January 3rd, 2022 — the tail end of winter break

It was rather late, almost sunset. The air was chilly, every exhale turning into a puff of mist as it left their mouth. Nyx Eros was wearing a thick, purple, winter cloak and huge winter boots. Their hair was shoulder length and thick to protect their ears from the cold. They didn't want to wear a hat or something of the like, so this was the simple solution. Standing with them in a small circle was their mother, Pasiphaë, dressed similarly, her long, auburn hair up in a high bun, and her sisters, Psyche and Circe, wearing matching yellow cloaks. Psyche had thin, black hair which was in a simple ponytail, while Circe's curly, auburn hair was let lose.

The family was talking together, voices casual and clear, with the exception of Psyche who was rather shy. After a moment, they seemed to come to a conclusion to their discussion. Nyx Eros' mother handed them a small bag of Galleons and Sickles and gave them a warm hug. They hugged their mother back, taking the bag with a grateful smile and bright "Thanks mum!". Then, they crouched down a bit to hug their younger siblings and skipped into the store, swinging the bag.

They looked around, eyes bright and excited, curious. There were so very many wonderful creatures inside, from owls to cats to lizards and toads and more. Nyx Eros spent probably 30 minutes just looking around, observing the creatures curiously, waving to them, perhaps petting a few. They were quite adorable! Eventually, they got to where the felines were.

They looked around and their eyes locked on a small kitten with bright, pale blue eyes and beautiful black fur. It was playing around with a small ball. It was adorable. Nyx Eros saw this kitten and fell in love instantly. They walked up to it and reached out a hand towards it. The kitten, noticing them, ran over and sniffed their hand before nudging it.

Nyx Eros laughed softly and pet between the kittens ears. "Hello, you are quite adorable. May I pick you up?"

They gently went to pick the kitten up and, when it did not resist, they held it in their arms like a small, fluffy baby. They went over to where the shop keepers, a kind, elderly couple, were and purshed the little darling with a smile as well as all the bits and bobs and things the kitten might want or need. At least, the ones Nyx Eros could afford.

And, very soon after, their family arrived at the store to pick them up so they could return home. As they were leaving the store, Psyche tugged on Nyx Eros' cloak and asked softly, "What are you naming her?"
