ReducioPERSONALITY
Jamie exudes peak dumb boy energy. He’s brash, crude, loud, and loves to goof around whenever possible. He thinks of himself as very knowledgeable in pop culture, and will constantly make references to memes and such. It’s honestly pretty annoying sometimes. But underneath his self-described chaotic nature, he can actually be quite sensitive and empathetic. He will protect those he cares about with his life, and never hesitates to stand up for what he thinks is right. ReducioAPPEARANCE
Jamie has beautiful, curly red hair that just comes past his chin. He wants to grow it out even more, but his mother keeps cutting it way too short for his liking. He has a face full of freckles, and twinkling brown eyes. He's an average height for a boy his age, and he's often covered in band-aids due to his reckless behavior. Jamie also needs glasses, but at this point in his life, he hardly ever wears them. Since, according to him: “Glasses are for nerds!” ReducioHISTORY
Jamie grew up in the bustling, quirky, city of Portland, Oregon. He lives with his two mothers; Lorelei Greenspan and Dylan Ziegler, and his twin sister, Melissa. Jamie had a relatively normal and happy childhood, despite the usual cuts and scrapes of an energetic young boy.
Jamie adores the city life. The sounds, the lights, the food-- and the music! Every day is an adventure, and he’s constantly finding something new to explore. It's everything a hyperactive kid could dream of. He has tons of friends, of course. He prides himself on being extremely easy to get along with, and has no qualms going up and introducing himself to people. His family is pretty cool, too.
Lorelei is Mama, the ambitious, fiery go getter of the bunch. She's kinda annoying and overbearing at times, but Jamie knows that she's probably only looking out for him (whatever). Dylan is Mom, with her laid back attitude, artistic whimsy, and devil-may-care smile. She's the one who taught him how to skateboard. She's also more likely to let him run wild (much to Lorelei's chagrin). And then there's Mel (or Lissy, as her friends call her). She seems to have inherited Mama's annoying ways, and likes to boss Jamie around all the time. The two have gotten into plenty of scuffles. But hey, that's what sisters are for!
Some of the other kids at school think it's weird for Jamie to have two moms, but he doesn't agree. They love and care for him just as much as other parents do, so how are they any different? Sometimes, though, he finds himself wondering about his dad. He knows he has one, since his parents have mentioned the guy in passing. But he never gets any details beyond his eyes, or the kind of shirts he liked to wear. Maybe someday he'll get to find out about what type of person his dad was.
(Mama’s face gets all scrunched up on the rare occasions she talks about him though, so maybe he wasn't the best of dads.)
Nowadays, Jamie is living his best life-- a double life as a wizard! Ilvermorny has a new little stinker on its hands, and they're not getting rid of him any time soon.
ReducioFIRST MAGIC
Jamie showed no signs of being a wizard until he was about nine years old. He fell while trying to do a grind down a massive stairway, and busted his knee and jaw wide open. Mel ran to get their mom, and Jamie bawled his eyes out, wishing the pain would go away. And just like that, it did. His wounds magically sealed themselves up. When he cautiously wiped the blood away, the skin was completely smoothed over.
A worried Lorelei came running up to inspect her son, but she pulled away in confusion. She sighed and scolded the two for making things up again, but Jamie and his sister exchanged knowing glances. Something was definitely afoot. They discussed it late into the night, but neither could come up with an explanation.
What followed was several more attempts to recreate the strange event–earning Jamie plenty of scars. They eventually gave up and spoke nothing of what happened, until Mel showed signs of magic too. Flabbergasted, the Zieglers had no choice but to search for answers as to why their children had seemingly gained superpowers. And then, the letters from Ilvermorny arrived.

Jamie may be a wizard, but he can't shake his muggle upbringing. He's a city boy through and through, with the cuts, scrapes, and street smarts to prove it. He's gotten along just fine without magic for a decade now! So, he can obviously keep on doing that. Of course, that hasn't stopped him from trying to attempt as many spells as he can, or vowing to explore every inch of the magical world. Magic is real! How awesome is that? But you know, sometimes it's too much trouble to remember the correct jinx or hex when someone pisses you off! And some people could really use a good kick in the pants...
"Whose idea was it to have spells be in Latin?" Jamie wonders. "I can't pronounce half of them, and it's a dead language anyway!"
Excuses, excuses. Turns out wizard school, or really any school for that matter, isn't his strong suit. He does pretty well in the more hands-on classes, like Charms, or Potions, but dreads others like History of Magic or Astronomy. Jamie is also accident prone-- with his short attention span and over-eagerness, magical explosions are more common than not.
The redhead has always tended to act first, think later, so he's already primed to use whatever's nearby, in a fight or otherwise. But then again, since magic is still relatively new to him, he defaults back to his muggle upbringing, with perspective, problem solving, confrontations, and so on, and so on. Also, sometimes the muggle way is just easier. Like, why don't electronic devices don't work at his school? You're telling him he has to walk all the way to the library, and look up stuff-- in books?? Books are for nerds!
Jamie is also very "in" with the meme crowd, which made him quite popular back in his old school. But unfortunately, wizards aren't familiar with muggle pop culture, and similar activities. You're telling him that one of his best (pureblood) friends doesn't know what a skateboard is? How is that even possible? This means that Jamie often finds himself at odds with his more magically knowledgeable peers. You don't just integrate smoothly into a world that you didn't even know existed a year ago. But even so, Jamie is determined to become the coolest wizard ever! Maybe that means joining the quidditch team, or becoming a renowned prankster. Or you know, improving his spellwork...or researching in the library. That too.

Despite his apparent stupidity, Jamie is pretty adept when it comes to his observational prowess. You know when you absolutely cannot find the ketchup in the fridge, even after searching it ten times? And then your mom finds it in like negative two seconds? That's Jamie. He brags that he could pick a needle out of a haystack. He actually can’t, but he's always the first one to find odd pieces of jewelry, socks, or glasses that the rest of his family loses around the house. We could go on and on with other such examples: Where's Waldo, escape rooms, hidden object games. The kid's freakishly good! He's also kind of addicted to Mystery Society 2, so there's that for you.
As to why he's so good at spotting things, it's probably because Jamie is always full of energy. There were often times where his parents left him and his sister alone in a waiting room, or at the mall while they ran errands. Mel kindly told him his constant fidgeting was annoying, so Jamie had to find a way to channel it elsewhere. And in one such waiting room, there was a stack of Where's Waldo books on the table next to him. He'll also do this when he's bored, and play a game of I Spy with himself, as well as a bit of people watching thrown in for some flavor. It's actually helped to reduce his hyperactive tendencies, much to the relief of his teachers in school. Perhaps it balances out--he can be very hyper one minute, then super focused on something the next.
When Jamie finally got to Ilvermorny, one of the things that he was immediately drawn to was quidditch. Granted, quidditch is not as popular in the US as it is in other parts of the world, but that didn't stop Jamie from attending every single school game. He's mesmerized by how the players weave through the air, and how the crowd goes wild at every move. It was this passion and fascination that eventually drove him to join his house team. But as he stood in the stands one day, he decided to shift focus from the chasers, his favorite position, to the seeker. He put himself in their shoes, so to speak, and he suddenly had an idea: Could he find the snitch faster than they could? He shared his plan with his friends, and the group immediately began scanning the field for the tiny golden ball. While his buddies were still squinting in frustration, Jamie found it just five seconds before the seeker did. Everyone was dumbfounded-- "Dude, that was amazing! How did you do it?"
Jamie grinned proudly. "If I told you, then I'd have to kill you..."
