The Hexwizard Tournament.

It seemed it was all any of the students were talking about. Heck, it was certainly the only thing that had been on Florian's mind since it had been announced. He was still a bit jaded after the last Hogwarts ball he had attended, which was this time last year. He had managed to enter into every single one of those competitions - only to end up not crowned the king of the ball. Worse even, two Hogwarts students had been crowned instead. Sure, it was their ball, their event, and the students that won were decidedly older than him, but to Florian, that didn't matter. What mattered was being the best of the best.

Which is why it only took him a few moments to decide weather or not he would enter into the Hexwizard Tournament. It was certainly a resounding yes. The chance to be embossed into Beauxbaton Glory and, even better, to lead them all in the charge? Now that was certainly something the young Beauxbaton boy could get behind.

Without a second thought, Florian whipped out a scrap piece of parchment from his robes, and began to scribble down his information.

Name: Florian Yves LeRoy
Year: Second
School: l'Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons
Special Person:

The last question stumped Florian for a moment. Who was his special person? And why such an... intimate phrasing? Special person seemed to insinuate something more to him, although perhaps it was because of his French musings. Still, he had to consider someone to put down.

Many of his friends from the prior year he hadn't spoken to much recently, although there was one who had stuck around and become a good friend of his, Enzo Delcroix. Sure the boy was much more introverted than Florian, and perhaps a bit sarcastic, but they both upheld high standards for themselves, and that was a huge reason that he felt the two got along.

Then there was his date to the ball, River Fayre. While she was still a first year, she seemed to exude that haughty attitude that Florian was accustomed to. Plus, she was pretty easy on the eyes. He did like her, but he wasn't sure he was really ready to call her a 'special person' just yet.

So, Enzo it was.

With that, he walked up to the Goblet, paper in hand, and tossed it in there, sealing his fate and his determination. No going back now.

He spun on the heel of his shoe, the coattails on his jacket spinning wildly along with him, and began to leave the great hall. "Let the games begin." he muttered as he haughtily strode out.

Why in the world, after her whole ordeal just ended, would she even consider putting herself in the line of fire with this tournament? The reality was that she felt the need to prove herself, but not to anyone else. She needed to prove to herself that she was still the same her. Steadfast, unshakeable, headstrong, and unmovable.

So with that, Santario pulled out a piece of parchment, quill, and her classic emerald ink from her leaf-shaped bag and started writing the required information.
Name| Santario Martin
Year| Third
School| Hogwarts
Special Person| Percival Gray
Santario did not hesitate to write Percival’s name down; she hadn’t even paused to think about it. Regardless of other people being close to her and how many of them she could have chosen, it would be Percival who was held closest to her. His face remained in her locket alongside her parents, which was now fixed. The white rose on silver was worn around her neck where it belonged.

Santario stood from the Slytherin table and slowly made her way to the famous Goblet of Fire. While at the moment, it had seemed like no big deal, as she approached the ancient artifact, anxiety started to bubble up inside of her. Intrusive thoughts, like the ones she had while under the control of the hag slugs, tried to creep in. With one last deep breath and a hard swallow trying to shove it all back inside, she raised her arm and put her name into the Goblet before swiftly making her exit. Fear would no longer control her.

Angél had fussed too much in their cabin, ensuring that her makeup had been perfect for when she threw her name into the Goblet. I mean, after all, why wouldn’t she? She was a Beauxbatons top broom racer. It only made sense that she would continue to honor her name and school by becoming a Hexwizard tournament champion!

She would don her uniform and attend her classes for the day. Perhaps her friends Maddie, Cass, Berta, and Amaury were getting sick and tired of it. There were undoubtedly a few “Then just go do it already so you can shut up about it” comments from at least one of her group. But that was Angél’s way; once she fixated on something, she wouldn’t let it go, and they all somehow still loved her for it.

Once lunchtime hit, Angél made her way into the great hall with her parchment in hand. Her long honey brown hair tumbled down her back, bouncing gently as she confidently strode up to the Goblet. Without hesitation, she tossed her parchment into the cup and turned around to gaze over the hall and the others considering adding their names.

A smile formed over her lips as she adjusted her hat before making her way past the rows of Hogwarts students. [That’s right. Take it all in, boys and girls. I will be your champion!] She thought as her smile turned more into a grin on her way out.

[font=Monotype Corsiva] Staring ahead of himself into the distance where the goblet sat, Enzo found himself contemplating his next move. Everyone had been chattering and prattling on about the prospect of this tournament non-stop, and slowly the more Enzo thought about it, the more his interest was piqued.

Enzo had slipped into the great hall at a moment when it was seemingly empty, so that if at the last moment he decided to back out, no one would mistake his change of heart for cowardice. He was no coward, but he had to admit was slightly wary of this tournament. He had not a single idea of what this challenge would bring, and could not decide whether that was something that persuaded or dissuaded him.

His parents however, would likely be horrified at just the mere thought of him getting near the goblet, but that only gave Enzo more incentive to drop his name into the beckoning blue flames that were flickering in the distance.
Enzo had no real desire for the glory of making his school proud, nor did he did not care for the attention it would bring, but it was rather his inner competitiveness and want to exceed in everything thrown in his direction, that pushed him to be standing here right now.

Enzo finally stepped forward, his intense gaze still focused on the goblet at the head of the room. As he neared it, he briefly turned back to see if anyone else was there, before pulling out the quill and small slip of parchment paper he had brought along with him.
He lifted up his quill and hesitated a moment before placing it down on the slip and writing his name. From that moment forth his decision had been made, and he was not backing out now.

As he was filling out the slip he came to the section which asked him to write down a special person. It was absolutely preposterous in the first place that it was necessary for one to have a special person for something such as a tournament, so the first person that came to his mind was obviously himself. The temptation to write down his name was quite strong, however, logically speaking he supposed that there was indeed reason that this was a requirement for entry. So with a small sigh he began to think of people other than himself who he could possibly write down.

The people who would make the most sense for Enzo to write, would either be Florian or Valentin. Enzo was not an easy person to get along with - to say the least - but these two seemed to be able to bear his antics, and somehow put up with his less than chipper attitude. So clearly, they would be the most sensible options.
However, neither of them were the names he had ended up writing down so neatly on the page.

Why he had suddenly decided to write down who he had was a mystery to all, including himself. His friends, Valentin and Florian were certainly important to him, - even though such words of admiration would never leave the confines of Enzo's thoughts - definitely more so than a boy who he had attempted to mess with a few times, but at the end of the day, the mere thought of the boy's reaction to this foolery left a pleased smirk across Enzo's face.

After all, there were no changing Enzo's ways, and he would always choose his own amusement over nearly everything else.

Enzo folded up the little slip of paper, then walked up to the goblet and dropped it in, his blue eyes watching intently as the flames rapidly consumed it. A content grin flashed across the french boy's face as he turned on his heel and began to make his way out of the great hall.

No regrets.

Felix thought it was rather funny how many people were taking this so seriously. It was almost amusing watching many people act as though they were preparing for war or something. It was all rather bizarre. Felix had heard fellow students conversing about it loudly in the common room, the hallways, during classes and breaks. Everyone was talking about it. As a muggleborn, he didn't quite understand the hype; that was, until he read up about it. It had been late, around evening time, and the buzzing of excited students in the common room was enough to drive him out into the chilly corridors and down to the library. He didn't usually take trips to read at this hour, but at this point, any talk about the goblet of fire was driving him crazy. He needed to understand exactly what it was. He didn't trust people and their capricious stories and rumours. It was all a hit and miss of what information was false and what was true. So it was now around 7:30 in the evening, and Felix was browsing the shelves in hope of coming across a book which explained, preferably in a straight-forward manner, what exactly this competition was about.

An hour and a half later, he’d left the library with possibly more questions that he’d gone in with, but he definitely now understood the excitement that circled around the idea. Although, it seemed ridiculous that he should attempt to enter. Wouldn't it be better to have older years competing? Ones with more experience in magic? In terms of age, Felix was more than capable of entering. He was a year or two older than his fellow first years, due to his nuisance of a father and other complicated family issues. Felix hadn’t been able to attend until the beginning of this year, and consequently had started later than the students of his own age group. He was already thirteen. It wasnt as though he was stupid. In fact, he was undoubtedly smart and mature for his age. Well, you had to be if you were the son of a rich businessman, was never allowed to leave the house and practically only ever had books for company. Felix knew he was smart enough to enter, no doubt about that. But was he foolish enough to participate in something so pointless and risky? No he wasn't.

Or rather, that's what he had thought an hour and ten minutes ago, before he had read all about the event. Maybe this was his precarious teenage instinct telling him to sign up, just for the jokes, just to take the risk. It was late in the evening, many people were cooped up inside their dormitories or sitting in the common room, relaxing or doing homework. Felix was strolling down the corridor, heading for the great hall. He let a wry smile creep onto his pretty visage. Well, wasnt this fun? He reached into his duffel bag and pulled out a notebook, ripping a random page from it unevenly and closing it again, shoving it into his bag. He then scrawled his name, school and year onto it. He didn't notice that the other side of the paper already had something written on it.

‘Kim Sato’

Felix had written down the boy's name earlier after finding out what his real name was. He’d previously only known him as ‘squirrel boy’ or ‘pip-squeak'; both nicknames that Felix had branded onto the boy after their first encounter. But then, he’d found out by accident what his actual name was, and had decided to write it down on a random page in a hurry, in case he forgot. Although he knew the possibility of him forgetting the boy's name was slim. The gryffindor had surprisingly left a strange impression on Felix, something even Felix’s smart mind couldn't pinpoint. Felix continued walking, staring at the small piece of paper with his name on it. All the while, the other side was unknowingly branded with the gryffindors name…

He should have looked up because he collided with someone yet again. Oh hell. People in this school really had a knack for bumping into him. Felix was about to yell or spill a large number of colourful words, but instead, he found himself surprised and lost for words as he looked down to see squirrel boy, or Kim Sato should he say. Felix’s surprised expression was probably showing far too candidly on his handsome features. He paused and resumed a bored expression, shoving the parchment into his pocket as stared down the boy. His words were harsh.

“What the fuck dude. What's your issue with crashing into me all the damn time?!”

He strode past Kim and threw his paper into the goblet.

"Ooh! A goblet of fire! How fun!"
Ever since Tiffany G. had heard of the Goblet of Fire, she couldn't get her mind off of it. She wasn't ignorant- she knew what horrors that people in the past had to face. She knew about people who were maimed and even killed by putting their name in there.
She just didn't care. Tiffany knew she was strong, Jacques knew she was strong, and that was the only motivation she needed, honestly. Even if her aunt got mad, who cared? She was sure she'd get out of there alive, and even if she didn't, at least her death would be a really cool one as opposed to a typical, everyday one. And what a fun obituary that would be!
So, she grabbed the slip and read the questions- out loud, of course. Jacques couldn't read.

"First question- my name! That shouldn't be hard. Do you want to put your name in, petit poète?"* Tiffany said, attempting to put the pencil in his hand and sighing impatiently when it fell out. "Jacques, you need to learn how to write. This isn't funny anymore. You are paresseux** and refuse to listen. How will you pay your taxes? That's right- you won't. You'll be a tax evader."
Huffing angrily, she turned back to her paper and moved on the the next question, hugging Jacques close to her.
"Next question- year. My year is first. School, the best school. Beauxbatons." She marked it off happily before her eyes slid over to the last question.
"Favourite person... what do they mean? Should I put 'Jacques'?" Tiffany asked Jacques, and scribbled it down.
Then she thought, and thought. What if stuffed animals didn't count? It had to be a person. Francis? His wife Marie? No, they were long gone...

"I'm a bit stuck," Tiffany admitted to her trusty bunny. "What should I put?" she asked before pressing his mouth to her ear. She listened intensely, as if he was speaking to her, then thrusted him away, looking extremely offended.
"What the... Jacques! You don't say that! That is very rude and not PG!"
She waggled her finger at Jacques before sighing. "You're right though. I should write that. That's a great idea, actually. Though that is not nice! You can't say that about people. And don't call me a dumb...whatever."
Stretching her legs, Tiffany scrawled down a name, double-checking to make sure it was spelt right. She then walked up to the Goblet of Fire and dropped her slip in, nearly dropping Jacques with it.
Oops! Sorry, Jacques. Though I wonder what they'd say if they found you in there."Giggling at the thought, Tiffany and Jacques left the Hall, ecstatic for the fun times that lie ahead.

This should be it. The one way ticket back to the family, where he would gain back his honour. Probably see Adeliah again after five whole years of zero contact. They were supposed to finish each other’s sentences, reflecting the warmth to one another. Saying goodbye to a best friend was the hardest thing to do. She was supposed to be here, not in that painted dull four walls where she killed the time. One question lingered on the back of his head, what would happen if they saw each other again. What would he say or do? Would she smile or frown, greet him with open arms or an outburst? It was meant to be, that was what he thought before. But years of reflection showed him the truth he tried so hard to deny. The blame was on him, he left her with the shadows. Who knew what happened when he ran like the coward that he was. Torn dresses and skins, not even the adults could determine which was which. It was an image no one wished to treasure.

A couple steps forwards in his polished organic leather shoes, with a piece of parchment crumpled in his hands. Hogwarts was not a place to take a vacation after a long day at work. If it wasn’t because of the tournament, he would never put his feet on top of this filthy ground. Too many dirty bloods and sweats dripped on the floors, the elves probably did not do a great job at cleaning as they were supposed to. He did not lie when he said the last time he visited was quite a hell period. Defeated by a couple of below ordinary Slytherins who couldn’t even handle their wands, then had to do this ‘bonding time’ that the less than pure cousin liked to call. A dumb little bug she was. She lost the plot, talked nonsense, that’s two a penny. Like a random ol’ wise man once said, every cloud has a silver lining, but nothing about talking with her does him any good other than losing brain cells every minute. He didn’t know how it is possible to spend more than one minute with that thing. The resemblance between her and Adeliah was a bit spot on sometimes, she too was the imaginative one out of the twins.

Something was a bit shady if he thought about it. A special person. What kind of question was that? The elephant in the room. A sacrificial person to feed the fire, it could be the reason why the fire always lit up. Adeliah was the first name that popped up, but he couldn’t live with the guilt to put her under the risk of dying twice. There were too many scribbles on that part alone, illustrating his thought process. He could lie, of course, but he knew it held great power, probably a lie detection and it would put him in more danger than he already was. So he wrote the name, Anastasia Prokovdine. If something bad were to happen, he could play a hero and save the day. Though the chance was slim, he knew the goblet would deem him worthy as a champion

Life continued at Hogwarts as the last time he was there visiting with two exceptions: the students could talk nothing more than the Goblet of Fire and they could talk nothing more than the upcoming Blossom Ball. It would have been the same back home in the States and he understood, but that still didn't mean he wasn't secretly glad that both would be coming up to their date of deadline.

The Goblet of Fire and the upcoming Hexwizard Tournament. It seemed grand. It felt grand. However, chances of a Second Year getting chosen for champion or team seemed highly unlikely. Still, every time he passed by the Great Hall and saw the brilliant cup, he couldn't help but feel it beckoning to him somehow.

A day before the deadline, Miles decided he would silence that call. Second Year or not, with their being no age requirement, what was to say he wasn't worthy perhaps of a chance for the Goblet to decide? He was smart, he was quick, he was well traveled, and he had as much chance as some others that he had seen place their names in as hopefuls.

Just before he went that Thursday to go work on some of his independent studies, he scripted out his entry onto some paper and dropped it into the Goblet of Fire.

The Goblet of Fire Open
There was only one topic buzzing around all of the schools crowded until the castle roof. The championship guaranteed to bring honor and fame and popularity and whatever else everyone was saying. Even just being a part of the tournament was considered legendary. Each person dropping their name in the cup was admired and looked up to. It was a source of excitement. The number of people afraid or dreading it were far outnumbered by those who were eagerly anticipating it. The smart ones were in the minority.

Katrina didn’t really remember writing down information on the slip in her hand. Her eyes looked over it almost as if seeing it for the first time. Was she really considering this? After everything? The effects of the other things that had happened to her still stuck with her now, shadowing everything she did. But there was a part of Katrina that craved it with such an intense desire. The thrill, the adrenaline… but the paranoia that came afterward… it was an internal tug of war.

This would be different. Its this huge organized event, not like something put together by a handful of students or a slightly sadistic administrator. It would be safe. It would be fun. And Katrina knew it was one of those things that she couldn’t live with herself if she made the decision not to at least attempt to participate. Besides, its not like she would be chosen anyway. She very much wouldn’t make whatever criteria needed to be chosen anyway.

Katrina mulled it over, watching a few brave souls enter themselves, clapping along with the other people present. Eventually, the sense in Katrina’s mind won over. This was ludicrous. Katrina was not going to make that choice today, she was far too sleep deprived to make a reasonable decision. She packed away the homework she’d been working on and stuffed it in her bag.

Unknown to Katrina, a small slip of paper fell to the floor as she left the Hall.

A brother of Katrina saw the paper slip. Katrina didn’t see Liam pick it up and look it over, eyes flicking to his turned sister’s head. Liam wrote down a name on the paper for ‘special person’ a line that left blank on the paper.

Name: Katrina Walker
Year: Fourth
School: Hogwarts
Special Person: Bridget Collins

He walked up to the cup, a friend spotting him and cheering. The room erupted in cheers as he went to put the slip in the goblet, Katrina saw her brother put a slip in the cup. Her heart stopped momentarily, was he really signing up for this? Their eyes met and Katrina had to turn away to keep tears from welling up in her eyes. She couldn’t protect him if he was chosen. It was too late now, the slip was gone now.
//Small clarification, Katrina’s name was entered in the cup but she believes Liam (her brother) signed himself up. She doesn’t realize he signed her up. Just wanted to say that outright in case it was confusing ^^

The Goblet of Fire Open
1 April 2022
During dinner
It was the evening of the last day before the champion for each of the six schools would be chosen in a dramatic ceremony, and Dee had yet to cast her name in as an option. Not because she had doubts, no. It had been clear to her (and anyone who knew her) from the moment that the tournament had been announced that she would enter the competition, no matter how likely it was that she'd be chosen. Honestly, she didn't even think her chances were that bad. She was a better choice than most, no doubt about it. Confident and well-known, (moderately) accomplished as her House's duelling captain, and, most importantly, not an utter idiot.

So it was hard to pinpoint why she had waited this long, until the last possible day. It wasn't uncertainty, or the fact that people might be watching. Quite the opposite, Dee enjoyed attention. And honestly, at this point, most students would have lost interest in watching every single person who decided to throw their name into the fire. There had been a lot of them, after all. She could pretend she'd been using the past two weeks to scope out the competition, except there really wasn't a point to that. The champions would be chosen by the mysterious magical workings of an old-as-the-hills goblet, and knowing your competition did you absolutely no favours.

There had been some letters from her family in the past few weeks, her grandparents sending a few words that made very clear that they expected Dealla to sign up, masquerading as encouragement, while her mother had cautioned her to be sure about this, although with a resigned cast to the words that made obvious she knew Dee was going to do it either way. No word from her father, and really, that might be the reason for her hesitation. She knew what he would have said, or at least she thought she knew, but she'd still been waiting to read it. Had wanted to sign up with her father's support.

Too late now, and she'd made a decision on that particular issue yesterday, anyway. No point in dwelling on it now.

Slipping a scrap of parchment from her bag, Dee pushed her cup and plate aside to make a bit of space for her inkwell. (Really, why were wizards still insisting on using these?) Name, School, Year, those were easy and straightforward, quickly scribbling down.

The last requirement gave her a pause, although of course, she had been thinking about it for the past two weeks. Her special person? A list of names had been considered and discarded, they were from her past and had no place in her present. What did they need to know this for, anyway? It was such an odd question for what was essentially a glorified sign-up form. She had thought about writing down her mother, but it felt like a cop-out. Everyone loved their mother. So in the end, she had settled on someone she hadn't been friends with all that long, but who was rapidly becoming more important to her with every snack and secret shared below the starry ceiling of their dorm.

Quill set aside, Dee skipped up to the Goblet, throwing in the parchment which had been folded once, slightly off-center, without a trace of self-consciousness or hesitation. She turned with a flourish, and gave a mocking bow to anyone she might catch watching. Tomorrow could now come.
