It was a Sunday evening. Normally Simon took in his time for Reverence during the morning but the Hufflepuff Broom Racing Team wanted to put in an extra practice. With having won against their race against Ravenclaw, they knew that their second race could be just around the corner.
He had finished and looked around the library, wondering what to do next. He took out his notebook and leafed through its pages, finding the questions he had about dhampirs in relation to matters such as blood thrall, the unsettling aura, adult fangs, and so forth.
He went to the magical creature section and sighed, hating that this was in the magical creature section at all and gathered up some books on the topic more closely at hand and a few more that might be a bit of a stretch. As he was gathering up his resources, three different study groups seemed to filter into the Library, crowding up all the works paces available.
When he did turn around to look for a place to sit, it seemed every place was taken. This was worse than before the end of the year exams! He spotted one wooden table, large enough to seat four, that just had one girl sitting occupying it. With his stack of seven books that he carried effortlessly, he approached her. " 'Ello, do you mind if I sit with you?"

Bailey was excited. She finally had some free time, without any of her friends (and she did not have many), to spend just on her. She also had a perfect place to spend that time. Since it was winter/ early spring and the lake would be Frigid, she was going to the library! Even though it would probably be full of studying students, she was confident that if she got there at just the right time, she would have a place to sit.Responding to@ Simon Kincaid
Right after she finished her lunch, Bailey hurried down the corridors to the library. She was super eager to get there; she had so many books that she wanted to read!
When she entered the library, Bailey smiled. She had been looking forward to this moment all week.
Settling down at one of the chairs at the only empty table in the library, she opened her book. It was a new find, and she couldn’t wait to read it. But being in a library, especially one filled with fellow witches and wizards, brought back memories of when she discovered that She was a witch…Was he talking to me? Bailey though, when she realized that there was a boy right next to her. She realized that he had just asked to sit at the table with her. Slightly flustered, Bailey answered Sure.. sorry. I was lost in my own world.it was in the library of her hometown, Leeds that it happened. She got a little ( ok… a LOT) to eager to read a book her favorite author just published and it literally flew across the room to her. In a room full of muggles no less! Luckily the library assistant, Mrs. Jenny, was a squib and understood what just happened. She made everyone believe that she had tripped and thrown the book and Bailey had caught it. Mrs. Jenny then explained to….

Not so many words with @Bailey Glade
"Thanks," he said, slipping into the chair across from her. Simon watched as her gaze went back to her book and he examined her a little closely. Of course she was a Ravenclaw. He could tell by her attire. Plus, only Ravenclaws were THIS interested in books.
He decided not to interrupt her as he dragged the top book from the stack onto the table and opened it, slowly leafing throught he pages to find the right chapter that he wanted. He then leaned down to get out one of his notebooks.
No, he didn't want to disturb her so he didn't even stop to introduce himself. He wouldn't interrupt her reading and would let her carry on with her business. As he began to read through Chapter 18 of the book in front of him, he began to tap his quill along the edge of the table. It wasn't done to annoy anyone, just a habit he seemed to have when lost in thought or reading. It was to a nice melody, to the tune of 'A Long, Long Time' by Henry James, one of his favorite trumpet players.
Still, it might cause a bit of a disturbance to some. He was kicked out of the Study Rooms during his first year there at Hogwarts by some Ravenclaws.

As she returned to her book, she felt the boy looking at her. Then he turned to his books and pulled out a notebook and the book from the top of his pile, and opened them.@Simon Kincaid
Hum… I wonder what year he is? I think he was at my sorting with me, and was sorted a Hufflepuff, but I am not completely sure… I am DEFINITELY not going to ask him though. As he was leading though the book, he started tapping his quill on the table top to a familiar tune. One that Bailey knew very well, since she had performed it many times for her piano recitals and for a few competitions. “Sorry to interrupt, but… was that A Long Long Time by Henry James?
Blushing, Bailey thought furiously Why did I say anything. I am probably disturbing his study time! Ugh
“Sorry if I interrupted your studying, but I realized I never introduced myself. My name is Bailey. Bailey Glade.”
Unfolding herself slightly from the chair and shaking her hair back over her shoulder, Bailey stuck her hand out for a hand shake and Bailey continued,
“And your name is?”

Introductions with @Bailey Glade
He glanced up from the tapping, first irritated with himself that he was doing any tapping at all because he truly tried his best not to do that. It irritated others but honestly it was something he did subconsciously as music just flowed within him. "It was," he said, rather impressed though that the girl knew the song and smiled some. That gave him a clue that she might have been muggle born or halfblooded but even still, most of the muggles he knew didn't know Henry James, as he had come and gone. Still, he was a legend, and anyone that knew of him or any of his songs had to be rather amazing.
"You're not interrupting, or rather...it's welcomed, no worries," he smiled kindly to her. Simon wasn't a dedicated student and he certainly welcomed friendship over studying ANY day. He closed his book and leaned closer, bringing his hand over to her. "Nice to meet you, Bailey Glade. I'm Simon. Simon Kincaid."
He was able to get her hand just in time before she pulled it away and gave it a shake. "So Bailey Glade" he repeated her name in an attempt to remember it. It was one of the things he prided himself in was remembering people after meeting them. "What brings you to the library today?"

When Bailey correctly guessed the song, the boy answered with a simple “it was”. He seemed rather impressed that she knew the song. Bailey knew not many people knew Henry’s Jame’s music, but her dad loved his music and so she knew it too.Interacting with @Simon Kincaid
When the boy said that she was not interrupting him, Bailey sighed and sank a few inches. She really valued what others thought of her, so making a bad first impression seems so much harsher to her than others. When the boys introduced himself as Simon Kincaid and shook her hand, Bailey was grateful that he did not just leave her with her hand extended. That had happened to her before and it really sucked.
In response to Simon asking her why she was at the Library, she brushed her hair over her shoulder and said “Oh.. I had some free time so I decided to come read. K was going to walk outside, but I have already had one accident with the lake lately and I decided that going back was probably not the best idea”
Pausing, Bailey tried to decided what to say next. Should I ask why he is here or not. Probably not because he is clearly studying.
While she was internally debating this, Simon started talking again.

A welcomed interruption with @Bailey Glade
"Ah, I tend to avoid the Lake most days," he said and smiled a little. Mostly because the Lake was outdoors and well, he could only spend limited amounts of time there being a dhampir and all. Too much time outdoors made him burn quickly and it was not only painful but also a red flag about what he was. Sure, some guessed it. Sure, some knew it. Still, it wasn't something he openly just declared for all students of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to know.
He also had an interesting encounter during the Summer Camp with the Lake, but that he certainly wouldn't bring up. It was an incident involving the early morning hours and his lack of clothing and someone finding him at such a time in such a state.
"I'm just uh...." he paused. He realized his books were mainly on one subject matter and hopefully the girl wouldn't look but being a Ravenclaw, he found that very doubtful. He could lie and totally say it was for a school assignment but Simon Kincaid wasn't the lying kind. "Just looking some stuff up that I had questions about." That wasn't a lie.
He had a whole entire notebook of questions on the magical world, from everything to how the moving portraits worked, what made someone a ghost after passing, and lots and LOTS of questions about dhampirs and vampires.

@Simon KincaidWhen mentioned not want to go back to the lake, Simon mentioned not going there often. Curious, Bailey asked “Is there a story of reason why?”
Realizing that this could be personal she said “Actually… don’t worry about that if it’s too personal.”
Then she thought about asking him what he was studying for, he somehow read her mind and answered saying that he was looking up stuff he didn’t know. Noticing that most of his books were on one topic, the Magical world, she smiled and thought Looks like he is doing the same thing I did last year after discovering the library. I wonder… he he muggle born too?
Deciding to ask, Bailey said “Just a random question, but are you muggle born?
Blushing, she felt like she needed to tell him why she was asking. “I just saw that you had a bunch of books with the general topic of the Magical world. And I read a lot of them last year after coming to Hogwarts. My curiosity needed answers, you know?”
Inspecting the books further, she noticed that there was one or two that also had the topic of dhampirs and vampires, and one on magical ghosts too. Hum. she thought. Thats an odd collection of booksWord count: 225 ish

"Ah yes, you Ravenclaws and your questions. Trust me, I've gotten quite accustomed to that," he laughed. "Two of my best friends are Clair Fernandez and Samantha Salwis," he said, mentioning some other Ravenclaws. He didn't know if Bailey knew them well or not, although he hoped so. Everyone should know them. They were inquisitive like that but he loved it. Simon always seemed to get along well with Ravenclaws.
"I stay indoors mostly. The sun bothers me," he said and looked to her, going through his mind if he should mention how he was once diagnosed with xeroderma pigmentosum but no, he knew that wasn't the reason for the sun bothering him anymore. It was that he was a dhampir but it also didn't seem wise to just come out and say that either with the current state of things and how halfbreeds were being described even in the school newspaper. He'd just leave it at that.
"Kinda muggleborn. Was raised that way. My mum went here to Hogwarts. She was a Gryffindor, but we lived with my Aunt Maggie always, her sister, and she didn't want to make her jealous for not getting a letter so she didn't talk much about it. She passed away when I was three and so Aunt Maggie knew nothing of it - not even that it was a sort of hereditary thing. So this is all new to me. It's all quite brilliant. What about you? Did you know any of this before coming to Hogwarts?"

@Simon KincaidWhen Simon said that he was accustomed to the questions, due to two of his best friends being Ravenclaws, Bailey laughed a little.
She then said “We are an inquisitive bunch. And a tad detail oriented.”
Then Simon mentioned that those friends were Clair Fernandez and Samantha Salwis, two girls whom she knew somewhat. She has talked in passing with, and studied with a few times.
“They are super nice! I don’t know them super well but I’ve met them both.”
Simon then said that he doesn’t go outside much. Deciding not to pry and assuming it was because of homework, friends, clubs and such, Bailey moved on to asking him how he was raised.
As he explained that his mum had died when he was young and that his Aunt who raised him was not a witch, Bailey nodded.
“That makes sense.”
Then Simon asked how she was raised. Bailey answered, saying “I am actually a muggle born so, like you, I had no clue this existed. I was around 9 I think when I made a book fly across the local library into my hand. The librarian there was a squib so she explained to my parents and I what had happened. She also convinced the rest of the people there that she had tripped and I had caught the book.”Word count: 230 ish
