2022, Stage 2 Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 2

Willow's wand might be dysfunctional. How else could it be explained that Willow's spells kept missing? Surely it couldn't be her fault since she was such a powerful witch. As she was glaring at her wand, she momentarily forgot she should be paying attention and was hit with her least favorite spell. A sickness rumbled in her belly and she began sneezing uncontrollably. She glared at Delilah unable to speak between the sneezes.

[font=Times new roman]Delilah almost wanted to do a little happy dance, this was going well. Sure Cade's spell failed but it didn't hurt him, he was fine, but herself and Cade managed to dodge the spell coming towards both of them. She did feel a little bad about her use of Curse of Bogies. "Sorry about that mate." It was just what happened, she knew willow would be fine later on.

The cornered Badger was not out of this fight yet, the Raven's victory would be contested until the Badger lay unconscious.

Cade and Willow locked eyes on each other. They each began crafting a spell to shoot at one another. Cade had chosen Spongify - a wild random spell that effected wherever the target was unlucky enough to be hit. Willow had gone for the ever classic Flipendo. The spells crossed, and moments later Cade would be knocked back a meter or so. Willow had managed to land a hit (for once) and dodge the incoming spell.

While the flipendo would sting, Cade would feel a rush of adrenaline and confidence hit his body. Delilah had been busy with a Serenate, a spell that inspired it's targets. As her cast hung in the air the crowd would see the devilish smiles that seemed to momentarily take hold of the Ravens. He buff had been successful.

Where there had been confidence coursing through the Ravens' bodies, there would be nausea spreading in Willows. The sneezes would continue, but she would begin to feel her stomach turn against her. Would the sneezing Badger still be able to stand against the magically-confident Ravens.

[font=Times new roman]This time Del was going to try out a spell she had yet to try out. A buffing spell she had almost forgotten she even knew. That's the thing in a duel, you're so taken up with the heat of the battle that you forget part of your skillset. Thankfully it went well, she will be using this sometime again.

Finally, one of her spells hit. The only problem that it wasn't as powerful since she felt like at any moment she might puke and she was trying to keep a hold of her lunch. She was just barely able to dodge the spell that Cade sent her way. Truly she wanted this to be over with, and she knew she had a limited time to pull out even a draw at this point. She had to keep fighting, for her house and for Callista.

[font=Times new roman]Cade finally took a hit and though it wasn't as powerful as it could have been, he still felt dizzied as he landed hard on his back. Thankfully Delilah managed to cast her spell flawlessly and Cade felt its effects energize him substantially. All the aches and pains numbed into minor annoyances. The Ravenclaw would get to his feet and prepare for the next round.

The sneezing fit appeared to be too much for our lone Badger to handle. As Willow began to concoct another flipendo Cade would match her. Sneezing while casting was no easy feat, and the resulting spell, while not particularly daunting, was impressive in its own way. Sadly, aiming while sneezing was even harder. The flipendo would collide with the stage floor by Cade. It had been an easy, almost whimsical movement for the lad.

Whatever Delilah had done the last round seemed to pay off. Cade was on fire (metaphorically). His flipendo would shoot towards Willow with deadly speed and accuracy. This spell was not going to miss its mark. Willow would be sent flying backwards. A brutally strong bolt of magic colliding into the poor badger.

But the Ravens were not satisfied yet. Delilah shot forward a Ventus at the airborne Badger. It almost seemed that it would miss, but Lady Luck was not so kind. The air would rip over and around Willow, adding a little extra force to the knock back she had already received.

Galton almost wanted to call the match here. There was little time for the Badger to recover. It would take Merlin’s intervention to stop the Ravens from claiming victory. A forceful sneeze would ring out through the dueling room from the prone Badger, it’s sound helped fill the shocked silence that had taken hold of the audience.

Willow knew she had a limited amount of time to turn this duel around. To constantly be the last one standing was exhausting. To have everyone watching her fail over and over for as long as the other team wished her to be awake for. Once again, her spell missed. Cade however hit her so hard she flew backwards landing on the ground. What made matters worse was being hit with the wind jinx on her way down, disorienting her.

She was sneezing, feeling like she could throw up at any minute, she was on the floor... humiliated. She wanted this to end more than ever. She couldn't even bare to find her brother in the crowd, hoping he had left so she could avoid him seeing her like this.

[font=Times new roman]Delilah felt extremely conflicted. On the one hand, Willow seemed to be having an absolutely awful time. On the other, she was winning! There was no better feeling than knowing you are going to win. But Delilah would always be a soft one at heart.

"Hey are you alright? Can I take you out for something to eat in hogsmeade this weekend? Sorry about all this." If there was one thing Delilah was, she was a people pleaser, especially when Willow hadn't done anything wrong, she seemed sweet.

[font=Times new roman]Double hit! Cade grinned when he saw Willow knocked back by his unusually strong flipendo. He felt like he was on top of the world! Energy surged through him as though he'd had too many sweets. The confidence built up exponentially and he was sure that nothing could bring them down now. Not even the horrible condition Willow was left in did much to dampen the smile on his face. If Delilah's spell was weaker he might have felt terrible about reducing his friend to such a state, but the magic felt so good... He couldn't take his mind off of winning. They were so far into the duel! So far, so good.
