Sorting Ceremony
I listened to the witch explain to us what was going to happen and I grew so excited ((I couldn't remember her name because when she told us, I was zoning out, trying to see into the hall)) to get sorted into my house with my new friends. I wonder what house I'll get put into, maybe Gryffindor... or Slytherin... never Ravenclaw.
On the train, I heard some older kids in coloured robes talking about some Riddler. To begin with, I thought that they were talking about The Riddler .. ((you know, from batman?)) Anyway, apparently not because the Riddler didn't go to Hogwarts -- imagine if he had magic and he defeated Batman. I am going so off track right now. They were saying that he caused a war!
"Ravenclaw!"
I jolted out of my trance when few kids started bumping into me, clapping, and I saw another girl hop off the stool. Oh god, was it my turn yet? A grin formed on my face.
"Bishop, Carina!" the still nameless witch called. I took a deep breath, now aware that there was loads of eyes on me, I gave them all a grin, my white teeth flashing and dimples forming. I caught the eye of a still-houseless-girl and flashed another smile. I saw her blush and hide her face. I walked over to the stool and took a seat, folding the robe under me so it didn't tuck under the seat. "Good luck dear," the witch whispered -- that made me guilty for missing her name.
Then the hat was placed on my head...
I folded my hands on my lap and closed my eyes, I wanted to concentrate on the hat.
"Hello young witch," the hat said.
"Are you... real, can everyone hear you?" I thought.
The hat laughed, "Of course not Miss Bishop. Didn't you hear the others?" I shook my head and laughed.
"Uh, nope. I was getting very bored of watching them sit on stools for like, five minuets," I answered, my legs started to swing back and forth as I grew slight bred. When could I start learning magic?
"Mmmm. Well, you weren't exactly the scholar, where you. Had quite close friends but not many," the hat said with a thoughtful noise.
"That was choice! Hardly anyone ever wanted to do the same things as me," I answered.
"Right, right. You got hurt quite a lot as a kid, didn't you. Always falling off your bike... getting scratched by a dog... you're quite bold aren't you. I am pretty sure everyone saw you flirt with that young girl down there," the hat decided to mutter other things about my temper with my math homework, the whole accidentally blasting the book and pen out the window thing came up.
"Can you just place me in a house? I cant wait for my first day!" I told the hat. The hat tutted and it was silent for a few moments.
"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat yelled. I grinned and hopped off the stool, almost thrusting the hat into the witches face as I raced for the cheering table. I sat down in between an older girl and boy.
"Congrats. You're called Carina right?" the boy asked.
"Yep," I nodded. I then turned around and saw the girl from earlier, she looked right at me and we both smiled. I think I'm going to like it here. I cant wait to learn magic............
...... and find out what Quidditch is.

Sorting Ceremony
The male's eyes laced with excitement and curiosity, as he had stuck by his friends side throughout the journey to the great hall. Everything was just so out of this world, as his mouth remained agaped. Promptly closing it once he had realized it, not wanting another fly accident. He gazed over at his friend, offering a comforting smile. The auburn-haired male could feel his heart racing, before quickly coming to a halt amongst the rest of the students once they had made it. He glanced over at his friend, being able to take note that the other must've been intraced with the look of the great hall. Concern flashing in his eyes, as he leaned towards to the male. Speaking in a soft whisper, in hopes of not being scolded for speaking. ""Hey.. Ease down, alright? You're going to be fine." He tried to speak in a comforting tone, hoping it might help the other.
Galahad fixed his own posture, standing straight and tall as he wanted to get a better look at the students that would be sorted. For once the male was attentive, only fidgeting with the hem of his sleeve in order to keep this attention, however. He stood with much confidence, and for once the male was able to hold a straight face, unlike his usual beaming one.
His expression quickly snapped into one of surprise once he heard the headmaster's voice boom out. "Galahad Damaris!" Carefully gazing back at Judas, he gave him a warm smile and a nod. It was his own way of communicating a simple yet brief see you soon, unsure as to what the other's house might be. He made his way towards the stool, sitting on it as he folded his hands on his lap. The hat was placed onto his curly locks, as he relaxed his shoulders once it had begun to hum and groan in thought. "Yes, courageous as you are one to put yourself out there with astounding confidence. Looks to be,Gryffindor!" His eyes lit up, as gazed into the crowd of students for a second. Promptly thanking the hat, before making his way in the direction that other Gryffindor students had gone. Taking a seat as he continued to watch the sorting ceremony, waiting to hear where Judas Kaine would be sorted into.
Gave the male a smile, as to try and reassure him. Yet once he had heard the other was sorted into Hufflepuff, his smile faltered a tad. Worried began to trace his mind as he watched the male, and once he was seated he finally turned towards his table. Trying to think of what this might mean for the both of them, hopefully, they would still be able to be friends even with the house difference.

Sorting Ceremony
An involuntarily shaky breath escaped her lips as Anemone entered the Great Hall, following the other first-years into the wake of the Sorting Ceremony. She raised the bridge of her golden glasses with a chipped, purple fingernail, gazing around at the sea of students who stared right back with varying expressions of interest. She felt somewhat uneasy by the attention but tried to remind herself that it wasn't directed specifically at her, but the students in general who would be starting Hogwarts for the first time.
High above her head hung hundreds of candles underneath an exact replica of the night sky on the ceiling above, with twinkling lights and glowing moon. One couldn't blame her for awe and uncertainty given the fact that just a two or three weeks ago she had absolutely no idea that magic was as real as the fairy tales portrayed. She had been napping in her room the day of her eleventh birthday when her letter from Hogwarts arrived in with the crazy hoots of a humongous barn owl. After that whole ordeal, which several explanations from other wizards, she had found her way to Diagon Alley with her father which welcomed her to the wizarding world, where she saw strange yet fantastic creatures and mysterious books of enchantments in shops that sounded right out of a children's story book.
Now she was treading between the four long tables of the four house of Hogwarts, dressed in a black robe and matching pointed hat, towards the back of the hall where a lone, worn hat sat on a stool: the renown Sorting Hat. Anemone only knew so much about what would be going on, much was left to her own discovery and imagination, but she felt the importance of this whole situation. She knew, at least, that she was going to be sorted into one the four houses and it would be chosen based off of some discernment of what was going on inside her mind, and her heart.
The Headmaster of the school, Professor Lear, answered several of her questions when he began his speech, explaining what was to happen in the ceremony. He explained how the hat was actually sentient, which made her heart skip a beat, especially after it spoke, and how it worked. He introduced the head professors of each house, who Anemone eyed curiously, wondering whose class she'd be attending first once the classes officially began.
Afterwards the sorting hat sang it's song, telling the story of the ancient school of Hogwarts and what it meant to be part of it. Anemone listened intently, trying to figure out what she should make of everything. Although going to magic school was definitely intriguing, is was almost equally as daunting, especially when she had previously been so clueless only to be told about everything so abruptly. Her father said she could return to regular school if she wanted, if this one seemed to much. Even though this huge change was interesting she had to admit that it was a little bit overwhelming at times, especially the part when she had to gather up the courage to run through a stone wall by herself...in front of a crowd of people.
Soon the Sorting Hat began calling names of students, and unfortunately Anemone realized that she would be one of the very last to be called. She sighed heavily as she gazed around at the amount of first-years and tried to get into a comfortable standing position.
"Waddleath, Anemone."
The young wizard had been daydreaming minutes before until she heard one of the lingering student mention that they were nearing the end and readied herself for her turn. Anemone hurried up to the stool, placed the hat atop of her head and sat down. She waited for only a second.
"Anemone...the garden flower, or the sea creature? Protection from others, or protection from self? Deep power resides within, in your core, in your heart. Your gifts are unbeknownst to you, but will never depart. Have pride, for you shall be a GRYFFINDOR."
Her lips cracked into a smile this time as Anemone made her way towards the rumbling table draped in red and gold.

It's just like in the books.
That's Louan's first thought when he enters the great hall.
The room is huge, the size, the floating candles, the animated portrait, the big table, everything is like in the book. Around him, the other first years were also amazed and looked around excitedly. The older students are chatting with each other, certainly about their vacation. The teachers looked at the group of first years with emotionless faces. And the imposing principal in his silver armor greets them. The man looks intimidating even though he tries not to be. He introduces the different houses and the Sorting Hat.Then the names start to be called .
The Sorting .....
Louan has thought about his future house for a long time. He knows that his parents will be happy if he is a Slytherin or at least a Ravenclaw like his aunt.
His godmother thinks he can be a Hufflepuff, he is so nice as she says, even though he finds it embarrassing. The one thing he was sure of was that he was not a Gryffindor, the last thing he could have was boldness and courage.
Floyd,Louan
Louan was so deep in thought that he didn't hear his name
Floyd,Louan ?
he feels looks on him and decides to look at him
Everyone is staring at him
He walks without saying a word, afraid to stutter.
He feels all eyes are on him. He starts to feel bad.
Hurry, please, I'm about to die here.
Impatient, no one will eat you, says a voice in his head.
Thank you, I think.
You're a sweetheart, umm, always happy, always smiling even when you're sad. You are not like the others Floyd.
I know.
Don't be sad. There's nothing wrong with being different. Hm,a difficult case. You're wise and ambitious, but I think Slytherin is not for you.
Ravenclaw, maybe.
No, even if you are curious, it's more like you have a thirst to discover the world. You're also courageous.
Courageous?!
Yes, I made my choice, for you it will be
!!Gryffindor!!
What?! He almost screams.
Applause comes from the Gryffindor table. He tries to remember how to walk, Ah yes, one foot in front of the other. He silently approaches the noisy table. He thinks he hears someone asking him if he is okay, but he doesn't hear. This school year is going to finish him off.
What kind of trouble have I gotten myself into?

SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2021
The ceiling sparkled like the night sky, and Charlie almost tripped over her feet watching it. It was better than noticing the hundreds of eyes staring at the group she was in, all filled with anticipation. She made a big gulp as her cheeks reddened. Charlie was sure that the first years around her all were curious of where they will lie, she couldn't help but think of it herself. She saw Leo go before her, her new acquaintance she'd met on the train. She couldn't help but clap and howl when she saw him being sorted to Hufflepuff, a deep feeling Charlie had known when she'd met him. His kind and gracious offering of pumpkin pie gave that impression to her. Eventually her name was called out,
"Grace, Charlie"
When it was quiet her cheeks reddened more as she made her way up the stairs. She passed by Lavinnia, another acquaintance from the train. Charlie waved and sat down on the creaky stool, the hat was placed onto her head.
"Hmm, a witch with two strong bloodlines..."
"Where to put you...?"
"I see...."
A loud roar erupted from the hat,
"GRYFFINDOR!"
My mother's alumni, she thought. She thanked the hat and made her way towards the table. She looked out and saw Leo sitting at his table, and gave a slight wave. Perhaps they'll meet later on in class, she hoped. Her hand shook many, she'd almost lost count. It then seemed quite some time until they reached the last student, but Charlie didn't mind. She smiled that she was finally here, and couldn't wait to owl her family of the news.

My parents told me a lot about Hogwarts and about the four faculties that are there. My mom was from Ravenclaw. She is very smart and loves to read. Her love of reading was passed on to me. But my father was in Gryffindor. He loved playing Quidditch and had a lot of friends. He gave me a love of sports and jokes. My parents have a lot of interesting school stories. But I never thought: where will I end up? All night before the trip, I was thinking about where the hat could send me. And then, when I got on the train, I got seasick, and I quickly fell asleep. I had a nightmare: "I'm walking down a dark corridor. I have a candle in my hands that is about to go out. A winding corridor leads me to a huge black door. It swung open in front of me. There was a nasty torn hat behind the door. As soon as she saw me, she smiled terribly, and sharp teeth stuck out of her mouth.
I got out of the compartment and joined the other freshmen. On the platform it was very bright from the lanterns and not at all scary. But the fear returned as soon as we approached the very door to the Great Hall.
I was numb. I never even considered the possibility that I could get into Slytherin.
They took off my hat and I went to my desk. I'm very hungry, so I'll think about my faculty later.
"Come to me, girl," she hissed.
I dropped the candle and it went out. I backed away and wanted to run away, but there was a wall there. Suddenly a strong gust of wind began to suck me to the hat. The hat opened its mouth and a terrible roar was heard. And...". Then I woke up. We arrived at Hogwarts, and the train was buzzing, announcing such a joyful event.I got out of the compartment and joined the other freshmen. On the platform it was very bright from the lanterns and not at all scary. But the fear returned as soon as we approached the very door to the Great Hall.
- The distribution will take place now, β our guide informed us and opened the doors. β Come in and line up at the table.
All first-year students began to be called on the list. I was so excited that I didn't notice how I was already sitting on a chair, and the hat was on my head.
- Ms. Hawkins, I see you are very excited. However, you are smart and resourceful, inquisitive and sneaky, but you have little courage ... Gryffindor will not suit you. You couldn't make friends with anyone on the train⦠Perhaps Hufflepuff won't suit you either. I see a lot of strength in you, You can achieve fame if you find yourself in the right faculty... Yes, I think yes, Slytherin suits you...
"But wait, maybe.." - I just had time to think, as I heard the roar of the hatSLYTHERIN!
I was numb. I never even considered the possibility that I could get into Slytherin.

The clamoring excitement of other soon to be students was nigh infectious - but not for Evelyn. While she too was of course looking forward to her attendance to Hogwarts like any other, the sight alone of seeing so many people assembled in one place was still a bit of a shock to the system. Prior experiences of private home tutoring and small group lessons did little to prepare her for these types of experiences, but she was not the type to wilt when confronted with a new challenge.
Calm and careful observation combined with her keen eyes allowed for lithe and agile movement through the crowd. Seamlessly like a shadow she slipped forward, her short unassuming stature allowing for a greater ease of passage that a taller person might not have. Having elder siblings back home meant she was well acclimated to this much at least. Whenever they stirred up excitable drama it was usually in her best interest to blend in with the background and stay out of it... lest she be dragged into the chaos as well!
Ever facing forward while wearing a neutral expression, her eyes glanced about with politely reserved interest in all there was to see while taking it all in. While the majority of her surroundings were currently obscured by others as they filed ahead in a somewhat messily organized fashion, the architecture of Hogwarts was still a marvel in itself to behold. The tall and imposing headmaster that stood to greet incoming students as they entered the great hall gave off the sense of an oak tree that had weathered the test of time against many a tempest.
Such was the palpable calm before the storm as the headmaster made his way to the front of the assembled mass, both a commanding reverence and calm competence to his stride. When it became clear the unfurled scroll was a listing of names to be read out, Evelyn couldn't help but let out a groan of discontent. This was... going to take a good while, wasn't it? Mature for one of her age she might be, but still the impatience of a child she had. Especially if there were quicker ways to go about things. As there was only one sorting hat however, waiting in masse seemed the only way to go about it as it were.
By the time her own name was called, her eyelids were weighing heavily down despite her best efforts to keep her posture rigid and upright. Tentatively separating herself from those she had been standing in the thick of until now, the sudden sense of isolation with all eyes upon her was unnerving. With a sharp shake of her head to try and further jostle herself awake from having stood at semi-attention for so long, she approached the front and felt the animated had being placed upon her head. After a bit of musing to itself, the thunderous declaratory roar for house placement was said for all to hear.
Evelyn's normally well composed demeanor dropped as her eyebrows quirked up in surprise at this announcement. Not that she had particularly hoping for one house placement over another, as long as she could learn and accomplish her goals via whatever means she was granted while here... yes, with her destined house now set, Evelyn intended to make the most of her time her. Out of sight from her siblings who had long since completed their own magical studies, she fully intended to find and excel at her own calling.

Entering the great hall in a complete state of awe, Judas could feel the pounding in his chest. Nothing in his wildest dreams could have prepared him for the sight before him as he looked upwards to the twinkling lights of stars. The illusion of the night sky caused both excitement and fear as he felt this was an impossible place. Having only just discovered his status as a wizard, he'd had no idea what was in store for him. He looked over to Galahad wondering if the other boy felt the same way. Afterall, they were both muggle-born.
Being so distracted by his thoughts, Judas didn't notice the students before him had stopped. As he crashed into a student before him, he quickly looked to the floor avoiding the person's eyes. "So Sorry! I was just... the ceiling is... I'm just so sorry."
The anxiety of having caused any kind of disturbance as to merit being noticed, had him pulling himself into a hunched position in an attempt to look smaller. He took deep breaths to calm himself as his mother had taught him, before moving around the crowd to get a better look at the sorting ceremony.
Child after child was called forward to sit on the stool and Judas found it fascinating as he watched them being sorted. Watching the previous girl as she was sorted into Slytherin, he wondered what kind house he would be chosen for. He'd looked into his school book Hogwarts: A history and found himself feeling peculiar. Each of the houses had such different values, he wondered if he truly embodied any of them. Just before his own name was called, he heard that of his friend. Galahad was being called forward. He watched as the other boy made his way to the stool. He felt a bit of anxiety wondering which house his friend would end up in. After a few minutes, a loud shout of Gryffindor! was heard.
"Judas Kaine!" A voice called for him.
He took a shaky breathe and stepped forward, looking back to Galahad for reassurance. As he took his seat feeling the weight of the hat atop his head a voice in his head startled him.
"Yes, I know this name. Kaine, a great line to be sure. Full of Wizards who fought bravely for their ideals. Though a family full of Gryffindors, each were loyal to a fault. I see the same potential warm heart in you as others before, but a bit too shaky for such a house. Ah, yes. Clearly you are a....
Hufflepuff!!"
The shout startled him, but he pulled through and stood abruptly looking to his friend with a disappointed face. He had wanted to be in Gryffindor so badly with the other male. Shaking his head with watery eyes, he made his way in the direction of the tables. What had the book said? Yellow, that was always a light shade right? He made his way towards one of the tables that looked about right only to be stopped by a polite, "Ahem."
He looked up to where they were indicating the symbols on the robes and the banners above. It was very clearly a Snake. With a red face of embarrassment he quickly corrected himself and made his way towards the badger. Laughter could be heard behind him, but he rushed to his correct table not looking back.
Once seated, he hid his face beneath his hood. He could see the other boy sitting across the hall and let out a sad sigh.

Sorting Ceremony
Elesarh stood with her head bowed in the clump of first years waiting to be sorted. Her breathing became sharper and more panicked the further down the list the teacher got. They were on F, G, I, K
"Lindsay Elesarh!"
Elesarh stumbled forwards, almost tripping on the stairs, she lowered herself on the stool and looked around the hall one last time as she closed her eyes, feeling the hat slip over her head. Really, there was no need because it fell past her eyes, plunging her into darkness. She tried to breath deep, telling herself that the house would choose right. As a Muggleborn, she had no pressure to be in a certain house like her family, but nevertheless, she'd done a ton of research on the different houses. That probably made her a Ravenclaw. But she wanted to be a Hufflepuff. Partly because she couldn't be bothered to answer a question to get into her common room. Maybe that was the Hufflepuff way, but it wasn't mentioned in any of her books. She was so caught up in her thoughts and worries that she nearly missed what the Sorting Hat was saying.
"No need to worry dear. You'll be just fine. My. You've a sharp mind, quick tongue. Very Slytherin and Ravenclaw. But lazy. A very lazy mind. Gryffindor is out of the question. You can have the bravery, but not the gusta, the bravado, the brashness, boldness, hot headedness. I think....yes I think. HUFFLEPUFF!" The hat shouted the last words and with a sigh of relief Elesarh sprang up, whipping the hat off her head as she hurried to join her new classmates.

Sorting Ceremony
[quote]It had been a long night as Shiawase wheeled herself in. There was a charming exchange with the headmaster and . . . wait. Did that hat . . . just talk?! Okay, it's fine. It's magic. This whole place is magic. So really, it'd be stranger if there weren't a talking garment that decided a major part of what your life would be for the next seven years at the tender age of eleven. Sure. This is fine. As the hat sang of the houses, her brows furrowed. Every other house seemed to be complimented . . . except Slytherin. The 'cunning folks will use any means to achieve their ends' thing didn't sound particularly good to her. Perhaps if the line were phrased differently? Then again, they had to think of a line that would rhyme with friends, didn't they? Still, in most situations, using any means means doing potentially bad things and saying the ends justify them . . . which most of the time, they do not. It certainly sounded a lot like, "These cunning people will stab you in the back if you get in their way!" More like an ominous warning . . . who wants to be friends with someone who would throw you under the bus if it meant getting what they want?
The line unsettled her quite a bit, but she knew she was overthinking again. Surely nobody's thinking of hurting someone else to do what they want. Not really. The meaning probably isn't all backstabby. It's probably means they're very dedicated and are willing to sacrifice their time and social lives in order to get top grades or whatever else they want to do. She could respect that. She'd been up 'til this point, very good in school and she would certainly do almost anything to keep getting the best grades possible.
"Shiawase Mamori!" Right. It was time. She wheeled up to the front and had the sorting hat placed on her head.
"Hmmm. Yesss. I see. You try to be kind and make friends. You're very loyal, and when you tried to save your friend from her allergic reaction, that was quite brave. You always try to have top marks in your classes, and you're certainly well-read. You even have a tendency to overthink. Based on this, you'd probably be fine in any house, the question is, where will you learn the most? Which one is the best for you? You wanted to be a doctor, and now you want to turn the whole wizarding world on its head. Your strongest trait is your ambition."
"I really don't know about that one. Doesn't everyone have big dreams at my age?" Shiawase asked.
"Perhaps, but you have the dedication it takes to make them reality. I think you'll do great things. Better be . . .
"SLYTHERIN!"
Shiawase frowned slightly as she wheeled away. She wasn't so sure that she was really in the best house for her . . . then again, who was she to question a centuries old hat? She smiled a timid smile as she greeted her fellow Slytherins, and immediately felt better. At least it was over with and she could eat now!
