Midspring Celebration

Hugh witnessed his dark and looming shadow shrinking and growing as he passed each torch. As the castle was slowly getting wrapped in shadows, the part-giant's tall figure slowly stomped towards the Great Hall's entrance. Clad in a long coat with a collar of thick fur and a broad leather belt strapped around his middle, the giant seemed more dressed for a hunt than for celebration. The fact that he had swapped his trademark sideburns for a full beard was also… noticeable. Silently, two dark green eyes would peer from under a set of thick furrowed brows, not stopping on anyone in particular.
He wasn't really sure why he decided to make an appearance. He almost felt intrusive at the event. Like this was someone else's party. There was the little voice in the back of his head that fired back with "you always think that". Grumbling as he took another deep breath, Hugh stepped forward and entered the hall. Passing by a girl dressed in blue, he never met. She likely was from one of the other schools. The direction she was walking in made him noticed two other people he did know, however. It seemed the goblin and the goof decided to team up for today. A mildly worrying thought came to mind as he thought about them dating. Somehow, he couldn't see it from Galton's side. But Serena had both the reputation (thought heavily rumoured rather than proven) and their most recent awkward interaction that made a case against her. Hugh tried his best to forget all about the Valentine event, and on top of that swore to never eat a cupcake again.
"Care to tell me what's been happening?" Hugh smiled at Serena as his shadow practically hid her in artificial night. With Lansdale involved, shenanigans couldn't be far off. And food just served as fuel to the cat-shaving bastard. Hugh's hand instinctively reached for the side of his face, fearing for how long his facial hair would survive this time around.

Chuckling at her cute curtsy, Pax returned the gesture with a slight bow. "Why thank you. And thank you for the rose too." Flattered, they twisted it a little to make it fit comfortably in their hair.
As Mandy quickly attempted to defend themseles, Pax had to hold back a laugh. They'd never seen her quite so flustered before, and it was honestly amusing. As Mandy filled her mouth with even more food, Pax finally caved and began to laugh. "I'm-I'm sorry," they managed to say. "It's-It's just you look funny right now. Kinda like a chipmunk. A cute chipmunk though."
Pax could sense the nerves from Mandy's tone, and gently gave her arm a comforting squeeze. "Don't worry, I'm sure the school won't let us get heavily injured in the games. After all, I don't think Headmaster Lear would like to receive hundreds of angry owls from parents-or worse, hundreds of howlers. Besides, what's life without a little risk?"
Pax couldn't help but chuckle a little at Adelaide's story. "Wow, your mum sounds a lot different from mine. But I do have to say, your dress is very beautiful. You- or your mother- have a very good fashion sense, it suits you really well." A compliment seemed to be the way to go with Adelaide, although Pax liked the girl, they weren't fully sure if that was reciprocated.
Grinning, they did a little spin. "Glad you like it! I think it's one of my brother's old ones actually. And it's understandable how parties aren't for everyone, they do require a lot of social energy. Balls, however, I don't much get the concept of. They sound pretty formal and tiring. A lot of business discussions, I'd suspect. Of course, that's just a guess. I've never been."
"Ah, you know me too well." Pax laughed. "Me and my partner Mandy signed up to do Flying Torch Tag. In all honesty, it does sound fun. At least, to me. Do you think you'll sign up for anything?"Action:

Nobody wishes to exist in the shadow of another. In the shadow of another man, an event, or even an establishment. It is the want of any man to be a unique and treasured facet. To be the centerpiece, the crown jewel. But when your school is essentially Hogwarts lyte, a mere shadow of the original establishment made by a historical fangirl, the journey is all the greater and all the more necessary. He never did care greatly for Hogwarts, a cliché onto itself that was foolishly emulated in the Americas. Somehow Hogwarts was the perennial center of the universe, the place that every other wizarding school was drawn to. The place where one historical event after another took place whilst the rest of the establishments and the fine wizards that they produce are forgotten.

Indeed this was a simple case of jealousy. Of entitlement. Of avarice. Ultimately of regret. Solomon Lear had been dealt with for now, he would not rise until several hours had passed and when he does, their interaction would be nothing but a smoky haze.
He would account for the chaos, Durmstrang was causing trouble already. It was no surprise really. There were some bickering couples. There were some happy groupings as well. The event was superficially a dance but in truth this was a political event. The announcement of school champions would rock the wizarding world, would redefine relationships and change policy. A victory would mean accolades for the overlooked institution he was headmaster over. An opportunity perhaps to invite the great wizarding schools to America rather than make the long journey to the United Kingdom time and time again so that the students could compare themselves to their 'friend' who was in truth their rival.Biometrics:

Another year another ball. The only reason Willow really felt like going was because Flash was in charge of it, and he was going to be her date. The last ball she attended she had gone with Astrea, but their night ended quickly once Percival had snagged her and dragged her away just to pass out and leave her hauling him to the Hospital Wing. Ah yes, balls were nights full of blissful memories.
Willow took her time getting ready, this time not bothering with makeup since it only made her uncomfortable at the Valentine's Day event. Hair was easy since she was... bald. Well, not bald. Fuzzy headed. There was something in her head that urged her to wear a dress, especially since she would be Flash's date, and it was his event. There was no pressure from him that she had to dress up, but it felt like the proper thing to do for a ball. It was also her birthday, which she really had no plans for this year. Her parents sent along some birthday treats and a couple of gifts in the form of the lovely pair of shoes that she was wearing and a new stuffed animal. Her poor bed was overflowing with stuffed animals, Button often got lost in the sea of them.
Willow knew that Flash would be monitoring the Courtyard for this part of the ball, so her time in the crowded Great Hall filled with many different cultures and ages of students fell short. Although, she admired the work put into the Great Hall she would take more time to enjoy it later. She had to find her brother first.Action || Going to the Courtyard

After he'd parted ways with Akira, for now, as he was giving him some time on his own, Hiro walked across the room towards the entrance. He didn't intend on leaving the celebration but being in a ripped dress and heels (thankfully not the spider-thin ones), was not on the menu for the entire night. Were it not for Winnie, he wouldn't have even come like this. She'd said the small hall was where she'd stashed his clothes. Hopefully he'd heard right.
As he tried to move through the crowds, he had pass by the other food tables (as he'd just come from the potluck table), and tried to do so as gracefully as possible for someone who was clutching the sliced through strap of his dress to his shoulder. It was then that someone bumped into him from behind, which in turn made him stumble forward a few steps into someone else. Hiro usually had great balance, attributing this to being a Quidditch player.
But since he was now wearing unfamiliar heels and in a ripped dress, he wasn't at his best.
"Sorry about that." Hiro apologized to whoever it was in front of him.
She was a girl in a light pastel blue dress with flower embroidery on it. The girl was around 1 inch shorter than him with long blond hair that looked as if it had been taken care of really well. That was what stood out to him, as Hiro was obsessed with hair and styling it. "Wow, I love your hair. It looks so silky and smooth! How do you care for it?" Hiro asked, saying the first thing that came to his mind as he always tended to do. It was just how he was.
That was when he realized she wasn't alone. It seemed as if she'd been talking to someone else, maybe they had come there together in the first place? Hiro smiled at them.
They were in a black suit jacket with a white shirt beneath and had purple hair, which was awesome. He loved it when people dyed their hair, it made him think that there were endless possibilities in their future. Ah, right. Introductions. "Hiro Bakugo. Mahoutokoro student. Nice to meet you guys!" Hiro said as he inclined his head towards both of them. He always liked meeting new people, although it tended to distract him from his current goal.
Indeed, he seemed to have forgotten about his current predicament.

"Does it really matter at this point?" He asked rhetorically. He never broke things off with her, he just failed to act in good faith as a partner towards her, for the sake of these very ends. To incite her pterodactyl-like wrath. To make a scene, to be for certain not his 'special person'. Another victim of his ambition, but that was a stranger to harming others. He was harming her now willingly, but some forms of harm were more acceptable than others. The truth of the matter was, he was quite fond of her. He would probably mourn her if she died for at least a little while. He let Hiro and Winnie accomplish their exchange. Let Levi take his moment to paint himself the victim in a lie he helped perpetuate. It was a waste of his breath and effort to explain, he would just add another lie to the list. He would manipulate and sabotage, meddle and break those around him.
"... Tell me you didn't put your name into the goblet, Matt."
"I am going to be Mahoutokoro's pure-blooded champion," he claimed with a cold confidence one would use to state a simple, well-known fact like two and two is four. It was one of those things he knew, he was in the business of 'knowing'. "I just have to wait for the announcement, for the names to be set in stone... then I can get on with my damn day," which was already ruined much like varied other aspects of his life. He let out a disgruntled sigh, this was going to be a long night if it was going to be spent getting yelled at.
Well, the night could get worse it would seem. Winnie decided to give Levi a kiss on the cheek. When it happened, his face dropped, paled even. It felt like he was punched in the gut by Jack Warren again. In fact, that might have been preferable. A deep breath, a resentment that was always simmering but threatened to boil over. Mathias was a creature of exceptional control with the heart and mind of a teen. He was selfish, childish, and angry. In truth he deserved it, he was an asshole and she was showing him clearly that she moved on. That this was the termination of whatever it was that they had. That she preferred young Bonaparte.
"I guess we are done here," he announced in barely more than a whisper. "I'll be back for my announcement," his voice wavered but his face did not betray his sentiment. There was no hint of amusement. "Have a better dance," he concluded and shuffled off. If someone tried to stop him, he would not yield to a request. He would brush off a gentle attempt to hold his arm, slow his departure. He knew that whatever there was between them would be as fleeting as whatever that was between Levi and Nikita, an arm piece, but that was not the point. The point was - Fuck, the point did not matter. If someone tried to delay his departure, he would draw his wand and he would use it. He would hurt them, break bones and show he was not nearly as fragile as his lack of brawn would suggest.

He thought he spotted a familiar redhead, but lost her in the crowd. It was just as well, she'd certainly have a date and while Cain didn't even consider asking anyone to join him here, he had enough social tact not to third-wheel his friend. It was the same reason he hadn't sought out his best friend and roommate, Draven would definitely have a date. That was when he heard a somewhat familiar accented voice. Something about bricks? When he returned his focus on the flowers he gathered, then to the banners and other cultural decorations he remembered. Of course. The visiting schools, he would certainly attend one of them. Cain peered around, turning in time for Felix to appear and sling an arm around him. The taller boy had to stoop a little to do so, but he did.
"Hello." He tilted his head slightly, he'd have been more confused by the alternate name, but this boy had decided on this moniker at that dinner and it seemed to stick for him. "You can't have them." Why else would a punk like him come up and compliment his robes? Clearly Felix wanted them. Well, Cain wasn't going to be bullied out of his clothes. "...I only just got here, so I haven't had time to be in trouble. Not that I would try to be." His flowers were tucked into his pocket, along with a magic candle he'd been handed before just for attending this event. His free hand came up to adjust his glasses, pushing them up his nose as he assessed Felix and his outfit. He liked the color scheme. "...I believe there's activities here, games. Over there." Really he was searching for any kind of conversation to use, it could come off as Cain inviting Felix to join him to check out such games and activities.

The young witch smoothed out her dress, fussing a bit over her appearance, but trying not to appear so. If she was going to be a wallflower tonight, she would at the very least look good.
Illowy's ghostly pale eyes swept around the Great Hall. People were mingling, slowing filtering in and out of the room to head towards the Courtyard; and it seemed most everyone was there with someone. She tried her best not to seem the least bit affected by the fact. She'd hold her head high as she wandered about the crowd, taking in the decorations and searching for familiar faces as though her lone state was entirely by choice. No one had to be the wiser if she didn't want them to be.
Everything, at the very least, seemed quite beautiful. Then again, these dances always were in the beginning before they eventually crumbled into fire and chaos. She hoped for once this might just be a normal dance, where she could be a normal little wallflower and just enjoy her people watching while imaging herself out and about mingling like a normal teenager.
At least that was the nice thing about being alone at parties like this; there was no one there to distract you if something kicked off.
I was told I was dangerous. When I asked why, they said, "Because you don't need anyone." That's when I smiled.

Marina ran into the ball, late as usual. Once she was there, Marina stopped to catch her breath and then went over to the table of food. Glad to see some Japanese food. Seeing all the delicious dishes made her a bit homesick. Before she left for Hogwarts Marina's mother cooked homemade Japanese food every dinner. Marina knew it would not be as good as her mother's cooking, but it would still be nice to taste some familiar flavors.
Marina grabbed a plate and piled it with food. She then found an empty table, took her plate and sat down digging into her favorite dishes while enjoying the festivities of the blossom ball. Taking a break from stuffing her face. Marina turned toward the wall where she noticed an older student alone. If there was one thing Marina hated it was seeing people alone (like her). Marina shoveled down her last few bites of food and went over to make sure the older student was okay.
Marina approached the older girl when she got closer Marina noticed a hint of sadness or was it loneliness? Behind the unfazed confident expression that the older girl had."Hi,"Marina said."Are okay? You looked a bit lonely." Marina finally added.

Interacting with: @Serena Towers, @Howard White, @Santario Martin, and @Percival Gray
It was no surprise that Serena was game. It had been expected. But the verbal confirmation of this brought a smile to Galton’s face as he chewed on one of her samosas. Speaking of the samosa, she had done an excellent job cooking them, they were much better than the normal food you could get at Hogwarts. Though that was not something he would speak out loud, for fear of offending one of the hard working house elfs that so dutifully served them fantastic food. These were just a little more fantastic.
Galton was already almost finished with his first when Serena asked him if he’s like another. He totally did. He would raise a single finger and shove what remained of the current samosa into his mouth. “Yeugh!” He would say with a stuffed mouth as he grabbed another from the box and set it onto his plate. Then, like a snake trying to unhinge its jaw to feast, he would try to swallow his mouthful of food in as few gulps as possible.
With an empty mouth he’d once again smile to both Serena and tall boy (though there were remnants of his victim still littered about his teeth). “Those are great. And no, no slugs this time… maybe jelly slugs if you’re lucky though.” He’d say, and turn his gaze to the tall boy that had been with Serena. He seemed fun, and Galton wanted to try one last time to get him to go along with the date.
Galton would wipe his free hand along his dress robes and silently extend his hand and wrap it around Howard’s hand if he allowed it. If he pulled back Galton would just shrug at him and move on. If not Galton would take the hand and turn around, moving on to the next thing, leading him behind him in tow. How could the tall boy possibly refuse such an invitation?
The night’s first activity was to select some more delicious food before moving to the game sign up. But ever the socialite, Galton spotted another face he recognized from the crowd. A fellow dueling captain and his last opponent - Santario Martin. Where last he had seen a disheveled duelist there was now a well put together person. Her transformation reminded Galton of himself a little, from normal student to dashing socialite for such an evening. Though she was with someone else it made sense to go strike up conversation.
“Hello!” He would approach the pair (Santario and Percival) with enthusiasm. “I didn’t catch you after the match, Santario. Sorry about all the wind and water, you know how duels go. But it looked like it may have helped even!” He would joke with her. The two probably didn’t know each other well enough for him to be joking and if he had known what he was ultimately joking about he probably would have held his tongue. But Galton thought of all those he’d faced in duels (win or lose) to be close friends, so the joke would be made.
While waiting to hear what the two had to say Galton would look down at his samosa plate. With one hand still clasped around Howard’s (maybe? Hopefully). He would just give it a small thrust towards the two new friends, as if to offer them each one off the plate. There would be ample more for Galton to choose from.
