While most of the other students spent their hours touring the castle and the grounds, he felt no desire for such things. He felt no need to See what he already knew. To risk an assault or a berating. To face any of them, specifically her.
Not until he was in a position of control once again.
So he spent time in his temporary quarters, a small and uninteresting private space with a single bed and nightstand. How he missed European beds. There was a small desk, it was there he wrote and he read under the light of a candle well into the night. His first night at Hogwarts was restless, chilled to the core and saturated from his extended stay at the Great Lake. His second day spent mostly in quiet meditation, reflection and studious endeavors to an onlooker. He did not attend the meals, he never had even when he was a student at Hogwarts or Mahoutokoro for that matter. He ate what he brought with him, nuts and dried meat, water flavored with bits of dried fruit, crackers with a spread that came from a jar. He was not much of an eater, but he was certainly not underfed, just lanky as his eating habits did not stunt his growth. He towered over his Asian peers.
His trunk lay at the foot of his bed, open. The contents readily visible were rather mundane - clothes, books, some basic school supplies. The only unique object in the room was the cloak and mask which he hung from a hook in the room intended to hold a bathrobe or perhaps a coat. A small puddle of water on the floor was in need of mopping.
Perhaps he was the dullest boy in existence.

After his impromptu run-in with Winnie, Hiro couldn't help but want to go around and look for where Mathias had disappeared to. Despite the fact that the two of them literally hadn't said a single word to eachother, well not on Mathias's part that is, Hiro still pursued him. There was also the fact that Mathias happened to be his roommate too. A very quiet one. But he didn't mind at all. Hiro could talk enough for them both.
Unfortunately, that particular day he couldn't find him, and wondered if perhaps Mathias had used a concealment charm or something to hide his whereabouts. But Hiro wouldn't give up! Much like back at home, he didn't see him at meals or around the foreign castle. That wasn't really surprising to him, Mathias wasn't much of an interactor with others. But that had never stopped Hiro before! He was quite stubborn.
And his chance came on the third day they spent at Hogwarts.
The set of cabins on the campgrounds at the Great Lake were nothing special.
But then, it was a temporary living space for foreign visitors. So, there was no need to make amazing structures, not on the level that the Hogwarts castle was.
Hiro had been snooping around like he usually tended to do, having already bothered a few of the others, and was going back to his private room in one of the shared cabins. He wanted to grab a seaweed snack from his trunk, as Hogwarts apparently didn't have those. And that was when he abruptly realized he hadn't checked out the room next door to his. How could that room have escaped him? The thought was foreign to him.
Maybe because he'd been so busy yesterday talking with everyone. Well, there was no time like the present to see who was next door to him! Hiro quickly grabbed the snack from his trunk and then left his room to knock on his neighbor's door. But there was no response from inside. He frowned and then went outside to circle around to where the room was supposed to be. Yes, he had his ways! Where was it... ah, there it was.
A beautiful dusty window!
Hiro used sleeve to wipe away some of the dust and peered into the cabin room.
At first, it looked the same as all the other cabins and it didn't seem as if anyone was inside now. The room itself looked very similar to all the others, with a bed and nightstand and a trunk at the base of the bed too. Ooo, the trunk was open! Curiosity aroused, Hiro checked the window and discovered it wasn't locked and slowly started to slide it open. He wasn't thinking at all about this, as in what he was currently doing.
After a few seconds, he managed to get it open wide enough for him to slither through the hole. Upon setting his feet down upon the floor, Hiro looked around the room and then he spotted him. A smile broke across his lips as he ran over to where Mathias was and came to a halt just before he ran into him. "So this is where you've been hiding out, Mathias!" He exclaimed, resisting the urge to hug him at the moment.
Doing such a thing was quite dangerous.
Hiro had done this several times with others, who had thrown things at him afterward.
Or even cast spells on him. Right now, he didn't want to be holed up in the hospital wing! "Why are you hiding in here? Are you trying to avoid your girlfriend?" Hiro asked with an arched brow, a faint smile playing along his lips. He reached out to try and poke Mathias in the side. "Come on, you should go talk to her! She's probably dying to talk to you." Hiro added and headed over to Mathias's temp bed.
He took a seat on it and waited for Mathias to respond to him.

He would hear the knob rattle and he would ignore it. Like others, the curious would find another space to loiter in once they realized that this space was closed. He was not the inviting sort, a locked door was message enough to go away. Pride preferred the peace of solitude over the rancorous, meddlesome, disjointed colloquies of an inadequate and irrelevant audience. He had hardly inspected his room to be invaded from an alternative angle -- the widow. Not too nimble, more a clumsy call into this room and a tumble into a room not much larger than a walk-in closet. The redhead was in a pair of plaid boxer shorts and a terrycloth cloth reading what appeared to be a book by Michale Nuccitelli.
Mercurial Merlin, how did HE find him here!
"So this is where you've been hiding out, Mathias!"
The overly excitable underclassman exclaimed only to be met by a dull pair of hazel eyes that slowly lifted themselves from a book in what could only be described as a gaze of disbelief and silent annoyance. He constricted his terrycloth robe around his waist, hardly decent for visitors but he was not the sort to be easily embarrassed by a concave chest pair of chicken legs.
"Why are you hiding in here? Are you trying to avoid your girlfriend?"
At the mention of his 'girlfriend' his face turned a shade redder than his trademark red hair and he would wordlessly drop his book on the floor and walk across the room to grab his helmet. His safe space. Donning his headgear, a reflective visor that only shown the images of those who spoke to him rather than his own troubled expressions he looked rather odd one might say. An anime-style helmet and a bathrobe, a weeb in the making perhaps but he did not seem to care.
Only when the helmet was placed on his head would be reply wordlessly still with a shake of his head side-to-side as if to say "no."
"Come on, you should go talk to her! She's probably dying to talk to you."
He would shake his head again, "no." Swatting at Hiro Bakugo's hand as he poked his side. Hiro would notice perhaps how thin the boy was, not quite sickly but close. He was rifling through the cloak in search of something, yes... a wand. A weapon as much as it was a tool. A dangerous implement entrusted into the privileged but immature hands of teenagers who were subject to passions and dangerous considerations.
Hiro would make himself at home on the teen's bed. The trappings of a love scene that would not unfold in the private of this cabin. Wrong genre dear cotton-candy boy. Pride works exclusively in the medium of horror.

It was only after Hiro had settled himself down onto the bed that he had time to look over his roommate. His perceptive eyes noted how Mathias was only dressed in boxer shorts and a terrycloth robe. Well, it made sense. He was in his private room and probably wasn't expecting guests at the time. But Hiro didn't care what state of dress Mathias was in. It didn't bother him at all! Eye candy galore! A smirk came to his lips.
But enough of that for now. Mathias's body didn't seem normal to him, it looked almost sickly. Hiro wondered if he was eating enough healthy nutrients. Perhaps he'd stalk him for a time and see whether or not he ate. Dried meat, nuts and crackers with spread were definitely good choices for snacks but not for actual meals. As Mathias wrapped the robe around himself and tied it together, Hiro chuckled at the other boy's actions.
It was almost as if he was scared of him.
"Don't worry, I won't pounce on you." He teased him a little.
Mathias's reaction when he spoke of his girlfriend made Hiro's eyes widen and an even bigger smile came to his face. How adorable. It really was fun to see him without his mask, his expressions were outstanding! Perhaps the reason why Mathias wasn't as guarded with him was because he knew that despite Hiro's tendency to be a chatterbox, he wasn't one to spread rumors or divulge personal information to others.
Sure, he was still guarded, but not as much as with others.
Of course, Mathias reacted typically afterward. The book he was reading fell to the floor and the boy stood up and made his way over to the hook where his mask was.
Hiro glanced down at the book and stooped to pick it up, glancing over the title. A psychologist book? Interesting. A bit of light reading, or was there a purpose behind it? He looked up to see the mask-clad boy standing above him, staring down at him. Well, he only assumed he was, as the mask was tilted downward a bit. As Mathias shook his head, trying to say he wasn't hiding from Winnie, Hiro grinned. Ah, what a poor boy.
He didn't realize how obvious he was.
"Tsk. Mathias, if that was true, you wouldn't have needed to get the mask to hide your face. Don't hide from your feelings. Whatever they are, you should pursue them. Screw the consequences." Hiro said, gazing up at the other boy.
As Mathias swatted his hand as he tried to poke his side, Hiro laughed, enjoying their antics together. But when Mathias started to rifle through his cloak for something, his eyes widened and Hiro quickly flung himself onto his roommate. He clasped his hands around Mathias's hand, the one that was rifling through his cloak, and tried to stop him from finding the item inside. Something that he was certain had to be his lovely wand.
Why?
Because Mathias was the type to try and do anything to make people leave.
Short of a spell cast on Hiro, he wouldn't be able to get rid of him if Hiro didn't want to go. "Ahhhh! Come on, don't try and get rid of me! I just found you, let's talk some more!" He exclaimed, gazing up at him, hands still around Mathias's wrist.

Information was a commodity he was not particularly willing to share. The helmet was a recent manifestation, something he had started to don shortly before the trip to Hogwarts. A poor attempt to hide his identity by becoming more noticeable? Perhaps. More importantly it hid his face, his expressions and his truth. The moments of emotional attachment, of sentiment and of true passion.
His truth had to remain hidden at any cost.
Hiro certainly spoke enough for the two of them. He was going to have to shut him up. Probably not permanently unless an exceptional opportunity afforded itself. His trunk had enough space for one. He would trudge towards his cloak, silently cursing his own laziness that he did not keep his wand on him. Grasp his extension of power and use it. Forego the sympathies of a weak man and act as a wizard. A single word and a flick of the wrist. It was easy to do, he just needed to man up and do what had to be done!
His hand would plunge into his cloak. A miasma of bloodlust that could not be seen but perhaps could be felt. He had no idea what Winnie had told the boy, of him, his past or his truth but it was obviously too much. No stronger than Pride [3], had he the physical brawn to force his way he would have easily won this battle.
He just wanted to talk.
Of course he did. It was always talk talk talk. Let's understand our feelings. Feelings of love and fidelity, rarely of duty or ambition. Dirty thoughts, to be aspirational is to be synonymous with cruel. Calculating with cold, distant and aloof. Probably true. That being the problem, the truth was a dangerous. He would grip something, his wand. A small victory if he could only withdraw.
Not an extraordinary feat but a victory all the same for the boy as his arm was frozen in place by the surprising panic strength of the underclassman that insisted they needed a conversation. A conversation with a veritable mute. Well, the boy was not clever, just talkative and somehow stronger than Pride. The former Slytherin's expression curled into a sneer that would be left unseen beneath the helmet that only reflected the boy's desperation.Contested strength check
Mathias: 3+ 3
Hiro: 3 + 9
Hiro has out-muscled Pride.
With his free arm, the only one he had, he would attempt to elbow Hiro and knock him back.
[Accuracy v Evasion Roll
Success would be minor damages and possible relinquishment of his arm 25%]
Feel free to counter, you have the advantage since you have hold of him.

Hiro had no idea what was going through Mathias's mind, but if he had to guess it was probably along the lines of 'nuisance'. As Hiro clung to Mathias's wrist, he continued to look up at the mask his roommate wore. It made his expression beneath it unreadable, which was a shame. He liked seeing the different emotions that flickered over his face. As he tried to shake him off, Hiro's grip tightened a little, not letting go!
But he knew things couldn't keep up like this forever, he had to do something to gain the advantage. And then an idea came to mind, one that would probably work.
The only question was how he was going to do it, since there was a risk Mathias could escape as he was doing it. If only he could catch him off guard or distracted for a split second, the technique had a chance to work. It culminated in Mathias eventually trying to elbow him to knock him back, which Hiro deftly dodged and took advantage of the situation. He quickly started to go through the moves for a single-leg-takedown on him.
Bending his knees, Hiro drove his forehead into Mathias's chest, while keeping his back and head straight. He released Mathias's wrist and wrapped both hands around his closest leg, holding his knee tightly up against his chest. Hiro's head was still facing Mathias's chest, so any retaliations wouldn't make him release his hold on the appendage. Once he had a firm grip on his leg, Hiro pulled Mathias's knee up a little.
Until he'd secured Mathias's calf between his thighs.
Then, he quickly bent his knees and pulled Mathias's leg down with him.
This would effectively make Mathias lose his balance and would end with him being taken down to the floor. Hopefully, he wouldn't have his wand in his hand, as all this had happened in the space of a few milliseconds. Or if he did, perhaps it would have fallen out of his hand as Mathias was brought down. Once Mathias was down, Hiro climbed on top of him, straddling him as he stared down at his roommate with a sigh.
"Mathias. Don't hide your pretty face behind a mask." Hiro commented and reached down to slide it off, to reveal his true face behind the object.
"I'm not asking much, just don't lie to yourself. If you have feelings for Winnie, go see her. If you keep avoiding her, it won't solve anything. It's simple. You either like her or you don't. From what I've seen so far, you seem to like her. So go do what your heart desires. Once you give in to your feelings, everything will become easier for you." He said and smirked at the boy.
He got off Mathias and tilted his head in the direction of the door. "Now go find her."
Hiro turned and headed back towards Mathias's bed, stooping to pick up the fallen book again. But then he glanced back at the other boy and grinned at him. "Or do you want to spend the rest of the night with me?" Hiro asked with an arched brow, teasing him. "I mean, I am pretty cute to look at. Or so I've been told." He said with a wink. Yes, it looked like Hiro intended on staying in Mathias's room now.
That is, until the other boy left it. If Mathias decided to go, Hiro would also leave. If he didn't, Hiro would stay, it was as simple as that. Now, what would Mathias Pride do?
I have permission from Mathias to bring him down to the floor.

Let me be dark and broody or as broody as a guy hiding from a pastel Disney princess with Herculean strength can be. He had his reasons, a true Slytherin regardless of his present wizarding robes. There was always a plan, some sort of objective. Failure was never an option, but he had suffered an unexpected set-back in ensuring his future seat. Another opportunity was not likely to expose itself, the expected, fated death of the ailing heir apparent. In a matter of years as Uncle Thaddeus' health wanes, eyes would have been on his eldest son, the alleged 'golden child' in spite of his utter stupidity. It had to be done.
Like a bony damnable missile, the first year would bound into Pride's chest skull-first. Mathias was the furthest thing from a fighter. Something Winnie knew well, having payed the hero rather than the damsel in Pride's case in the not particularly distant past. He was working on it. On dealing with his fragility. It was no surprise that the small Asian youth avoided his elbow. Pride was the worst martial arts star to ever grace a wizarding academy.
"Ooof!"
The sound of air escaping his lungs in a single burst of breath vocalized in hardly a protest but followed up with a high-pitched wheeze. He buckled, his hand raising to his chest instinctively as air hunger dictated his next few moments. Limbs would construct around one of his legs and topple the gasping beanpole.
He had his wand, not that he had the wind or the freedom of movement to use his magic to his advantage.
"Mathias. Don't hide your pretty face behind a mask."
Hiro commented, Pride tried to buck him off uselessly. Hiro might be surprised by the actual heft of the mask he had donned, a unfortunate necessity if he knew the potential power of Harper's backhand.
Mathias was a pale, thin boy. Sunken cheeks that could be cheekbones but he was also thinner now than he used to be. A dusting of freckles and darkness under his eyes. His hair a bit long, of course red, he was in need of a haircut and his hair was allowed to run wild. Not that his face was completely unknown, but even back in Japan he rarely showed it. Hooded robes, dark corners and a preference for being alone.
"I'm not asking much, just don't lie to yourself. If you have feelings for Winnie, go see her. If you keep avoiding her, it won't solve anything. It's simple. You either like her or you don't. From what I've seen so far, you seem to like her. So go do what your heart desires. Once you give in to your feelings, everything will become easier for you."
He furrowed his brow at the younger boy while he caught his breath. What did he know about anything? What did he know about her? How the hell did he know her name! Pride had a paranoid streak, the sort any villain would have. The girl had no business in Japan, she probably did not know Japan was even a place, just a cuisine. He never credited the girl for being particularly bright or clever, she did not do his laundry nearly as often as expected, but there was something else he could not quite quantify... something intangible. Yes, he was fond of her as ridiculous of a notion as that might have been. A shame she had the pedigree of a street mongrel.
Damn the technicalities he would have to lie his way out of.
Young Hiro would not get any verbal acknowledgement. In fact, the boy to date would never have heard his voice outside of an incantation. "Now go find her." His head nodded towards the door.
He was not going to go anywhere, too stubborn and yes prideful to take instructions from an underclassman. Wordlessly he would grab a slip of paper and in poorly penned kanji would write -- don't listen to her. He was a quick study but he was still a novice in the language. Did he have grounds to tell Hiro to disregard what the girl had to say? Not really, she was telling the truth but sometimes the truth was the worst thing one could share.
Not that the match-maker seemed deterred.
"Or do you want to spend the rest of the night with me?" Hiro threatened with a smile. "I mean, I am pretty cute to look at. Or so I've been told." He should give this guy Levi's number. He needed to get a lock for his window.
Hesitation. He would look down at his wand, murder was an easier option than facing Winnie. He frowned in contemplation. It would be hard to hide the body. So he fell onto his default, he lied. He would seek out his helmet again and wordlessly slide it back on his head before he walked out the door. Yes, in a bathrobe, without shoes wearing an overly dramatic, anime-style helmet...
[Mathias attempts to escape?]
