"Slappy New Year" Noah thought, his head and heart swelled with pride. He was the owner of both of his favorite clubs. Theatre and Goosebumps. Now, he had a talk with the Producer, Director, and their assistants, about the next play the Theatre Club was going to do. And they all agreed on a few things, the most popular, of course, was hosting an Open Audition, where there would reside Noah, in his best suit, all prepared for the evening.

He walked into the Rehersal Room, the same outfit he wore for the Talent Show of 2021, that took place on September 11th, brought back memories of the show.

He would notice multipe low, yet flat, blocks of wood in the corner of the room, hidden away from sight, hiding in the shadows.

He dragged them out, one by one, and the idea clicked into his head to make a stage out of it. Now, it would be a low stage, of course, but, it makes it accessible for everyone to step onto without breaking their backs, and truth be told, no matter how much of a nerd Noah was, he didn't know the healing spells. Allegedly, they taught those in third year.

He was glad he knew the color changing spell, because he was going to be making some changes to the room. He set out the chairs, at least a thirty anyways, if there were more, there were seats up against the wall of the entrance.

He pointed his wand towards each individual box and it's sides, whispered "co-loh-VA-ree-ah", and had it alternate neon green and jet black. The main color of Goosebumps, and along the edge of the combined wood block stage, it was all purple.

He set a aisle of a dark purple carpet, again from his spell, and it went between the middle segment of the seating. The next part Noah loved very much. The Bluebell Flames.

He had them away from anything flammable, laying out flat slate rocks for the blue fireball to reside on. "la-KAR-num in-flah-MAR-ee."

Now, he set up a table for Noah to take notes on for each Audition. He had made a poster the day before about the Audition, but only mentioned that at the moment, they were casting for;

Dorothy, a 13 year old girl, would be the first to meet Slappy, in over a century. Slappy, a multi-centuries old ventriloquism doll, who has returned to haunt Dorothy. And to take over mankind, so really, just a evil dummy with magic powers for evil. Gary, who is Dorothy's 11 year old brother, would be the one to mess around with her and wake up Slappy with the six magic words. Ensemble, to sing, dance, and provide support to the show. Dorothy and Gary's parents, clearly wouldn't believe their kids about Slappy. Curly, a skeleton with a pink mohawk, would be the narrator, and disguses himself in many ways, the only giveaway of himself, is his skeleton skull. Zombies, since they are going to be in the graveyard. And extras, in which will have bigger parts in the show since it's being handwritten.

He was looking forward to the use of his weather spells he learned in Astronomy, and smiled with a satisfied grin. He had his quill in his hand, preparing to write down the name of the auditioner and what they're auditioning for.

For everyone coming onto stage, Noah asks about their name, their desired role and if they don't happen to get it, what other would they be happy to get. And, what have they got to show? Of course, he hoped for a monologue corresponding to the play, but it's perhaps not going to be a promise since they're at a magic school and not a muggle school.

The last thing Noah would ask for before they step off the stage is for them to sing something, since this is going to be a musical.

Willa walked into the rehearsal room, second-guessing her decision to come here. She wanted to share her talent, but part of her didn't. Her mind was spinning

"I-I'm Willa Moon... I don't really want a part, b-but, um, I heard you were doing a horror play, and I... uh... I can play some eerie chords on the harmonica if you w-want.", she sputtered out. She was mad at herself for butchering a few simple sentences in her fear. She cleared her throat, taking deep breaths. She took out of her pocket an old, weathered harmonica. She had found it, sitting by itself, a while ago, before coming to Hogwarts. It has since been comforting to her, like an old friend. She was more comfortable with serene, peaceful chords or blues, but the play was a horror one.

She took it to her mouth and breathed in. The notes went through her head. She played some chords, that put even her, playing the music, on edge. She bowed with shy delight once she finished. She carefully put the beloved harmonica into her pocket, where it would be safe and sound. She gave a shy smile, proud of herself. She was now beaming.

Walking down the corridors towards the Rehearsal Room, Bailey’s heels of her boys clicked on the hard floor. She was headed to the audition for a horror play by the theater club, which she had recently signed up for. It was ran by Noah Jupe, someone she considered a friend but might be one sided. She and Noah had had a collision in this very corridor, and it wasn’t her fondest memory. Despite this, Bailey had signed up for both clubs that Noah was in charge of. Besides the Theater Club, he also ran the Goosebumps Club, which she had also signed up for because of a bargain she and Noah had.
Walking into the Rehearsal Room, Bailey saw two people present. There was Noah of course, and a girl with red hair, piercing gray eyes and pale skin. The girl was playing an old and slightly battered harmonica. I wonder what she’s auditioning for? Maybe to play like music? And who all had auditioned so far? Will there be any spots back?
Walking I to the room fully, Bailey waved to Noah and waited for the girl to finish before speaking. “hello! My name is Bailey Glade. I’m here for the audition? If there are any parts left, I mean. I did submit a form or whatever and sent it to you Noah by owl, but I dunno if you’ve received it yet.”

Sophia stood nervously outside the rehearsal room. She didn’t have the slightest clue what to expect. She’d seen the flier for the Theatre Club, and had even sent in her application by owl, but she didn’t know who was in the club. She could be walking into an empty room full of strangers, and she’d never know.

Regardless, the auditions were about to start for the upcoming musical, and she was so excited. She’d read the brief description of the show before coming, but she still didn’t know all that much about it. The only plays she’d been in previously were church plays during holidays, and this upcoming play was not only secular, but it was a horror play and a musical.

Sophia wasn’t arrogant. Her voice was decent. Nothing groundbreaking, but she was under no illusion to the contrary.

She pushed the door open and scanned the room.

A familiar looking redhead was actively auditioning at the moment, playing an old harmonica. Her playing put Sophia on edge, but that was probably perfect for a horror play.

Watching the audition was a young boy that Sophia didn’t recognize, but she could still put a name to the face. Noah. He was the one she’d sent application to. Had to be.

Standing next to Noah was, thankfully, a familiar face. Bailey. The first Ravenclaw Sophia had ever talked to. The one to help calm Sophia when she’d almost had a panic attack due to the height of the common room.

Sophia quietly walked over to them to avoid interrupting the auditioner. She gave them both a wave and greeted, “Hello. I’m Sophia. I’m here for the audition.”

She looked to Bailey and grinned, “Hi, Bailey!”
Sophia plans to audition for the role of Dorothy, or as an extra! She’s totally happy with either!

Noah looked up from his paper, acting like he was some old librarian, tilting his glasses, looking suspicious towards anyone, but Noah stifled his laugh. He couldn't bear to stay serious, or look at anyone in a funny way. But after listening to @Willa Moon he felt intrigued, as if he was considering her for someone to work backstage and handle sound effects and music. Well, not backstage exactly, and because Noah didn't want to make a temporary Crow's nest, the sound and light would be controlled behind the audience in the House.

"Congrats Willa! You are more than welcome to play the eerie chords any time it calls for it! Welcome aboard!"

Next, was the... really? It was the girl that stole his homework.@Bailey Glade "Y-yes? Do- do you have so-something- to show?" Then it dawned on him that he never really explained what to do once entrance.

"Okay so... if you have anything you'd like to show, please do... any monologues for Narrator, Dorothy, Gary, or Slappy, or other characters I have mentioned, try to intrigue me with a speech, IN CHARACTER."

"Alright, hi @sophia nelson! How are you today? Mind showing me what you got? I'd love to see if you would be the perfect Dorothy!"

He hadn't ever thought about joining the Theatre Club. Not until he came across the poster about the audition for a Goosebumps musical play the club was putting on. Hell, now Kim was tempted to join, just to get a chance to sing on stage. It would mean people would hear his sound and if he could put a smile on the face of just one person, it would be worth it. Even if it wasn't a song he'd written and composed, Kim liked to sing and dance. Perhaps he'd try.

After all, the worst that could happen would be that he would be rejected, so why not? Even if that happened, he could still participate in some aspect, such as being a choreographer for dance movements. Or a costume designer, since he had an interest in fashion. Even someone who sold concessions for the play to spectators. I mean, seriously, the sweets in the wizarding world were not to be taken lightly! Who would not want to indulge in sweets like chocolate?

Only ghosts or zombies wouldn't want to partake.

As Kim entered the area where the auditions were supposed to be held, he let his eyes flicker around the room. It was a very colorful place, decorated with green, black and purple colors.

Hey, like his current hair color!

If he remembered correctly, the Goosebumps books usually tended to be these colors. The fact that the leader had made the surroundings into these colors spoke of how into it he was.

From the poster the leader was said to be Noah Jupe, the name sounding very familiar to him. Wait, was that the guy from the Martial Artist Club? That would be cool to see him in a different environment, one as a leader. Kim already knew what role he was going to audition for and even if he didn't get it, he was quite content to merely be part of the ensemble. After all, you could still sing and dance there. It was just if you got a bigger role, it was a bit better.

Why? Because there were more chances to sing.

And less chances of someone bumping into him or being too close to him.

However, like he'd thought before, even if he couldn't get a part on stage, he could always help out behind the scenes. The stage was empty when he reached the area and Kim got onto it and faced where the audience would have been. A lone figure could be seen, watching him. He must be Noah. Kim tilted his head to the side as he closed his eyes and eased the kinks out of his neck. "Kim Sato. I'd like to audition for the part of Curly, the Narrator."

"But I would be just as fine with being part of the ensemble too." Kim said and then launched into his audition. "Welcome, watchers. Once again, we see that evil cannot be contained forever. Eventually, someone will find what others have tossed away or hidden. Slappy, a powerful evil ventriloquist doll, once thought to have been taken care of forever by humans, has returned to the world again."

He paused for dramatic effect and then continued his lines. "This time, a young girl by the name of Dorothy finds and takes him home. But what will happen to this girl and her family when Slappy takes over? Wait and see, watchers. This is where our story begins." Kim concluded, finishing his monologue and then grinned, tilting his head to the side. It was as if he was trying to act out the part of a fun but odd skeleton chara.

Now it was time for his song.

Kim was going to do an impromptu type of rap.

🎵 "Time passes by,
The girl wonders why,
Her younger brother bothers her all the time,
She tells her mother that it's a crime
Her mother tells her it's completely fine.

So then he goes into her room,
Running around like a superhero zoom, zoom!
She tries to get him to stop,
But all he does is grab her crop top.

She yells and threatens to tell their dad,
Knowing he's the only type to get truly mad,
But he starts messing with her newest doll,
Doing what he wants with her latest haul.

That is when he finds out about the lines,
The ones she knew would mess with their minds,
She tells him not to read out the foreign words,
But he sticks out his tongue like a stupid bird,

And reads the lines as his sister shouts out,
Putting the paper down with a cute little pout,
What they don't know dear watchers out there,
Is with just a few words, they have sealed their fate,
How will they get out of this, or is it just too late?
🎵

Kim ended his rap that he'd just created spontaneously and cleared his throat, waiting to hear Noah's response to his audition. Hopefully, he wouldn't want him to repeat it.

Because he couldn't remember what he'd just done.

Sophia cleared her throat and prepared nervously for her audition. She owned a few Goosebumps books back home, but she didn't remember owning Night of the Living Dummy. She'd only ever read a few of the books. As a muggle, reading wasn't nearly as popular for her as it was now that she was at Hogwarts.

"Hi," she said, deciding to officially introduce herself for the audition, "I'm Sophia. I'm auditioning for the role of Dorothy, but a part as an extra is totally fine too!"

She tried to remember the brief synopsis from the flier that Noah had posted. He wanted a monologue, so was she just supposed to deliver a Shakespearean soliloquy? She could try that, but without the actual script she'd probably botch it. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

"Who would have thought that a dummy could cause so much trouble?" she began, in character. She paused and continued, "At first, it was just a normal night. I was playing around with my new dummy when my brother, Gary, started pestering me."

She began to pace heatedly and sighed.

"After he read those five words, it didn't seem like a big deal right away," she said in an attempt to sound wistful. She continued, more intensely, "But then strange things started happening, and I know it sounds crazy, but it was the dummy! His name is Slappy, and he's responsible for the creepy things going on around the house!"

She paused her pacing and frowned. With a frustrated grunt, she exclaimed, "I just can't prove it! No one believes Gary and me! Not even our parents! Now we have to figure out what to do about Slappy while we still can!"

Satisfied at her brief little in-character monologue, Sophia finished with a dramatic sweep of her arms. Now, she had to sing something. But what? She made her way to the piano in the room and tested a few chords. She wasn't an expert, but she could bang out a few chords to accompany her singing. She didn't know a lot of secular songs, but she did know one that her mom and dad used to sing together when she was little. She could remember her mom teaching her the chords and singing to her dad while teaching her. She smiled and tried to remember the chords.

Satisfied with the harmony at her fingertips, she sang, "

🎵They say that falling in love is wonderful
It's wonderful, so they say
And with the moon up above, it's wonderful
It's wonderful, so they tell me

I can't recall who said it
I know I've never read it
I only know they tell me that love is grand, and

The thing that's known as romance
Is wonderful, wonderful
In every way, so they say

To leave your house some morning
And without any warning
You're stopping people shouting that love is grand, and

To hold someone in your arms is wonderful, wonderful
In every way, so they say 🎵"

Sophia knew her voice was nothing special, and she knew that she didn't nail the vibrato like her mom would have, but she was proud to have gotten through the whole song without any serious mistakes. She'd performed music in front of the congregation at her church before, yes, but this was different. This was secular music. In church, she could be horrible and people would still compliment and encourage her. Here, she was either good or bad. It was as simple as that.

She muttered a 'thank you' and stepped away from the makeshift stage, just glad the part she was nervous for was all over.

Walking confidently into the audition room, Bailey was surprised by Noah’s response to seeing her. He seemed scared, still.
Noah said something like Y-yes? Do- do you have so-something- to show?"
She smiled and was about to saw something when he continued talking. He said that if she was auditioning for a role she needed to do a monologue in character. She realized, having never read the books, that she was going to have to wing it.
Deciding to just jump into it, she said “I’m auditioning for a small part… not a lot of lines and if need be I can play the piano. So…. It’s your choice. I’m open to either.
As she waiting for a response, Bailey decided to just go ahead and do a speech and then she would play a song. She has done in mind… Maybe I can sing with my song, and audio for both.
Second to play “Slappys revenge” a song she actually knew pretty well, Bailey walked over to the conveniently stationed Grand Piano. It was a really nice piano, and as Bailey adjusted the bench and sat down she felt several pairs of eyes on the back of her head.
Starting, she sang along, and it turned out great. Her ability to make her voice sound deeper and creepier, she smiled and flipped her hair over her shoulder.
Finishing, she stood up and bowed in Noah’s general direction. Asking “Was that alright?” she glanced around at the other people in the room, several of which she knew.

Furthering his involvement in Noah's Goosebumps club, Ari decided to try out for a part in a play. A play? Yes, a spooky little Goosebumps-themed play.

Ari had come to the conclusion that it was time for him to start coming out of his shell now. He couldn't hermitize himself forever, and if he wanted a chance of obtaining the recognition he wanted, then he'd have to put himself out there to be recognized in the first place.

He had made mental notes of who to try out for before visiting the rehearsal room, and had settled on none other than the creepy doll and main antagonist of the story, Slappy. Ari knew deep in his heart that he would make a great villain. And he could create some rather maniacal expressions, too. Perhaps he should dress up as the Joker for the Samhain Festival next year? That would be fun!

Someone was already on stage as he entered, so he kept quiet and approached the bottom of the stage. He could see it was Bailey Glade, a friend of his and a crucial member of this club. She was just finishing her song. Once she was done and had left the stage, he walked up slowly, making sure he wouldn't fall. He was only semi-graceful when it came to stairs.

"Hello, Noah," He said casually with a nod. "My name is Ari, and I would like to audition for the role of Slappy the dummy. If I'm not granted this role, any other important role of darkness will do just fine..."

He straightened his back, looked down at Noah, and an evil grin spread across his face, a slow, deep laugh rising from his throat. He looked really twisted. Then, he leaned forward with his hands behind his back and tilted his head to the side, his bangs falling over from gravity.

"Did ya....miss me?"He asked with a gravelly edge added to his already edgy voice, widening his eyes and keeping that freaky grin on his face. His blue eyes stood out even more boldly thanks to the eyeliner surrounding them. "Well, even if you didn't, I'm here now, and I'm never leaving!"

He sat down on the stage, dangling his legs over the edge. "My name is Slappy, and I'm about to make you an offer you can't refuse." He dragged out the last syllable with a hiss, then threw his head back and cackled like a witch. "This is gonna be so much fun!" He clapped his hands together gleefully.

Then, he flopped over onto his side, limp like a doll. His wide eyes stared dazed off straight ahead, lifeless. He was enjoying this so, so much. He had worked so hard on this. "Oh, fiddlesticks. I...can't..move! Help...a little help here.....I'M STUCK! HELP!" His expression turned to worry, fear even as he yelled. Suddenly, he jolted upright into a sitting position. "Ah! That's better! Sometimes the magic doesn't like to cooperate." His laugh was shy and sheepish. He shook his head and regained his composure, continuing what he was going to say.

"So, my offer. You give me one day to run around and do whatever the heck I wanna do. I'll grant you a wish. Whateeeeeeever your pitiful little heart wants. That sounds nice, right?" He got up to his feet, standing awkwardly with his knees facing inward. He leaned forward again, letting his hand hang by his side like a zombie, his other hand outstretched in acceptance, ready to seal a deal, that psychotic grin remaining on his face. "Whatcha say? Wanna shake on it? Actually, on second thought, let me sing a song first. Singing makes everything better!"

That concluded his character monologue. He'd made that all up by himself, and he was proud of it. Now he would start his vocal audition. He thought the way he'd tied the two together was clever, and now it was really his time to shine. Singing was his greatest gift, one his parents prided him on.

He cleared his throat and began to sing a song that he had heard over the summer on the radio his muggle friend had given to him as a birthday present, losing his creepy Slappy voice. Ari had a unique voice, deep and gritty, dark and emotional. He wasn't one to do anything very fancy or show off his skills. He wasn't the greatest by any means, but he was good enough for what he did.

"Another sun sets down behind me, another day comes crashing in. There's a whispering wind that's blowing, there's a storm that's closing in. I can hear the trains, they're rolling to a place I've never been. And I can feel the breath beside me with an empty glass of gin..." He sang quietly in his lower register, emphasizing the dark mood of the song in his voice. "As the darkness settles in, I can hear her voice again. I can hear your voice again..."

The next part was loud and powerful, an octave higher. The lyrics were still just as sad and dark, but now there was an anger behind each word. "I've waited for someone to save me, but everyone just runs away. Waited for someone to change me, but no one ever comes." He sang bitterly as he clenched his hand into a fist. "I'm breaking down the walls that cage me, but nothing ever falls in place. Waiting for the end to take me, blinded by the sun..."

His other hand shielded the imaginary sun from his eyes, then lowered sadly. His face was sorrowful, lonely, consumed by the song in every way possible. He turned his attention back to Noah and everyone else in the rehearsal room, a deep breath settling in his chest. "Uh...how was that?" He asked as he walked off the stage, taking his seat next to Bailey. Now he was shy. Had he gotten carried away? Had he done too much for his audition? He'd wait to see what Noah would say.

When @Ari Gwild finished his audition, which was amazing, he came and joined her sitting on the chairs. Bailey looked at @Noah Jupe, waiting for him to say something. He didn’t, but Ari did. Not sure if Ari had been talking to her or Noah, she said “That was amazing! Way better than my audition! I am sure you will get a part. Anyways, what part do you want? And how have you been? Oh and your eye liner looks immaculate! It makes your eyes really stand out. They are are super pretty color, and they go perfectly with your hair.”
With that, Bailey stopped herself from rambling on, and looked around. She saw a few people she recognized, including @Sophia Nelson and @Kim Sato. Both of them were people she loved spending time with, but she was too nervous to go over to them. Deciding to just stay where she was, Bailey pulled out a book and a few cookies. Munching on her cookie, she turned to Ari and asked “Do you want a cookie? I brought plenty… I made them last night.”
With those words she offered him a cookie. The cookies were oatmeal raisin, and had chocolate chunks in them. Another family recipe, Bailey made them the night before, because she had been feeling a little lonely. Being lonely was a rare thing for the friendliest person on the site, but it was true.
