Alina took a deep breath. Here she was. At the Great Maze grounds. Huge, foreboding foliage stood before her, staring down at her and she felt herself shrink a little. 'No, I'm a Gryffindor. I'm brave!' Alina swore, and held herself taller. She looked around at the faces of her teammates, who she believed all looked as equally scared and intimated as her. She tried not to look them in the eyes, because she knew her bravery would diminish quite quickly, They had stood there for a couple minutes and after seeing group after group walk in, and hear the screams come out, she had to do everything in her power not to make her knees quake.

"Okay guys. We can do this. We have the best from every house here tonight, and if we can't win, then nobody can." Alina faked her confidence, hoping to rile up her fellow teammates. While it was true they had one from every House here. she knew that they would succeed. "The cunning Slytherin, the Knowledgeable Ravenclaw, the Dedicated Hufflpuff and the Brace Gryffindor." She stated, swallow back her fears. Their team would make it. Or they would (figuratively) die trying.

"We can do this. Let's go guys!"

Sally stepped into the maze with her teammates and for a moment was taken aback with how tall the hedges were. There were three paths they could take, and there was no perceptible difference between any of those options. Sally wondered if there were monsters in some of these paths. She shivered.

Breathing in the earthy scents of the foliage, Sally willed herself to calm down. Alina was delivering what seemed to be a pep talk, pointing out how they had a member from each house. They had all met near the notice board and decided to sign up together.

She looked at the girl Alina again. She was the one who had suggested the name of their team. Pygmy Puffs, what sort of a name was that even for a team of adventurers? She shook her head.

But here she was, and they would have to be a team and help each out through this, so she better behave.

She noticed Alina beginning to go west. She was surprised a little at her taking the lead, but then recalled that she was a Gryffindor. Sally gingerly stepped behind her, letting Alina take stock of the situation before following. "Look everywhere for anything unusual," she said.

And just because it sounded funny, she said aloud, "Go pgmy puffs!", amusement evident in her tone.

Well the time had finally come and Quinn was here with the rest of his team. He had to do everything in his power not to let his mind wonder as he stepped into the maze. Completely taken aback by the size of the hedges. Oh this will definitely be fun! He thought chuckling to himself.

He was brought back to reality once he heard Alina, presumably their team leader now give a short pep talk. This emboldened him more and caused him to want to really make sure his team won now. He would do anything in his power to make that happen.

She did have a point though they did have a person from every house. This would definitely make for an interesting time. All of a sudden he saw Sally and Alina begin to head west. Well that answers my question Quinn chuckled again following the two.

He then yelled out with sheer excitement, "Yeah go Pygmy Puffs!" Quinn then nodded to Sally's command, "Got it"

Rosemarie stared after her group of Slytherin friends as they headed towards the maze without her. They’d gone distinctly off her in the last week, ever since BlossomFest started. Despite being a Slytherin, Rosemarie couldn’t let go of her girlie side. She liked pink, she liked cute things, she liked flowers. She’d tried. She’d tried really hard. She wanted to be a hard-nosed, tough girl like her friends, like a real Slytherin. Or that’s what they said anyway. Sighing, Rosemarie pocketed her wand, although it was mostly useless since she hadn’t been focusing enough on schoolwork to be able to cast anything helpful, and found her own team. It was actually quite cool, having someone from each house, and she couldn’t believe the teachers hadn’t organised the teams that way in the first place. It was good for interhouse relationships. The houses all seemed to keep themselves to themselves, especially Slytherin. No one was good enough for Slytherins except other Slytherins.

Hurrying after her team in case she got left behind, Rosemarie turned west. She added her own holler to the yells. “Pygmy Puffs, woot!”

YOU CHOOSE WEST.

The team heads west into the maze. The view of Hogwarts and Lake vanished once the entrance was out of sight. The ground became soggy at a few points in this direction for some reason but it wasn’t bad. A few birds already made nests in the newly formed hedge maze and squawked at the students trying to pass through. It remained light most of the way as the hedges were not too tall, but it was certainly shaded inside. Lumos wouldn’t be necessary to see at all. The path curved a few times but no options presented themselves beyond the current path for two more corners. Then the path split ahead where a choice had to be made. Further inspection revealed nothing more than dirt and grass. No clues about where they might find a goat or anything else for that matter. To the north, another path winded through the maze. It was hard to see where it went due to a corner only a few feet ahead. Another path shot off to the South and similarly seemed to be hard to judge. Lastly, a path diverged to the Northeast that went for a decent distance before also turning elsewhere. Where would the team head next?

Choose between North, South, or Northeast. You could also go back to the start. Remember that teams cannot split up.

Sally followed the Gryffindor girl quietly. The ground was getting wet in places and she tried her best to keep the soggy mud off her boots. Would the goat have taken this path, she wondered. There were birds here, making nests in the hedges and squacking at them. Sally giggled back at them and the nearest birds flew away at the sound. "Oops I think I scared them."

After several winding turns and just when Sally was beginning to think they might have taken the wrong path, they arrived at a jumction. They had to choose between three paths available to them and there was nothing to suggest which path would be the correct one, just like the first time.

Sally peered down the paths. Her intuition told her to take the northeast path and so she spoke up, a little timidly. "Should we go this way?" She hoped that her team members wouldn't mind. Slowly, she took a step in her chosen direction and then turned around to see if her team would follow.

She giggled along with the Ravenclaw when the birds startled at the girl’s voice. “Why are they even here? It’s kind of creepy.” Rosemarie hugged herself. “And cold. Which way now?” She stopped at the convergence point of three different paths.

“It’s a shame we’re too young to know that point-me-north spell.” Rosemarie said. “My mum told me about it. At least we’d know we’re not going in circles then.” She paused, an idea suddenly blinking into her head. “Has anyone got any string?” Rosemarie groaned. “I knew we were doing a maze challenge and I didn’t bring any string?!” She had to hope one of the others had been smarter. The Ravenclaw maybe? The Gryffindor seemed very together, maybe she had some.

Rosemarie shrugged. “I guess it doesn’t matter yet. Let’s just be sure it’s not going to lead us round in a loop back to the start.” She fiddled with the zip on her bag.

Quinn looked up at the birds that had been startled by the Ravenclaw girl, "Heh they're quite jumpy." Quinn looked the two girls that had chosen northeast and decided it was best to not split up so he followed. Happy to back up his teammates. At the mention of string Quinn remembered a story he read, well his dad called it an Epic.

He distinctly remembered there was one portion where a man entered an underground labyrinth with a ball of red string he was given. As the man went he had unfurled the ball so as to know if he was going in circles, and to know the way back to the start. He had remembered that tale another time right before.

He was glad he did because the time he remembered it again was when he first saw the posting for the great maze and that sparked the memory. For once Quinn was happy about his curiosity and passion for book reading. Rummaging into his pack, Quinn was happy that he didn't forget to bring a small ball of yellow string. "Hey Rosemarie is this what you needed?" The boy asked walking up behind the two girls, "I wasn't sure if we might need this at first but I am happy that I decided to bring it just in case. Can't believe I didn't think to take this out sooner." The boy rambled a bit chuckling but kept a cheerful smile plastered on his freckled fair skin face.[/color]

YOU CHOOSE NORTHEAST

The sounds of students playing on the grounds fade more and more as your team ventures deeper into the maze. It is getting tougher to remember where one has been but somehow you seem to be making progress. You come to another intersection with a few choices in direction. Turn around, go left, or go straight. Suddenly the sound of a goat screaming could be heard. Was that close? It was hard to tell but this was the first sign of a goat in the maze so far. No tracks or signs existed and it would be impossible to judge the direction to go based on the scream. Birds were disturbed by the scream all over the maze so the sound of flapping wings filled the air. The grass was taller here as well which helped hide potential tracks if any even existed. Any brave enough to search would find nothing but false hope in the grass. Though there was nothing dangerous to be found. Nothing yet, that is. Who knows what waits around the next corner? Your team must make a choice.

You must choose East, North, or return to entrance now. Teams cannot split up.
