Cyrus was beginning to like the UK. It was small, far smaller than America, but after a while, that smallness became comforting. There were still cities, still people... Just less. Less uncertainty.
Cyrus now fully appreciated it when his aunt brought him to London. 'It's a good experience for a boy your age,' she would say, as if any almost-fifteen-year-old would need to go to London for his aunt's business... But in all honesty, Cyrus didn't mind.
Thea lived in the UK. He had a friend.
For a boy as extroverted as Cyrus, one would think he had an abundance of friends. This was not the case. Cyrus was obnoxious to say the least, and he never had been very good at making friends. He was always too much. And that hadn't ever bothered him, not really, but it bothered other people. Only two people hadn't been bothered by it: His Aunt Teresa and Thea.
He glanced down at his duck-print purse - it was a man purse, okay? Cyrus was allowed to have a purse if he wanted to; they were incredibly useful - and pulled out one of the twenty-nine chocolate frogs he had bought. It was still in its wrapper. Otherwise, maybe it would become too much and hop into someone's drink.
Cyrus hadn't bought anything to drink, which was probably a bad idea as chocolate tended to make him thirsty. It didn't matter.
'Regal,' he thought. 'Strong.'
He opened the chocolate frog, which was neither regal nor strong but was instead very wiggly, and lifted it by its leg to his mouth. It tasted all right, he guessed. It was just chocolate. It was always just chocolate.
'A butterbeer, please?' he asked the bartender, an idea coming to him. The bartender took his money, and soon enough, a frothing butterbeer was in front of him. He opened another chocolate frog, setting the card down next to him, and dipped the frog in the sweet liquid.
It was wonderful. Regal.
Not very strong, but that wasn't a problem.
Aunt Teresa had given him money and told him to 'not get into trouble' while she was working. He supposed this wasn't 'getting into trouble'. He'd already been shopping. He'd bought a brooch that he hoped to give to Thea the next time he saw her. His chocolate frogs were not a troublesome purchase - every teenage boy loved to eat food!
He continued to dip the frog in his drink until the frog was all gone, and then he pulled the brooch out of his purse and looked at it. It was a happy little duck, he decided, and it was very fitting for Thea. He hoped she would like it...

Places like the Leaky Cauldron had always made Thea nervous. Maybe if she went there more, it would've become a bit more familiar, a bit more comfortable. It was a self sustaining cycle of nervousness causing her to not go, and not going making it a nervewracking experience to be there. Besides, it's not like she had much of a reason to go most of the time. She didn't even like butterbeer.@Koko Riddle
Unfortunately for her, back to school season meant late August would be transitioning into early September, with all the trappings of autumn involved. The sunny weather, which allowed her to wear just a t-shirt and some shorts, quickly changed. Thea was forced to come to the unfortunate conclusion that avoiding the crowds of the Leaky Cauldron wasn't worth standing out in the pouring rain.
When she entered the pub, she was pleased to find it wasn't as crowded as she feared; well, about as pleased as a teenager whose clothes and hair just got soaked can be, but pleased nonetheless. Trying to make her way away from the door as swiftly as possible, she quickly walked to the bar and had taken a seat, not bothering to look around her.
"A pumpkin juice, please?" The short girl said softly and exchanged some sickles with the bartender. After the sky cleared up, she'd probably have to get back to getting her school supplies. But right now, her priority was just waiting for her clothes and hair to dry.

RP'ing as approved iNPC Cyrus Darsel.@Thea KnottCyrus continued to dip his frogs into his drink, savouring the sweet taste of his butterbeer-ed chocolate. It was a surprisingly good combination, although he did have to keep reminding himself that the frogs weren't real and he was not submerging a real animal within a sugary drink.
He stared into his glass, his eyes unfocused, when he heard the squeaking of chair legs on the floor. Cyrus sat up, correcting his posture into the proper sitting that he'd been taught when he was young, but he slumped over again when he noticed who it was. He didn't say anything quite yet, partially due to surprise, but also due to his having a chocolate frog in his mouth.
He had to have ESP or something. He'd been thinking about her, even if he'd been a bit detached, and here she was.
He discreetly pinched the inside of his wrist, and biting back a hiss, he knew he hadn't fallen asleep.
Cyrus pulled out his small bag of frogs and dumped its contents on the counter. 'Er... Would you like a chocolate frog? Or two? Take as many as you'd like.' He smiled. There were a lot left, after all, so he didn't mind how many Thea took... If she wanted any.
What if she'd thought about him and hated him now?
Cyrus put the thought in the back of his mind. He was just being silly. Friends didn't suddenly hate one another, right? That was just what happened in movies.
