Tea With the Petrovs
Tea with the Petrovs

"The argument from intimidation is a confession of intellectual impotence." - Ayn Rand
August, 2017
Today was a day the Bishops had been anticipating for quite some time. The father of the family, Aaron Bishop, had recently secured a meeting with the infamous potioneer Nikolai Petrov. His sister, Ciara Bishop, was in deep need of a medicine that the Healers at Azkaban did not provide. So, Aaron hunted far and wide for a potion master that would provide what he needed - and ended up with Nikolai Petrov. Finding what seemed to be the answer to his problems, Aaron was ecstatic (although he would never show the extent of his happiness) and set up at appointment with Nikolai as soon as possible. Which just so happened to be today.
Although originally he planned to go alone, his wife convinced him to bring herself and their ten year old daughter along. The place where they were going would serve as a nice way to get some mother- daughter time, something that the mother (Morgan Bishop) craved, although her daughter Rhea did not. Still, Aaron agreed and soon the family of three was off to meet the Petrovs under the guise of having tea. Once there, Aaron would begin with a light-hearted conversation which he would soon lead into one where he could ask for a potion.
They would meet at a high quality tea parlor, one where only the best of the best drank at. The Bishops arrived there earlier and were seated at a grand table, decorated with top notch tea pots and cups. Aaron could be seen rubbing his hands together and trying to hide his nervousness; Morgan could be seen calming him down; and Rhea was simply playing with the tea sets and staging a pretend tea party.
Every time the crystal bell dinged, Aaron would look up with anticipation. No matter how much he hated to show it, he loved tolerated his family - especially his baby sister who was suffering in Azkaban. Otherwise, why would he have hunted for only the best potioneer in perhaps the world? Soon, a raven-haired family entered the parlor and Aaron stood up at the speed of light, his chair scraping unpleasantly against the marble floors. Composing himself and rearranging his features into that of a nonchalant expression, Aaron stuck out his hand for the other man to shake and nodded in a business like matter.
“Aaron Bishop,” the blonde man introduced himself, and sat back down. He would not pay attention to any of his surroundings--his wife, his daughter, the cups of tea--instead just focusing on driving a bargain in which his sister would be saved.
Meanwhile, Rhea and her mother had engaged in a tea party rendezvous. There were princes and princesses, dukes and duchesses, lords and ladies - but Rhea was the queen, and her mother was her handmaiden (to her dismay). But, any chance to bond with her daughter was a chance Morgan would take, and so she endured all the orders the younger blonde gave her. It was adorable, and Morgan’s smile never slipped off her face.
Pouring some more tea into a teacup, Rhea looked up as more people joined them at the table. She didn’t know who they were, nor did she care - she was only here because she had to, otherwise she would be at home writing letters to her brother, or studying Arabic with her nanny Aida. But, she had no choice, and so Rhea decided that if she had to attend this meeting, she would make the best of this. And it seemed that that wouldn’t be too hard when a girl who seemed to be her age came in to the parlor and seemed to be walking towards her.
Rhea turned to look at her mother, and asked if she could go host a tea party with the other girl.
“Go ahead,” Morgan said with a small wave of her hand. Rhea put down the teacup and walked over to the Russian girl. There was no reason for the two not to socialize; although Rhea didn’t particularly appreciate going to these sort of parties, she’d decided to make the best of them.
“My name’s Rhea,” the young Bishop said in a neutral tone, remembering that her father had taught her never to seem to excited - otherwise, people would take advantage of her and make her do whatever they wanted.
the trouble is, if you don't risk anything -- you risk more.

Tea With the Petrovs
"𝓒ome, Katerina, we're going to see the Bishops." When Katya had heard this, she wasn't sure what to think. Who were the Bishops? Why were they meeting with them? And why did Katya have to go? Perhaps it was some kind of play on 'family unity', or maybe they wanted to show off that each and every one of them happened to look just alike. In a t-shirt dress that was blue and tight on her legs, going down to just above her knees like most of her dresses, she sat loyally in the back of her parents' car with her mother, Natalina, and her brother, Mikael. Her father, Nikolai, sat in the front with their driver Erik, whom they had taken with them on their jet to England.
𝓢he had never been to England before, mainly visiting cities such as Milan or Paris, London was a difference. The buildings were stone and tall, looking as though they have been standing for centuries. Cars beeped their horns through the busier streets, side roads appearing to be abandoned. The sky was never void of clouds, one or two passing over the sun every few hours even in the summer. The roads were smooth though, which made the ride to the tea shop even more comfortable for the family of four. Alexandre should be with them too, but he had taken up an offer to spend his summer with his friend's family in Egypt.
𝓚aterina couldn't count the times she had wished to go with him on one hand. She would rather go on adventures through tombs and pyramids with her brother than sit through a boring afternoon tea with her parents and brother. She squirmed a little, her hip bumping her mother slightly. Natalina quietly scolded Katya, telling her to be still in rushed Russian. The young girl obeyed, a pout on her face as the seatbelt sat uncomfortably across her chest.
𝓘t took no longer than twenty minutes to arrive at their destination. The entire time, Katya trained her amber eyes on the GPS showing the way. She constantly readjusted her dress, finding sitting in it was causing her quite the bother. Maybe she was just eager to get on with it and head back to the hotel. They would be staying in England in the closest 5-star hotel to the airport for two weeks. She wasn't looking forward to being away from Russia for so long, especially when she was still struggling with her English in parts.
𝓞ne by one, the Petrovs exited the vehicle after Erik opened the back door of the BMW. Katya's mother was first, with her sunglasses covering her eyes and white gloves. Then, the raven-haired girl followed, clutching onto her mother's hand for dear life as she exited. The two of them began to the door of the tea shop, where her father was already standing holding the door open. Mikael followed behind the two ladies, taking the door from his father to let him walk in first, being used to the one to enter last.
𝓝ikolai straightened out his suit, Natalina fixing the handkerchief that was neatly folded in his chest pocket. Every last feature of the family shouted 'REFINED!', down to the shine on Katya's black dolly heels. They only increased her height by an inch or two, but they were enough to make her want to sit down. No matter how used to it she was, she liked to complain about anything she could. Soon enough, Natalina caught sight of the Bishop family, and took Nikolai's hand, walking them over. Katya and Mikael walked side-by-side, the older sibling running his fingers through his short black hair.
𝓣he three elder members of the Petrov family took a seat around the table after Nikolai had shook Aaron Bishop's hand. Before Katya could follow suit though, she was approached by a brightly red haired girl, causing her to put a smile on her face. Her parents had already taught her the charismatic approach when it came to meeting other families and people, and having done this thousands of times, she was used to it. Even though all that she wanted was to sit in the seat only a little past the other girl.
"𝓗i, Rhea," Katya greeted, taking the opportunity to reach out her hand in order to offer a handshake. Her Russian accent was harsh on her words, and she had accidentally rolled her 'R' in the other girl's name. She cleared her throat before continuing, trying her best to soften it at least a little bit. "My name is Katerina Anya Petrov, but you may call me by Katya." She introduced herself in exchange, sparing a glance to her brother, who was involved in the conversation already. Then to her mother, who seemed to be smiling at Katerina fondly.
𝓢he looked back at the other girl. Hopefully, they would be able to get along.
𝓜eanwhile, at the table..
𝓝ikolai shook the other man's hand firmly, a warm smile on his face. He had definitely met more than enough people to figure out the ways of business, and he knew that this family wouldn't have wanted to meet him unless there was a good reason for it. And Nikolai never set out to meet people usually, he insisted on them coming to meet him at the Petrov Chateau in Nizhny Novgorod.
𝓗e took his seat directly across from Aaron, his wife Natalina sitting on one side of him, and his son Mikael on the other. They all had quite the resemblance, save for Nikolai's graying hair. At the age of thirty, he had somehow found enough to stress about. That, or potion-making was taking a toll on him somehow. They had raven black hair, sharply pointed noses, high cheekbones and full lips. Though the one thing that differed was that Nikolai and Mikael had blue ocean eyes, while Natalina had a chocolate brown. It was a wonder how their youngest daughter, Katya, inherited a shade of amber eyes.
𝓒learing his throat, Nikolai leaned his forearms onto the edge of the table, looking closer at the family. "What have we come here for today?" He questioned, wanting to get straight to the point. Natalina placed a hand on his upper arm softly, pulling him back into a proper seating position, causing him to mutter a small apology in her direction. Instead, she took the initiative in the conversation. Being the lead designer for her own fashion line caused her to find a voice of authority in these conversations, even without trying.
"𝓦hat my husband is meaning to say, is we hope that this is on a happy matter. Making new friends, no?" Natalina asked, a smile on her perfectly painted lips. The red was a sharp contrast to the rest of her features, providing a type of allure to onlookers. Perhaps to a few of the paparazzi outside of the window that had taken a few snaps. Muggle paparazzi made the woman roll her eyes - they were so pointless, with their still pictures. At least wizard reporters had the flair of magical photos. "We hope life is treating the Bishop family well. Now, shall we get some tea?" She offered, raising a hand to signal for a waitress or waiter.

Tea With the Petrovs
The girl, Katya was her name, didn't seem as uptight as other pureblood children did. Sure, she had a long and fancy name, and sure, she had a heavy accent - but Rhea didn't mind. In fact, she found the girl's accent fun. Never in her life had she met anyone with a Russian accent. She'd met plenty of people with accents, seeing as she traveled to various places with her family, but never Russia. Most of the places they visited were warm, seeing as the Bishops usually traveled to get away from the cold and dreary weather. Katya's accent was a nice change from the ordinary British accents she heard.
The girl extended her hand, probably for a handshake, and Rhea shook it with just the right amount of enthusiasm - not too much, not too little. Again, her father's lessons ran through her head as she thought about the right front to put up against the girl. The calm, cool, and collected front. Taking a seat next to Katya, Rhea pressed her lips together and rubbed her hands. What were they to talk about? Her eyes wandered around the tea parlor, taking in the sights. The giant chandelier hanging in the middle of the ceiling, the diamonds on it glittering with the sparkle of the sun; the chairs with the intricately made cloth wrapped around them; and their parents. The Russian's parents, in particular. Rhea noticed she had a brother, but he stuck to the adults rather than them. The Petrov family looked very well put together - Rhea could understand why. From what she had heard, Natalina Petrov, the mother, had a very esteemed fashion brand, and the father was a well-renowned potioneer. Rhea didn't understand how they were so high status (seeing as the only purebloods her family associated with were Ministry workers) but her mother had crushed her thoughts and simply told her to accept it. Rhea didn't care enough to fight it, and obeyed her mother.
Turning her attention back to the raven-haired girl, Rhea smiled. Her red hair was slowly falling out of its up do, and the tendrils curled around her face were causing mild discomfort. Trying to brush them back into her hair, Rhea smiled at the girl sitting opposite her. "It's nice to meet you, Katya," she said, biting her lip as she attempted to pin back the baby hairs. Thinking of what topic to bring up, Rhea tilted her head as she remembered that the school year would start in a few weeks. She'd be attending Hogwarts! Finally, she would get a chance to be with others like her, all the time. Of course, she'd be sorted into Slytherin, and her parents would be proud of her. Right? And not only would she be attending Hogwarts, she'd also see her brother for the first time in a long time. She hadn't seen him in a while - two months? Three months? It didn't matter. What mattered was that she missed him, and she was ever so happy she would get to see him, finally.
"Will you be attending Hogwarts? Or some other wizarding school in Russia?" Rhea questioned, wanting to know the answer. If the answer was yes, then the redhead could have a friend even before she arrived to Hogwarts. Hopefully, this girl was a Slytherin legacy as well, and so they'd be together in Slytherin.
Never in his life had Aaron been so nervous. He had to make sure to keep his expression bare and emotionless, whilst engaging in mindless conversation with the Petrovs in an attempt to get them to warm up to him and his family. It would be much easier to then ask for Nikolai to make such a risky potion. Nikolai's cold front did not bother Aaron in the slightest; he'd grown accustomed to such cold people. However, his wife seemed to be much more approachable, starting the conversation lightly and asking for tea.
"Of course, nothing other than friendly chatter," Aaron replied coolly, turning to his wife. She knew he was not one to not get straight to the point - a strength in some situation, a weakness in others. Morgan nodded and decided to take over as Aaron leaned back into his chair, making sure to maintain his posture nevertheless.
"Our life certainly has been pleasant - Rhea here shall be attending the new school semester starting September," Morgan shot a look at her ginger daughter, an expression of love just barely visible on her face. One would wonder how Rhea, the daughter of two blondes, had come to be a ginger. Deciding to answer the non-posed question (even if the Petrovs weren't wondering, Morgan simply wanted to stall), the older blonde woman tucked a strand of hair behind her hair and continued. "She wasn't born a ginger, in case you were wondering. She was playing around one day, and all of a sudden her beautiful blonde hair had turned into this copper shade. We tried to revert it back to blonde, but all failed," hoping the explanation was enough, Morgan switched topics. "How has London treated you so far? I hope you don't find the weather drab." The British weather was not one to fit everyone's fancies, but Morgan did not doubt that the weather in Russia was much worse. Although she'd only traveled there once, during her childhood, the weather there was one of the things that stuck with her. She'd gone during the winter, when the climate was even colder, and she'd practically frozen - silly her had forgotten to pack a scarf and gloves. So, she'd spent the majority of her vacation either inside her hotel or outside, freezing in the bitter Russian cold. Deciding to bring up her experience, Morgan smiled wistfully. "I remember when I visited Russia. I forgot to pack accordingly, and so I spent my entire time cold! And I thought Britain had bad weather," Morgan laughed and looked at her husband. He nodded back at her, and Morgan understood what he meant. Thank you. What he couldn't express in words, he expressed through his eyes. Morgan knew him long enough to understand what he wanted to say, always. Although their marriage certainly wasn't what it used to be, didn't have the spark it used to have - Morgan still understood her husband well enough.
When the waitress arrived, Morgan ordered for herself and her husband, once again showcasing the extent of how well they knew each other. "I'll have Oolong tea, and my husband will have a cup of green tea. Could you bring honey on the side, as well, please?"

Tea With the Petrovs

𝓣he aura that the young Bishop girl gave off was... cold. Katya wasn't sure how to describe it. Could it be considered being rude, or was it the normal way people happened to act? Growing up around nothing but kindness to all wizards, save those who were mudbloods, she wasn't sure how to react. They both sat at the table beside each other, and the young Petrov girl finally let her eyes wander up to Rhea's updo. Her hair was a brilliant red, one that looked as though it belonged, and it suited her well. "Is it natural?" She asked, curiously, "Your hair, I mean."
𝓦ith a look around the table, Katerina was more than capable of telling that the family consisted mainly of blondes. It was the opposite to the Petrovs, who all had black hair as dark as obsidian. It was interesting to see the two families sat at the same table; two families from very opposite worlds. She looked to Rhea's mother just as she began talking about her daughter's hair, how it wasn't naturally ginger. Well, that answered her question. Katya's lips parted, and she turned to look at the other girl once more, "What did you do to it?" She inquired, eager to know the story.
𝓘f she could change her hair colour magically, she would have turned it something pretty, such as the blonde colour that Rhea's parents possessed. Having dark hair her entire life, she was always vying to be lighter-haired. Perhaps one day, when she learned magic properly instead of watching her parents use it to clean the house or fix something, she would be able to do just that. But if there was a way to do it now, before they had even gone to school, Katya had to know.

𝓜eanwhile, at the table...
𝓝ikolai reached over towards his wife and took her dainty hand up into his own. She was the light of his life, the stars in his galaxy, and he was happy to show that to anyone who would look. He shot a jolly smile in her direction, past his mustache, then turned to the Bishops who had begun speaking. He wasn't one for conversation, so for majority of the time he had sat back in his seat with his hands linked together in front of him on the table.
𝓣he woman of the family's eyes trailed to the little redheaded child that was at the table next to her own daughter as she was mentioned, observing her appearance. She did look as though she had been ginger from birth, but it was known that magic could do just about anything. She didn't have much to say about Katya except for topics that were meant to be kept secret. Instead, they just smiled and nodded, trying to participate in the conversation as much as they could.
𝓘t was when they had asked a question that Natalina spoke up once again, not finding a suitable time beforehand. She grinned, shaking her head while sparing a glance out of the window, "No! Nothing that is too bad. Of course it is nothing like the snowfall of Russia." She let out a laugh, squeezing her husband's hand that she had taken back from him. They were one of the couples that still happened to act young, as though age didn't have much of an effect on them at all. Which it didn't - on their relationship, at least.
𝓢he chuckled at the small excerpt of her life that Mrs. Bishop had shared, along with Nikolai. Their son was too engrossed in his cellphone to be a part of the conversation, which Natalina was sure was not a good example for Yekaterina. Regardless, it would be more embarrassing to their family to call him out on the matter than to ignore it. Natalina drew her gaze away from her son and back to the other woman at the table, "Always pack a parka when you're thinking of going to Russia. You never know when the snow will hit." She told her sincerely, just as the waitress approached the table.
𝓝ikolai ordered himself a cranberry muffin from their pastry menu, and a coffee with extra cream in it, while Natalina ordered a green tea with four spoonfuls of sugar in it, and a blueberry muffin with apple juice for her daughter. She still didn't let Katerina drink any sort of caffeine, worried that it would stunt her growth even more than it already has. After she left, Nikolai looked to Mr. Bishop, lowering his voice. "Why did you call us from Russia for simple friendly conversation? There has to be more to it, no?" He interrogated, raising one of his bushy eyebrows.

Tea With the Petrovs
Red hair was not a common trait among Bishops - or rather, it was not a common trait in general. It would make sense for one to be confused as to why Rhea, whose origins stemmed from a family of blondes (on both maternal and paternal sides, mind you). And this wasn't the first time someone asked her what had happened with her hair. Unconsciously, a finger came up to twirl a lock of hair that had come undone from her complex updo. If she was to be honest, she couldn't really remember what had happened in order for her to end up with red hair. All she knew was that one second she was standing near a bookshelf with blonde hair, and the next she was laying on the ground with red hair.
Looking over at Katya, she thought that the Russian wanted some sort of complex, interesting story, something that would astound her. Biting her lip, Rhea realized that her own story was nothing too interesting, so she decided to tell a version of the truth. It would have some aspects of the truth, but she would add a few pieces here and there to make it fun and interesting.
Leaning in to Katya, Rhea's eyes twinkled with a spark. Never had she gotten a chance to tell a story, and quite frankly, she didn't know if what she would say would make any sense. Nevertheless, it wasn't in her nature to ever be shy, so she rushed straight ahead with her story.
"It was late at night, you see, and I couldn't sleep. So I headed down to our library, you know how we have a built in library," Rhea couldn't help but stick in a little brag in there, her father would be proud, "And I was looking for some sort of book that would, you know, make me un-bored. I found something that looked interesting and the second I opened it, BAM! Something popped out and I tried to fight it but it was too strong for me, so it knocked me to the ground. Next thing I know I was waking up and the book was back in the shelf like nothing had ever happened, so I decided to go to sleep. The next morning, my nanny woke up and almost screamed. Why? Because I had red hair!" Rhea took a deep breath at the end of her monologue and grinned sheepishly, realizing how unbelievable her story sounded. However, she didn't care. It was her story and she could do whatever she wanted with it!
Her parents never minded lying. In fact, they lied all the time when they were at parties. Sometimes, they even lied about Rhea. Even though she hadn't yet attended Hogwarts, they told their friends that she had and that she was among the top of their class and, of course, in Slytherin. Rhea had no choice but to go along with them, and she'd even sometimes step on her tip toes to make herself seem taller. She loved her parents (even though they rarely showed their love) and no matter what, she would do anything to make them happy and proud of her. Besides, she doubted they would mind her simply exaggerating the story a little bit. If she did what they did, there was no harm done. At least, that was the way Rhea thought.

~~At the table~~
As soon as the Petrovs ordered whatever it was they wanted to eat and drink, the waitress left, and the table plunged into a short silence with only the sounds of Rhea and Katya talking nearby. Of course, these two families were of a quite high status, therefore, the silence was not present for long when the Petrovs responded to Morgan's short story about her travels. Nodding her head, the Bishop decided to heed Natalina's advice and stored her wise words inside some hidden section in her mind. She had no doubt she'd be travelling to Russia once more, as Aaron had started to travel quite a lot and Russia had some spectacular views. She'd make sure to go to the cold country once more, if she could.
Soon, however, the Bishops could stall no longer. It was clear that the Petrovs were a no funny business kind of family, and quite frankly, so were the Bishops in a normal scenario. But this was no normal scenario. Aaron Bishop was not used to ever having to ask for help; usually, it was quite the opposite, with people coming to him for help. Therefore, he was unsure of what to do. Unsure of how to start the conversation properly, so Nikolai would be more open to help him.
But he'd run out of time on how to figure it out. It was now or never that he had to pose the question. He had to ask for... help, if only for his sister. His baby sister that could be the only person he could say, with confidence, he loved. Out loud, at least. Inside, although he'd never admit, he loved his family, although he had interesting ways to show it.
"My sister, Ciara Bishop, is currently being held in... somewhere, not important where," Aaron did not want to indulge exactly where his sister was, in fear that it would lower Nikolai's will to help him. "She is sick, however where she currently is, they do not offer the potion needed to cure her. I have looked far and wide for something that would help her, however I did not succeed in finding anything. This is why I have come to you. Would you be willing to aid me?" Aaron inwardly cringed as soon as the last phrase left his mouth. He had made a promise to himself that he would never ask for help. It was a sign of weakness, vulnerability. In his eyes, if he asked for help it meant that he was open for his enemies to come in and destroy him and everything he'd built.

But it's highly unlikely that I'll manage another reply before I leave so honestly, take your time).

Tea With the Petrovs

STORIES were a favourite of Yekaterina's. Tucked up into her bed, her mother used to read brilliant stories to fuel her imagination. Ones of princesses that seized the day, and of ambitious evil queens that won the fight. They were the kinds of people Katya wanted to be, herself. A type of person she strove to be. And maybe one day she would be able to be just that - a princess that conquered the world, or an evil queen that can take down anyone in her path to find the way to success. This was what Katya thought her mother was.
Something about the story that Rhea told reeled Katya in, causing her to lean slightly forward in her seat. She hoped with all of her might that her mother didn't catch it - she would surely be reprimanded for not sitting straight up. When that thought entered the girl's mind, she leaned back in her seat, a small breath escaping from in between her pink-red lips, "Wow," She mused, clearly believing every word that the red-headed girl said. How else would someone have gotten red hair magically without a spell? A monster just made sense.
"That really happened? That's so interesting!" Katya called out, receiving a sharp glance from her mother. That alone was enough for Katya to blush profusely, burrowing into herself slightly as she tilted her head down, diverting her gaze from her lap. After taking a moment to compose herself, she cleared her throat slightly, looking back up to the blue eyes that the Bishop girl acquired. "I meant to say that it is good you didn't get hurt. At least it was just your hair, and not your whole body. Imagine if your skin was red. Quite unattractive, no?"
Surely, that had to be a good enough recovery from her sudden outburst of excitement. Her mother would have been proud of her. That was, if she was listening. But obviously, the adult conversation taking place around the two younger girls of the bunch was too interesting to leave.

TO say that Nikolai was expecting to be asked for this was definitely an understatement. Whenever anyone came to the Russian man of free will, it was usually in order to barter for a potion. Otherwise, they tended to steer clear. Nikolai was an intimidating man, or at least he appeared to be. No one was aware of what he was like behind closed doors - loving, nurturing, and he deeply cared for his daughter; more than anything in the world.
No amount of friendship or love would ever open Nikolai up to loving someone the way he loved his wife and daughter. And perhaps that was why he couldn't quite understand why someone would want to go through the effort of calling up Nikolai to save their sister. Why not send them to St. Mungo's, or a normal hospital? If she was sick, surely there were mediwizards that were capable of handling it.
But maybe it was a type of love that Aaron held for Ciara that Nikolai couldn't understand himself.
"What is her condition?" Nikolai questioned in a gruff tone. He straightened out his tie, loosening it a little bit in the process. A habit he developed when it came to discussing business. He wasn't used to discussion recently, taking leisure in his responsibilities in order to teach Yekaterina most of what he knew, preparing her for Hogwarts in his own way, as Natalina took a different, fashionable approach to prepping their daughter.
If the condition was too bad, Nikolai wasn't sure how much he would be able to do to help. Of course, he was always up to making experimental potions until they work - but even in that case, he couldn't predict whether or not an experimental potion would kill the user or not. It was always a fifty-fifty chance when it came to things like that.
From the corner of his eye, Nikolai was able to see Natalina leaning closer towards him. Within less than a few moments, her head rested on his shoulder, and his heart slightly fluttered. He felt as though it were a type of consolement - and that's exactly what his wife meant by it.
The man took his focus off of his wife, and looked back to Aaron and Morgan, who were still seated across from him.

Tea With the Petrovs
No one ever looked at themselves in the mirror and thought, "hey, I want to be a writer." The profession was not as widely known as that of, say, an Auror - or, in the Muggle world, an astronaut. Rhea was certainly not one of those who did, but anyone who listened to her speak at that moment would guess that she did, in fact, dream to be a writer. The amount of passion and soul she poured into her story was unmatched; the way she told her story was not a way a normal eleven year old girl. However, being a story-teller was not high on Rhea's list of careers - actually, not high on her parent's list. Rhea didn't particularly mind it.❝I’m overwhelmed and insecure, give me something
I could take to ease my mind slowly❞
Katya's reaction in her story triggered a small sense of happiness in the redhead. Nothing she'd ever said had elicited such a reaction from her parents; the idea of something she had said making someone want to exclaim like that made a smile stretch across her face. She'd just met the girl, but already, she was feeling a sort of... connection, for lack of a better word, with her. Perhaps, as they were both attending Hogwarts in the fall, they could nurture their friendship even more? Rhea hoped so, as she truly did not want to miss out on a possible friend as interesting as Katya.
"Yes, I do find myself lucky that it was simply my hair," Rhea laughed in response, "It would be quite a sight should my skin be red as well. Hideous, if I do say so myself." As the two girls continued to talk, Rhea noticed just how engaged her parents were in conversation. What was so important that the conversation needed to last so long? If Rhea actually knew what the matter was, she'd want to help, whichever way she could. Her parents hadn't actually told her what exactly Nikolai specialized in - she only knew he made potions for a living. She didn't even know what the problem was!
Looking over at Katya, Rhea noticed just how dark her hair was. It was almost as black as the sky at night; so dark it could never be seen anywhere in England. Was hair that black a Russian thing? Rhea wanted to ask, but feared it might be offensive; however, that never stopped the redheaded girl. "Your hair - is it natural? I've never met anyone with hair as black as yours."
The question really did interest Rhea, who had always been one to pay attention to outwards appearances. The habit had been engrained in her by her mother, who was a firm believer in judging a book by its cover - by that, she meant only associating with people who looked and dressed nice. Otherwise, there was no point in making their acquaintance.

Meanwhile…
Quite frankly, Aaron did not know what to do. He, being a member of a prestigious and highly respected family, had never experienced asking someone for help. No, he had always been the one asked to help; people came to him offering aid but he refused it. He could always manage to handle everything… alone.
But Ciara was worth everything to him. Despite the fact that she had messed up and most likely ruined the rest of her life, she was still his sister. And Aaron loved her - from the time they were kids, they’d always been the closest out of the Bishop siblings. He pledged that no matter what, he would be there for her; even if it included sacrificing his dignity. She had done much more for him, and he owed her. This was his own special way of paying her back for all of the good that she’d done for him, as children.
"She has a special disease,” Aaron answered. “The name of which I do not know, but I’m well informed of the symptoms, which I shall reveal to you, should they help you in your potion-making.” It was true, what Aaron stated. The limited amount of Healers at Azkaban all agreed on one thing - this disease of Ciara’s was new and unknown. It had never been seen before, but it was draining Ciara’s life essence. Should it not be treated within the proper amount of time, she would die - without the help of the Dementor’s Kiss.
In a letter that he’d received from the Healers in Azkaban, all of Ciara’s symptoms had been written out in detail. Aaron brought the parchment with him to this meeting, folded neatly in his inner suit pocket. The man did not know what exactly he was asking Nikolai for - he only knew that what Ciara needed could not be found in any hospital, not even in St. Mungos, therefore he needed someone to experiment for a cure. Who better than the potion master himself, Nikolai Petrov?
Looking over at the potioneer across from him, Aaron could see that the man couldn’t quite understand why Aaron had come to him. If the blonde Bishop wasn’t so proud, he wouldn’t voiced his concerns about his sister, his worries for her well-being, and his confusion about her condition. But he was the proudest of them all, and therefore could only sit back in his chair and look at Nikolai with a stony expression. He dared not show how much he cared about his sister, for fear of Nikolai - somehow - using it against him.
The Bishop took out the letter from within his suit and leaned over, sliding the letter towards Nikolai. This was not the original copy, for Aaron could not risk Nikolai recognizing the Azkaban emblem on the letter. Instead, he had ordered a House Elf to copy down the contents on a clear piece of parchment and had used that paper instead. “Here are the symptoms and everything that is known about the disease. I do not know what potion exactly would do to cure her. If you have not already made a potion that could cure a person with these symptoms, then I ask that you experiment. I will pay good money for a cure.”
Leaning back in his chair, he folded his hands in his lap. His wife, Morgan, looked at him with a caring expression on her face - she was not as icy as him, and therefore, permitted herself the freedom of expressions once in a while. Taking her hand away from her cup and bringing towards Aaron, she attempted to entwine their fingers together. However, Aaron ripped his hand away and kept staring at Nikolai. He did not want to seem weak in front of the Russian man; already, his dignity was compromised because he was asking for this potion.
❝Just have a drink and you’ll feel better
Keep telling me that it gets better
Does it ever?❞

the trouble is, if you don't risk anything -- you risk more.
