It was the weekend, a sunny afternoon, you could say. It was quite warm but not exactly too warm, if you know what that means. Neptune was sitting in the field, a flower field. They had just finished talking to their older brother by two years, who had just left about five minutes ago. Jasper, also a Gryffindor, had wanted to catch up with them and talk about how things were going. Neptune continued to sit in the field, occasionally playing with the beads on the shoelaces of their signature converse, representing their pride flags. They also fiddled with their many rings, necklaces, and bracelets they had on. Neptune's black baggy jeans was sprinkled with green from the grass and purple flowers they had been picking. The flowers had been used in a flower crown that was now sitting on top of Neptune's head, some of their short brown hair weaved into it. Neptune's grey shirt also had some petals on it from the crown made. A brown bag sat next to them in the grass, adorning many pins including Neptune's favorite one, a pink axolotl. Inside the bag, Neptune's sketchbook, their pencil case, paints, and their favorite markers. They pulled out their sketchbook and grabbed a pen, beginning to sketch out the scenery and people before them. Once finished, Neptune put their sketchbook back in their bag, standing up and slinging their bag over their shoulder. Beginning to walk up the hill, Neptune thought about some painting and drawing ideas for later to occupy themselves. Neptune continued walking until they ran into something, or someone.

"Oh sorry about that," Neptune said, "I wasn't paying attention. You alright?"

Vivian sighed, rubbing her eyes, her posture hunched over the table laden with many parchments and textbooks. She was awfully exhausted after completing so much of her homework and felt as if she would pass out any minute. Her head was slowly dipping and she could feel herself nodding off.

The annoying little voices in her head were back, zooming and spinning around her head, distracting her from her homework. Taunting her, teasing her, being overall very irritating. There was, however, one voice that was much louder than the others, troubling her in the worst way.
Harmonia isn't your friend. She only listened to your whole speech because she felt pity. Honestly, I don't get how anyone can stand to be around you.
Vivian felt uncertainty grow in her chest, pooling us like a giant mass, a vast empty space where her heart should be. Surely Harmonia was her friend. She told Vivian sensitive things, things you wouldn't just tell a stranger. Harmonia was her friend.

Right?

Vivian shook her head and rose from her chair, her legs squealing as it was rubbed against the floor. She carefully picked up her textbooks and placed them in her vintage leather messenger bag, folding up her parchment and placing that inside as well.

Once that was done, she left the library she set off on a brisk walk, striding all the way to the Entrance Hall. She stepped out into the warm air, a slight breeze ruffling her fluffy hair. She straightened the strap on her bag and started walking down the hill of the castle to get to the grounds.

Vivian had planned to take a walk. Get her mind off of her homework, clear her thoughts. She was not, however, planning to run into someone. Literally.

Vivian stumbled backward as she ran into a student who was carrying a sketchbook and a pencil. They seemed to be very lost in thought and hadn't realized they were heading straight for Vivian until both their foreheads collided.

"Ouch," Vivian muttered, rubbing her forehead. It didn't hurt enough to form a bruise, just enough to hurt. She looked up, curious to see who she had bumped into when she froze.

In front of her was a young girl. She looked quite like a first year, even though She was very pretty. She had soft, brown hair and vibrant indigo eyes. She had smooth tan skin and a dazzling smile.

"Oh, sorry about that," the girl said. "I wasn't paying attention. You alright?"

Vivian was wide-eyed, she didn't know what to say. Why didn't she know what to say? She always was the one who started conversations, always the one speaking rapidly, and now she had gone silent. She blinked at the girl, confused.

"Who are you?" She finally said, mustering up the courage to say something, anything. She narrowed her eyes slightly (in a non - threatening way of course,) and looked the girl up and down. She paused when she landed on her shoes. Converses. But what were those beads for?

"Why do you have beads on your shoes?" She asked, looking back up at the girl. Those eyes. Vivian gulped and continued. "They look like stripes."

Vivian, unfortunately, and fortunately, had never heard about LGBTQ+. Her parents had always encouraged, but not forced, her to find a nice man when she was older. Of course, Vivian did not, at the moment, have any plans of finding a boyfriend in the near future. She never did like boys. Fortunately, she was about to learn something that will forever change her life.

Neptune looked at the girl they had run into on accident. The girl was quite pretty, even for someone at the young age of 11. The girl had an unusual shade of a deep blue. It was such a deep blue color that it almost looked black. Even though the color was unusual and unnatural, they still though it was quite beautiful. The girl also had a few freckles sprinkled across her nose and underneath her eyes, which were a lovely dark brown color. The girl seemed to be wearing only what one could describe as a Dark Academia aesthetic. Neptune shook themselves from their thoughts about the beautiful girl in front of them, streaks of hair turning slightly pink, hearing the girl talk.

"Who are you?" The girl had questioned, squinting their eyes in a curious manner.

"I-i'm Neptune. Neptune Emory." they responded, "Who are you?"

Neptune lifted one hand up to adjust the purple flower crown on top of their head before moving the hand down to fiddle with a ring on their finger. It was just a small habit that Neptune did when they were a little nervous. It helped to calm their nerves.

But why did they feel anxious? I mean, Neptune did feel nervous every time talking to someone new, but this felt different. This wasn't they type of anxiety that they always got whenever talking to someone they didn't know. It was the type that was slightly comforting, like talking to someone you've known for awhile and feel like you can trust. It was they type that made you feel your stomach flipping, in a good way.

The sound of the girls voice had brought Neptune to look at the girl again, "Why do you have beads on your shoes? They look like stripes." The girl had said.

Neptune looked back down to their shoes before looking back at the girl, "You're right. They are supposed to look like stripes."

Neptune's hair started turning shades of yellow and green, replacing the pink. Were they really about to tell a complete stranger about their gender and sexual orientation? I mean, what was the worst thing that could happen, the girl's attitude completely changing and they got hated on? Neptune took a deep breath before speaking up again.

"They represent my gender and sexuality pride flags. The yellow, white, purple, and black one on my left foot represent the fact that I am non-binary. The pink, yellow, and blue beads on my right foot represent that I am pansexual."

Neptune hoped that the girl knew what that meant. If she didn't, hopefully she would ask. Their brown hair with yellow and green streaks got ruffled in the short breeze that past again, making them once again fix the flower crown before looking back to their shoes, nervous about what the girl would think.

Vivian blinked, patiently waiting for an answer from the pretty girl. Wait, what? As Vivian stayed silent, she took in the girl's current appearance a bit more, noticing how she was wearing a flower crown woven with beautiful purple flowers and she was wearing a bedazzling ring. She tilted her head slightly in surprise when she noticed the girl's hair turn a pretty shade of rose pink when she questioned who she was.
A metamorphmagus. How lovely. She looked nervous, so pink most likely means embarrassment or something of the sort.
The girl introduced herself as Neptune Emory. Vivian has never heard such a unique yet fitting name. It was simple yet elegant, and a name she had never heard before. It sounded gentle and calming, like a river. Neptune was the God of Water, after all.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful person," Vivian thought out loud, not realizing what she had said. "My name is Vivian. Vivian Crowell." Vivian's cheeks flushed slightly with a delicate shade of red once she realized what her previous statement was, and winced internally at it.

Neptune luckily diverted the topic to the odd yet appealing stripes on her shoes. Neptune gave Vivian an answer to her question, explaining how the stripes on one shoe explained she was non-binary and the other stripes showed how she was pansexual.

Vivian was confused. She had seen stripes like those before, with people decked out in multiple flags with similar stripes or stripes that don't look like them at all. She nodded as Neptune explained, trying to think of what it could mean. Non-binary Neptune had said, had something to do with her gender. Neptune looked like a girl at first, but the more she thought about it, the more she dropped that assumption.

On the other hand, pansexual was an entirely different thing. Sexual. Something to do with how she liked maybe? Vivian's mind was racing all over the place, picking up the puzzle pieces and trying to arrange them into a picture that made sense. The only problem is, that she didn't know what the final product would be.

Slightly ashamed of herself, Vivian looked into Neptune's eyes, her chocolate brown eyes boring into Neptune's greyish blue ones. "If you don't mind, could you, er, tell me what that means? I have an idea of it, that non-binary has something to do with gender, and pansexual has something to do with who you like, but that's all I can think of." She looked down at her black pumps, afraid that Neptune would mock her for not knowing. Vivian was used to knowing a lot for her age, so when she stumbled upon something new and shocking, it ruffled her hair in the wrong way.

Neptune couldn't believe that they were talking to on of the most gorgeous girls they had ever seen, and for some reason, Neptune felt all floaty as their hair continued to turn a pinkish color. They fiddled with their rings, waiting for responses while hearing the comment she made about their name, causing their hair to turn even more pink as well as their cheeks beginning to dust with pink.

Finally, the girl spoke introducing herself, 'My name is Vivian. Vivian Crowell.'

Neptune watched as Vivian's cheeks turned pink realizing the comment about their name. Deciding to talk once more while Vivian seemed in thought, they pushed their flower crown back into place before saying,

"Its very nice to meet you Vivian."

Neptune then pushed a strand of hair that was still quite pink behind their ear. Darn metamorphmagus abilities. Always giving away their emotions when they didn't want to advertise them.

Neptune looked up as Vivian spoke once again, coming out of her thoughts, 'If you don't mind, could you, er, tell me what that means? I have an idea of it, that non-binary has something to do with gender, and pansexual has something to do with who you like, but that's all I can think of.'

"Oh of course!' Neptune said, "I don't mind educating people about the LGBTQ community."

Neptune looked down for a moment before fiddling with their rings to try and get their train of thought. It was a little difficult gaining thoughts when a pretty girl was in front of you.

"Alright. Well, you're on the right track. I'll start with pansexual, also abbreviated to pan." Neptune lifted their right shoe with the pansexual pride beads, "Pan basically means that you are attracted to basically everyone regardless of their gender. Whether they are male, female, trans, non-binary. It doesn't matter. Now this brings us to the second topic. Non-binary." They lifted their left shoe which displayed the non-binary flag. "Being non-binary means that you don't identify with a certain gender, this being male or female. I don't identify as a female or a male, which means I'm non-binary and choose to go by they/them pronouns." They explained.

Neptune took a deep breath before looking back up at Vivian for the reaction. Most of the time, it was the face of disgust, though Neptune was used to not being accepted by people.

"Um, if you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer them. Or even if you just wanted to talk, I'd be fine with that." I Neptune pit a hand over their mouth to stop their rambling, hair continuing to turn pink.

Vivian listened intently as Neptune explained the purpose of the beads. The beads basically represented her sexuality and gender, which was a bit confusing but Vivian understood it mostly.

Pansexual apparently meant that one was attracted to basically everyone no matter the gender. Male, female, trans, (whatever that was), and non-binary. Neptune then explained that non-binary meant one does not identify as male or female, but rather a type of neutral gender.

Neptune then also said they use they/them pronouns.

In a matter of seconds, Vivian's skin flushed into a variety of different shades of red, her ears and neck heating up as her eyes widened. She had been calling Neptune a girl this entire time.

"O-oh my stars, I am extremely sorry, I assumed you were a girl at first glance, oh my stars this is horrible-" Vivian mumbled, fidgeting with her hands behind her back.

Vivian blinked nervously at Neptune, wondering what their reaction would be. Her mind drifted to what Neptune had said previously. Pansexual. They were attracted to all types of people. And then there was non-binary. Vivian couldn't help but wonder- what was she?

Vivian did never like boys. Ever. Whenever she went to school, her friends or other girls in her classroom would giggle and fawn over the popular boys. Vivian used to watch from a distance. What was so interesting about them? All they did was flex muscles and flirt with any girl they could. Vivian's interest tended to drift farther away from the boys and instead, she found herself looking at girls.

Ah, girls. They were so pretty. With their sweet voices and kind eyes and, ugh, everything about them. But Vivian always used to look away whenever she thought this. No. Why? What? You're a girl, Vivian. SHE'S a girl. You can't possibly think that's, that's allowed, can you?

Ophelia. Vivian sighed. Ophelia was like no other girl. She was daring, adventurous, brave, she was everything Vivian couldn't be. Vivian couldn't help but imagine what Ophelia would be like if she had the chance to grow up. Even prettier and more amazing, she thought.

Then came her gender. Vivian never envied anyone because of their gender. She never hated her body or the way she looked. She liked being a girl. She looked nice in the mirror.

Okay, so she knew she was female. But what about her sexuality? Maybe Neptune would know. Yes, she would ask Neptune. After all, Neptune seems to know more about this than Vivian does.

"Neptune? Could I ask you..something?" Vivian said hesitantly. "I was thinking, about who I like, and I found that I've never really liked boys. Ever. I've liked girls more than I have liked boys. So, is there, er, sexuality where one would only like girls?"

Neptune watched as Vivian took in all of the information, seeing her face flush red, realizing that they didn't use she/her pronouns, but instead using They/Them.

"O-oh my stars, I am extremely sorry, I assumed you were a girl at first glance, oh my stars this is horrible-" Vivian mumbled.

Neptune looked down at their shoes quickly responding to Vivian, "Its alright. Now you know, right? Its definitely better than not knowing. Plus, I'm actually quite used to people assuming my gender and pronouns. Sometimes it does get annoying on particularly bad days though." She said, trying to reassure Vivian as best as they could.

Neptune watched her for a while as Vivian got lost in thought not in a creepy way, of course. Vivian seemed to be thinking about something interesting, almost as if it was an internal debate. Neptune wondered what they were thinking about. Was it about school? Maybe something back at home? Perhaps processing all of the new information?

Neptune looked away as Vivian sighed, almost in a starstruck manner. Now Neptune really did wonder what was going on inside the young gir's head. Neptune pushed those thoughts aside, focusing on what they had gathered so far.

Vivian wasn't being homophobic or rude or judgy. There was nothing that even suggested that she was! If anything, Vivian seemed more curios that anything. This was a huge win in Neptune's mind. They had successfully told someone everything vital to their identity without being made fun of! Neptune then pulled themselves out of their thoughts, hearing Vivian talk again.

"Neptune? Could I ask you..something?" Vivian said hesitantly as Neptune nodded in response.

"I was thinking, about who I like, and I found that I've never really liked boys. Ever. I've liked girls more than I have liked boys. So, is there, er, sexuality where one would only like girls?"

Neptune was sort of shocked that Vivian was asking them for advice about this specific topic.

"Well... um... there are a few things actually. Most likely, from what you are saying, you could be a Lesbian, which is you only ever like girls, date girls and stuff like that. But you should be careful with labeling yourself early unless you are absolutely sure. Your feelings could change at any moment in your life and then you realize that you aren't a Lesbian but Bi, Pan, or some other sexuality." Neptune explained, pausing before continueing agian, "Actually, I did quite a bit of research before I completely labeled myself Non-Binary and Pan. I talked to my older brother and I looked quite a lot of things up online including tests. And well, here I am now!

Neptune cut themself from their talk quickly apologizing to Vivian, "Sorry, I was talking for a while there, did you catch all of that?

Vivian listened intently as Neptune went on quite a bit of what you would call a rant, pure excitement and happiness flooding their aura as they explained what sexuality Vivian might be. Lesbian, Bisexual, and Pansexual could be what she was, but as Neptune had said, she shouldn't get too ahead of herself.

Vivian made a mental note of doing a bit of research about this later. Maybe she could find something in the library? Yes, she could spend her free time there researching. The little voices in her head were alive now, buzzing with a new excitement Vivian had not felt before, or maybe it was just one she hadn't felt in a while. Hope.

You know, one of the voices piped up. You could come to Neptune if you needed help! They seem to know a bit about it. They did research, didn't they?

They're pretty too, another voice said, small and whispered in a hushed tone. Vivian's face was flooded with a deep hue of red, covering her neck and ears awkwardly as she realized she had turned red as a tomato.

Vivian looked up at Neptune and gave an embarrassed smile. "Thank you for telling me this Neptune." Vivian shifted slightly, moving her weight from one foot to the other, when she realized what time it was. She hurriedly checked her watch. It had been nearly 20 minutes.

She looked back up to Neptune. "I'm very sorry, but I have quite the amount of homework to do. Would you like to meet again someday? To..hang out?" Vivian said hesitantly. She wasn't sure how else to put it.

"If you are busy, then it's completely fine if you can't, I just..wanted to spend more time with you." Vivian muttered nervously. She mentally slapped herself. Stupid stupid! She sounded so desperate and weak. No, weak wasn't the way to put it.

Longing. She wanted to talk to Neptune again. They seemed so interesting, and they understood this "sexuality" thing better than anyone else. Scratch that, she didn't know anyone else who knew about it.

Neptune had finished their rant, watching Vivian process all of the new information. They once again, adjusted their purple flower crown on their head, before moving their hands down to fiddle with their rings and bracelets.

They watched as Vivian's expression slowly turned into one of excitement and then once again to embarrassment. And at that moment, Neptune wondered what was going on inside the gorgeous girl's head. Neptune shook aside their thoughts hearing Vivian once again speak.

"Thank you for telling me this Neptune." She said, glancing down at their watch before speaking again, "I'm very sorry, but I have quite the amount of homework to do. Would you like to meet again someday? To..hang out?"

Neptune's face slowly stretched into a smile before their hair turned pink and their cheeks dusted pink hearing Vivian's next comment, "If you are busy, then it's completely fine if you can't, I just..wanted to spend more time with you."

"O-oh!" They said, a small stutter in their voice. Neptune cleared their throat before speaking again, hair still pink, "Um... I'd love to hang out with you again. Just send me an owl with a place and time or something like that!" They spoke rambling a bit. They took a deep breath, "Let me know if you have any questions, and I guess this is where I say goodbye for now! Neptune finished their small rant, taking their flower crown off their head, tipping it in a manner of goodbye, and awaited Vivian's response.
OOC Note~ I'm so so so so sorry for a response so late. It's the end of the school year for me and I've had loads of tests and work, although It can't really be an excuse. Also, I hope your exams have gone well!

Vivian fidgeted with her fingers nervously as she awaited a reply from Neptune, noticing how they were playing with the rings and bracelets on their arms and wrists. Vivian gulped, the first thought popping into her head being that maybe Neptune didn't want to talk to her. Maybe she was reluctant to meet Vivian again. She had messed up.

That, was indeed, actually not the case. Neptune piped up again, a smile stretching across their face before they spoke again in a cheerful voice.

They informed Vivian they would not mind if Vivian wanted to meet up again, all she needed to do was owl her. At this, Vivian nearly collapsed from holding her breath. So they do want to see me again. She was utterly relieved. Vivian had feared that Neptune might even say she had no time to meet Vivian since she had more important things to do, and Vivian wasn't quite sure how she would take that.

"Alright. I hope to see you again soon Neptune," Vivian nodded lightly, smiling gently at the stunning person in front of her. A sudden thought flashed through her mind, and she wondered if it was worth it.

Really? Do you want to actually try that? You'll make a fool of yourself. Vivian internally shook her head. No. She would do it. And hey, it would give her a bit of a confidence boost.

She reached out and gently took Neptune's hand, their skin soft and cool to the touch. She bowed slightly, her eyes still on Neptune as she gave a light kiss to her hand, holding it gently. It was quick and sudden. She stood up and murmured "Au revoir.." as she turned around and walked away, not stopping until she made it to the top of the steps, reaching the huge entryway, turning back to glance at Neptune before leaving.
