A New Friend Among the Stacks
Getting dressed, Bailey realized that it was Sunday! As she slipped on her favorite white button up, some black slacks, her black dress boots and a Ravenclaw sweater, Bailey thought, Where should I go today? I don’t have any homework, but all of my friends do!To meet with @Marcel Wheatley
Deciding to decide where to go after she had had breakfast, she headed to the Great Hall. Arriving there, she spotted some chocolate cereal. This was exciting because they never had chocolate cereal! It was still pretty early, so she was lucky enough to snag a bowl of it. Also grabbing a croissant and some jam, she settled down to read her book. The book that Bailey was currently finishing was about a boy who was abandoned at birth, and was adopted by a family of dragons. A slight spin off of the muggle mythology about Romulus and Remus, it was still a good book. As Bailey finished her breakfast and her book, she got up and decided,
I am going to go to the library today. I can find some new books to read. And maybe I’ll even make a new friend!
Walking down the corridors towards the library, Bailey was excited.
When she got to the library, Bailey returned her book and headed to the shelves. While browsing, she spotted a boy, about 5 feet tall with waist black hair and dark brown eyes. He look vaguely familiar; then she realized that he was a fellow Ravenclaw. Deciding to go up to him, she walked over and said,
“Um… Hi. I saw you over here and I just wanted to say hi. My name is Bailey Glade. What is yours?”
Bailey rarely put herself out there like this, so when she did her was internally shocked with herself. As she stuck her hand out towards the boy for a hand shake, she thought, I feel like… his first instance of magic might also be related to books or a library.
Who knows why Bailey thought this; maybe it was the way he looked at the books or maybe something else, but she could tell he loved reading and learning as much as and maybe even more than she did.Word count: about 375

Marcel always tended to be an early riser. He liked to be able to get up and watch the sunrise, preferably with a nice cup of Earl Grey Tea. However, he'd have to get to the Great Hall for breakfast for that. Nonetheless, he got up around 6:45 and quietly got dressed in a slightly more casual outfit: a light blue, long-sleeved shirt, a gray sweater vest (in case he got chilly), and dark jeans. He laced up his pink converse as usual and watched the sunrise from the windows in the Ravenclaw Common Room before heading down to breakfast. After eating hashbrowns and poached eggs, he did what he always did on Sundays: he headed to the library. He didn't know what in particular he wanted to read, but he headed towards the history section. He hadn't read Hogwarts: A History yet, so maybe...
Pale, slender fingers slowly dragged along the spines of the books before finding the book he wanted, carefully pulling it from the shelf when he heard a voice next to him.
“Um… Hi. I saw you over here and I just wanted to say hi. My name is Bailey Glade. What is yours?”
He stopped, turning around. No one tended to go up to him... not that he tended to socialize that much anyway. He saw a girl that appeared to be his age and height, with dirty blonde hair, dyed purple and blue at the tips. She looked familiar... He strained to remember.
"Marcel Wheatley. Nice to meet you, Bailey..." he trailed off. "Wait a minute! You're in that club I joined! The Bookworms, right?"

As she walked up the the boy, she realized that he looked kinda familiar. Where have I see him? she wondered. Looking at him further, she realized that he was at the BookWorm meeting the other day. He was dressed smartly today, in a a light blue, long-sleeved shirt, a gray sweater vest (in case he got chilly), and dark jeans. He also had pink converses that she was a tad but jealous of. He looked really good, if she was honest and she made a mental note to tell him that.To meet with @Marcel Wheatley
As she introduced herself to him saying “Um… Hi. I saw you over here and I just wanted to say hi. My name is Bailey Glade. What is yours?” she wondered if saying this was a bit too much.
But to her relief, he answered, saying him name was Marcel Wheatley. He then mentioned seeing her at the Bookworm meeting, and she replied saying “Yes! I loved your outfit that day! And today too. Not many Ravenclaws have a great sense of fashion, but you do.
Rambling on, she said, “Did you enjoy the meeting? I’m glad we finally got to have one. I missed the first owl about it and was afraid I missed it. How have you been?”Word count: about 220:

Marcel tilted his head when Bailey complimented his fashion. "You... like my fashion sense?" He hadn't really thought about it before. He liked looking nice, of course, but it was just how he dressed. His brother always teased him for being so formal. "You're still just a kid, mate! Why do you look like you're going to Uni?" He awkwardly adjusted his sweater vest thinking about it. "Well... Thank you, Bailey. You look rather nice today, as well." He pushed up his glasses, giving a small smile. "I'm glad we were able to have a meeting, finally. I thought a book swap was an excellent idea for the first meeting. I hope that whoever got my book enjoys it. It was my favorite growing up, a comfort novel if you will. Though, most books are my comfort. Reading is a form of escapism I love to partake in-" he cut himself off suddenly. He was rambling again. He didn't like doing so, but it was a Wheatley trait: not shutting up. "Er, apologies. What brings you to the library? I assume you didn't come here to talk to me."
He tucked Hogwarts: A History under his arm, turning his full attention to Bailey. "I'm here to read some history, myself."

When Bailey complemented him on his fashion sense, he tilted his head like he was trying to figure out if she was teasing him. Then he complemented him, saying that she looked nice too. “Oh… thanks. Bailey said awkwardly. She really was the worst at receiving complements. She loved making people smile by giving them out, but receiving them… she somehow always made it awkward.Interacting with @Marcel Wheatley
As he pushed his glasses up his nose, he smiled. Just a small smile, nothing big, but it lit up his whole face.
Then Marcel began to talk. He started on the topic of the meeting of the BookWorms, and then progressed on to his favorite book, and how much he loved reading. He was rambling a little, but Bailey tended to do the same. Marcel caught himself though, and quickly changed the topic by asking why she was in the library. As she asked this, Marcel tucked Hogwarts, a History under his arm. He respectfully turned his full attention, or what Bailey assumed was his full attention to her, waiting for her to speak. “Oh… I didn’t have a lot of homework this week so since I had some free time I decided to come explore the library. I didn’t get to do so much last year. My first instance of magic was in a library…”
Realizing that she had been rambling, Bailey quit talking and looked at her boots. “What brought you here? School, I presume?” Bailey continued, looking at the book tucked under his arm.Word count: 255 ish

"Your first instance of magic had to do with a library?" His eyes lit up with interest. "And... Not really. I prefer to be in the library. It's one of my favorite places in the whole school. It's rather quiet, and there's so much knowledge in these shelves..." He smiled, taking a spare glance at the shelves. "My first instance of magic had to do with books. I mean... I bet you could tell." He laughed. "... That probably came off as narcissistic. Ahem. Apologies." Was he always this awkward? No idea. Still, he was glad he found someone with a similar first instance of magic.
He could remember the day shockingly well, for how young he was when it happened. And he was glad he could. Memories make you stronger, he had decided, and so it was nice to know where his magical roots took place. However, this wasn't about him right now. This was about Bailey.
"So, what was your first instance of magic? Did you make books float around?Transport into the world of the book you were reading? How old were you?" He rocked on his heels in excitement, eyes sparkling. "I'm sorry if I'm coming off as too excited, this is just incredibly fascinating to me!"

When Bailey mentioned her first Instance of magic relating to a library, Marcel’s eyes lit up with interest. He then said that he prefers to be in the library because it is a peaceful and quiet place. Bailey personally agreed with him, but she knew many people do not agree with that.@Marcel Wheatley
Then Marcel smiled, and glanced around at the shelves before speaking again. He mentioned that his first instance of magic had to do with books… that’s really cool!!! Bailey thought.
When he apologized for making the last bit of what he had said awkward, Bailey smiled and said Don’t apologize. I do that very often. I really should learn how to not make conversations awkward.
When Marcel next spoke, his attitude was totally changed. He fired off a bunch of questions rapid fire about her first instance of magic.
Doing her best to answer all of his questions, Bailey said oh well it was in a library. I saw the new book by my favorite author and I was just so excited! I was about to run over to get it but it just…. Flew across the room to me. It probably flew 15 to 20 feet across the library- and the library was full of people. Luckily the librarian was a squib and she told everyone that she had tripped and I had caught the book. She also explained to my family and I what had happened and what I was.
Taking a breath, Bailey decided to switch topics. what happened with the book? I mean, for your first instance of magic. Not now of course… I’ll just stop now.
Blushing, Bailey again looked at her boots; she had once again made a conversation awkward. She really needed to get better at that.Word count: 300 ish

"Fascinating, your first instance of magic. And... Well, you don't need to stop talking. I have... quite my own bouts of awkwardness." He chuckled softly, adjusting his sweater.
"My first instance of magic was in my room, actually. I loved books, all sorts of books, really, but... I found myself fascinated with Muggles children's stories. I had this large book of fairytales that was originally on my shelf, but I loved it so much that my mum moved it to the floor so I could reach it and read it better." He grinned, eager to share this story, eager to share most things about himself. "Cinderella was one of my favorite stories when I was a kid. I read it over and over. I believe I still have that castle engraved into my mind... But, anyway! I was reading, and I got to the ballroom scene. And, well, I was trying to imagine every aspect of the ballroom, what it was like and such... And to my surprise, Cinderella and her prince started to glide across the page before my eyes. Quite a spectacular scene, honestly. I was so excited."
He was rather animated when he talked, eyes lighting up, hands moving whenever something important in his story occurred. "But... Well... Yes. That's... That's my first instance of magic. Um... Apologies, I do tend to ramble on..."

@Marcel WheatleyAs Marcel said not to worry about talking too much, he adjusted his sweater. Seeing that he seemed to be nervous, she thought ohh I hope I’m not making him nervous. I hate when I feel like that.
I now have the calming presence ability if that means anything to you.
Marcel’s nervousness seemed to end when he got to talking about his first instance of magic.
he managed to animate his book!!! That is AMAZING! Bailey thought.
“That is soo cool! Have you done anything else like that?” Bailey said.
Noticing that he seemed to talk with his hands too, Bailey smiled. Not minding that he was talking a lot, when Marcel apologized for it she said “Oh no. Don’t worry about that! I did the same thing to you too so… and I thought your story was really cool! And interesting. I’ve never met anyone else who’s first instance of magic also had to do with books.”
Laughing slightly, Bailey continued I thought I was the only one. I’m glad I’m not though.”
Realizing that she hadn’t asked if he had know it was magic, she continued “Did you know it was magic? Is anyone in your family a witch or wizard? Do you have any family members who came to hogwartsWord count: 220 ish
