He was already moving in slomo, was already having to deal with the kickback of his own Smokescreen Spell, then having to deal with the cruel fate the third years seem to enjoy sentencing on him. "Thanks a lot Travis and Percy." He said, simply trying to keep his tone towards the lane of sarcasm. [/font]

Thomas didn't even bother with further trash talk, keen only on finally bringing this duel to a conclusive end. It would be the greatest insult to his pride if he couldn't properly win, relying instead on the time limit to bring victory. Indignation simmered below the surface, he hardly heard Cody's continued taunts as he just wanted the match to be over. The Ravenclaw was starting to grow sick of duels that went on far past their expiration date, particularly when the opponent was seemingly incapable of putting up any fight aside from being a thorn in his side.

It was no secret that the Knockback Jinx was one of the most damaging spells on the duelling market until Year 5 where one could learn the Pressurized Water Charm. It was a fact that was obvious as all three boys cast it on each other. Cody would hit Thomas in the shoulder, hurting him but not quite as much as desired. Pericles and Thomas however hit Cody right at the same time. The boy flew backwards and the duel was subsequently ended. The Ravenclaws were victorious once more!

The duel, while not as prolonged as their first stage, was grueling. It dragged out just until the final round, nearly breaching the newly-enforced time limit, and yet they struck true in that crucial climax. Cody had been bumbling their names once again. With an unusual monotony, the Ravenclaw retaliated: "You need new material. Flipendo!" Tom and Peri cast their twin Flipendos. The obnoxiously sturdy first-year fell, and at last, their ordeal was over. Tension bled from him with a sigh upon realizing they were victorious. A drowsy smile sprung into place, then he strode to his partner's side with an outstretched arm. With one hand, he intended to raise Tom's. With the other, he extended his wand for a final spell, to set off "Caerulimillious!"- the Blue Sparks Charm- for a flare of Ravenclaw pride.

Action: Celebrating!

At first, their victory didn't even register for Thomas. He had already been preparing to cast his next spell, drawing in a breath to speak aloud another incantation. Cody's Flipendo grazed him, though it wasn't a direct hit, so he was more than prepared to retaliate when he noticed the Hufflepuff fall to his team's blows.

Casting a glance toward Pericles, slowly but surely a grin of his own was breaking out on his features. Thomas raised his hand in celebration, triumph slowly eating away at the sour disposition he was sporting some short time ago. Their victory was hard-earned, and the boy couldn't help but feel they deserved it.

In spite of it all, he even managed to cheer. "I shouldn't have gotten so irked," Tom commented, mostly to himself. At the end of the day, he knew they would win from the start, that confidence should have been enough to keep him even-keeled.
