A Game of Humiliation
========================================================Special thanks to @Noah Jupe, and @Ari Gwild for giving out ideas for the game.================================================================================================================April 12th, 2022 afternoon time. The Unliving RoomA whole new day arrived, and the Ashwood mansion was as sinister as ever. There Vale was, with her family to boot in their main, unliving room of their dark, eerie home. The room was set up with an array of items on its large, unliving table.
One of the baskets in the room held some form of spicy peppers, while another held onions. But then there was a tank filled with various spiders that looks exactly like the one Vale was known to carry around with her on a regular basis back at school. At the center of all the mystery, were various cards laid down, their content hidden from eye sight. They were purple in color as they laid quietly, awaiting to be overturned by some poor, unfortunate soul who dared to enter the Ashwoods' home for Spring Break.
"Aunt Burgle worked hard with me on these cards! I hope you guys like them!" Vale chirped, moving to sit in one of the many sofas in the room. The spiders slowly moved around in their tanks. The Ashwood men were nowhere to be seen, leaving the game to the devices of the women for the time being.
"Remember the game is all in good favor. Or not, that's not our problem afterwards." Vale bluntly spoke. A smile was on her face while doing so. Chaos was always something fun to witness, especially if it was ignited to do so by her. A large plate of a breaded snack laid to rest next to the cards set up.
"Mama made us mandazi to eat." It was triangular in shape; a fried bread of some sort. It was a traditional dish Vale would eat whenever she was home with her family. Swahili cooking was always a part of the Ashwoods' diet.
"Everyone can pick a card one at a time, and read it to everyone if you want. Or not. We must be willing to face our fears. That is an Ashwood's virtue. You either have to face the truth, or submit to a dare. How fun!"
The young girl could be heard crackling, and the game began. The Rules========================================================
- No stats are necessary for this game. I may plan for next year to have stats matter, but for now, this is only on a test run. OOC rules are always in effect.
- This is more roleplaying-based than game-based. I'll be rolling 1d100 (less than or equal to 50 is a dare, truth is above 50). The cards are a surprise~ All rolls will be done in #bot-spam on the official .io server.
- Some cards have bad things, and some have good things. Remember, your character is not you and any IC interaction doesn't mean OOC interaction is to be held in the same regards. If there's an issue OOC, you can either owl or message me on Discord. Harassment is not welcomed.
- On a brighter note, just because you get a dare or truth card doesn't mean you can't do other things. Got a really bad truth? You could always lie about the truth. A dare that seems overwhelming? You could purposefully misinterpret it and do something else. You can even skip choosing a card if you rather just interact with others. In fact, you can even lie about the card you have. Vale and her family will most certainly take joy in any form of unpredictabilities, and will simply just watch or even throw more oil into the fire.
- Because of the last rule, please don't meta-game. Unless your character actually learned specific information about another beforehand, there shouldn't be a way for said character to know the complete history of another. Things such as calling out lies and knowing X with no reason for your character to do so is meta-gaming. IC drama is welcomed however. Throw oil in a fire, but don't go overzealous with it.
- I plan to do maybe 3-4 rounds. Remember to have fun, and to let me know if there's any issues whether by Discord or by owl.
- There is no winner for this game. However, after the game ends I plan to give everyone a small, appreciation reward for partaking in this event!

Hunter surprisingly felt a lot more comfortable and a little familiar with the Ashwood mansion than he probably should have. Perhaps it was the fact that he was somehow related to the Ashwood family. Or maybe it was the fact he mentally prepared himself by reading his own father's experience when he first entered the Ashwood estate. The mention of "Aunt Burgle" made Hunter a bit curious, but his hair stand a bit on end. Hunter's fist tightened a little on by his hoodie's pocket, holding on to his father's journal tucked inside. He had a slight fear of what would happen if any of Vale's family knew he had a journal with information on them. Unfortunately, Hunter's father didn't quite write much about Aunt Burgle, or perhaps he did and the information was blocked out mostly. From what he recalled, his father had to take a forgetfulness potion to try and forget the woman for some reason.
Hunter reached over and grabbed one of the mandazi with a wide smile on his face: "I haven't had puff-puff in a while," he took a bite into the fried bread and smiled. It slightly reminded him of home because his grandmother used to make them every so often, although she baked them into spherical shapes rather than triangular. Hunter decided to sit on the floor with his back against the couch within the "unliving room" rather than actually sit on it. To him, it seemed a bit rude if he were to sit on the couch from how clean and neat it appeared. He'd rather be a polite guest and have crumbs fall on his new hoodie that his parents sent him due to news of his entrance into Ravenclaw. He reached over for one of the cards not really thinking of the consequences. It seems the delicate bread had already caused him to let his guard down, his first mistake.

The game, which in a regular setting was just an innocent pastime for a group of teens, rang loud alarm bells when set in the Ashwood Mansion. The 'Truth' part of it was alright, probably. She could always just play with words or tell an outright lie, if she didn't like the question. As long as they weren't slipped any Veritaserum; speaking of which, Liana resolved to not touch the snacks that were provided, just in case. 'Dare', though, sounded quite menacing when you knew the hobbies and history of the host family. There was no telling what challenges would be thrown at them.
Being unarmed, in a strange household, about to play a sketchy and likely hazardous game, was not the best situation to be in. The redhead really wished to have her wand right now - especially if some of those dares were to involve alligators. Somehow, after spending over half a year carrying it around and being able to cast spells at will, not having it felt as if she were missing a limb. But giving up their wands had been a requirement they faced upon arrival, and it was reasonable - it wouldn't do to allow underage students use magic outside of school.
Hopefully, the biggest threat they were going to face here today were those spiders occupying the tanks (though preferably they wouldn't be included in the activity, either). Liana wasn't a huge fan of such multi-legged critters, but she wasn't squeamish either - and she had touched far worse things when brewing potions. She approached the myriad of cards and plucked one up, careful to not let anyone see what was written on it before she quickly scanned it herself.

Truth or dare... Not much scared Avery Chen, other than snakes, but the spiders in the tank nearby were a little unnerving. He wondered why they were there, and whether Familia was hanging out with some friends in there. The thought that Vale's pet would be there seemed to calm his nerves a bit. They were just a bunch of spiders hanging out and minding their own business, right? Surely, if a Dare involved these spiders, it couldn't be so bad if Familia was a part of it. "Hey Vale, is Familia here with us in there?" he asked their hostess, motioning towards the tank.
He took a mandazi and bit into it, and it was delicious. The subtle sweetness of the bread and the softness of the texture inside was heavenly.
He then focused his attention towards the purple cards laying face-down on the unliving room table they had all gathered around, munching as he did. The small boy wondered what kinds of horrible Truths those cards would make them reveal, and found himself excited to begin. Well, who could say no to getting some information from his friends and classmates that were worthy of gossip? Perhaps he would even find out what Hunter thought of Vale.

Okay, two nights down. Della's nerves were beginning to settle down and she was getting used to the Ashwood mansion. It certainly helped that the Ashwoods served tasty food and had a plethora of live creatures to gaze at. Della found it difficult to listen to Vale's explanation of the game they were now playing because she was entranced by all the spiders in the nearby tank. Sure Della had a pet golden retriever at home, but her mom would never let her get anything like the beautiful tarantulas she was now carefully watching. She made a mental note that she would have to bring her sketchbook back to this room at some point to get a few sketches in—she could probably even give one to Vale as a present for hosting.
Attempting to be present with the humans in the room, she realized that they were probably playing something akin to truth or dare. Her stomach did a few small flips—her first truth or dare game! Though, this game was probably nothing like the teen movies. She started to nervously chew on a mandazi—it reminded Della a little of a doughnut and its warmth comforted her. "Wow, these are delicious, Vale."
After she finished the snack and could procrastinate no longer, Della picked up a card and read her fate.

Noah appeared to the truth or dare game... of hell. It had to be hell. Why else would Noah be here... maybe Vale just really didn't like Noah the first time they met and Vale wanted to prove that she was terrifying.
He pushed his glasses further up his nose, then cracked his knuckles by clenching his fists and running his fingers over each finger, pushing it down until the cracking sound was audible.
He pulled on his sleeves, he packed the same clothes for the entire trip, with the exception of a crimson cape and blue headband, with black sweater and black athletic wear, in case he needed it.
But he was already so scared, he was afraid to ever put it on being in the home of one Vale Ashwood.
He saw Hunter, and was tempted to run over and give him a hug, but perhaps he ought to mind his own business. Why bother discovering ways to make friends if there is a risk of... them leaving you.... like Mic.
Noah sniffled, his eyes now brought tears. They weren't closed like most people would have theirs when they cry, but open in part of being frightened.

The Cards
It seems many have decided to lay back on card choosing for the time being. @Hunter Argentum, @Liana Kerr, @Avery Chen, @Della Barfield, and @Noah Jupe had the courage to pick up cards. What unfortunate cards did they pick? We shall see.
Hunter Argentum Dare
You must eat a single piri piri pepper. We do have milk and water to drink for the weak.Liana Kerr Truth
Who would you destroy if you could? We destroy indiscriminately.Avery Dare
Break dance like your life depends on it, because it does.Della Truth
Ever lied to an adult? If so, what was it? We don't like goody-two shoes in this house.Oh, how fun. How very fun. You lot got some good cards. But of course, you can always lie about what you have, or cheat. The Ashwoods take great pleasure in any sort of unpredictable actions you will decide. Especially Vale, who will be watching and more than willing to make the situation even worse for you along with the rest of the family that is there for the time being.Noah Truth
Do you have a crush? Don't be shy now.
In fact, you can hear her giggling right now, awaiting to see what action you'll take with the card of your choice.
The piri piri peppers could be found in a small basket, near the tank of spiders. A few glasses of water and cow's milk could be seen nearby as well. Vale smiled at Avery's question on Familia's whereabouts, "Nah, those are all male spiders. Familia would've ate them with her greedy self. She's in my room for the time being." Vale turned her head to her mother when she heard the woman make a soft laugh. Her mother, glad that there were some that took joy in her mandazis.
"I am glad some of you enjoy them. Your guardians were thoughtful of letting you all come over to our home." Adana gently moved a hand onto Vale's head. Her Kenyan accent was noticeable. "It was about time Vale found herself some friends. She only kept writing home about her dolls." "Mama!" The young girl quickly chirped out, a blush easily hidden thanks to her dark skin.
Adana shook her head, "Well now, what cards did you all receive? They were made with fun in mind." Aunt Burgle could be heard crackling in the background, which was sustainably ignored by Adana. Vale was quick to speak in Swahili. "Mama, the cards can be a secret! Aunt Burgle and I made that part of the rules!" The young girl pouted up to her mother. Adana would only keep a smile, teasing her daughter like any usual mother would.
Vale quickly turned her head to her friends. "You can keep your cards a secret! A secret!" Vale's mother seems to always tease her in some way. But it was loving, and Vale usually gets a treat afterwards. Speaking of treats, Vale immediately went to grabbing herself a mandazi to eat as well, chomping happily away at the fried bread and making a sound of delight over her mother's cooking.

Clair watched everyone take their cards, she was more hesitant, and she partly wanted to see what you could get, were there things that would give you nightmares forever? Clair did not fear what the cards would give her (Fearless) but she certainly was in no rush to get super embarrassed, was anyone really? Well it seemed so, as a few other picked up their cards.
Clair waited a few moments, better let them do their thing first.
"Do the males not eat each other too." Clair questioned Vale, "or is your spider just a piggy?"
The thought of eating each other was really gross, then again, The Ashwood family seemed to like things that were weird, gross, odd and utterly crazy from what the Ravenclaw had seen, part of her liked it, it made her feel like she was in a real life version of a muggle movie she had watched a few times, and the other part of her felt like she could never let her guard down; which she had done well not to so far.
The one thing she was the most worried about was eating, she felt as if the food might be made up of Bugs or something gross like that, time would only tell.
Other then her worries she had found the Ashwoods very welcoming, and was enjoying her stay so far.
Getting more courage she picked a card and waited for her fate.

Since Noah drew his card, and was told he could manipulate what the card said, Noah still held back from lying. If anyone paid attention in History, they would know of five words. I Must Not Tell Lies.
Noah was not big on telling lies and his last one nearly landed him in major trouble, even if it was only a teeny tiny twist to what actually happened.
Quietly, yet boldly as he could in a horrifying surrounding, Noah looked at Liana, the one he clearly had no luck with for casting spells against. An illegal duel, and Noah lost. Noah did run away though, to Herbology class before Liana could ever get it in her mind that Noah was officially a target. Whether she got it in her head or not was up to Liana and Noah knew nothing of it.
But still, he maintained eye contact with Liana, and began to utter what was on his card. Slowly. "Do. I. Have. A. Crush?" Noah really wanted to lie so badly but what was the use? It gave a punishment, and Noah was not having any more of this. He was glad his dads let him go, but even as his twin was getting separated from him, he wished his twin could've been here. It would've been easier to tell Billy and not others.
"You probably won't find him anymore. I looked all over and I couldn't find him. My crush at school, was my boyfriend, Michael Miller. But I guess if you mean celebrity crush, well, I guess I rather do like Cole Sprouse. Uh- American actor."
He shut up, his face lit on fire, and he quickly looked away from Liana.Action: drawing a card

Hunter was actually surprised he was the one to have received this dare. If anything it was pure luck for everyone currently in the unliving room for him to have received such a card. The spice of a Piri Piri pepper typically couldn't be handled just straight up raw. Hunter was certain that anyone unfamiliar with spice would have been spending the rest of the day drinking milk, and an entire day in the bathroom had they picked up this card. Then again, everyone was allowed to lie and not share their card and thus could have easily avoided such a dare. However, Hunter wasn't too worried by the thought.
His grandmother sometimes cooked a range of foods including a sauce that was strongly blended with Piri Piri peppers. The issue was Hunter never really ate one just straight-up raw. Still chewing on a piece of mandazi, Hunter still had his guard lowered due to the slightly sweet bread. He figured that if the spice was too much, then he could always just drink some water. Still, was it a good thing for a child his age to seem weak? He read the card again, and it clearly seemed taboo if he were to drink any milk or water.
Hunter jumped up and headed towards the bowl of Piri Piri peppers by the tank of spiders. Avoiding bumping into anybody else, Hunter grabbed two of the peppers and ate both with little hesitation. The heat of the peppers instantly hit Hunter and he was beginning to slightly regret what he had done. Even though the card said to eat one, Hunter thought that eating two would make him appear as the opposite of weak. Placing the stems of the peppers back in the bowl, he slowly walked back to his spot on the ground against the couch. His face was already turning a different shade of red, and slight drops of sweat were beginning to form. His grandmother most likely used one or two peppers for an entire jar of sauce, and the blended seasonings typically reduced their heat.
Hunter reached over and grabbed another mandazi, swiftly shoving it in his mouth. Many would assume he was either really hungry or had a very strong sweet tooth. The latter was true, but he also wanted to relax his taste buds. Perhaps the bread would allow the heat in his mouth to be reduced and help him cope with it. Even though Hunter was secretly screaming in his head and biting down deeply into the bread, he was capable of giving out a slight muffle of words, "imf twmuth omf sdame thwis emfsy?" (Is truth or dare this easy?) However, Hunter listened to what Noah's card was, and he realized that this game would also require mental strength.
