After mentioning that she was not the best singer, James encouraged her, saying “I'm sure you can sing well. It just takes a lot of practice. You'll get better. I'm sure of it" “Thanks for the encouragement!” Bailey replied. Smiling now she asked if could play a song or song. Walking over to the guitar in the corner, she picked it up and brought it to James. Handing him the guitar, she quickly said that she did not want to force him to do something that he did not want to do.
To that, James quickly said, "It's fine. It's easier for me to sing and play at the same time. So, any specific song or songs you want me to play?"
Thinking, she asked, “Do you know the song Friends by Jesse McCartney?” Assuring him that it would be fine if he didn’t know it, she then said, “It’s ok if you don’t know it. I know not to many people here in Europe have heard of him since he is an American singer/ songwriter.”
As James sat down on a stool and adjusted the redwood guitar, Bailey asked if he needed mic or anything to sing. She knew that some people preferred singing only with mics, but she doubted James was one of them. Still, it was worth asking since she had seen a set of clip on battery-powered mics in the corner with the guitar.

Bailey thanked him for the encouragement. Bailey asked for the song Friends by Jesse McCartney. Bailey told him it was okay if he didn't know the song since the writer was an American singer and songwriter. "It's alright. I know that song. I had an american friend show it to me. I've visited there quite a few times so I know a lot about their music. James smiled. It was a good song. Another one of his favorites.

James adjusted himself on the stool. Bailey asked if he needed a mic. James shook his head. He was confident in his voice. He had sang many times without a microphone. James tuned the guitar to where he needed it to be and began to strum to the song. Once he got a good way he began to sing along to the lyrics.

His voice was smooth and steady as he sang along. Once he finished he cleared his throat and looked at her with a smile. Did she like it? It had been a while since he had performed in front of anyone. James had done many performances when he visited America performing on street corners to neighborhood parks. "How was that?"

Worried James would not know the song, Bailey wracked her brain for another he might know. Maybe… I don’t know… maybe treat you better by Shawn Mendes? No… he’s from Canada. Maybe a 1D song?
Realizing that James was talking, Bailey snapped back into realty.
“ It's alright. I know that song. I had an american friend show it to me. I've visited there quite a few times so I know a lot about their music.” James said and Bailey inwardly sighed. Thank goodness he knew the song. she thought.
As James set up to play, Bailey asked if he needed a mic. He shook his head and began to play.
James’ voice wrapped around Bailey like a warm blanket. It was just so… soothing. His presence just was like a calming blanket around her, helping her to relax and put her guard down, something she rarely did. A smile spread across Bailey’s face as she watched James’ hands fly up and down the frets of the guitar. Bailey had played Friends on the piano once for transposition or site reading for her piano theory, and apparently her fingers still remembered the a basic melody. Restraining herself as James finished up, Bailey applauded him. When he asked "How was that?" she replied “That was amazing! You… that was so good! Thank you so much!

Bailey applauded once he had finished playing the music echoing for a second longer after until it eventually died out. She told him that is was amazing and thanked him. He smiled brightly. "You're welcome, Is there anything else you would like me to play. Or would you like to do a duet?" James was happy that he was able to sing for Bailey. Even more happy that she enjoyed it.

James truly did have a passion for singing and playing music. He didn't know where he got it from but he had always love playing music the most. He had even attempted to write songs of his own. However they had always failed but that was alright. If he kept trying maybe he would be able to write one.

James looked back to Bailey waiting for a response as he tried to think of some songs if she couldn't. James wondered how many songs there were that the both of them knew. Was it a lot. Maybe very few. So far there had only been two that they had both known. James' mind continue to wander.

James brought himself back to reality and adjusted the tune on the guitar looking between the guitar and Bailey. What was she thinking? James always wondered what other people were thinking. He sometimes imagined what it would be like to be able to read minds but there was always the chance he would read something he wouldn't want to see.

Song: Stitches by Shawn Mendes
"You're welcome, Is there anything else you would like me to play. Or would you like to do a duet?" James said. “Um… maybe we could do a duet? Bailey asked. Which song? WHICH ONE SHOULD I PICK!?!? Bailey’s mind screamed. should I pick an American artist, an Australian one, or one from Europe? Maybe since he knew Jesse McCartney, he will know Shawn Mendes? It’s at least worth a shot?
As she was debating internally, James tuned the guitar a little. He was clearly thinking the same thing as her, so she just went ahead a spoke.
Um… so do you know Shawn Mendes’ song “Stitches”? I know that one pretty well… Or maybe another one of his songs? If not, do you have any ideas for songs? I really can’t think of anymore now.”
Internally debating what other songs to mention, Bailey kinda zoned out again. She zoned back into reality when she heard James speaking. While he was talking, Bailey walked over to the piano again and settling down, she turned to face James again. “ya that works!” Bailey agreed. Turning back to the piano, she set her hands on the keys and waited till it was her turn to start playing.

Bailey agreed to doing a duet. James let out the sigh he was holding in. James didn't know why he felt nervous he just did. Maybe he was just worried that he wouldn't know the song Bailey chose? Maybe worried he wouldn't play right or mess up? Maybe both? He didn't know but hoped that he would know the next song.

Bailey recommended a song by the artist Shawn Mendes. For a guy James knew a lot of his songs and would listen to them quite often when he was drawing or writing. Sometimes he would just listen to him when he was in a mood.

James nodded "Yeah I know that one. I know quite a few of his songs actually. Kind of embarrassing for a guy but that's alright. Everyone's different. James shrugged his shoulder and tuned the guitar to play the song she had requested.

Bailey went and sat down at the piano resting her fingers on the keys. She had obviously zoned out a bit as there was a delay in her response. James did that quite often as well. He shook his head slightly and began to strum to start off the song. He hummed along until he got to the words and began to sing along to the song. He put emotion into his voice allowing it to quiver just a bit as if he were actually upset about something.

When she agreed to doing the duet, James let out a sigh; he must have been thinking the same thing she had been.
When James said that he knew Shawn Mende’s music, she was only a little surprised. Many people knew his music but don’t admit to it. She for one, really never told people that she listened to American musicians because she was afraid they would be insulted. As he readjusted the guitar strap, she settled down on the piano to play. As James played, she tried to add emotion to her playing. James added a quiver to his voice, and it sent a shiver down her spine. He was such a good singer! And guitar player, but she currently was facing the wrong direction to watch him play.
Hearing these familiar muggle songs made her a little homesick, but in a good way. It made her remember all of the good times having dance parties with her brothers and parents in the middle of the living room.
As they finished the song, Bailey lifted her hands of the keys, and set them softly in her lap, waiting for James to finish. As he did, she turned around and stood up from the piano bench. “That was… Amazing!” Bailey said. “You have such a good voice! Did you ever take lessons?? I mean, that’s cool if you did. You just … I’ll stop now.” Realizing that she had been rambling, she quit talking and glanced around, and then back to James.

Bailey turned and stood from the bench after James had finished the last bit of the guitar exclaiming about how the duet was amazing. He thought. Maybe she was talking about his voice? He didn't know which one. She complimented his voice telling him it was really good. James smiled and scratched the back of his neck with a face dusted pink. He wasn't used to receiving so many compliments.

She asked him if he had ever taken lessons saying it was fine if he did. She began another sentence but then said she'll just stop talking. James shook his head "No it's fine. I actually didn't take lessons. I just sing a lot. It takes a lot of practice. And when I say a lot I mean like this much." He stretched his arms out wide being dramatic a bit and laughed. He put his arms down and took the guitar strap off his body. He stood up from the stool and leaned the guitar against it.

"Anyway enough about me. Let's talk about you. And if you want to talk, just talk. I don't mind if you ramble on. It doesn't bother me. I'm more of a listener than a talker anyway. See, I'm rambling right now. Anyway you look so graceful when you play piano. Did you take lessons? Or are you self taught?
