thought it was thick enough and t clearly wasn’t. I was about 20 feet out and I heard it crack…. I tried to get back to the bank but I made it only about 5 feet before I fell in.
I didn’t feel or see the squid; it might have been hibernating- do they do that? I didn’t see any other creatures thankfully. James swept in and saved me pretty quickly. It was super nice of him to do so too because we hadn’t met before then so he saved a stranger from freezing.
Yes I can swim- I used to swim competitively when I was younger. In the summer at least. In the winter- nope. It was an outdoor pool….
And as being a nice person, well I try. And you seem awesome and I would love to meet you.
I don’t do any broom sports due to being clumsy, and I think it’s really cool that you want to do dueling. I understand having your hands full of clubs and school work. I am a member of like 5 clubs and am I charge of 2, so it can be a lot sometimes. It’s totally worth it though.
I understand History of Magic being boring, but I kinda enjoy the classes. I learned a lot, and continue to, despite the fact that some of my class mates will fall asleep at their desks. All of them who do are not Ravenclaw though. Maybe that’s part of it?
Sorry that you don’t like your flying class (honestly neither do I… I will study the theory and such but no broom please.)
Anyways, I need to go write invitations for my clubs meeting. They both are happening soon so I have to let the member know!
