Mildred had never been to the Scottish Highlands before. She had never been to the whole of England before, to be exact. The view was breathtaking. There were mountains and hills covered in multiple trees, too many to count. Resting on top of a mountain was the great castle itself, Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the eye-catcher in the great scenery. And although it was quite rainy, the air was clear. Clearer than the polluted air of New York.

The Mistress' Mercy arrived with an extravagant firework show after capsizing--and possibly drowning--several Durmstrang students rowing towards the shore. Honestly, what was the point of drowning the poor students? They weren't worth it anyway.

Mildred rowed to shore, still gazing at the view of the highlands. Gram and Gramps would've loved this, she thought, slowly catching a case of homesickness. She had to deal with it however because it was the only thing that was keeping her from thinking about her wet uniform and tired arms.

As she got closer to the shore, panting as she did, she spotted a group of students who oddly looked like they were in a fight. One of the students was emerging from the great lake, his hand in a fist. He was very gangly, almost stick-like. Almost like a gangly, bad-tempered person she knew. . .

"GRAYSON!" Mildred yelled as she started rowing towards the shore with all her might. She hopped off the boat and ran towards the shore "GRAYSON! What the absolute hell is wrong with you? You haven't even stepped foot in the castle and you're already fighting?" She bonked him hard on the head. "Do you want to drown?" She turned to the Drumstrang student whom Grayson was about to fight and forced on a smile. "I'm so, so sorry for Grayson's stupid behavior. I hope this won't happen again?"

Outfit: Navy Uniform
Akira was always careful to take note of his surroundings and assess possible threats -- it was simply what a rational and alert duelist would do -- but never in his life did he imagine that he would have to watch out for tackle-hugs coming his way. Surely, no one in their right minds would approach a cold, stoic boy like him with much affection or energy. However, only too late did he realize that he had Hiro Bakugo's arms around his slender neck and shoulders, and a -- was that a kiss? -- planted on his neck. A brief expression of shock swept across his pale features before disappearing. He felt embarrassment and anger rising to his cheeks; his hand reflexively reached for his wand, but he urged himself to remain motionless. Contained. Restrained. In control. No, it would not do to explode at Bakugo-san now for his misdemeanors; not in front of his senpai or in front of other foreign students, especially since their headmistress had reminded them to stay quiet and unthreatening.

When Bakugo-san let go, Akira turned his gaze nonchalantly to his uniform and raincoat, re-straightening his collar as if nothing had gone amiss, letting his anger subside as he adjusted his robes. Only when he had smoothed away the rage, would he look Bakugo-san in the eye, bring his face closer to the irritating boy's, eyes narrowed in threat. "What the hell was that. Let me remind you that we aren't friends," he said, almost with a snarl, like a wolf with hackles raised. "I hardly know you, and you should address me as 'Shimizu', Bakugo-san." He clearly enunciated the boy's own surname as a reminder of their preferably formal relationship.

With that, he turned back to Kohana-senpai to hear what he had to say about his fellow first-years. “Hu-huh? Oh no no. They were just very friendly,” his senpai responded, face dripping from the rain. Akira sighed. As he suspected, Kohana-senpai found his peers too 'friendly'. He didn't even have to wonder why; clearly, Shamsi and Bakugo were going around causing trouble for the upperclassmen with their misdirected energy. "Well, I would appreciate it if you would forgive them now, senpai, and I will speak to them about this later," Akira said, subtly implying that either a serious conversation or suggestion for punishment might come in due course. He knew that he shouldn't care for the fate of Shamsi and Bakugo when it came to yakuza wrath, but he stepped in nevertheless. It was nothing more than a sense of responsibility, to prevent things from going out of hand before their trip even began, he told himself. It was all for Mahoutokoro's honor, of course. Nothing else.

It was odd that Kohana-senpai would respond so emphatically to Akira's question about offending Winnie, but before Akira could respond, a foreign boy slammed into his senpai, clutching an instrument to his chest, curly hair dripping, apologizing profusely. Akira almost swore. Why was everyone trying to irritate Kohana-senpai today? Were they all just looking to die? "And you... Are... you okay?" Kohana-senpai asked the boy, glaring as his eyes combed the boy up and down, apparently sizing him up for a fight. His question implied that he thought the boy mad, or stupid, and certainly not okay in the head. The older boy wore a frightening smile that almost made the hair stand up on Akira's neck.

This Ilvermorny boy was going to be torn into pieces, and he seemed to know it. No wonder he was jabbering uselessly about Mahoutokoro's robes. It was a silent plea for help and a desperate attempt to divert attention, a hint that Bakugo-san seemed to completely disregard as he asked about their school colors. As if this terrified boy would care.

Akira's hand slipped closer to his wand, which was holstered inside his robes. He didn't want to draw his wand if he could settle this in a civilized manner with words and logic: palliate Kohana-senpai verbally, then swiftly remove the Ilvermorny boy from the situation. If anything, Akira didn't want to be the first-year who drew his wand against an upperclassman, although he knew he had enough confidence in his skills to do so if he must.

"What is going on, so soon after getting here?" The familiar voice came as a relief to Akira. "Hitoshi-senpai!" They were saved. His resourceful senpai was not only a skilled duelist, but a rational mind who could see through any situation quickly. "You came just in time. Shamsi was infringing on Kohana-senpai's personal space, and I think we need to remove the Ilvermorny boy from the situation before it escalates," he explained, keeping a careful eye on Kohana-senpai, in case he should snap. Likely any second now. His dark brown eyes watched his senpai intently, ready for anything.

Roleplaying as Phylicia Stanwood
@Opeila Winters [Theodore Duncain]
Theo was much more enthusiastic about all this. And, you know, good for him. Phyllis would rather be having fun, too, than feeling miserable. Obviously. But the method of travel and soggy weather just made that impossible, so here they were. Still, like he said, it was good to be back, no matter what getting here entailed. Phyllis didn't have a particular attachment to Hogwarts--it wasn't like Ilvermorny, which felt like home whenever she wasn't dying in a lecture--but it was cool. To run into new people, hang in less-familiar spaces. She hadn't quite made friends with kids at other schools, since she wasn't sure how she'd maintain them, anyway. Phyllis just wasn't going to sit down and write letters to keep in touch or whatever, but she had bantered with some of them and she looked forward to doing more of that.

Once they were safe onshore and dry, that was. She kept glancing to see if ground was getting closer, and it was, just not quite quickly enough for her liking. It looked like there was also some sort of action going on, groups gathering and people pushing each other around, but it didn't really concern her way out here.

Theo's comment about her 'optimism' being more of a cloudy-dim side earned a snort. That amusement was quickly forgotten, though, with Theo's ask if she wanted to check, his reach for the boat's edge. "No- THEO!" Her voice came out unusually high-pitched, heart hammering with each sway of the boat. Perhaps some water sloshed up at them, but true to her observation, she couldn't really tell, and she was much more concerned with the possibility of plunging in completely.

Her attention had been fixed on the waves, but once her spike of panic calmed, focus snapped up to her boat partner. "I will kill you." She was fairly serious saying it (not about carrying out the literal threat, of course). "That was not funny!" Seeing his grin, though, she couldn't really keep up the annoyance. Curse her face muscles copying his. So... maybe just a little funny.

She rolled her eyes, resuming rowing like he had not just scared the crap out of her. "You are going to be flying your broom," she started slowly, after a moment. Her head tilted to the side, contemplative. "And then, maybe you won't be." That was actually a more feasible threat since it didn't involve murder and was technically perfectly excusable as blatching practice. Her head was tilted down to keep the rain out of her eyes, but there was a smile down there. Even though her pulse was still elevated, it was clear she'd already moved on from being genuinely mad at him, so long as he did not try the same thing again.

Unlike Ro, whose apology was met with a small smile, Charles ignored her, which was the final proof Cassie needed that her friend was too far gone to do anything rational now. The most she could hope for was that his rashly cast incendio would miss its soaking wet (and probably not that flammable any more) target - which it did. On the bad side, that provoked Ilvermorny Boy again, who attempted to smack Charles across the nose.

Cassie hated this. She hated it, hated it, hated it. She could do nothing here, not least because almost everyone was speaking in Russian, but also because nobody was listening to her. One of the things Cassie hated most was being ignored. If she wasn't going to do anything useful, there wasn't any point in her being here at all. Preparing herself to make her exit, Cassie looked around to see if there as anything she could do before she went inside.

There was, in fact, something.

Artemis had taken a step - well, a lot of steps - backwards. Since she looked a lot more casual than she had a few moments ago, Cassie figured she might as well carry out on her threat. She stormed over two where Artemis and another Durmstrang kid were standing, the former's arm around the latter. "C'mon, Little Miss Murder." Cassie grabbed the Durmstrang student's arm. This was the one threat she could deal with, so she was going to deal with it. "You need a foil blanket." And to get away from more possible victims. Cassie gazed around at everyone else, eyes set in a squint which showed that she was thinking. Usually she'd intervene in a fight to protect her friends, but as well as having a strong sense of loyalty she had an even stronger moral compass. Charles had, in Cassie's eyes, transitioned from victim to aggressor the moment he'd cast that Fire-Making Spell. She wouldn't help him in this attack. Farin had pushed someone else in the lake, and Ro and Blondie were glaring at each other so hard it looked like the air between them was about to split open. Artemis appeared to be the only one Cassie could extract from the situation. "For goodness' sake." And she either pulled or lead Artemis into the castle.

Archer repressed a repulsed shiver as he felt water trickle from his hair and onto his back, dripping down his spine. Out of all the things, that was the one that drove him mad?

The boy resisted the urge to try and wring out his hair again. Whatever it was in the lake, it had wrapped around his ankles and calves, leaving dark imprints on his clothing. He couldn't get the feeling out of his head. The slimy, wet, terrifying power behind that simple tug he'd felt, it replayed in his head like a broken record. He could have died.

Water rushing in his lungs. Flailing limbs held in place. Daylight fading before his eyes.

Something wrapped around his wrist. He didn't scream. He didn't scream. He didn't scream.

Archer snapped back to reality, wrenching his arm away. ThreatsMcGee's fingers were circling his wrist, and she was tugging on it like she meant business. "What is that?" he demanded, firmly pulling her hand off him. "Foil blanket? Like for potato?"

Later, Archer would have liked to chalk up following ThreatsMcGee to being cold and tired, but in reality he just wanted to get as far away from the lake as possible. It seemed to be taunting him in it's murky green glory, daring him to jump in again, the thing at the bottom calling out for a meal.

Whatever the reason, he followed Threats. Shivering, and tired, and a little more than grumpy. But he followed anyway.

Oh! The scary Mahoutokoro senior smiled at him! It was a scary smile, but El, for whatever reason knows that it was a genuine smile- or maybe he’s wrong- WELL- He’ll just have to see what’s going to happen next ..he guessed, if he enters Hogwarts with a pretty beaten-up face- then his assumption is prooooobably wrong.

But the senior question next makes this fluffy-haired boy sure that he is in fact being genuine. Are…you okay? Asked the scary Mahoutokoro senior.

“Oh! -well sort of? I had to dive into the waters trying to help some of the Durmstrang students with their luggage, I felt a little guilty after what just happened- heh-heh.” He laughed awkwardly then sniffles from the cold lake breezes, still clutching his little ukulele. See, if he is really a scary person, he wouldn’t ask El if he’s alright.

“But I’m really fine, ….just wet!” He continues, didn’t want to make anyone worried. These Mahoutokoro students do make him interested in staying a little longer, he can’t help it, he wanted to befriend everyone here if that is even possible. Especially anyone from somewhere foreign to where he was from. Then another Mahoutokoro student right beside the scary one introduces himself to El. His pink hair definitely really captivates El’s attention. He always wanted to dye his hair.

“Nice to meet you, Hiro! I really like your hair! My name is Elowen, Elowen Fernsby, but please just call me El.” Hiro seemed like a nice guy, El thought, maybe they could get along well.

"Yours looks rather interesting, do all the students wear the same colors of blue and cranberry?"

The pink-haired boy added after El's rather complimentary comment on the Mahoutokoro student's uniform. “Yea, but I think my drenched look didn’t give it much justice.” He looks at himself, with both of his hands up examining the blue and red colored robe that is now back to being drenched under the rain. He, of course, didn’t bring any raincoat or know any spell for preventing the water from hitting his body. Well, apparently he just had to deal with it until he finally get dried up inside of Hogwarts.

“What about you-“ Before he finished asking the scary one’s name, another Mahoutokoro student has appeared, uhm- well he probably always been there but the rain made El’s vision a little blurry. But this one looks rather- how should he put this- he looks mean and unfriendly. Different from the scary tall senior, his vibe is much more serious.

The serious boy seemed to be talking to another Mahoukotoro student, he could not clearly hear him due to the rain but he heard a word or two, something about removing the Ilvermorny boy before something escalate. What is escalating? What is going on? El hoped he didn’t cause any trouble for them.

“I APOLOGIZE- I didn’t mean to cause any trouble if there is one!” El said to the serious-looking boy.

There would be no chance meeting the days or hours preceding the ball it would seem as the students from the three great schools made landfall. There was no interaction of interest here, her senses remained dull and her soul empty as she backed away from the stony shore of the Great Lake.

The three schools have arrived, with a splash rather than a bang. Erin would find herself not particularly entertained, without a playmate such as McCowan there was nothing to see or do here. The squabbles of an overly dramatic youth wearing a fishbowl (Mathias Pride) and the screeching of some unfortunate bubble-gum colored girl (Winnie Harper) would not elicit enough interest to intervene or consume.

With the evening drawing late, a meal still to be had Erin would pull herself away from the scene and return to the castle. If this was the best the other schools had to offer -- some country bumpkins, some prissy French people and well, something that looks like it would be the set-up for a joke... Hogwarts had nothing to worry about if this is the best that they have to offer, if this was their initial impression.

Easy win for Hogwarts.

Remember, Hiro's hair color is pink, not the color in this picture!
Hiro is wearing the robes listed under the outfit link to the right of the time listed.
But the color of said robes are purple, rather than navy.

He came across as a happy-go-lucky kind of boy.

Exactly how he intended.

No one knew the real him and no one ever would know. Or they might look at him differently and not with the annoyance, disgust, amusement or interest that they did now.

Yes, it seemed as if Hiro was a slight masochist.

Elowen seemed like a pretty decent person! If he helped a foreign school out without being told to do so, that was the action of a kind person. Hiro liked him immediately.

He smiled at the other male. "Why thank you! I tend to change the colors every week to keep things fresh. Pink just happened to be the one I chose." The boy told Elowen and then lowered his voice, raising a hand to his lips to avoid being seen or heard by lipreaders. Not that there were any around. Or so he thought. "I had to avoid the teachers to keep them from changing my hair color back to black again." He said.

"I don't think black suits me." Hiro said with a shrug of his shoulders. And then Hadashi arrived at the scene, directing most of his attention at Aryaan, something Hiro popped into just because he was curious. But his attention returned to Elowen again when the poor boy burst out into an apology, apparently thinking whatever it was was his fault. He shook his head and went over to Elowen, reaching out to place a hand on his shoulder. "It's alright."

"It's not your fault." Hiro reassured him.

Did... did this boy just call him Hadashi? Hadashi was at 100% certainty that they were NOT on a first name basis. And he calls him by his first name? Without an honorific? And even TEASES him? Who the hell did this guy think he was?

Furthermore, Shimizu-kun mentioned Shamsi-kun violating personal space. Again. Apparently, the personal space of a 3rd year. Was it really too much to ask to be civil and well behave long enough to make a decent first impression??
And something about removing an Ilvermorny boy... Hadashi was not sure they had that kind of authority...

First thing was first to address.

"Bakugo-kun. I will say it a single time. Please refer to people with proper honorifics. I know you know better."

His eyes narrowed slightly.

"And what I do or do not do with my shoes is my business."

Then, he turned to Shamsi.

"Shamsi-kun, respect personal space. If someone does not wish to be bothered by you, do not bother them."

Finally, he addressed Shimizu.

"As far as the Ilvermorny boy, I do not think removing him ourselves is something we are able to do without consequence. This is not Mahoutokoro, and attempting to dictate our regulations to others in such a way as removal of them from us could result in some... less than savory results with other supervisors. If he continues to be a bother, I would suggest you bring it up with their class representative or supervisor."

That was as diplomatic an approach as he could bring. Why did he have to be dragged into being an order enforcer not 15 minutes after arriving?
