Before the age of six, Nyx never really had a reason to think about or question their talent. They’d known about it before then but they hadn’t ever seen it as something unusual. The fact that their eyes changed colour with their mood or their freckles danced across their skin like the ever moving starry sky was not strange.Yes, their grandmother didn’t do it but why would she? She was cool looking and didn’t seem like the type who wanted to change anything about herself. And of course their mother hadn’t done it before but she had so many spells that changed the form of other things that Nyx saw that as basically the same thing. And neither of them really said anything about it. Not anything that indicated that it was strange. Not in front of Nyx, at least. Not that they could remember.

So is it really a wonder that the first time they questioned it was because of their growing but still tiny little sister? By then, Psyche was already three and filled with that same curiosity everyone has as a toddler. She’d pointed at Nyx’s face one day and asked rather plainly, “Why pink?”

Of course, Nyx explained as much as they thought was necessary and said with a shrug, “I feel pink,”

They thought that would be the end of it.

It was not.

That simple question sparked a discussion with their whole family and after it, Nyx had a million and one questions and twice as many ideas.

That day they learned that this power came from their latest documented ancestor— from their mothers side, of course— Aphrodite Dove. She had been a beautiful woman and rather skilled with the Metamorphmagus talent. She changed her form often, her appearance as fluid as she wished. Most of the time, she changed it to what others desired. Rarely did she do what she herself wanted. This was very important to their family history. It was one of the reasons why they treasured a persons wants and needs, it was why they were a matriarchal family, it was the start of the family tradition to name their children for Ancient Greek deities. But in this moment, the most important part of it to Nyx at that time was that she was where they got this ability from.

For about a week after that day, they tried and tried and tried to change something deliberately. It didn’t work out. Then, they decided that they didn’t care too much about that. It was super cool regardless.

Their talent remained a constant in their life that they did not think much on, just like before that conversation. However it became more important to them afterwards.

As they grew older, it was this talent that allowed them more easily understand themself. After all, isn’t it much easier to live your life when you don’t have to over think what it is you are feeling? Their eyes changed colour based on their emotions and once they figured out approximately what each one meant things became so much simpler. It was easier to figure out that you didn’t like long hair when your body essentially told you by making it shorter. Part of the reason that they chose Nyx as their name was because of a comment Psyche had made about their ever changing freckles— how they looked like stats in the night sky.
Freckles that they wouldn’t have behaved that way if it weren’t for them being a Metamorphmagus. Sure, not everything changed all the time and it wasn’t as if everything they learned about themself was because of this talent. But it certainly made things easier.

So while Nyx didn’t have a reason to ever think about their talent before the age of six and didn’t actively consider it very frequently afterwards, it was still very much an important part of who they were.

Pax had always been aware of both sides of the story. Their wizard father taught them the foundations of magic, but it was their mother, in actual fact, that enabled Pax to become who they truly are. Even with the ideas of magic swirling in their head, Pax's mother managed to keep them grounded to mugle principles and ideas.

From ever since they could remember, Pax was always curious about what was deemed 'unordinary' in their household. Technology, muggle sports, they wanted to know everything. And their mother patiently talked them through it all. How to use a phone, how to play the most peculiar sport of football (Pax could never understand why muggles found kicking a ball around more enjoyable than quidditch). Every night, Pax's mother would grace all three siblings with a tale of her life before being introduced to magic. The struggles of school food, making friends at muggle schools, some of her best memories. They almost made Pax nostalgic for a life they wouldn't have.

TV was by far the best muggle invention created, Pax was firmly set on the idea. Being able to watch almost anything in a box was a revolutionary idea. And muggle music! Oh, despite their tone-deaf-ness, Pax loved to belt out a song, though their family maybe less so. Meals were also always made by their mother, handmade in the muggle way. Bread was a personal favourite of Pax's. Freshly baked muggle bread couldn't be beaten in their opinion.

Being homeschooled did its fair share of limiting muggle experiences, and Pax was nothing short of disappointed. They wanted to get out there, interact with people, learn about their mother's side of life that she'd given up to take care of them. When they complained, Pax's mother made sure to include as much of muggle life as she could. Whenever Pax's father wasn't around, she would show the siblings the muggle way to complete tasks, proving that magic didn't always have to be the answer.

So instead of things like dueling or ettiquette, like some pure-blood families, Pax learnt how to fight. Rough, almost brutal, fighting. This is something Pax's mother would come to regret this when she found her three children in a scrappy fight almost every week for the stupidest reason. But she found it important that Pax and their brothers could fight for themselves sooner rather than later. After all, they couldn't always rely on magic to get them out of tight situation.

Now, years later, Pax adores and vastly appreciates the exposure that their mother ensured for them. The muggle world was just as much a part of them as the wizarding world, and they'd struggle to forget it.

Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for: Healing Sage
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
There were many times that Lito felt the pain of other people. He felt Aurora’s pain when she fell out of a tree and broke her wrist. They were only nine years old then. Another time he felt someone’s pain was when his father’s mother died. He was in so much despair and he tried to be there for him as much as he could.

Lito’s older brother Legion tried to apparate once at home in his 7th year. Lito was only eleven years old when it happened. He unsuccessfully apparated and he splinched. His skin was off of his left hand and he was screaming in pain. Lito felt like he could understand the pain he was going through. When he saw his brother crying he almost started crying.

Lito, Legion, and their mother were the only ones at their home that day. Their mother was a Healer so she had some plants in their house. She had taught them a little bit about the plants around them. She also taught them about the anatomy of the human body when Lito was ten years old. While he was quite young he quickly understood anything that involved healing.

Their mother went searching for Essence of Dittany and bandages to help his brother. She came back a few minutes later with the supplies and set them on the table. She looked at Legion as he clenched his uninjured hand and grabbed it. She squeezed his hand and told him that he was going to be just fine. Lito quickly grabbed gloves from under the sink and gave them to his mother as she sat down.

She slowly applied the Essence of Dittany topically on his hand. Soon after green smoke started billowing from the top of his hand. Then Legion leant back with a sigh of relief. Lito smiled at his brother and told him that he was alright now.

Legion grabbed his mother’s hand and said, “Thank you so much. I don’t ever want to apparate again.”
She smiled at him and said, “Well we have to learn from our mistakes. Maybe you should learn more about apparition before you do it again.”

He watched as his brother stood up and headed toward his room. That was the first time that Lito felt inspired by his mother’s job as a Healer. From then on he decided to devote his magic to the art of healing.

Ability: The Muggle Condition
Description:
His father was a late bloomer when it came to spell casting and his mother is a muggle. This was the rationalization Jorah gave himself for his poor spellcasting. Its not like Jorah was dim-witted, he just wasn’t exposed to magic as much as the other students. It’s easy to pick up magic when you grow up with it but that wasn’t the case for Jorah. Prior to Hogwarts he went to a muggle school, he had muggle friends, and enjoyed electronics like other muggle boys his age. Microsoft’s Halo franchise was the most beloved of his videogames. Some of Jorah’s best memories were playing co-op with his muggle friend Kyle. This wouldn’t have been possible in a wizard only house as the magical energies interfered with electronics. Jorah’s father knew better than to accio a drink from the fridge and ruin his wife’s latest television obsession.
Magic became something Jorah only experienced on special occasions like holidays or family trips. When it came time to move to Hogwarts, the culture shock was a little overwhelming. The young lad had rarely seen his father’s wand as he kept it locked up in a safe. Now he was at a school surrounded by children running around with them! Wasn’t this dangerous? Yes, yes it was if the school dances were any indication. In his first year, Jorah was attacked by half-giants and trapped in a burning room. Rather than lazily use magic, have the spell backfire, and make the situation worse like some students, Jorah stook with what he knew best, physical combat. He fashioned a bat out of a table leg and attacked the half-giants without magic. In his second year when mosps attacked the Quidditch pitch, again Jorah preferred the certainty of a physical weapon. Jorah relied on his beaters bat to defeat the mosps, not his wand.
Maybe he was too much like his mother. Maybe he was just a little barbarian that enjoyed smashing things with a blunt object. Whatever the reason, when push came to shove, Jorah was more likely push back with his fists than a knockback jinx. Magic was fickle and enigmatic, but the strength of Jorah’s hands were reliable.
Joining the Quidditch team only helped Jorah improve the accuracy of his physical attacks. Do you know how hard it is to direct a bludger at a moving target while you yourself are flying? By his third year on the Quidditch team, Jorah had become the Broom Breaker, smashing multiple bludgers into the Slytherin team. The more practice Jorah got hitting bludgers with his bat, the more accurate his physical attacks had become.

"You can't catch me! You won't, no matter how! Race you to that tree!"

Without waiting for his brother, Marius ran. Behind the boy, Alberto followed; the younger child ran too, but carefully. He quite enjoyed it when his brother challenged him, but would never initiate the friendly competition himself.

Marius looked back and smiled, knowing very well he was going to win. He knew his brother, that kid preferred to sit at home and walk carefully with his hat on. But Marius himself was different. He was energetic, enjoyed running through the family farm, and liked the feeling of sun on his face that he did not like putting his hat on. He kept running whilst turning his head back, and the brown-eyed boy tripped and fell over stones on his way. His t-shirt was now covered in both dirt and sweat, but Marius could not care less; quickly he got up and won the race.

He beamed all the way home, but his dad was much displeased to see the eldest son's appearance: his clothes now looked so shabby, his hair resembled a bush, and his feet were dirty for he had been running barefoot. "But I like the feeling of earth on my toes, Dad!" Marius said to defend himself when Dad scolded him.

As the Chinese-English boy went to bathe, he caught sight of his brother in the corner of his brown eyes. Alberto looked very clean and neat, just like the traditional definition of a gentleman. Even though his parents never compared the brothers, or asked Marius to try to be more like Alberto, he knew that many people considered the younger brother superior. It was very human of Marius to get jealous of him sometimes, the way everyone longs for beauty in their lives in one form or another.

But thoughts like this were always soon forgot. For Marius, visual loveliness could never beat comfort and fun. He could not understand how some people were scared to have their clothes torn or their hair messy, and secretly considered them ridiculous. He would not tell his parents, but once he (inwardly) mocked the daughter of his mother's friend because she sobbed over her cut hair.

The same goes with human interactions. Marius was never tempted to befriend someone just because they were good-looking. What was the good of appearance if their attitude suck? In fact, it was one of Marius' favourite memories to have a revenge on that Claude Fraser, the best-dressed but also most arrogant kid in class!

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
You know that one friend who's always there, always supportive, and always seems to know just what to say or do to make you feel better? That person who's always got a kind word and makes others feel loved? The one who you can trust to keep your secrets? That's Grace.
Grace has always been empathetic and caring. Most of it comes naturally, but there is a part that is something she had to work for. Other people's feelings and moods matter to her, and she doesn't like it when someone, even someone she doesn't get along with, is upset.
She also cares deeply what other people think about her, but not in a vain way. Grace wants to be seen as the kind of person you can go to when you're struggling or when you need someone to talk to, the kind of person who's always helping others with their problems without ever asking for anything in return. Grace works very hard to keep up that image, but it isn't a (usually) burden to her. Helping people is her passion, and she always has time for it, and if she doesn't, she'll make some. She'd give up almost anything if it means making someone feel better.
For a long time, she didn't realize what was happening, but recently, she is starting to notice the effects of her ability, although she still doesn't quite believe it's coming from her. Simply being there seems to help more than it used to. Arguments that seemed to be brewing between her and her sister or in her friend group calmed before they really started. She'd even managed to calm herself once or twice in a rough spot, but that was much harder for her.

There is a bit of downside to this part of her nature, though. Grace tends to use her calm aura to cover her own problems and things she thinks might upset the image she tries so hard to present, not wanting to bother anyone or impair her ability to help people. She's done this so much she doesn't even realize what she's doing, and she tries so hard to ignore or work around the aftereffects of bottling that all up, trying not to show the mess underneath the calm to anyone. But there's always darkness to balance out the light. The contrast is what makes the light so beautiful, right?

When she was born, Linh was a young girl like any other.
She always has been.
But his physique sometimes showed some small changes that no one noticed.
It could have been her hair changing a bit in color or length...
Or his eyes that took on different colors over time.
But one day, during an intense sadness, Linh noticed that she was taking on a gray hue.
As if she was depressed and that feeling reverberated throughout her body.
When she finally calmed down, her skin resumed an almost normal hue, although a little paler.
Linh never suffered from her regular transformations, as these always happened at times when she was alone.
But if she had ever told her parents, they would have been scared!
What would you do if your child announced to you, in one way or another:
-And dad, mom, look, I can turn into a grandfather !
I'm not sure you'd take it well...
What she didn't know was that her mother also happened to be a metamorphmagus.
So Linh was half a metamorphmagus.
Her parents, if she had told them, would therefore not have panicked at the fact that she could change her form.
But Linh was like that.
Besides, whenever she was alone, she practiced changing her appearance.
It was fun.
She liked to change her hairstyle, the color of her eyes...
As the years passed, the young girl learned to master her power.
When she finally received her letter of admission to Hogwarts, she was overjoyed.
Of course, she was already aware that her parents were wizards, but she couldn't know that she was a witch too, although certain events could have given her a clue.
Anyway, let's not dwell on that, so when she received her letter for Hogwarts and presented it to her parents who were delighted, her mother finally decided to show her his power.
She took the form of Linh and she decided to tell them in turn that she could change her appearance, turning into a grandmother.
Which only increased the joy of his parents.
Linh spent the end of the holidays exercising her power, learning to control her.
From now on, the young girl can learn to control her emotions as well as this extraordinary capacity that she transforms her.
She tries to use it only for good reasons, not to scare or enter forbidden places under another guise.
Of course, this power sometimes poses a problem for him, but not a big one.
Linh's makeovers still happen quite often when she happens to be alone.
But his eyes sometimes continue to take on different shades, which no one notices.
Anyway, his metamorphoses had always been very discreet.
Linh is always careful that her makeovers don't run into danger.
She doesn't like to be stared at strangely, and hopes she won't be the only metamorphmagus at Hogwarts, though she knows no one will mistake her for a "weird" girl.
But Linh is indeed a metamorphmagus.
She does not mind...

Name of Ability or Race/Talent that you Are Applying for: Half-Goblin
Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):

Reducio
Jacqueline’s grandfather on her mother’s side is a full-goblin named Kargot. He married a muggle-born witch named Eufémia Liberato. Together they had four children: her uncle Eglus, her aunt Ysabel, her mother Daenisha, and her uncle Eulálio. In turn that makes her mother half-Goblin and Jacqueline one-quarter Goblin. Her mother’s siblings received varying degrees of the goblin genetics, and her mother got the most out of them, being the shortest at five foot one till this day.

Her grandfather Kargot comes from a line of full-blood goblins. He has two siblings, Blearuinx and Granlor, who never married outside of their race. Her grandfather has always been different, preferring to live by his own means and not tradition, which is sort of an inspiration to Jacqueline. Her grandparents grew fond of each other because of their similar sharpness in finances and mathematics. Kargot admired his wife because of how clever she was, amazing at calculating probabilities and taking risks that she was almost always rewarded from.

At first his family disagreed with their relationship, and also couldn’t understand why she was attracted to him because of their physical differences, but they too grew to like her a lot. Eufémia is a Gryffindor alumni who was well-known for her bravery and intelligence in school. She always scored high and top of her class, but she also was never afraid to help out others by letting them cheat on her work or teach them the subjects herself. Kargot usually didn’t like sociable people but she had just the right balance of friendliness and reservedness, preferring to stay meek and humble even when she was praised. He married her when she was twenty-three, a few months after they had their first child, Jacqueline’s uncle Eglus.

Jacqueline’s mother Daenisha looks the most goblin out of her siblings, as was said. She’s four foot two with long, thick, curly black hair, long fingers and feet, and a roundish head. Jacqueline is similar but since she’s only part goblin she will grow to be about five foot five, since on her father’s side he has very tall genes, even on the woman’s side. Jacqueline has slightly point ears and looks pretty much human except for her long fingers and feet, which the latter she’s not exactly proud of. Jacqueline is keen with money and spent many times with her grandfather in Gringott’s, where he works and her grandmother often visits. Although she looks very human, people can tell that she has goblin genetics because of her elongated fingers and feet. Her thick hair covers her ears most of the time but when they’re uncovered one notices the pointed ears. Just like her grandfather and other goblins she has a taste for unami flavors like mushrooms.

Her parents, Seyer and Daenisha attended Hogwarts together and were good friends, soon marrying years after school. Her mother is an renown Arithmancer for the Ministry and her father a skilled journalist that writes about rare and intriguing things. Her father comes from a line of Purebloods called the Thalismani’s, better known as the Tilghman’s once their ancestors came to Europe from indigenous Australia. They are very tall individuals, woman usually at least five foot ten by adult hood and men no shorter than six foot, so it balances out Jacqueline’s goblin genes. Her paternal family accepted her father’s marriage to her half-goblin mother because of how she’d bring wealth to their family, besides them being great childhood friends.

Jay has always had a deep passion for learning magic and it's secrets, ever since the day he saw his mother perform magic when he was 3 years old he had made it a life goal of his to become one of the most powerful wizards alive, Jay had always been a smart kid, he excelled in maths and science when he went to a muggle school and developed a love for computer science, however while some people might become less enthusiastic about magic as time passes, Jay's passion and love for magic only increaed, the more time passes, the more he wants to try and do magic by himself, his mother seeing how enthusiastic he is about magic decided to buy him some books about magic theory and Charms, Jay had been so happy that day he devoured the books and tried practicing magic before he even received a wand, Jay had gotten a basic understanding of magic by reading the books so he now knows that he has to focus his intent so he can shape the world as he wishes using his magic, well as much as a nine year old can anyway, from then on Jay would practice his magic by trying to move a rubber ball as he likes, however he didn't achieve much success in his early months, however he never got disheartened, instead it would fuel his desire for success more and more, eventually he managed to move the ball after five months of practice, however there were still limitations, he could only move the ball in one direction almost as if he is pushing it and he can't change its trajectory but he can push it without touching it any direction he wants, he had been so proud of his achievement that he falled to notice the ball levitating a bit off the ground, after his success he continued practicing every day, so he can achieve better control over the ball and it's trajectory, thee and half months later he manged to fully control the ball's trajectory, he can now move it in circles and change it's direction, all without lefting a finger, after that he decided he wanted to try some of the spells he read about in the books however he failed to apply any of them save for the levitation charm which he could just barley levitate the ball of the ground, so while he was sad he wasn't able to perform any good spells due to not having a wand, he still continued his magic practice so his control over his magic would increase or at the very least not decrease, five months before his Hogwarts letter arrived he manged to produce the Lumos charm, granted he can't even maintain it for more than a second and the light is pretty weak compared to a normal Lumos, but he managed to achieve this without a wand and before he even reached eleven, he was also disheartened when he realized he won't be able to use magic outside school when he starts attending Hogwarts or he might get expelled.

Describe why this fits your character (not why you the player want it):
Reducio
Marshal Walker had never known much about his family tree. But as soon as he had begun visiting his grandmother, he began to know more than he thought he liked. Every time his mother had scraped together enough money to afford a visit, he would spend as much time as possible listening to her stories, absently chewing on the brownies he loved so much.

On one particular visit, his grandmother sat him down in their usual room. The walls were draped with ancient wallpaper, splattered with water spots from bursting pipes over the years. The small windows dotted the walls, casting mystifying shadows on otherwise sunlit furniture. She didn’t seem sad nor happy with her housing establishment, but to Marshal, it was his second home. No matter how rickety the guest beds were, or how you had to turn the sink knob around twice to turn the water on.

On this particular evening, his grandmother sat down in the creaking rocking chair set in the corner, and began the meticulous rocking that always seemed to make Marshal fill with tired fatigue. She took up the needle and thread attached to a partially finished… something. She had been working on it for as long as Marshal could remember, which all but really said she had no talent in knitting. Her fingers were surprisingly quick for her age, though her long, silvery hair often got tangled in the string. The sock-sweater-scarf thing had little strands of bright silver weaved into it, and Marshal could recall each time she flinched as a hair strand caught in the weaving. In his childish opinion, he thought it looked quite pretty. Maybe she would let him have it one day.

“How has school been, Mars?” She asked in that melodic, soft voice. This was the question she inquired every time, starting off simple before diving into the deep history she loved to rant about. He kept his eyes locked on the needle, dipping in and out of the already woven thread. It was like a worm, pulling up out of the soil, leaving a small bump of wool, and then diving down underneath. Almost like a dolphin in the waters, as well, jumping and diving gracefully and quickly.

“Okay.” He shrugged. “Ms. Form made us do the tables again.” He pouted childishly.

“The times tables?” His grandmother inquired without looking up. Marshal nodded.

“Well, that is a shame, isn’t it? Good thing I have a very interesting story to tell today.” A sly smile tugged at the corners of her wrinkled mouth, soft pink lips curving up slowly. Sitting up in anticipation, Marshal leaned forwards. His golden curls tumbled into his eyes, and he shook his head vigorously, anxious for the new story.

She set down the knitting materials, and he gaped openly. This fantasized story must be incredibly important. She would only set down her needle and thread if she really had something to say. Lifting her head, she swished her soft long hair over her shoulder, looking him in the eyes.

“How much do you know about your family tree?” She gave him no time to answer, her eyes twinkling.

“Veelas are mythical creatures. Constantly full of life and dance, swaying around the meadows like lilies on the water. One of their most noticeable and likable qualities is their beauty. Hair long and shiny silver, always waving in the wind no matter the breeze. Skin pale and fair as a shining moon.” Young Marshal gasped, pointing a finger at her hair. She winked. “They were known for luring in men and women of any kind, making them feel extremely attracted.” Marshal marveled in wonder at the tale.

“Are they real?” He asked.

“Yes.”

Little did he know at the time, as he was still a naive child, his life was about to change noticeably.
Or maybe not.

He had known he was a nice looking boy. His mother would always remind him of that fact. But to him, it was a barrier, something that set him apart from the other children. He would occasionally be teased by the other children about his perfect features. His skin was too smooth, they would say. One particular bully would say it was translucent, like a frog. That unfortunate taunt earned him the nickname “Hop”, that stuck throughout his childhood years. New kids didn’t understand it, but he did. And he hated it.

His mother was similar in features, with her carved jawline and her pretty doe eyes. She just had a hard time handling it, a barrier between her and her beauty like strangers placed together for group work. She always claimed she got it from her grandmother, as if putting the blame or the reasoning onto her mother. But Marshal could see she was beautiful, especially when the sun hit her skin and made her look like a goddess, gently set on earth by the hands of an other-worldly being.

He also found himself not understanding how to handle his looks. Opinions varied to a point where he hardly knew what he looked like, whether he had nice curls or greasy matts, or if he had shiny eyes or glossy marbles. The only reason he knew why he was beautiful was not only because he knew he was Part-Veela, only by his grandmother’s word, but also because he knew his mother believed it. She didn’t lie, especially not about this kind of thing. He was as aware of his beauty as he was aware of his mortality.

Learning he was Part-Veela was strange. Once the truth was unveiled, he had begun learning more stories about Veela and Part-Veela from his grandma, from her considerations of modeling to how she met her husband. It was all so much, and Marshal found it difficult to ease into it just like that.

Once he got the letter to Hogwarts, he had high hopes about learning much more regarding his magical side and potentially finding others like him.
