Round 10

As explosive as the last round was, this round was more tame. Lea prevented Autumn from getting burnt and was able to fully put out the flames. Autumn attempted to hit Aida but through the fog she couldn't get her aim right and missed. Aida was determined to keep the trend with the Hufflepuffs going, but her spell didn't land. Mars must've loved living in fog because they once again made sure the duelling piste was covered in a thick fog that could only be seen through by Aida.

Time was starting to run out, but at least she hadn't been knocked out like some times before? Finding that attacking spells didn't seem to be working, Lea would switch to making sure Autumn wouldn't burn more than what had already happened. Brown eyes would watch as the fire dissipated, satisfied that at least she could do that. The fog and clouds above were still a pain, but at least no spells seemed to be directed at her and the lightning held its attack. Good- a bit of a break would hopefully help as she prepared herself for the next round.

Autumn breathed a short sigh of relief as she felt the flames rapidly spreading thorough her body extinguished magically. She turned to where the spell had came from and mumbled a small "Thank you." to Lea.

With her body feeling slightly better, Autumn's spirits lifted slightly and she pointed her wand towards Aida, the knock-back jinx on the tip of her lips. But the smoke was strong again and it was just too hard to see through it. She choked slightly on the fog and grimaced. She couldn't wait to leave and embrace the clean air. She couldn't wait to leave in general, she supposed.

Still, the hit to her ego was repaired slightly as she noticed Aida's fiery spell heading toward her and dodged. Maybe she could try to enjoy the small wins, like these. Her pride certainly needed it.

Just once more, Mars watched the stage fill with smoke. Blowing out the tip of their wand like a candle, they spun in place, basking in the quietness of the dark. Fog was nice. Fog was good.

It seemed nothing else had occured. They no longer saw the flames on the other side, but that was to be expected. It was more surprising when a duellist let themselves burn then when they put themselves out.

Mars sighed, sliding their stance open again. "Just one more," they whispered to their wand. Just one more spell.

Round 11

Things were getting good as the duel worked its way into ramping up. Lightning had struck once, releasing all its pent-up energy though it would seem that had been enough for this duel. It still had one more chance, but perhaps it had been satiated.

Autumn would turn her wand on herself, looking for some sweet relief to keep standing, and that relief would come as she was washed over in a calming lavender light. Lea would attempt to stave off the Pale mage as much as possible; unfortunately for Lea, Aida would dodge.

The lavender light might have given Autumn some relief, but the Ravenclaws had no intent to allow her to lavish in it. Mars would send a well-aimed disarm her way, and it would strike true. Autumn would find her wand sailing out of her hand, but before she even had a real chance to try and see where it landed to was forced to brace. Aida sent a brilliant blue light across the field.

Aida’s aim was also on point as her Flipendo slammed into Autumn, no doubt pushing the air out of the girl’s lungs on impact. The duel was almost done; the last round was right around the bend. “Last round. Choose wisely!” Santario called out to the duellists reminding them that this was their do-or-die moment.

Mars whispered the incantation under their breath, prayed they were aiming in the right direction, and fired. In the same breath, they saw the flash of blue come from their side--oh, so Aida had switched it up? They grinned. Very nice.

And then a second later, they watched the wand fly up above the smoke. They let out of a whoop of joy, watching as the blue light hit its target too. Any spells sent their way got lost in the midst of the smoke.

Mars spun their wand over their forefinger, biting back a smile.

"We've got this in the bag!" they whooped. In a small fit of laughter, they kissed the tip of their wand. Time to bring it home.

The hit was what they needed- and weren't getting. While she could cast Flipendo wildly into the fog as many times as she wanted, it didn't matter if her aim was off every time. Especially if the eagle's aim seemed to always hit Autumn. At this point, Lea just wanted to be standing for the end. It wouldn't be the first time, but it wasn't a common occurrence either.

Autumn sighed. Last round. "Choose wisely," the moderator had said. Autumn wasn't sure if even the wisest of choices could save her team at this point. She was clearly in worse shape than her opponents. It was decided; they weren't winning this. The pride she'd built up with every hit turned into a deep, tired resignation.

She could cast Reparifors as much as she wanted. She knew it wouldn't help. And she couldn't exactly do that either, what with her wand out of her hand and the smoke starting to waver too late. She tried to judge Aida's Flipendo, but she just felt drained. When the spell hit her, she almost shrugged at her breath leaving her lungs and the pain that follow. She couldn't bring herself to care anymore. At least, for the first time, she wasn't leaving the podium unconscious.

There was some relief to knowing it would be over soon, she supposed. She could go outside, sit down. Get a breath of fresh air. Repeatedly cast Reparifors on herself and wallow in her self-pity. Take a break from being miserable to pet her cat, if she was lucky and Smoke hadn't wandered off. Maybe punch a wall, just to spice things up a bit. Yeah. That would be nice.
