Louca had been disappointed to wake up to pounding rain. He had been hoping to explore the grounds of Hogwarts, beyond the Great Lake where he had taken a swim. But since he had already gotten quite soaked yesterday when he jumped into the Lake, he figured it would be better to explore the inside of the castle. That way he could remain dry and warm. He had spent the morning wondering the hallways and ducking into any rooms or passages he came across, but had then seen the library. Deciding he’d go eat lunch and then start in the library to see what kind of books they had and what he might be able to learn or find there, he had returned to the Great Hall.
Having satisfied his hunger for the moment, he had then made his way somewhat roundaboutly to the Library. Entering, he reminded himself that quiet was necessary to interact. Choosing a random spot to start, he went down an aisle, slowly moving his finger over the spines and making note of a few that he found on interesting topics. Focused too much on the titles of the books, he was surprised to hit a barrier. Blinking, he looked where had had been going. Realizing he had reached the end of the row, he chuckled to himself, and said quietly ”oops, gotta actually pay attention to where I’m going.”

Rainy Day In
Vivian had wandered down to the library sometime after lunch, feeling bored and wanting to read something. Anything. She hadn't gotten the chance to open a single book since she arrived at Hogwarts, as the novels she had brought were ones she had read hundreds of times.
As soon as she had finished her lunch, which consisted of 2 apples and some pie, she had asked a Hufflepuff for directions to the library, as the changing stairs and gigantic hallways were awfully confusing. The Hufflepuff happily pointed out the way to the library, and Vivian thanked them and set off at a fast pace.
She was now in the library, sitting at one of the tables, reading about magical history, trying to make sense of it. She had located the book on a shelf that had dust clinging to it, and Vivian made the assumption that no one really came back there. She understood why now, this book was awfully boring, and it wasn't even about things she would learn this year.
She sighed, rising from her chair and sauntering back to the shelf, and crouched down to put the book away. She had remembered which books the volume had been placed between thank to her memory, and pushed it in gently. She stood up, and went to a different aisle, walking quietly down the many shelfs, her fingers drifting over the spines of the book. The smell was of pine and wood, and she simply got lost in it.
She looked up sharply when she realised she had nearly bumped into someone. A boy. She blinked, surprised.
"Oops, gotta actually pay attention to where Im going," he murmured. Vivian let out a small giggle. She often didn't pay attention to where she was going either inside a library, she often wandered, hoping to find a good book.
"What type of book are you looking for? Maybe I could, I don't know, be of assistance?" She looked directly into the boys eyes, waiting for an answer, her fingers lightly tapping on the spine of a book on poisonous plants.

Louca pushed his hand through his hair, stretching his back slightly when he heard a voice speaking to him. Realizing that they thought he actually was looking for something specific. Louca turned toward the speaker, realizing it was a girl. Her hair was quite interesting as at first glance it looked black, but if you looked closer it was a very dark shade of blue. She was pale, with freckles and a beauty mark on her chin.
Realizing he had been staring a little bit longer than was polite, Louca grinned widely at her. ”Welllllll…..that’s a bit of an interesting story. Well not a story really.” Louca realized it really wasn’t that interesting but still he had started so now he needed to continue. ”I was exploring the castle, because of the rain,” He gestered towards the wall, not that there was a window there to show the rain. ”And I just kind of decided to come here and scan the shelves. See if I could find anything interesting. Not that I think I’ll be able to borrow it.”
Louca’s grin dropped a bit as he realized that conundrum. After all, he wasn’t a student and would likely have to read any books he really wanted to in the library. And he usually couldn’t stand staying still long enough to read an entire book so it would require multiple visits. That would be a bit of a bummer but at the same time, it would mean there was something to do on days where the weather meant he was forced inside. ”Anyway, my name’s Louca, and you are?” Louca stuck his hand out, his parents having taught him some manners, although the main reason was because sometimes it was easier to get close to marks if you could lure them into thinking you were a well-mannered individual.

Rainy Day In
Vivian watched with interest as the boy explained how he wasn't searching for a specfic book, but namely something "interesting." She chuckled lightly to herself as he spoke about how he was exploring the castle instead of being outside because of the rain, and frowned slightly when he noted he wouldn't be able to check out books.
Odd, students can check out books, can't they? She peered at him carefully and quickly realized she had never sawn him here before. Never spotted him in the hallway, never in classes, nowhere. Realization dawned on her, and she assumed he must be here for the Hexwizard Tournament. He was from another school.
The boy introduced himself as Louca, sticking out his hand for her to shake. She blinked at him, surprised. So far, everyone she had met here had either spoken in a soft, nervous tone to her, refusing to meet her gaze, or been too bubbly and excited to shake her hand. She smiled gently and shook his outstretched hand, a hint of suspicion flooding her mind before she quickly brushed it away. She was positive Louca also meant "Bringer of light" if she remembered correctly.
"It is a pleasure to make your acquittance, Louca. My name is Vivian, Vivian Crowell." She spoke, her tone formal. It was obvious the brunette boy had manners, and Vivian tried her best to be as formal as possible. "I'm assuming you aren't from this school? You are here for the Tournament, correct?"

Louca grinned at the girl as she chuckled, always happy to make others laugh. He enjoyed when others were happy and tended to try to keep them that way at any cost, even if it meant lying. He had learned from the best, and could smooth talk his way out of any situation. Which was a benefit with the amount of trouble Louca could get in. Not today, for sure, because it was the library and he didn’t think even he could get in trouble here, but most days.
Louca’s grin widened at the formal speech, it was something he had not expected. ”Nice to meet you Vivian.” He debated giving a slight wave, but gave it a pass, figuring he had already done the handshake and that was enough.
”Yeah! I’m from Ilvermorny. I’m hoping to enter, but not sure if I’ll be chosen. There’s lots of older students entering I’m sure.” Louca was determined to enter. He knew it was dangerous but he feared nothing and this tournament sounded so cool! It would be awesome to finally know what it all involved whenever that happened, and even if he wasn’t chosen.
”Are you from Hogwarts? Or one of the other schools? I don’t recognize you from Ilvermorny.” Louca tilted his head slightly, debating with himself if he had seen her or not. ”Come here often?” He grinned cheekily as he gave the often used line. Not that he was trying to move things in that direction, but it seemed like a good way to keep the conversation moving.

The young girl blinked as Louca excitedly explained how he was from Ilvermorny and had indeed come to Hogwarts for the Tournament. His eyes glimmered with determination, and Vivian could tell he was thrilled to even have the chance to enter.
Louca then asked Vivian if she was from Hogwarts or another school, to which Vivian promptly responded with,
"Oh no, this is my school. If I had sawn you Ilvermorny, I would strike up a conversation with you." Vivian blinked, realizing how weird that sounded, and added on frantically, "T-that is if you were interesting, not like your not interesting now, you are, I just tend to speak with people I find fascinating, and your, uh, fascinating, I just, I really messed this up didn't I-" Vivian muttered, her ears and nose dusted in light pink. Well down Vivian. Well, ruddy DONE.
She stared a the flats, not wanting to meet Louca's eyes after that..disaster. She let out a sigh of relief when he quickly changed the topic, asking about how often she came here.
"Oh. Well, I recently arrived at Hogwarts, so so far I've only come here at least 4 times. I intend to come much more often though, a library is like my safe place. Tucked away, hidden from reality.." She murmured. She had picked up a book off the shelf and was now running her fingers across the cover, tracing the indented title. She set it back in its place making a mental note about which aisle it was in as the title was interesting.
She glanced back up at Louca, and back to the shelf, thinking of something to say. Her mind came up with nothing, so she asked, "Do you come to the library often? Or do you visit other places?"

Louca chuckled slightly at Vivian’s response but warmly, trying to convey that he wasn’t laughing at her but instead was enjoying her ramble. Louca could understand that not everyone had his comfort with people and it was easy enough for him to make conversation where it might not be for others. ”No, no no, I understand completely. And yes, I’m pretty confident I’m interesting although admittedly it’s a bit harder to be interesting in this weather.” Louca was really not a fan of rain, preferring sunshine or even clouds that would allow him to be doing things. He could and had actually climbed walls when confined too long, especially in the winter when storms might prevent him from going out or being active.
Nodding, Louca understood what she was saying. ”I get that. It’s kind of like a safety blanket deal. Still you’d know it better than me. Have you found a favorite section already?” Louca asked, curiosity in his tone. He always wanted to know more about people, their behaviours and favourites. People always managed to surprise him, even when he thought he had them figured out. They were interesting and Louca lived for interesting.
Louca brought one arm behind his head, stretching a bit but also a little embarrassed by his answer, if only because he could do some very foolish things at times. A very small amount of pale red entered his cheeks, the blush obvious if you looked for it. ”Not really a library guy. Usually only when I need to for classes, or I end up there randomly. I tend to be a find something to do. I play quidditch so that helps, and then usually I’ll do a lot of exploring. It’s cool the hidey holes you can find when you look for them. Do you know of any hidden spots around here? It’s fascinating to have a new place to look around.”
He brought his arm back to his side, scratching at his neck absently. ”Not that the library isn’t fascinating but it’s much slower than I’m used to and I don’t really like sitting still for long periods of time. I’m always amazed at people that can get so immersed in books that they can just pass hours like that.” Louca added eagerly, keen to ensure that even if she preferred to do things other than what he was interested in, it was okay.

Vivian listened intently as Louca chuckled and said he was quite sure he was interesting, and some pressure was relieved from Vivian's chest. She was hoping her weird comment wouldn't make things awkward, and surprisingly, it didn't. Louca carried on as if nothing had happened.
After she had answered Louca's question about being in the library, she had asked him if he was in the library often too, which he flushed at. Easily flustered, check. Vivian thought, giggling. Louca explained how he only went into the library for classes, and she tilted her head as he mentioned he played Quidditch. A Quidditch person. How nice.
"Do you know of any hidden spots around here? It’s fascinating to have a new place to look around." Vivian grinned at that. She knew a few spots she thought Louca would like.
"I’m always amazed at people that can get so immersed in books that they can just pass hours like that,” Louca said, grinning at her.
"Oh yes, I simply get lost in the shelves for hours at a time, one time I was in the library at my home for an entire day. I didn't get much sleep.." She trailed off, thinking about that day.
"Oh, and about hidden spots, I know quite a few. There are the abandoned toilets, a little area tucked away behind the greenhouses, the grounds have a grove of trees off to one side that doesn't have many people lurking about. " She met Louca's eyes, then looked down at her shoes, nudging the toe of one shoe into the ground. "I spend most of my time reading in, er, those areas."

Louca was enjoying the conversation with Vivian. She seemed shy but was engaged, which was great. He knew how to converse and his parents said he could charm anything from anyone so that was easy enough for him but if the other person refused to engage, it was much harder to continue. Honestly, Louca likely wouldn’t continue if someone was giving short answers or seemed overly anxious. That wouldn’t be kind to the other person who might just want to be left alone and was too kind to say otherwise. And look, he was even rambling to himself. He really had the gift of gab. A trip to kiss the Blarney Stone would be wasted on Louca or would just lead to him being the most annoying person who just couldn’t shut up.
”Obviously you found some excellent books, but I hope you caught up on some sleep. Have you ever fallen asleep on a book or done that thing where your book falls on your face?” Louca had seen those things in a few of the muggle shows he had seen in passing or with some of the tourist kids who had a place nearby. He didn’t know how likely those scenarios actually happened but the shows made it seem like it happened more often than not. And if Vivian managed to go without much sleep, it seemed like it might have happened to her. ”I saw it happen in a couple of muggle programs I saw in passing. They made it seem like that was the thing to do when reading or studying and being very interested in the books.”
”Thanks! I’ll have to find them. Are they very hard to find?” Louca asked. Her descriptions seemed pretty straightforward but there could be some secret turn or password or something. ”Oh! Do you need passwords to sit there? That would be so cool, but then how would you keep people out who didn’t have the password?” Louca was acting a bit more enthusiastic and foolish than he usually was but he figured it wouldn’t hurt and would make the conversation continue but also help make Vivian more comfortable.
