Nicky entered the hospital wing quietly with a very guilty look on her face. She couldn't believe that she just participated in a duel where she repeatedly set two people on fire and where her team's lightning hit a ravenclaw boy who was really nice and fun to joke around with. She couldn't leave her team now, she was addicted to duelling, that much was clear. The beauty of working together with another person as one, the strategy, the opportunity to use spells - it all was drawing her in to the sport. But it still didn't change the fact that she felt a villain right now and wanted to make it up to the people who were knocked out because of her.
She was walking among the beds, looking very lost and confused. She expected the hospital wing to be smaller when she was headed here, and now she had no idea how she was going to find a guy she had only seen once in her life. They weren't even in the same year, so the only thing she remembered was red hair and his voice, everything else was erased by the memories of her winning the duel, and the lightning, and the spells flying in all directions. Nicky stopped in the middle of the hospital wing, looking around, hoping that she would eventually manage to locate Robert.

Robert groggily opened his eyes and sighed. Although he was unable to quite see at the moment, having lost his contacts at some point between the end of the duel and now, he immediately knew where he was. Once again, his duel had ended with him in the hospital wing. Even after spending over a year in the wizarding world, he was always amazed at how quickly magic could bring a person back to health. However, even if he wasn’t in physical pain, he was definitely in mental anguish. This time, there was no wondering if his partner had made it through, had somehow carried them to victory. The weight of the duel had fallen entirely to him, and he had been unable to handle it. In his mind, it didn't matter that the odds were stacked against him, or that he'd still survived half the duel by himself. All that mattered was that he hadn't been enough.

Robert let out a deep breath and pushed these thoughts to a special crevice of his brain that he could ignore at times, and access when in need of motivation. Looking around him, he noticed that somehow he glasses had made their way out of his dorm and onto his bedstand. He wasn't sure who brought them, but the fact that someone had thought of it made him feel a warm glow inside. Putting them on and blinking the sleep out of his eyes, he sat up in his bed took in his surroundings.

The hospital wing was filled with a bustling energy, which made sense for a dueling day. However, in the midst of all the purposeful movement of the nursing staff, Robert's eyes were drawn to a single figure who seemed quite lost. He recognized her as one of the Gryffindors he'd just dueled, but as much as he tried, he couldn't quite remember which one she was. He seemed to recall that one seemed like a nice person, while the other struck him as slightly a bad sport. While he was trying to figure it out, he accidentally locked eyes with her. Embarrassed, he quickly looked away, eyes darting around the room, attempting to convince himself that he was staring at everyone equally. However, he couldn't help himself from continuing to glance over at her, curious about what she was doing here.

Nicky was feeling more and more lost when suddenly her eyes made contact with a familiar kind gaze, the same one she saw at the duelling match. She saw the boy turn away quickly and felt a slight blush spreading over her cheeks. Was he angry with her for knocking him out after all? Maybe he wouldn't want to talk to her and then her little trip would be completely in vain. However, she didn't want to act like a freaked out little kid and run away from someone whose reaction she couldn't predict. She had to come up to him and see if he really was mad at her or just didn't notice her. It could be that he didn't recognize her, it was the second time they were seeing each other. Nicky walked up to the boy's bed and stood in front of him, bouncing on her feet a little.
"Hi! My name is Nicky, I'm not sure if you remember me from the duel. You're Robert, right? I am only here for a few minutes, I just wanted to say how really sorry I am about setting you on fire and all those other things. I really didn't want to hurt you, it was only for spell practice and for the good of the team, and I felt like I had to apologize because you're here because of me. I hope you're not too angry and I brought you some chocolate as compensation for the pain!"
She smiled brightly at the boy as she rattled on merrily with a happy sparkle in her eyes.
