2022, Stage 2 Gryffindor vs Slytherin: Match 3

Was it just him, or was the fog wayyyy thicker than the last one they had to face? This is crap. How could he admire Evie’s [Lamik] handsome face if this fog kept getting in the way? What a shame. However, the lions didn’t seem to have much trouble seeing through this fog, from what the boy had seen in the earlier rounds. So just in case, Hanako decided to keep a cute face and stand still looking pretty once more. Hey, if Evie [Lamik]could see through the fog by whatever means, Hanako could at least let him have a good view.

And it seemed to be the correct choice seeing that he somehow managed to survive a painful flipendo from the last standing lion. Hurrah! Because Ileen had healed him once more, he felt the sudden urge to be chatty once more. Evie [Lamik] could still see them, so it's not like Hana’s giving away their position. Gosh, it felt great to be cocky again. All hail, healer Ileen. Though he’d rather die than say that verbally. “Thanks” he grumbled, knowing at least he wouldn't be able to see each other faces. As Ileen knows, it’s much easier for Hanako to be nice when he can’t see much. A paper bag for instance.

The thick smoke blocked her vision and Ileen could hardly resist the urge to wave her hand through the air to make it go away. As if that would have helped anyway…
At least this situation made it easy to decide what to do next. It was an obvious choice and something that came natural to her anyway.
At least her partner was close and last she had seen him, he had been doing okay but not… well, great. He had seemed a bit shaky on his legs and she couldn’t risk losing him. It was their only advantage!
Her chestnut wand pointed in his direction and she used her healing spell. The energy that was sent through her wand felt so right and gave her a new burst. Finally!

With a small proud smile she turned back in the direction where she guessed her opponent and not one second too early. She saw the jinx flying her way, powerful and bright, even through the thick smoke. With a quick step to the side she avoided it and squinted her eyes. Where was he? He wanted to play hide and seek, huh?

For a small second, Lydia felt a strong sense of deja vu as the duellists kept going on with their duel.

Ileen had decided to heal Hanako some more, as the boy kept looking healthier and healthier, as he tried his best to look out for any incoming spell. At the same time, Lamik opted to cast Flipendo once again, and while he clearly previously demonstrated his ability of targeting two people at the same time, this time things didn't quite work out the same way: the spread of the spell didn't work, and instead of targeting both Ileen and Hanako, his Flipendo flew only towards Hanako. However, the Slytherin boy was, once again, more than ready and easily avoided the jinx, despite the thick fog that still covered the platform.

As the spells slowed down, the fog also faded away, and the field was once again free of any lingering smoke; the stormy clouds were still relatively calm, and Lamik didn't have to face the painful lightning.

He probably needed to get real used to say thank you to Knight. Just a few rounds ago, he definitely wouldn’t mind passing out. But now he felt rather fresh, way more than fine. In fact, this growing gratefulness was making him a bit shyer around Ileen. Did he need to say thank her again? He was about to since the fog was still here to mask whatever pink shades that might tint his cheeks, but bamwhoosh another spelled whooped past him. In awe by the power of being evasive, he was momentarily distracted.

The next thing he knew, the stage cleared once more and one of his favorite Gryffindors was finally in his view, making him show a cocky grin once more. He could thank Knight later. “ Oohhhhh well~! Hello there stranger~! It’s been a while since we've seen you, where have you been~? Lovely spell throwing earlier, by the way. Of course, none of them hit. But you know~”

Not being 10 seconds away from passing out was the best feeling ever. Snarky Hana was back, baby! Of course, it was all thanks to Ileen. But he’d rather pass out than admit that right now without any fog.

It wasn’t really a choice, was it? There was no use in trying to attack Lamik who had covered the stage in thick smoke. The young girl wondered if the audience was already bored. It must be the lamest duel to watch since there was nothing to see…

However - she once more decided to follow her true calling and performed another healing spell. There were no attacks coming her way this time, but she saw another flipendo lighting through the smoke. Dang, when was that pain finally over?
Just in time to her complaints, the stage cleared and she could lay eyes on the Gryffindor once more.
She didn’t miss that Hanako didn’t look at her at all, but she felt a short boost of pride as she noticed his improved condition. Of course, he was too busy mocking Lamik.
With a slight shake of her head she took a better stand. Now, back in the open, everything was possible. This duel wasn’t decided yet.

This duel could really tip either way at this point. Lamik was doing decent damage, especially with a successful knockback jinx spread thatt sent Ileen and Hanako skidding back just a little bit. Ileen attempted to get Lamik a bit off kilter, but her wind jinx missed. Hanako had more success, making Lamik erupt into laughter as his body felt like it was being endlessly tickled. It was probably the most beautiful tickling charm in the duelling club.

Spectator Thread

Him and his big mouth. He didn’t expect Lamik to use the same spell and tactic over and over again. That didn’t help his ego when Hana himself got hit by the same flipendo once more. Perhaps it was his kind and generous nature that wanted to subtly remind the Gryffindor that there were a lot of other spells to use apart from Ventus, Flipendo and Fumos. So, he used the tickling charm. A small and cute spell firsties used.

“Hah!” Hanako watched as his ultra super powerful tickling charm instead of Ileen’s ventus got to hit the evasive lion spot on. “That-was- embarrassing” he said to himself. What on earth? He wanted to urge someone to tell him why it had to be this spell that succeeded in hitting the Gryffindor. A beautiful tickling charm indeed- but Hanako looked far from satisfied.

To his side, he couldn’t find the apathy to completely ignore Ileen any longer. She was hit- bad. She spent a good few precious rounds just to heal him. If she hadn’t, he knew he would’ve been in her current position. Or yet- worse. He couldn’t just..ignore that.

But he knew he couldn’t do anything. His ‘Im not a healer’ idea made him powerless in this situation. He attempted to focus back on the duel, but Ileen’s bad state was still in mind. She didn’t pass out yet, did she? Why did he need to be so worried?

“It's important to you and I don't give a damn! You are important to Percival and Percival is important to me. So, if you need help with something that doesn’t affect me at all, I can just do it!” Her cheeks were flushing from her emotional outburst, but she was not quite done yet

Gahhh why did he have to remember such a terrible event between him and Ileen? It was one of their obvious disagreements. She wanted to help him without expecting anything, and he was confused as to why she would. It was an odd exchange. But his mind did drift to that. Helping without expecting anything, huh? That was what she was doing when she healed him. He couldn’t guarantee a win in this duel, but she made her choice anyway.

Ignoring her right now would probably be the most asshat thing for him to do. Even with all the taunting and needless flirting with the enemies.

“Y-you” he struggled to get the words out, but he definitely looked at her this time. If she saw his face, he look rather embarrassed. “ Y- Don’t pass out, darn it!” And with that, he looked anywhere but Ileen. With each feeling of regret, his face looked even more embarrassed. He better not get hit again or this will just intensify.

She had been right. This duel was far from decided. The smoke had lifted and she had decided to attack instead of healing.
She was prepared for his attack towards her, ready on the balls of her feet and yet she wasn’t fast enough. His powerful spell, that even split to hit both of them, pushed her back over the stage. Only with a lot of effort did she manage to stay on her feet. Leaning forward with one hand on the ground, she came to a stop and looked like a sprinter in the starting position.
The pain throbbed in waves through her body and she breathed heavily. It would not take much more to eliminate her for this duel.
A glance to the side showed her that it had also caught Hanako. Fortunately, she had healed him before, otherwise he would no longer be on his feet.

But now was not the time for self-pity. It was time to try to hit him too.
She struggled back to a standing position and aimed carefully.
Although her Ventus was powerful and well aimed, the experience of the older Gryffindor allowed them to evade her attack.
However, Hanako landed an impressive hit with his curse and that gave Ileen new strength.
"I don't intend to!" She gritted her teeth and straightened up in response to his demand. "Neither do you." Her voice became a murmur. "Don't you dare leave me here alone." She hadn't enough strength left to notice Hanako's facail expressions. She needed every singlye spark of energy to remain standing.
Yes, they were both at the end of their rope. But they were also both still standing. And the Gryffindor was alone.
