Who was she kidding? Despite an attempt to reassure her, his actions could not be further from the truth. What was supposed to be a forgiving charm relented, ruthlessly biting back against the dhampir (tatsu crit fail). The kindness of magic had left his nature a long time ago. It was bitterly ironic that the spell he cast so effortlessly just minutes ago was that of a sickening curse. The sight of slugs squirming around in an accumulating pool of blood was incredibly nauseating. If Howard attempted to reach down instinctively to grab the injured animal, his fingers would be snapped by her razor-sharp beak.

The owl form would not withstand any more loss of blood, Aurelia knew and could feel it. How disoriented she had become in barely a span of a few minutes. All she could do was shriek as she wobbled unsteadily towards the door in desperation. Drawing a trail of crimson as her massive wing dragged behind. If it weren't for the godsend adrenaline, every step would have been absolute torture. However, upon reaching the door, she would realise that an owl could not do much to open it and to seek help from any competent wizard outside the threshold.

With her very limited options exhausted, Aurelia would do what she feared she'd be last left to do to preserve herself. The owl morphed, twisting to acquire her larger human form against the severity of her injuries. Because of my limited ability to write descriptive gore and for sensitive readers, her arm and wounds were simply distorted, bloody, unnatural, and very unsightly. Leaning against the door, she would draw her wand from her side in her own defence with her good arm, her blue eyes wide in fear. This whole situation was, for a lack of a better word, familiar.

Perhaps it was from the pain from her injuries and transformation, heavy loss of blood, or the disgusting sight of her own arm, Aurelia knew she was in no state to cast a successful spell. With the room around whirling, she knew there wasn't much time before she'd lose the unconsciousness that she was barely grasping onto. But with a head full of the delirium from loss of blood, she wouldn't think before sneering, "D-don't you fucking dare bite me again, you damned dhampir." Whether she would entirely remember those harsh words or much of everything really, was unlikely. "If you hurt me, I s-swear I'll kill Gary." Those would be her last words, perhaps a promise, before she fell down the abyss of unconsciousness.

Who knew that the presence of a tiny innocent pygmy puff could have led up to this very dilemma?
