In the owlery early that morning, Bailey let a dozen owls with the same message tied to their ankles go. The owls were each assigned to deliver their message to one member of the Martial Artist’s club, informing them that Bailey had arranged for them to have a meeting that evening. The letter went something like this:
𝓗𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓸!
𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓼 𝓲𝓼 𝓽𝓸 𝓲𝓷𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓶 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓽𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓻𝓮 𝔀𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓫𝓮 𝓪 𝓶𝓮𝓮𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓯 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓜𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓲𝓪𝓵 𝓐𝓻𝓽𝓲𝓼𝓲𝓽’𝓼 𝓒𝓵𝓾𝓫 𝓽𝓸𝓷𝓲𝓰𝓱𝓽 𝓪𝓯𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓷𝓮𝓻 𝓲𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓬𝓵𝓪𝓼𝓼𝓻𝓸𝓸𝓶. 𝓟𝓵𝓮𝓪𝓼𝓮 𝓪𝓽𝓽𝓮𝓷𝓭 𝓲𝓯 𝓹𝓸𝓼𝓼𝓲𝓫𝓵𝓮. 𝓝𝓸 𝓡𝓢𝓥𝓟 𝓷𝓮𝓮𝓭𝓮𝓭. 𝓘𝓯 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝔀𝓸𝓾𝓵𝓭 𝓵𝓲𝓴𝓮, 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓬𝓪𝓷 𝔀𝓮𝓪𝓻 𝔂𝓸𝓾𝓻 𝓶𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓲𝓪𝓵 𝓪𝓻𝓽𝓼 𝓾𝓷𝓲𝓯𝓸𝓻𝓶. 𝓘𝓯 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓱𝓪𝓿𝓮 , 𝓰𝓮𝓪𝓻 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝔀𝓮𝓵𝓬𝓸𝓶𝓮 𝓽𝓸 𝓫𝓻𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓲𝓽.
𝓨𝓸𝓾𝓻𝓼 𝓢𝓲𝓷𝓬𝓮𝓻𝓮𝓵𝔂,

Satisfied that she had informed the members of the meeting, Bailey went throughout the rest of her day as usual.

Finishing her dinner quickly, Bailey headed back to her dormitory to put on her uniform and grab her sword. Even though the sword was plastic, she though about leaving it due to almost getting detention due to a prefect thinking it was real. If that happened again, Bailey could just explain herself like last time.

Arriving at the classroom, Bailey walked to the side and slipped off her shoes and socks, putting them in a neat pile with her bag. Since in traditional Taekwondo you do not wear shoes or socks, she decided to remove them. Walking to the middle of the room, she decided to practice her sword form until someone else showed up.
Going through the form helped calm her down, because the idea of having people who also did different forms of martial arts there, who might be higher rank was slightly intimidating. Even though she had been training for almost 8 years and was a third degree black belt, she was still nervous.

A meeting of the Martial Artist’s Club
Pull up! Higher! Wind whipped through Jorah’s hair, rippling down his Quidditch cloak as he picked up speed. An iron cannon ball flew in hot pursuit erratically behind him. Higher! Jorah angled the tip of his Sliver Arrow towards the sky, climbing at a steeper angle than he ought to. He gripped tighter to avoid slipping down his broom. A ray of sun light broke through the clouds blinding him. Dive! Jorah threw his weight away from his broom backflipping over the bludger which continued on its flight upwards and straight past him, narrowly missing the thistles of his broom. Down! Down! Jorah sped away trying to create from the ball as much distance as he could. A second bludger swirled up for the ground rocketing to meet him. Jorah didnt alter his course. Closer and closer the two flew on a direct collision course until… Left! Jorah swerved, the bludger brushing past his right shoulder. At that point, the first bludger had redirected and was already enroute to intercept. Jorah zigzagged out of the way. Right! Left! Right! One bludger was enough for him to avoid, but not two. Smack! Bludger B collided into his right shoulder blade. BANG! Bludger A followed suit seconds later careening into his left flank, sending Jorah over the edge of his broom. "Aaaaahhh!!!" Jorah held out his arms to brace his fall, his wand which was tucked on the inside of his right leather bracer, the tip pointing out, just anterior to his wrist. The green grass of the pitch below rushed up to meet him. Quickly, 60 feet became 40 feet, which became 20 feet. As fast as his tongue could move he screamed, “Arresto Momentum!!!” while flourishing his arms in the shape of an M. Jorah's head jerked forward from the abrupt deceleration as if a parachute had just been deployed. He continued his fall hitting the ground face down with a hard thud but was relatively unscathed.

He just laid there for a bit, his heart still racing from this near-death experience. Never again, I need a spotter, he thought. He rolled onto his back, spitting out what dirt and grass found their way into his mouth. Up above, the bludgers swirled off and away, but there was something else, something else in the sky. The shadow grew larger as it drew closer until Jorah could make out the wings of an owl flapping down towards the grounded Ravenclaw. The owl landed next to Jorah with a letter attached. “Hello birdie, what do we have here?” Jorah untied the letter, as he did so the owl again took flight. It was a message inviting him to a martial arts club meeting. Jorah took a deep breathe, feeling in his left flank a mild sharp sting from the last blow he received. He pondered whether or not to go. He was tired, hungry, and hurt....but he did enjoy a good beat down. Fine, I'll go. Jorah packed up his Quidditch gear into his locker and began the long walk up to the castle. He washed up, changing into blue athletic shorts and a plain white t-shirt. He went down to Great Hall for a few cookies and a glass of pumpkin juice before making his way to the classroom. He probably should have stayed in the Great Hall longer because when he arrived, it was just him and Bailey in the room. "Hi Bailey," Jorah waved at her, noticing her shoes were off. He copied her lead, removing his own footwear and putting his shoes against the wall by hers.

Interacting with @Jorah Moussa
As she was practicing her sword form, Bailey heard a “Hello Bailey,” behind her. Sheathing her sword, she turned around to she an older Ravenclaw boy putting his shoes next to hers. Vaguely remembering that his name was Jorah, she replied with a simple, “Hello Jorah! How have you been?”
Walking over so that they would be at a good distance to have a conversation, she continued. “How has Quidditch practice and school been?” Knowing that his sister was about three years younger than him, she continued by asking about her. “And how are your sister? Has she show any magical powers? If she does, will she come to Hogwarts next year?”
Pausing to let him reply, she continued after he finished talking. “So… what type of martial arts do you do? I think you told me at one point but after asking everyone, I’m pretty sure I don’t remember. Was it Taekwondo or King Fu maybe? Sorry. I feel like like I failed as a club leader by not remembering what type you train in. I know I should have made a spread sheet.”
Mental note Bailey thought Make a spread sheet for members of the PMC and MAC… and for the MAC include what type of Martial Arts they train in.

“Hello Jorah! How have you been? How has Quidditch practice and school been?”, Bailey asked. Jorah palmed his left flank wincing at the tender spot which now sported a purple bruise. “Umm, not bad, and yourself?,” he replied. Bailey went on to ask about his sister and if she was coming to Hogwarts. She was nearly eleven years old now and there was no indication that she possessed any magical abilities. At this point, she was unlikely to do so. His little sister was likely a Squib, but they didn’t say such things, she was hoping to be “special” like her father and brother, and to not be would be devastating to her. The family was holding out hope that something would change, for her sake at least, but she was running out of time. "Amelia?...yeah she’ll probably come to Hogwarts." There was an uncomfortable pause following his lie.

Bailey broke the silence inquiring about Jorah's martial arts experience. "Well, not much actually. Gris, taught me a little bit of Kung Fu in my first year. I’ve been practicing some of the basics, but I’m still a beginner." He eyed her sword. "To be honest, I'm interested in weapons combat. There isn’t, like, a martial arts with a... bat, is there?" Jorah felt silly asking her, but felt comfortable with his bat, and he was getting used to using it to get himself out of a jam.

When she asked Jorah how quidditch and school had been, he palmed his leg and flinched. Ohh… looks like he had a rough day at quidditch practice Bailey thought, feeling sorry for him. Jorah then said, “Umm, not bad, and yourself?,”
Bailey answered, “Not bad. Classes have been good and I’ve made a few new friends this year.”
When she asked about his sister and if she was coming to Hogwarts, he almost shuttered. It was clearly a sore topic. Bailey instantly regretted asking. Oh no… I really hope i didn’t offend him. “Sorry if that was insensitive…” Bailey said, sorrow written across her face. She displayed her emotions all across her face, and could be read as easily as a book.
Despite that, he continued. "Amelia?...yeah she’ll probably come to Hogwarts."
An awkward pause followed. Bailey broke the silence by inquiring about Jorah’s martial arts experience. "Well, not much actually. Gris, taught me a little bit of Kung Fu in my first year. I’ve been practicing some of the basics, but I’m still a beginner. To be honest, I'm interested in weapons combat. There isn’t, like, a martial arts with a... bat, is there?"
As he said the last bit, he eyed her sword. No, there isn’t a martial arts with a bat. Bailey said, laughing slightly. at least there is a bostaff, which is a long stick, or a bongbonge, which is a short stick. That’s really the closest you’ll get to a bat. I have my practice bongbonge in my bag, if you would like me to show you some stuff with it. I can teach you some moves, if you would like.”

"Bongbonge?, I’ve never heard of a bongbonge before. I can try that, but let’s practice with the Bo-staff first. I can be like Donatello from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!" As he said this, the show’s theme show () played in Jorah’s head while he imagined himself fighting crime as a giant turtle ninja.

Striking a fighting pose, Jorah exclaimed, “I think I’d look good in purple… I think blue is the color for you.” Jorah pointed at Bailey’s now sheathed weapon. “Since you have a sword and Leonardo fights with a sword, you could be him. I guess that makes you the leader too. All we need now is a Michelangelo and Raphael, then we’ll have the whole squad.”

Jorah relaxed from his stance. “OK, I’m going to warm up for a bit and then we can get started.” Jorah proceeded with some jumping jacks, giving Bailey the opportunity to respond to his previous comments. The movement from his jumping induced a mild stitch in Jorah’s left side from where the bludger made impact. When his warmup was complete, he began stretching. Jorah stood balancing on one leg, pulling back on his free ankle for a nice quadriceps stretch. “Hey Bailey, you wouldn’t happen to have any Bruise Removal paste, would you? I have all the ingredients; I just haven’t had time to brew them.”

When she mentions the bongbongee, Jorah paused and then said that he had never heard of that before. Bailey nodded understandingly. Jorah then continued saying that he could try, but he wanted to practice with the bostaff first. Smiling because she was pretty sure he was thinking of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, was going to at something, but the Jorah struck a move that was clearly form then, and it took all of her self control not to burst out laughing.
When he said that he thought he would look good in purple she nodded. She thought he would too. When he said that blue was her color, she blushed and smiled at him. “Aw thanks. You really think so?
He then continued, saying “Since you have a sword and Leonardo fights with a sword, you could be him. I guess that makes you the leader too. All we need now is a Michelangelo and Raphael, then we’ll have the whole squad.”
Internally laughing at being the leader, she smiled at Jorah again. It had been her dream for several years to own a Taekwondo dojo when she grew up. As Jorah relaxed from his stance, he said that he was going to warm up, and then they could work on the Bostaff. Agreeing, Bailey walked over to her gear bag and knelt down, respectfully setting her sword down and grabbing two bostaffs. Since they were in her bag they had been in folded up form, and she stood up as she unfolded them and put them back together. Walking over to Jorah as he finished his jumping jacks and began stretching, she set down the bostaffs on the ground and dropped into an almost split. Stretching to one side, she heard Jorah ask “Hey Bailey, you wouldn’t happen to have any Bruise Removal paste, would you? I have all the ingredients; I just haven’t had time to brew them.”
Saying in response, “Yea I have some in my bag, let me go get it.”
Walking over to get it from her book bag, she thought oof his practice must have been harder than I thought
As she walked back to Jorah, she said “I got a tube of bruise removal cream from the healing center the other day. I’m slightly accident prone and I ran out of my old supply so I asked for some and they gave it to me. It might have been because of the bruise that covered most of my shin from when k fell down the stairs but who knows?”
Shrugging as she handed the tube to Jorah, she dropped back down to the floor to keep stretching. As he applied the cream to a few spots and she rotated though a few stretches, she asked “So… do you have any experience in bostaff?
When he answered in the negative, she nodded.
As they both stood up, she handed him the purple bostaff. She took her blue one, and they walked to the middle of the room. As she lead him the the basic nine strikes, she smiled. She had not been able to reach anyone Taekwondo for six months since she was at school, and she had forgotten how much she loved teaching.
As she instructed Jorah to do the one-two strikes with their weapons tapping, she saw that he was smiling too. Then she moved on to teaching him the scoop block (Watch here). As they progressed, Bailey asked, “How much more would you like to learn? I don’t want to teach you too much..”

“I’ll learn”*smack*"as much”*smack*"as you can teach me”*smack,* Jorah replied as he alternated between attacks with his Bo-staff. He paused, planting the weapon on the floor upright like a flag. “There are hags out there in the Forbidden Forest. They’re working with the half-giants and Merlin knows what else. I’m glad that Headmaster Lear is back, but we’re not safe here. If we were, then why haven’t they lifted the stricter curfew? It hasn’t been this bad at Hogwarts since Voldemort and the only person that his followers feared was Harry Potter, but now he is locked up in Azkaban. Something isn’t right. This is a bad time to be opening up Hogwarts to other schools, who knows whose coming in. The last time we hosted a tournament like this, a student died.” Jorah let out an exacerbated sigh. Jorah was glad his sister wasn’t coming here next year, but there was still a chance that she could and if so, what then? He wasn’t sure he could keep her safe. Jorah was not confident in his magical abilities. This fueled his desire to prove himself in other ways. Quidditch was one way he fought to show his worth, learning martial arts was another. For the past few days, Jorah debated submitting his name into the Goblet of Fire. Win or lose, just being chosen to compete in the Hexwizard tournament would be enough to make him feel like he was worth his wand and capable of facing the dangers that lay ahead, but was it worth the risk? “So yes, I need you to teach me everything you can, because we need to be ready for a fight.” With that he picked up his Bo-staff and readied himself.

As they traded blows with their bostaff’s, Jorah was talking. He said something like “I’ll learn anything you will teach me”. He then mentioned
Hags in the forbidden forest, who were working with half giants. Saying he was gratefully that Headmaster Leer was back, Bailey agreed as she focused on making sure Jorah didn’t hit her fingers. Taking about opening the school to other schools made Bailey’s stomach feel a little funny because she knew everything was not safe again. They still hadn’t lifted the stricter Curfew, and she wasn’t entirely sure why, but she knew they weren’t safe.
As they traded blows, Bailey was thankful that Jorah came to the meeting. Even though no one else had came yet, it was good to know someone was interested in protecting the castle and everyone inside.
When Jorah told Bailey that he wanted her to teach him everything that she knew, she felt surprised. Also honored that he felt like she was the person to teach her, but she was not entirely sure that she was the right person. Vowing to herself that she would do her best, Bailey picked up her bostaff and said to Jorah “What would you like to learn first?”
He quickly responded "Attacks. Teach me how to knock someone out cold."
Bailey was slightly surprised by this, but agreed, saying “Ok. I can show you some things with the bostaff, and then k can show you some basic self defense and pressure points. Does that work?
When Jorah said yes, she set to work, showing him some blocks and disarming techniques. She tried hard not to smash his fingers or injure him, and she tried not to wince when he caught her fingers hers. He didn’t hit them often, and was always apologetic when he did.
As they moved onto self defense, Bailey told Jorah to grab her wrist as hard as he could. He did, and she did a basic maneuver and she got his hand off quickly. It was easier than she expected, and shock was all over Jorah’s face. He clearly wasn’t expecting her to be able to get his hand off of her wrist so quickly and easily.
Since he was clearly bewildered, she explained. “When you grabbed my wrist, your thumb was towards the inside. There was only one finger on that side, and four on the other. One is weaker than four, so if you fry and break out there, you will be more successful. If you can’t do it with just that hand, grab your hand that is being held, and pull it towards yourself with your other hand. Does that make sense?
Whole she waited for a response, Bailey smiled. It was really awesome that Jorah was willing to listen to her, a younger, probably less powerful, girl, and he was paying attention too! It truly made her happy to be able to teach even one person.

Jorah was surprised at how easily Bailey broke away from his grip. Sure, he had not been using is full power, but the girl was half his strength and she had managed to escape from his grasp so effortlessly. Jorah listened intently to her lesson on proper grips and how to break free from an attacker’s clutches. He nodded, “yes, that makes sense.”

Jorah looked around the classroom. Bailey and Jorah were still the only ones there. “Not much of a turn out,” he said. Everyone was likely preoccupied with the arrival of the other schools and the upcoming Blossom ball. “You know Bailey, I had considered joining the Dueling club instead of the Martial Arts club. With classes and Quidditch keeping me busy, I wouldn’t have time to do both this,” he motioned with his Bo-staff, “and Dueling. You know why I didn’t join Dueling”…he paused. “This club offering something unique. We get a taste of dueling from Defense Against the Dark Arts, but nowhere else do we learn how to defend ourselves with our hands. I think sometimes we depend on magic too much. What were to happen if your spell backfired, or you were hit with Expelliarmus and disarmed? You would have nothing left but yourself for protection. I refused to rely solely on magic for my safety. So, thank you for keeping this club going.”
