Things did not look good for Katrina. As the duel went on for what felt like ages, the will to put an end to it and win was clear for both teams. The Gryffindor girl had decided to target Thomas with her Wind Jinx; as the strong wind came out of her wand, it split in two separate jolts, and while Thomas was more than ready to avoid it, Pericles was not as lucky, and the wind would render his movements more difficult for the next round. But that was where Katrina's luck would end.

Pericles had cast the Wind Jinx towards the girl as well, and despite her efforts, the well cast jinx still hit her, and it was sure to slow her down; if that wasn't enough, Thomas' perfect Arresto Momentum slowed down the already difficult movements of Katrina. From the looks of it, it seemed like the spell would last for a while, especially considering how perfectly it had come out from Thomas' wand. Once again the Ravenclaw boys were ready to fight until the end for the victory, and their skills were turning the fate of the duel in their favour.

Spectator Thread

Perhaps he was lost in the motions, or had grown so weary as to slip his guard. Whatever the culprit, when Katrina's Ventus suddenly split and sent an additional gust of wind his way, Pericles failed to dodge. He gasped, wincing when the howling gust barreled against him. An arm was raised to shield his face while the young wizard raised his wand in retaliation. "Ventus!" An answering gale howled back across the stage. Tom struck true, too, and despite the battering spell, Pericles found a second wind (pun) on realizing now was their chance to end this duel.

The strength of the spell that flew out of his wand was enough to placate the boy, seemingly pleased with himself and his work. Dodging Katrina's Ventus came naturally, Thomas had been honing such skills for quite some time now. The Ravenclaw was ready to finish this duel, and between the successes of himself and his partner this round he could almost taste the victory. By a significant margin, this was the longest duel Tom had ever found himself in, and he could only hope that its conclusion would be a satisfying one if nothing else.

The young man already knew what he would do next. He hoped Peri was on the same page, though their track record so far during this stage didn't indicate otherwise.

To say that Katrina was messed up would be an understatement. The girl had been hit with everything that the Ravenclaws had in their arsenal, but yet she still stood. A duellist to make her house proud for sure. This round she seemed to be overwhelmed and didn't end up casting. Pericles and Thomas were determined to set her alight, and they did... kind of. The flames weren't as strong as they were supposed to be. Katrina was able to dodge and was only hit on the very edge of her robes, making it hard for the fire to catch and do a decent amount of damage. She wouldn't last long, but how long could she last?

Spectator Thread

As the Wind Jinx wailing against him dwindled down, Pericles blinked the sensation from his eyes, heralding their handiwork. Poor @Katrina Walker was being buffeted by Ventus, slowed by Arresto Momentum, with two clusters of fire clinging to her clothes. Her endurance was admirable, though it was time to bring her suffering to an end. There was an unusual flintiness to his features as Pericles steadied his breathing, lifted his chin, and drew back his wand.

A strange expression found itself on Thomas' face. All the more strange was this feeling the young boy had, it almost felt unnatural in how unfamiliar it was. Remorse was not something that struck him often, generally, Tom was far too caught up in his own head to notice the plight of others by his own hand. In the rare moments that it did, it was often because Thomas made some sort of mistake, his anger with himself bringing to light shame and guilt. This was altogether different, the Ravenclaw was doing well. He and his partner were winning, succeeding, what could possibly be the root of his penance.

The answer to how long Katrina could last was apparently not long. She was aflame, beaten, battered, dizzy, and all around suffering. Pericles and Thomas were both attempting to end her suffering and knock her out. Pericles proved to be unsuccessful, missing the girl completely. But Thomas landed the final blow, sending Katrina flying back and knocking her out. The duel was promptly stopped and Ravenclaw was announced the victors.
